Lillian I. Gibson

July 29, 1929 - December 25, 2008

Lillian I. Gibson, age 79, of North Duffy Road, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Thursday, December 25, 2008 at 11:38 a.m. at her residence.

Born July 29, 1929 in Butler, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin F. Olson and the late Anna I (King) Olson.

She was a former member of the Bethany United Church of Christ. Mrs. Gibson was a private secretary for Boy Scouts of America Moraine Trials Council. She worked at Butler Intermediate High School and Arthur's Gift Shop. Mrs. Gibson was very active in her church, where she served as a Deaconess and Elder, and she taught Sunday school. Mrs. Gibson graduated from Butler Senior High School in January 1948.

Mrs. Gibson is survived by her husband, John D. Gibson, Sr. whom she marriage on September 8, 1952, of Butler; two daughters, Mrs. Alfred (Anita) Dean of Tucson, Arizona; Mrs. Leslie (Cathy) Martin of Butler, Pennsylvania; three sons, John D. and his wife, Sheri Gibson, Jr., William R. and his wife, Barbara Gibson, and Thomas V. Gibson all of Butler; Pennsylvania; eleven grandchildren, five great grandchildren; one brother, Ronald B. and his wife, Darlene Olson, of Butler, Pennsylvania; two nephews, one great nephew; two cousins, Mrs. Marian Christy and Mrs. Eugene (Anna Mae) Webb of Butler, Pennsylvania.

Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Sunday, December 28, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Monday, December 29, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Dr. J. David Panther officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Burial Estates.

Contributions may be made to donor's favorite charity.

Dorothy (Kamerer, McKee) Caldwell

December 25, 1921 - December 24, 2008

Dorothy (Kamerer, McKee) Caldwell, age 86, of Terrace Apartments, Butler, Pennsylvania, formerly of Fenelton, Pennsylvania, died Wednesday, December 24, 2008 at 7:39 p.m. at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Born December 25, 1921 in Fairview, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late David Edward Kamerer and the late Martha Rebecca Bowser Kamerer.

Mrs. Caldwell was a waitress and cook at the Summit Diner for 32 years, National Malibul, Sharon, Pennsylvania. She was a member of McKee Chapel, Fenelton, Pennsylvania.

Mrs. Caldwell is survived by one son, James Edward McKee of Butler; one step-son, Charles Henry (Sam) Caldwell of Warren, Ohio: one step-daughter, Mrs. Frank (Jane Victoria) Polichena of Ravenna, Ohio; six grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Ida Smith and Mrs. Naoma Rose Thompson both of Butler Pennsylvania; two brothers, Thomas Kamerer of Butler, Pennsylvania and Franklin Kamerer of Grove City, Pennsylvania.

Mrs. Caldwell was preceded in death by one son, two sisters and three brothers.

Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Sunday, December 28, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Monday, December 29, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with Jeremy Andrews, of McKee Chapel, Fenelton, Pennsylvania, officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Burial Estates.

John Joseph McCaslin

June 4, 1919 - December 22, 2008

John Joseph McCaslin, age 89 of Passavant Retirement Community, Zelienople, Pennsylvania, formerly of Renfrew, Pennsylvania, died Monday, December 22, 2008 at 8:53 a.m. in U.P.M.C. Passavant, Cranberry.

Born June 4, 1919 in Butler, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Wilbert J. McCaslin and the late Barbara Hutchison McCaslin.

Mr. McCaslin began a 31-year career at the YMCA in 1946 as Youth Director in Sewickley and Butler. He then served as Executive Director in Butler from 1954-1969, then Executive Director in Reed House YMCA in Philadelphia and Chemung County YMCA in Elmira, New York, retiring in 1977. Following eight years as house manager for Chemung County, New York ARC, he and his wife Helen retired in 1985 and returned to Butler a year later. He was a member of St. Andrews United Presbyterian Church where he also served as an elder. Mr. McCaslin was a graduate of Butler High School, class of 1937 and a graduate of Geneva College, University of Pittsburgh and George Washington College. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II, having fought in the battle of Makin and the battle of Saipan, earning the Bronze Star during the Battle of Saipan. Mr. McCaslin was the past president, secretary and pianist of the Butler Kiwanis Club, past president of the state YMCA Senior Citizen Clubs, Founder, past president and pianist of the Butler YMCA MORA Club. Past president of Meridian Senior Citizens, Executive director for 15 years of the YMCA Industrial Management Club, Executive director for 15 years of the Butler Area Council of Churches, Past president of the Harbison Chapter of Retired YMCA Directors, Member of the UCT, the Butler Gideon's, Meridian Veterans Club. Mr. McCaslin was also a choir member of churches in Meridian, Pennsylvania, Somerdale, New Jersey, Horseheads, New York and St. Andrews in Butler. He was a member of the Who's Who in American Colleges. Mr. McCaslin along with his wife received the Good Samaritan Award in 2002. Mr. McCaslin enjoyed gardening, table tennis, golf, playing the organ and piano, traveling, playing baseball in his youth with Meridian U.P. Church and his lifetime Health Club Membership at the Butler YMCA.

Mr. McCaslin is survived by his wife, Helen Heist McCaslin whom he marriage on June 28, 1946, by son, John J. and his wife Joyce McCaslin, of Renfrew, Pennsylvania; three daughters, Margaret Ann and her husband Dave Schlicter, of Spring Grove, Pennsylvania, Rebecca McCaslin, of Runnemede, New Jersey, Mary Lou and Kerry Osterman, of Voorhees, New Jersey; thirteen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one step great-grandchild, his sister, Mrs. Albert (Mary Margaret) Robinson of Newville, Pennsylvania, and by numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. McCaslin was preceded in death by two brothers, Dr. Robert Orr McCaslin and Dr. Richard E. McCaslin.

Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Friday, December 26, 2008 from 3 to 9 p.m.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at 9:30 a.m. at St. John's Reformed Church Cemetery in Butler.

A Memorial Services will be held at the St. Andrews United Presbyterian Church on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Merry H. Meloy of St. Andrews United Presbyterian Church officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrew's United Presbyterian Church, 201 East Jefferson Street, Butler, Pennsylvania 16001 or to the YMCA, 339 North Washington Street, Butler, Pennsylvania 16001.

Modena I Deal Locklin

June 21, 1912 - December 16, 2008

Modena I. Deal Locklin, age 96 of Chicora Medical Center, Chicora, Pennsylvania, formerly of Meridian and Butler died Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at 7:50 p.m. in the Chicora Medical Center.

Born June 21, 1912 in LaMesa, Texas she was the daughter of the late Donal Lawlis and the late Maggie (Butler) Lawlis.

Mrs. Locklin was a supervisor in the dietary department for Butler VA Hospital (Deshon) for 30 years. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Locklin belonged to the Butler Chapter #45 Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed flowers, cooking, baking, and piecing quilts. Mrs. Locklin enjoyed traveling in the United States and in foreign countries. However, her greatest love was her family and family get togethers, especially at Christmas. She will be sadly missed by all.

Mrs. Locklin is survived by her one son, Edwin E. and his wife Mary Lou Deal of New Castle, Pennsylvania; by five daughters and their husbands, Daneen and Don King of Butler, Pennsylvania, Barrie and Mike Smaretsky of Butler, Pennsylvania, Gaye and Francis Wiest of Meridian, Pennsylvania, Jenny and Dave Forter of Meridian, Pennsylvania, Hope and Jim Sisley of York, South Carolina; fourteen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clois Lawlis of Orange Park, Florida, Dick and Juanita Lawlis of Siloam Springs, Arkansas.

Mrs. Locklin was preceded in death by her first husband, Edwin E. Deal who passed away in 1964 and by her second husband Robert Locklin. She was also preceded in death by her son, William Deal, two sisters, Irene and Neva and one brother Benton.

There will be no public visitation or services.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania.

Freda McCanna Coleman

July 17, 1922 - December 14, 2008

Freda McCanna Coleman, age 86 a resident of Sugar Creek Rest Home, Worthington, Pennsylvania, for the past eleven years, formerly of Cornell Drive, Butler, died Sunday, December 14, 2008 at 6:29 a.m. in the Sugar Creek Rest Home.

Born July 17, 1922 in East Brady, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late Fred A. McCanna and the late Edna V. McElroy McCanna.

Mrs. Coleman was a homemaker. She attended Christ Community United Methodist Church. She had been a member of TOPS for many years and also the Clarion County Campers.

Mrs. Coleman is survived by one daughter and her husband, Janet and Berton Jack; seven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Bessie Panei of Butler, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Blanche Wiles of East Brady, Pennsylvania and by a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Coleman was preceded in death by her husband, Ray W. Coleman who passed away on May 22, 1996, by her daughter, Joan E. Smith, one brother, Clifton McCanna and two sisters, Margaret Wilson and Mildred Bernard.

Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with her nephew Reverend Tom Pesci of the Regular Baptist Church in East Brady officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Robert L "Bob" Lunn

August 18, 1963 - December 11, 2008

Robert L "Bob". Lunn, age 45, of North Washington Road, North Washington, Pennsylvania, died Thursday, December 11, 2008.

Born in Butler, Pennsylvania on August 18, 1963, he was the son of Elmer Lunn and Arta (Klotz) Lunn.

Bob was employed at International Staple.

He is survived by his wife: Kim Twentier Lunn and were marriage on November 22, 1985, one daughter Cassie Lunn of Butler, Pennsylvania, one step son Mike Twentier of Butler, Pennsylvania, two grandchildren; Collin Lunn and Dylan Twentier both of Butler, Pennsylvania, his mother Arta Lunn of Butler, Pennsylvania, three brothers; Raymond Lunn of Petrolia, Pennsylvania, Jim Lunn of Butler, Pennsylvania and Mark Lunn of Fenelton, Pennsylvania, five sisters; Kathy Calhoon of Las Vegas Nevada, Paula Barcic of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Beth Miller of Hendersonville, North Carolina, Sue Courson of Butler, Pennsylvania, and Alice Lunn of Butler, Pennsylvania. His mother and father in law Charles and Ruth Twentier of West Sunbury, Pennsylvania, and by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and one sister.

There will be no public visitation and memorial services will be private.

Geraldine Lindell

November 11, 1916 - December 11, 2008

Geraldine E. (Janosky) Lindell, age 92, formerly of Becker Road and Arbor Apartments, now a resident of Chicora Medical Center, died Thursday, December 11, 2008 at 6:35 p.m. at Chicora Medical Center.

She was born in Glassport, Pennsylvania, on November 11, 1916. She was the daughter of the late Steve Janosky and the late Lucille (Florek) Janosky.

Mrs. Lindell was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church of Herman, Pennsylvania. She was a member of Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion # 683, Christian Mothers of St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church. Mrs. Lindell was a 500 card player, she loved card, parties, bingo, crocheting, and loved reading her prayer book.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Gloria Beechey of Butler, Pennsylvania, four sons, Joseph S. Lindell of Hendersonville, North Carolina, David A. Lindell of Freeport, Pennsylvania, John S. Lindell of Tequesta, Florida, and Robert A. Lindell of Karns City, Pennsylvania, six grandchildren, four great grandchildren and number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph J. Lindell, whom she marriage on June 25, 1935 and who passed away on July 28, 1994. She was also preceded in death by six brothers and one sister.

There will be no public visitation.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Herman on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Mark Carter officiating. Interment will be in the church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, Greater Pennsylvania Chapter, 100 West Station Square Drive, The Landmarks Building, Suite 500, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15219.
