Irene H. Willison, age 73 of South Eberhart Road, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at 5:30 a.m. in the Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born May 7, 1935 in Butler, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late Freeman Huselton and the late Delphine Cuffman Huselton.
Mrs. Willison was a homemaker. She was a member of Oak Hills Christian Church where she was a member of the Christian Women's Fellowship and the Diaconate.
Mrs. Willison is survived by her husband, James Willison whom she marriage on October 18, 1951, by one son and his wife, John and Sue Willison of Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania; one daughter and her husband, Mrs. Roger (Kathy) Menard of Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania; six grandchildren, Laura Willison, Christie and her husband Adam Blair, Andy Menard, Alison Menard, Alec Menard, Anthony Menard; one sister, Mrs. Ron (Candace) Boltz of Butler, Pennsylvania; and by several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Willison was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Thursday, October 2, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the Oak Hills Christian Church on Friday, October 3, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Phillip Conyers, Jr. of Oak Hills Christian Church officiating. Interment will follow in Butler County Memorial Park.

Bernice Perry Williams
February 2, 1914 - September 29, 2008
Bernice Perry Williams, age 94 of Good Samaritan Hospice, Cabot, Pennsylvania, died Monday, September 29, 2008 at 1:50 p.m. in the Good Samaritan Hospice.
Born February 2, 1914 in Clarksburg, West Virginia she was the daughter of the late James Arthur Perry and the late Florence Gray Perry.
Mrs. Williams was a educator for Butler Schools. She was a member of Hill United Presbyterian Church where she served as an elder. She held a bachelors of Arts degree in education from Heidelberg College, Tiffin, Ohio. She attended Slippery Rock College for Elementary Certification. Mrs. Williams earned a Master's of Education degree from the University of Pittsburgh. She served as a teacher and elementary principal for 37 years for the Butler School District at Emily Brittan, Oakland and Clearfield schools. She was a veteran of WW II, serving in the Navy for 2 1/2 years, where she qualified as an instructor in celestial navigation which she used prior to the invention of radar. Her interest in navigation led her to getting her pilots license. She was past commander of the all women's post, Jean E. Parker #842 of the American Legion. She also was a member of the American Legion Post #778, past president of the Soroptomist Club, past president of the Lambda Chapter, Delta Kappa Gamma, a life member of the Pennsylvania State Education Association, and a life member of the National Education Association.
Mrs. Williams is survived by one sister, Mrs. Joan Gregg of Butler, by two nephews Gary and his wife Mary Gregg and Jeffrey Gregg, both of Butler, by two nieces, Barbara Kennedy of Rochester, New York and Sally and her husband Howard Mehringer of Belington, West Virginia and by several great nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Louise Kennedy.
Memorial services will be held at the Hill United Presbyterian Church on Friday, October 3, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Clark Sawyer of Hill United Presbyterian Church officiating.
Officers and members of VFW Post 249 and the American Legion Post 778 of Lyndora will conduct military services at the church.

Matthew Joseph Kapp
June 12, 1987 - September 27, 2008
Matthew Joseph Kapp, age 21 of Butler, died suddenly on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at Allegheny General Hospital.
Born June 12, 1987 in Butler, Pennsylvania he was the son of Frederick A. Kapp and Joanne Rotthoff Kapp of Center Township.
Matt was a 2006 graduate of Butler High School and he had received Academic Awards and letters in track and soccer. He had attended Butler Community College. He was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church of Butler. He was an altar server for five years, a member of youth group service projects, and a church league basketball player. Matt was a member of the PAWest Soccer Association and served as a certified referee for five years. He loved the outdoors and his interest included camping, boating, fishing, hunting, snowboarding, and golf. He was employed by British Motor Sales.
Matt is survived by his parents, his brother, Ethan Kapp of Gannon University, Erie; his grandfather, Ralph A. Kapp of Shippenville; and by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Mr. Kapp was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Marie and Robert Rotthoff of Pittsburgh and by his paternal grandmother, Dorothy Kapp of Shippenville.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by the Very Reverend Harry R. Bielewicz on Wednesday in St. Paul Roman Catholic Church.

Dorothy G. Jack

Dorothy G. Jack, age 88 of Butler, Pennsylvania, died Friday, September 26, 2008 at 9:00 p.m. in the Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born September 26, 1920 in Butler, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late Edwin L. Gardner and the late Erma Murtland Gardner.
Mrs. Jack worked for United Telephone Co. in Butler, retiring with 40 years of service. She was a member of Hill United Presbyterian Church were she was very active in her church. She was also a member of the Independent Telephone Pioneer Assoc., member Butler Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.
Mrs. Jack is survived by two sons, Ronald L. and Beverly Jack of Butler, Pennsylvania, Robert T. and Lynne Jack of Irwin, Pennsylvania; by four grandchildren, and three great-grandsons.
Mrs. Jack was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Earl Jack, Jr. who passed away on August 24, 1972 and also by two sisters.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Monday, September 29, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and at Hill United Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, September 30, 2008 from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m.

Frederick L. Curran
June 9, 1913 - September 22, 2008
Frederick Lorenzo Curran, age 95 of Mount View, Butler, Pennsylvania, Franklin Township, passed away on Monday, September 22, 2008 at 8:40 a.m. in the Butler Veterans Administration Hospital
Born in Menomonie, Wisconsin on June 9, 1913, he was the son of the late Fred L. Curran and Ada May Kelsey Curran.
Mr. Curran was a retired high school teacher for the Detroit Public Schools. He was member of Covenant Presbyterian Church and sang in the church choir. Mr. Curran was active with meals on wheels and volunteered for the Red Cross. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II. Mr. Curran enjoyed repairing and refinishing furniture, was an accomplished musician and in his earlier years he played in a jazz band.
Mr. Curran is survived by his second wife, Marian Knepper Curran, whom he marriage on November 23, 1990, by one son, Charles Curran and his wife Claudia of Parker, Colorado, one daughter, Mrs. Mary Trebilcock and her husband John of Haslett, Michigan, two step-children, Mary Reefer and her husband John of Butler, Pennsylvania, Werner Duecker and his wife Carol, of Littleton, Colorado, five grandchildren, Julie Trebilcock Swager and her husband Eric, James Trebilcock, John Curran, Patrick Curran, Caitlin Curran, three step-grandchildren, Jason Reefer, Karen DeLorenzo and her husband Matt, Beth Reefer, five great-grandchildren and by several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Curran was preceded in death by his first wife, Marion E. Wedge, who he marriage on February 15, 1947, she passed away on January 17, 1980. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Curran Nutter and Elizabeth Curran Stein.
There will be visitation from 2:00 to 3:00 P.M. and a memorial service to follow at 3:00 at the Covenant Presbyterian Church on Sunday September 28, 2008 with Reverend James Swanson officiating. Interment will be in White Chapel Cemetery, Troy, Michigan.
In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church's music program, 230 East Jefferson Street, Butler, Pennsylvania 16001.
Marie Kornrumph
February 22, 1921 - September 19, 2008
Marie Kornrumph, age 87, of Butler, Pennsylvania, died Friday, September 19, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. in the Clarion Forest Visiting Nurses Association Hospice, Shippenville, Pennsylvania.
Born, February 22, 1921 in Coaltown, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late Loyd Kelly and the late May Conway Kelly.
Mrs. Kornrumph was formerly a sales person for Montgomery Wards and before her marriage had worked at the A & P Grocery Store in Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania. She was a member of Unionville United Presbyterian Church; she bowled up until shortly before her death in the Coins League and The Early Birds League at Family Bowlaway.
Mrs. Kornrumph was preceded in death by her husband Cecil C. Kornrumph, whom she marriage on January 17, 1947. He passed away on May 19, 2007. She is survived by one daughter, Beverly (Roger) Engle of Knox, Pennsylvania; a grandson, Edward Engle of Gaithersburg, Maryland; three sisters, Anna May Sutton of Charleston, South Carolina, Jean (Edward) McGill of Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania, and Donna Ord of Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania; and by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.
At Marie's request there will be no public visitation or funeral services. Private interment will take place in Greenlawn Burial Estates. Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania 16001 is handling the arrangements.

J. Dwayne Hartzell
November 9, 1943 - September 18, 2008
J. Dwayne "Danie" Hartzell, age 64 of Brownsdale Road, Renfrew, Pennsylvania, died Thursday, September 18, 2008 at 8:45 a.m. at his residence.
Born November 9, 1943 in Butler, Pennsylvania. He was the son of the late John M. Hartzell and the late Audrey R. Hixon Hartzell.
Mr. Hartzell was a mechanic for Billco Motors in Wexford for 20 years. He was a member of Grace Church of Harmony. Dwayne graduated from Evans City High School and the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics. He also attended Houghton, Geneva and Slippery Rock Colleges. Dwayne was a master gardener, beekeeper and farmer. He was a passionate hunter and outdoorsman, with numerous "trophies". Dwayne was a fine example of what a Christian should be. He led his life with principles and values. Dwayne was a loving husband, devoted father, indescribable pap, dependable brother and trusted friend to all.
Mr. Hartzell is survived by his wife, Patricia J. "Putz" Hartzell, whom he marriage on April 16, 1966, by three daughters and their husbands, Lorrie L. and Fred R. Kison of Renfrew, Wendy W. and Brian K. Douthett of Connoquenessing, Robin R. and Michael J. Spangler of Renfrew, and by a son and his wife, Justin D. and Shannon Hartzell of Wexford. Dwayne is also survived by eleven grandchildren, Tyler, Evan, Noah, Luke, Joshua, and Caleb Kison, Shannon, Emerson, and Maverick Douthett, Emma and Collin Spangler; two brothers and their wives, Daryl E. and Evelyn Hartzell of Renfrew, Larry and Jan Hartzell of Mechanicsburg; one sister, Eileen A. Quinn of Sarver; one brother-in-law, Jerry Arnold of Humboldt, Tennessee and by numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Hartzell was preceded in death by one sister, Janice K. Arnold and one brother-in-law, James Quinn.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday, September 20, 2008 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday, September 21, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the Grace Church of Harmony, on Monday, September 22, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Pete Everett of Grace Church officiating. Interment will follow in North Union Church Cemetery.
