Thomas A. Coleman, age 69, of Petrolia Road, Petrolia, Pennsylvania, passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at 6:30 a.m. in the Butler Memorial Hospital after a courageous four year battle with cancer.
Born October 24, 1939 in Petrolia, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Andrew Adren Coleman and the late Wilda Lucas Sheakley. Mr. Coleman was raised by Delbert Gale Sheakley and the late Wilda Lucas Sheakley.
Mr. Coleman retired in 2000 from Sonneborn (Witco) in Petrolia, Pennsylvania, after 42 years of service. He was Protestant by faith. In the past, Mr. Coleman was very active in the Petrolia Borough Council, the Petrolia Fire Department, the Petrolia Water Authority and he was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Mr. Coleman was an EMT. Tom was a graduate of Karns City High School and attended Butler County Community College He enjoyed working in his yard, attending family gatherings and his dog, Cody.
Mr. Coleman is survived by his wife Carol A. "Cindy" Coleman whom he marriage on December 13, 1956 in The Chicora United Methodist Church Chicora, Pennsylvania. He is also survived by three daughters, Paula Coleman of Butler, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Sharon Walker and her husband Richard of Butler, Pennsylvania, and Sandra Coleman of Petrolia, Pennsylvania; a grandson and his wife, Mick and Lisa Kendrick; four granddaughters, Autum Kendrick, Ginger Kendrick, Elizabeth Walker, and Samantha Walker; two great-grandchildren, Mallory Kendrick and Spencer Schuelke; one sister, Mrs.Virginia Grazier and her husband Kenneth of Chicora, Pennsylvania; and by a number of nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Monday January 5, 2009 from 7 to 9 p.m.
Private funeral services will be held at Tom's request with Kenneth Griffiths, Marlon Morrow and retired Baptist minister, James Kamerer, officiating. Interment will follow in the Bear Creek Cemetery, Petrolia, Pennsylvania.

John R. Estes
December 7, 1929 - January 2, 2009
John Rolland Estes, age 79 of Toccoa, Georgia, formerly of Saxonburg, Pennsylvania, died Friday, January 2, 2009 at 2:20 p.m. in the Stephens County Hospital Toccoa, Georgia.
Born December 7, 1929 in Castle Shannon, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Rolland Estes and the late Marian G. Domb Estes.
Mr. Estes worked for Keystone Resources in Mars, Pennsylvania, was a dairy farmer and had drove school bus for the Bauman Company. He was Protestant by faith.
Mr. Estes is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, John and Jeannine Estes of Toccoa, Georgia; by one granddaughter, Katelyn J. Estes; and one grandson, Johnathan M. Haslup.
Mr. Estes was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Rosella Bole Estes who passed away on June 12, 1999.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 from 7 to 9 p.m. and also on Wednesday, January 7, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Thursday, January 8, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend David Maitland of First Baptist Church and Reverend Richard Jenks of Faith Fellowship Alliance Church officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Burial Estates.

Mary Hulton Phillips
September 22, 1920 - January 19, 2009
Mary Hulton Phillips, age 88, of 750 Belmont Road, died Monday, January 19, 2009 at 8:45 p.m. at her residence.
Born September 22, 1920 in Butler, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late Harry Garfield Hulton and the late Bess Moore Hulton.
Mrs. Phillips was a member of North Street Christian Church and is known for her extensive volunteer work in the Butler Community. Her legacy to the Community is the founding of the Maridon Museum, which proudly combines both her husbands name and also her name.
Mrs. Phillips is survived by a number of nieces and nephews, also by two sister-in-laws.
Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, and also by four brothers, and two sisters.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Wednesday January 21, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Thursday January 22, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at North Street Christian Church on Friday January 23, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Robert Huber of North Street Christian Church and Pastor Donald Jeanes (nephew by marriage) President of Milligan College officiating. Interment will follow in North Side Cemetery .
It is requested memorial donations be made to the Maridon Museum, 132 North McKean Street, Butler, Pennsylvania 16001.
Raymond C. Kifer
September 23, 1919 - January 19, 2009
Raymond C. Kifer, formerly of Butler, passed away on Monday, January 19, 2009, in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
Born in Tionesta, Pennsylvania, on September 23, 1919, he was 89 years old.
Raymond and his wife, Lillie Jane, of 62 years, have lived in Jupiter, Florida since 2003. After graduating from high school in Marienville, Pennsylvania and attending God's Bible School in Cincinnati, Ohio for two years, Raymond served three years in the army in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He worked as an insurance agent for Western & Southern Life Insurance for over 25 years. He attended Faith Fellowship Alliance Church for many years and operated a prison ministry in the Butler Jail for about 20 years.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Lillie Jane Hindman Kifer of Jupiter, Florida; two sons, David Kifer of East Palestine, Ohio and Thomas Kifer of Butler, Pennsylvania; a daughter, Esther Kifer Street of Jupiter, Florida; a sister, Edith Kifer Cunningham of Oakdale, California; a brother, Kenneth Kifer of Fitchburg, Massachusetts; a sister, Lois Kifer Aharrah of Sigel, Pennsylvania; three grandchildren, Benjamin Street, Rachel Street Colletti and Jonathan Street, all of Florida.
Visiation will be at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Monday, January 26, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Faith Fellowship Alliance Church at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 27, 2009. Interment will be in the Mount Chestnut Cemetery.
Lucille Walker Love

Lucille Walker Love, age 98, of Fairway Lane, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Thursday, January 22, 2009 at 4:50 a.m. in the St. John's Specialty Care Center, Mars.
Born May 21, 1910 in Queen Junction (Clay Township) Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late William Porterfield and the late Blanche Lockard Porterfield.
Mrs. Love was a secretary for Knoch High School, retiring in 1972. She was a member of Nixon United Methodist Church, where she played the organ for 20 years. Mrs. Love was a member of the United Methodist Women and Penn Township Socialites.
Mrs. Love is survived by her two sons and their wives, Rex L. and Nancy Walker of Grove City, Pennsylvania, Richard O. and Kitty Walker of Butler, Pennsylvania; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, one step-son, Richard Love of Butler, Pennsylvania; two step-daughters, Mrs. Lee (Mary) Murphy of Rimersburg, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Arthur (Betty) Carney of Butler, Pennsylvania; a number of step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Twila L. Kaiser of Palmer, Alaska, and by a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Love was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Maxwell Love, whom she marriage on June 9, 1972 and who passed away on July 2, 1995, and also by one grandson, Richard Paul Walker, one brother, one sister and two step-daughters.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday, January 24, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Services will be held at the Nixon United Methodist Church on Sunday, January 25, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend Bruce Merritt of Nixon United Methodist Church and Reverend Henry B. Hall, former pastor of Nixon United Methodist officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Blake B. Minich
May 23, 1915 - January 22, 2009
Blake B. Minich, age 93, a life long resident of Center Township, currently a resident at the Heritage House in North East Pennsylvania, died Thursday, January 22, 2009 at 11:05 a.m. at the Heritage House.
Born May 23, 1915 in Mayport, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Norman R. Minich and the late Carrie V. Snyder Minich.
Mr. Minich was a shearman for Armco where he retired in January 1978. He attended Unionville Presbyterian Church. Mr. Minich was a member of the American Legion Post # 117 Butler and the Joseph T. Black Post # 249 VFW, Butler. He enjoyed playing cards, gardening, hunting and fishing.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving in World War II as a 3rd class petty officer and gunners mate.
Mr. Minich is survived by one son, Robert and his wife Shirley Minich of North East, Pennsylvania; one granddaughter, Mrs. Lori Kuhn and her husband, David, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; one grandson, Kevin Minich of Butler, Pennsylvania; two great-grandchildren, Evan and Blake Kuhn; one sister, Muren Beachem of Cocoa, Florida; and a numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Minich was preceded in death by his wife, Freda Hockenberry Minich, whom he marriage on August 22, 1936. She passed away on November 26, 1999, and also by two brothers and four sisters.

Betty Murphy
June 10, 1914 - January 23, 2009
Mrs. Betty (Staples) Murphy of Butler, Pennsylvania passed away Friday, January 23, 2009.
Born in Butler, Pennsylvania June 10, 1914, she was the daughter of Walter Brickel and Mae (Rhoades) Staples.
Her husband of 64 years, Albert Jay Murphy, Jr. who preceded he in death July 12, 2001, along with three brothers and one sister.
Survivors include a brother Seth P. and wife Grace Staples, and a sister Gloria H. Kerr, nine nieces and three nephews. Also a son, Albert Jay Murphy III and his wife Laurel, a daughter Judith Challis and husband Jack Isherwood. four grandchildren, James Jay Isherwood and his wife Izumi John S. Ishwood III and wife Kathryn, Ian Isherwood and his wife Samantha and Megan B Gahring and her husband Brian and by two great grandchildren, Len O. Isherwood and Jesse M. Gahring.
Gardening, traveling, reading and writing were her passions. Mrs. Murphy was a devoted and eloquent Christian woman, a marvelous and loving mother and grandmother and a good friend to all. She will be sadly missed.

There will be no public visitation. A memorial service is planned for Saturday May 2, 2009 at 11:30 a.m. in the Mt. Chestnut Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Jeff Curtis officiating. Interment will take place in Greenlawn Burial Estates, Mt. Chestnut, Pennsylvania.
