LeRoy F. Smith, age 84 of Marwood Road, Cabot, Pennsylvania, formerly of September Drive in Butler died Friday, May 29, 2009 at 11:52 a.m. in the Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born December 31, 1924 in North Buffalo Township, Armstrong County he was the son of the late Carl F. Smith and the late Zelma I. Roudybush-Smith.
Mr. Smith was a certified welder for Wise Machine Company where he worked for 33 years. He was very active at First Baptist Church throughout the years. Mr. Smith enjoyed a wide variety of interests and hobbies including woodworking, gardening, remodeling and always has a project going. He loved making things for his children and grandchildren. Over the years he worked to make his family his #1 priority.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Myrtie Mae Campbell Smith whom he marriage on January 3, 1948, three sons, Gary L and wife Phyllis Smith of Butler, Pennsylvania, Jay R and wife Nancy Smith of Butler, Pennsylvania, and Drew F. and wife Patti Smith of Lynn Haven, Florida; two daughters, Kristine L. Lutton of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Claudia L and Reverend Donald L. Shirk of Batavia, New York; thirteen grandchildren; one great grandson; two brothers, Robert W. Smith of Worthington, Pennsylvania, and Paul R. Smith of Clarion, Pennsylvania, and ten nieces and nephews.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by one sister, Martha J. Cumberland and one brother, Lawrence Smith.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Sunday, May 31, 2009 after church at noon and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Monday, June 1, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Donald Shirk of Grace Baptist Church of Batavia, New York and Reverend David Maitland of First Baptist Church of Butler officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Burial Estates.

Shirley Ann Hilliard

Shirley Ann Hilliard, age 77 of Butler, Pennsylvania, died May 27, 2009 at her home.
Born May 5, 1932 in Franklin Twp, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late Kenneth J. Kennedy and the late Lois Stewart Kennedy.
Mrs. Hilliard was a member of St. Andrew's United Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Hilliard was a homemaker and enjoyed reading, gardening, needlework, her animals and especially her family.
Mrs. Hilliard is survived by one son, Randolph Bruce Hilliard of Fairbanks, Alaska; two daughters, Susan and her husband Joseph Ragan of Prospect, Pennsylvania, Marjorie and her husband George Pavlinsky of Valencia, Pennsylvania; fourteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; one brother, Robert Kennedy of Butler, Pennsylvania and also by three sisters Nancy Cricks and her husband Rich, Mary Ragan of Florida and her twin sister, Sally Kraustok of Butler, Pennsylvania.
Mrs. Hilliard was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth R. Hilliard whom she marriage on March 14, 1951 and died April 8, 1998. Also by one son Harvey Kenneth Hilliard, by one grandson Joshua Davis and one brother Richard Kennedy.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Friday, May 29, 2009 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on May 30, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Merry H. Meloy of St. Andrews United Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Burial Estates.

Grant E Dillabaugh

Grant E Dillabaugh, age 91 of Becker Road, Butler, Pennsylvania, formerly of Sterling, Colorado died Thursday, May 21, 2009 at his home.
Born Thursday, August 2, 1917 in Sterling, Colorado, he was the son of the late Ellis Dillabaugh and the late Hazel Fisher.
Mr. Dillabaugh was a Mason Contractor for Dillabaugh Masonary from which he retired in 1988. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Mr. Dillabaugh is survived by two sons; Wayne and Ruth Dillabaugh of Butler, Pennsylvania, Dean and Kenya Dillabaugh of Jacksonboro, Tennessee; two daughter-in-laws, AliceJane Dillabaugh, Donna Dillabaugh; two brothers, Ellison Dillabaugh of Crown Point, Indiana, Donald Dillabaugh of Keene, New Hempshire; fifteen grandchildren, thirty-six great-grandchildren, four great-great-Grandchildren, eight nieces, and five nephews.
Mr. Dillabaugh was preceded in death by his wife, Lena Mae Dillabaugh who passed away May 1, 2006, two sons, Roy Dillabauch and Gary Dillabaugh; one brother Howard Dillabaugh and one sister Phyllis Ross.
Friends will be received at Calvary Baptist Church, 199 Great Belt Road, Butler, Pennsylvania 16001on May 23, 2009 between 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m.at Calvary Baptist Church with Reverend Joel Ward and Reverend Terry Osborne officiating. Interment will follow in Gruenwald Cemetery.

Doris H Texter, age 81 of Butler, Pennsylvania, formerly of Sheffield, Pennsylvania, died Friday, May 15, 2009 at 8:55 P.M. in the Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born Monday, May 14, 1928 in Sheffield, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Floyd T. Work and the late Esther Judge Work.
Mrs. Texter was a homemaker. She was a member of the Allegheny Bible Church in Tidioute, Pennsylvania, and also attended Community Alliance Church in Butler, Pennsylvania. She was an avid hunter and loved the outdoors. Mrs. Texter enjoyed photography, Blue Grass and Country Music and traveling, especially in the Florida Keys.
Mrs. Texter is survived by her daughter, Darla Bergbigler of Butler, Pennsylvania; four grandchildren, Lynnae Bergbigler, Evan Bergbigler, Tyler Bergbigler, Ryan Thompson, and one sister, Mrs. Betty Herman of Sheffield, Pennsylvania.
Mrs. Texter was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Texter who died December 12, 1985, by one grandson, PFC Scott Thompson and one brother Robert Work.
There will be no public visitation.
Memorial service will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Thursday, May 21, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Dennis L. Krajacic of the Community Alliance Church officiating.

Dale B. Fleming

Dale B. Fleming, 93, of Renfrew, Pennsylvania died May 12, 2009 at 4:55 p.m. in his home. Born December 26, 1915 in Concord Township, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Ross R. and Esther (Wilson) Fleming.
He has resided in Butler County all his life, He helped his father with his farming and their farm was known for their good potato crop. It was Dale's responsibility to truck their potato crop to the Market in Pittsburgh during the winter months. Dale graduated from Butler High School in 1933, and also attended Butler Business College.
Dale was always agriculture oriented throughout his life, from the days when he enjoyed his 4-H strawberry projects in his youth until he retired from the Big Butler Fair having been the secretary-treasurer of that organization for 30 years.. In addition to his contributions to the Butler Fair, he was also secretary treasurer of the Associated Milk Producers for over 30 years.
Dale was very active with Optimist International Club of Butler, served as President and the Organization received several awards during 1960's. He was also a 50 year member of the United Commercial Travelers. He was a member of St. John's Reformed Church
In 1978, he received the Bullshiper's Award from the Penn State Extension Office, for his active promotion of agriculture in the Butler County Community. In 1981, the Pennsylvania Department.of Agriculture Appreciation Award for his exemplary records of the Big Butler Fair. In 1981, he received the Friend of 4-H Award; in 1986, Friend of Junior Livestock Club. He instituted several youth awards in the Big Butler Fair Program..
After retiring from the Butler Fair, he raised and sold Registered Haflinger Horses, having two mares that were directly descended from the original Haflinger Horses brought to United States in 1957.
In 1981, he retired from Butler Armco after 14 years of employment with Armco.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph Fleming and Victor Flemming; two sisters, Ruth Biekert and Marie Fleming; four nephews, Porter Fleming, Arthur Biekert, Gary Flemming and Roger Boosel.
Survivors are his wife, Annabelle (Herold) Fleming, whom he marriage November 26, 1977, and his daughter, Rebecca Esther (Fleming) Oesterling and her husband John L. Oesterling, four step-daughters and their husbands, Sylvia and Larry Gucken, Northville, Michigan, Norma Jean and Chuck Norris II; Butler, Pennsylvania, Rose Marie and John Hanna, Butler, Pennsylvania, Pamela and David Wiltgen, Grand Junction, Colorado; One step-son, Roger Oesterling and his spouse, Mary of St. Petersburg, Florida.
Six Grandchildren; Kris-Ann (Oesterling) Wilcox and her husband, Dan; Unalaska, Alaska; Marsha (Oesterling) and her husband John Blum of Butler, Pennsylvanua, Paula (Oesterling) and John DeRunk, West Sunbury, Ryan and Elizabeth Oesterling, Elwood City, Pennsylvania; Sara Oesterling, Butler, Pennsylvania and Jane Oesterling. Twelve Great grandchildren: Esther Joy, Jadon and LydiaWilcox; Matthew Porter, Evan, Taylor and Victoria Blum; Hyland and Ameliah Oesterling, Rayn Oesterling, John Robert Finney and Ash-Lyn Renae Oesterling.
Ten Step-grandchildren: Sean, and Kevin Gucken, Mark and Scott Oesterling, Chuck III, Kelly,
and Darren Norris, Jason and Jesse Sheppeck and Erin (Gucken) Black and Seventeen Step-great grandchildren: Sean Patrick, Meghan and Jeffery Gucken, Max and Caia Black, Eric, Samuel, Isaac, and Alexander Oesterling, Chuck IV, Hydea, Nichole, Kaylee and Cassidy Norris, Hannah, Allee, and Emma Sheppeck.
Two brothers, Don Fleming and his wife, Marian of Butler, PA, Paul Flemming, Grove City,
Pennsylvania, and a sister, Jane Bortmas, West Sunbury, Pennsylvania Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Friday May 15, 2009 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held Saturday May 16, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. from St. John's Reformed Church with Reverend Dr. Robert C. Peterson officiating. Interment will be in Butler County Memorial Park.
Dorothy Scott Neel
July 3, 1919 - May 11, 2009
Dorothy Scott Neel, 89, died Monday, May 11, 2009 at Good Samaritan Hospice, Cabot, Pennsylvania. Born July 3, 1919 in Robinson Township, Allegheny County she was the daughter of the late Frank W. Scott and Nellie DeVassie Scott.
She graduated from Butler High in 1937 and from the Butler County Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1940. "Scotty" was a well-known registered nurse with experience in the operating room, in doctor's offices and in private duty. She was a member of Butler County Nurses' Alumnae Association, which voted her Butler County Nurse of the Year in 1983.
She enjoyed writing cards to friends and relatives, and her three nephews were her pride and joy- Jim Scott of Annville, Tom Scott of Dauphin, and Dave Scott of Mechanicsburg.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Roy S. Neel Jr. of Butler, whom she marriage November 4, 1950 and daughter Jean Scott Neel of Butler. Also surviving is her brother, John W. Scott of Mechanicsburg, a past master of PA State Grange and a past master of National Grange. Her only sister, Martha Grace Scott died May 4, 1963.
She was a member of Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church in Butler.
Private services will be held with interment in Greenlawn Burial Estates.
