James A. "Turk" Henry, age 60 of Valencia, Pennsylvania, died Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at his residence.
Born January 9, 1948 in Butler, Pennsylvania he was the son of Janet A. Robertson Henry and the late Robert S. Henry.
Mr. Henry was a retired maintenance supervisor for Tube City of Girard, Ohio and had formerly worked at Hecket Multiserv for 23 year. He was Presbyterian by faith. Mr. Henry enjoyed Harley Davidson Motorcycles and riding his motorcycle.
Mr. Henry is survived by his wife, Laurie Barnhart Henry whom he marriage on June 6, 1975, by two daughters, Heather D. Henry of Mars, Pennsylvania, Brandi N. Henry of Anderson, South Carolina; one son, Scott Henry, Florida; his granddaughter, Hannah; his mother, Janet A. Henry of Corpus Christi, Texas; one brother and his wife, Robert and April Henry of Murrysville, Pennsylvania; one sister and her husband, Barbara and Dan Curtis of Corpus Christi, Texas; and by a number of nephews.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday, September 20, 2008 from 6 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Saturday, September 20, 2008 at 9:00 p.m. with Pastor Jeff Harris of Trinity Presbyterian Church officiating.
Harry G. McElhaney
July 1, 1921 - September 16, 2008
Harry G. McElhaney, age 87 of Saxony Health Center, Saxonburg, Pennsylvania, formerly of Mar-Vel Drive, Butler, died Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at 6:30 a.m. in the Saxony Health Center.
Born July 1, 1921 in Sligo, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late William D. McElhaney and the late Adda Saylor McElhaney.
Mr. McElhaney was a retired truck driver for AIRCO Industrial Gases. He was a member of St. John's Reformed Church in Meridian. Mr. McElhaney was a veteran of the U.S. Army during WW II. He served in Normandy, Rhineland, the Ardennes and Central Europe and was the recipient of the Bronze and Silver Star. Mr. McElhaney enjoyed classic cars and was member of Teamster Local 92, Canton, Ohio and the A.A.R.P.
Mr. McElhaney is survived by his brother, Russell McElhaney of Latrobe, Pennsylvania, one brother inlaw, Dale E. Dunn and his wife Karen of Butler, Pennsylvania, three sister-in-laws, Geraldine Uber, Gloria Marte and her husband Francis of Butler, Pennsylvania and Agatha Dunn of Illinois. two nieces, and six nephews.
Mr. McElhaney was preceded in death by his wife, Freda Dunn McElhaney whom he marriage on June 6, 1946, and who passed away on January 25, 2006.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Thursday, September 18, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday, September 19, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. with Reverend Dr. Robert Peterson of St. John's Reformed Church officiating. Entombment will follow in Chapel of Devotion, Butler County Memorial Park.

Mildred Ida Sarah Weisenstein
July 16, 1918 - September 14, 2008
Mildred Ida Sarah Weisenstein, age 90, formerly of Whitestown Road, Butler, Pennsylvania, currently a resident at Meadow Lake Manor of Sugar Creek, passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2008 at 6:15 a.m. at Meadow Lake Manor of Sugar Creek.
Born in Dayton, Pennsylvania on July 16, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Simon H. Rumbaugh and Minnie Sipe Rumbaugh.
Mrs. Weisenstein was employed in the inspection department at Castle Rubber Company, East Butler, Pennsylvania. She was a longtime active member of St. John's Reformed Church, a life member of Tanglewood Senior Center, member of Meridian Women's Club, and a former member of Maqueda Chapter # 421 Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Weisenstein was an alumni of Freeport high school.
Mrs. Weisenstein is survived by two sons, H. Richard Redick and his wife Lynn of Worthington, Pennsylvania and Dennis B. Redick and his wife Bonnie of Towanda, Illinois, by two step-sons, Gerald Weisenstein and his wife Judy of Littleton, Colorado and Daryl Weisenstein and his wife Terry of Golden, Colorado, by eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, one sister, Mrs. Mary Hauck of Worthington, Pennsylvania and by a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Weisenstein was preceded in death by her first husband Harry Redick of Freeport, Pennsylvania and her second husband G. Roland Weisenstein who passed away on November 1, 1991. In addition to her husbands, she was also preceded in death by three brothers.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Thursday, September 18, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the St. John's Reformed Church on Friday, September 19, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Dr. Robert Peterson of St. John's Reformed Church officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Burial Estates.

Yvonne Walowen
August 13, 1928 - September 10, 2008
Yvonne Walowen, age 80 of Boyd Drive, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at 5:02 a.m. in St. John's Specialty Care Center, Mars, Pennsylvania.
Born August 3, 1928 in Butler, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late John S. Brooks, Sr. and the late Florence A. Mohr Brooks.
Ms. Walowen was an Administrative assistant for Butler Area School District Tax Office. She was a member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church and a member of the Tanglewood Senior Center.
Ms. Walowen is survived by her two sons, W. George Miller, II of Cape Coral, Florida, Dennis Miller of Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania; one daughter, Dyanne Y. Nicklas of Kannapolis, North Carolina; seven grandchildren, and by a number of great-grandchildren.
Ms. Walowen was preceded in death by one sister and one brother.

Esther Mae Fair
March 22, 1930 - September 7, 2008
Esther Mae Fair, age 78 of Chicora Medical Center, Chicora, Pennsylvania, formerly of the Arbor Apartments, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Sunday, September 7, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. in the Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born March 22, 1930 in Chicora, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late Henry Dally and the late Myrtle Mays Dally.
Esther was a waitress for Rainbow Restaurant and she did laundry for Butler Steam Laundry. She was protestant by faith.
Esther is survived by her sister, Marie Henry and her husband Martin of Butler, Pennsylvania; brother, Richard Dally and his wife Alma also of Butler, Pennsylvania; and by a number of nieces and nephews.
Esther was preceded in death by one brother Earl Dally and one sister Betty Jaillet.
There will be no public visitation. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Katherine L. Bable

Katherine L. Bable, age 45, died Thursday, September 4, 2008 at 7:50 p.m. in the Grove Manor Nursing Home, Grove City, Pennsylvania.
Born October 10, 1962 in Butler, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of John W. and Margaret L. McCafferty Bable.
Miss Bable lived at Shepherds Baptist Ministry, Inc. in Union Grove, Wisconsin for 22 years before moving to Grove Manor Nursing Home, Grove City, Pennsylvania 1 year ago. Miss Bable attended First Baptist Church. She was a 1984 graduate of Clarence Brown Special School.
Miss Bable is survived by her parents; her aunt, Jane Duncan and her husband, George, of Mercer, Pennsylvania; her uncle, Lee O. Bable of Fenelton, Pennsylvania and by several cousins.
Miss Bable was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John (Mable) Bable and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas (Mildred) McCafferty.

Elizabeth J. Purvis
November 7, 1921 - September 1, 2008
Elizabeth Jean Purvis, age 86 of Butler, Pennsylvania, died Monday, September 1, 2008 at the Butler Memorial Hospital. She lived in Mount Chestnut, where she had made her home with her daughter Lisa and grandson Kevin Ceasar.
Born November 7, 1921 in Concord Township, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late John W. McDevitt and the late Mary E. Bish McDevitt.
Mrs. Purvis worked at the lunch counter at Kmart then went to work at the lunch counter at Woolworth until her retirement in 1984. She was protestant by faith. Mrs. Purvis loved her family, flowers, birds and animals.
Mrs. Purvis is survived by her husband, Ralph W. Purvis whom she marriage on April 16, 1942, by her son and his wife, Richard H. "Joe" and Sandy Purvis of Virginia Beach, Virginia; two daughters, Mary L. Coradi, Lisa M. Ceasar, sister, Mary Florence Cobler of Concordia Home, her grandsons, Rodney H. Purvis, Clay Purvis, and Kevin W. Ceasar, by a number of other grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, and by a number of nephews, nieces and cousins.
Mrs. Purvis was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.
