William L. Suchonic, 75 of Mercer Street, Butler, died Friday, October 1, 2004 at 9:50 p.m. in Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born January 27, 1929 in Butler, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Michael J. Suchonic and Katie Lucas.
Mr. Suchonic was a photographer in Personnel Relations for Armco (AK) Steel. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and Korean conflict and was the recipient of the Purple Heart. He served in the 5th Regimental Combat Unit and remained active with that group through regular reunions. Member of VFW Post 249 and American Legion Post 778, Lyndora. He was a professional photographer and a Ham Radio operator. Mr. Suchonic was an alumnus of the New York Institute of Photography. He was active in his church, Grace Lutheran, where he served on church council, ushered, served on Christian education committee, property committee and did public relations. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Mr. Suchonic is survived by his wife, Peggy Edmiston Suchonic, whom he marriage on June 26, 1951 by four daughters, Cynthia Markham of Butler, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Joseph (Pamela) Furka of Butler, Pennsylvania, Mrs. David (Rebecca) Wigton of Bradenton, Florida, Mrs. Robert (Billie Jo) Wiest of Butler, Pennsylvania, six grandchildren, two great grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Catherine McDonald of Butler, Pennsylvania, and by a number of nieces and nephew.
Mr. Suchonic was preceded in death were his three brothers and two sisters.
Friends will be received at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, PA, on Monday, October 4, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the Grace Lutheran Church, Tuesday, October 5, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Tim Bupp Officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Elva Barton McCormick
May 5, 1910 - October 1, 2004
Elva Barton McCormick formerly of Rockenstein Avenue, currently a patient at Sunnyview Home passed away Friday, October 1, 2004 at 7:00 a.m. in the Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born in Butler, Pennsylvania on May 5, 1911, she was the daughter of the late William G. Raabe and Minnie Sumney Raabe.
Mrs. McCormick was marriage on July 3, 1930 to Paul Albert Barton he preceded her in death on October 30, 1961. She marriage her second husband Raymond Paul McCormick on April 8, 1967; he preceded her in death on February 14, 1978.
Mrs. McCormick had been a cafeteria worker for the Butler Area School District. She was a member of the former St. Paul's United Church of Christ, and the Queen Elizabeth Rebekah Lodge #463.
Mrs. McCormick is survived by two sons, Richard W. Barton of Midlothian, Virginia and Robert L. Barton of Queen Creek, Arizona, five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, several stepchildren and by a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Friends and family of Elva Barton McCormick will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania 16001 on Sunday, October 3, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Monday, October 4, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. in the Greenlawn Burial Estates Mount Chestnut, with the Reverend David West of Christ Outreach Church officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenlawn Burial Estates.
Lee H. Warren
October 20, 1919 - September 27, 2004
Lee H. Warren, 84, died on Monday, September 27th at the Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
A veteran of WWII, he was a pilot in the U.S. Army Air Corp and saw duty in the Mediterranean Theater. He flew combat missions out of North Africa, Sicily, and Italy as part of the Italian Campaign.
Mr. Warren was born on October 20, 1919 in Clearfield, PA, but was a lifelong resident of Butler. He at one time owned and operated the Swan Taxi Company of Butler, and later was the manager of the Mr. Tire store. He was a member of Elks Lodge 170. In his younger days he was an avid golfer, and throughout his life greatly enjoyed traveling.
Mr. Warren is survived by his wife of 59 years, the former Valda J. Glenn of Butler; three children - Sandie Swigart of New Bern, NC, Gary Warren of Springfield, VA, and Ronald Warren of Fairfax, VA; six grandsons; four great grandchildren; and eleven nieces & nephews.
A graveside memorial service will be held at the Butler County Memorial Park & Mausoleum at a later date.
Loretta "Jean" Monks
February 13, 1943 - September 23, 2004
Loretta "Jean "Monks, age 61of Summit Street, Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away Thursday, September 23, 2004 at 9:45 a.m. in the Butler Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Monks was born in Butler, Pennsylvania on February 13, 1943. She was the daughter of the late Floyd A. Rauschenberger, Sr. and Dorothy Huselton Rauschenberger.
Mrs. Monks was a homemaker, she was a member of North Street Christian Church, Good Samaritan Shrine #32 of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, Butler Chapter # 45 of The Order of the Eastern Star, Order of the Amaranth #145, and a former member of and currently a member of the executive board of the International Order of Rainbow for Girls Assembly #25.
She is survived by her Husband, Gary Lee Monks, Sr. whom she marriage August 4, 1961, by two sons, Gary Lee Monks, Jr. and David A. Monks both of Butler, Pennsylvania, one daughter, Kellie A. Monks of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, five grandchildren, twelve nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers.
Friends and Family of Loretta Jean Monks will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania 16001 on Saturday and Sunday, September 25 and 26, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral Services will be from The North Street Christian Church, 220 West North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania 16001 on Monday, September 27, 2004 at 10:00 A.M. with the Reverend Robert C. Huber her church pastor officiating. Interment will follow in North Side Cemetery.
The family of Loretta Jean Monks suggests donations to The American Cancer Society or to The American Diabetes Association.
Officers and members of the Good Samaritan Shrine #32 of the White Shrine of Jerusalem will assemble at the Funeral home at 6:45 P.M. Saturday September 25, 2004 to conduct a Shrine memorial service.
Earl T. Denton

Earl T. (Buddy) Denton, 73 of Malvern, died Wednesday, September 22, 2004 in Mainline Nursing Center.
Born November 16, 1930 in Butler, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Earl T. Denton and Mabel E. Emery.
He worked as a food service manager for various companies. He was a graduate of Butler High School class of 1948.
Mr. Denton is survived by his mother, Mabel E. Denton of Philadelphia, Pa, two sisters, Mrs. William S. (Lucille Titus of Long Island, New York, Mrs. William A. (Dawn) Sanders of Rancho Cordova, California, one brother, Joseph L. Denton of Lansdale, Pennsylvania, and by a number of nieces and nephews.
Interment will be in North Washington Cemetery.
Velma E. Pataky
March 4, 1910 - September 22, 2004
Velma E. Pataky, 85 of Concordia Ministries, Cabot, formerly of East Pearl Street, died Wednesday, September 22, 2004 at 1:20 p.m. in Mercy Hospital.
Born March 4, 1919 in Butler, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of George Eichorn and Helen Bancroft.
She was a homemaker and in her earlier years she worked for Penn Champ, Inc., the Nixon Hotel as a hostess, and the Pataky Insurance Agency. Mrs. Pataky was a member of St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, a member of the Women's council and a volunteer at Life Line.
Mrs. Pataky is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Barbara) Campau of Livonia, Michigan, Mrs. David (Mary Jo) Milheim of Salem, Ohio, Linda Rough of Wheaton, Maryland, Mrs. Lewis (Michele) Doctor of Butler, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Lowell (Jeanne) Jackson of Poolesville, Maryland, one son, David and Mary Pataky of Butler, Pennsylvania, seventeen grandchildren; Chad Campau, Julie Miller, Diana Coggins, David Milheim, Jennifer Ramsay, Todd Pataky, Melissa Pataky, Shannon Pataky, Melanie Boulanger, Tyler Boulanger, Michael Rough, Brett Rough, Aaron Doctor, Ryan Doctor, Emily Doctor, Kyle Jackson, Kirk Jackson and by a number of great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Patatky was preceded in death by her husband John H. Pataky, who passed away on July 24, 2003 and by one brother.
Services will be held at the St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, Saturday, September 25, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Peter's Roman Catholic Cemetery.

Stella H. Cohen

Stella H. Cohen, 94 of Butler, died Friday, September 17, 2004 in Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born June 30, 1910 in Butler, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of William Horwitz and Dora Berman.
Mrs. Cohen was a homemaker. She was a member of Congregation B'Nai Abraham. She was active in the Jewish community and the Congregation B'Nai Abraham Synagogue where she sang in the Synagogue choir for many years. She was a member of Hadassah and the Sisterhood. She was an active supporter of the Butler Little Theatre, Butler County Symphony, Butler Area Public Library and United Jewish Appeal. She was a member of the American Association of University Women.
Mrs. Cohen is survived by one son and his wife, Steven and Marsha Cohen of Buffalo Grove, Illinois, daughter, Harriet Cohen of Larchmont, New York, four grandchildren, William Cohen, Jason Cohen, Theodore Cohen, Jennifer Cohen, one brother, Maurice Horwitz, and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Cohen is preceded in death by her husband Isadore Cohen, two brothers Samuel and Ellis Horwitz and one sister Frances Gordon.
Friends will be received at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, PA, on Sunday, September 19, 2004 from 12:30 to 1:30 P.M.
Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., Sunday, September 19, 2004 at 1:30 P.M. with Cantor Adriane Caplowe officiating. Interment will follow in B'Nai Abraham Cemetery.
