James B. "Jimmie" Paterson III, age 63 of Butler, Pennsylvania, died Monday, May 11, 2009 at 3:06 p.m.
Born June 14, 1945 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania he was the son of James B. Paterson II and Jeanne (Anderson) Paterson Lang.
Jimmie was a Horse Trainer at CMM Equestrian Center in Cabot, Pennsylvania. He was graduated from Mars High School in 1963. He was an accomplished Arabian horse trainer. He trained successfully at many Arabian horse farms in the United States and Canada. Jim was very well known and respected in the Arabian horse community.
Jim is survived by his mother, Jeanne (Anderson) Paterson Lang of Mars, Pennsylvania; one sister, Diane P. Demblowski of Allison Park; and his beloved Karen L. Gerstner of Butler, Pennsylvania and two nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his father James Bruce Paterson II.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday, May 16, 2009 from 4 to 5:30 p.m.
Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Saturday, May 16, 2009 at 5:30 p.m.
All are welcome to come to a reception in celebration of Jim's life at CMM Equestrian Center in Cabot at 6:30 p.m.

LaVerne Protzman
January 10, 1929 - May 11, 2009
LaVerne R. Protzman age 80 of Fenelton, formerly of Protzman Road. Passed away Monday May 11, 2009 at 2:59 P.M. at the Good Samaritan Hospice at Concordia.
Born January 10, 1929 in Butler, Pennsylvania. He was the son of the late Carl Adam and Venus Elizabeth Brown Protzman.
Mr. Protzman retired in 1991 after 36 years from Armco Butler Works where he had worked in the Open Hearth and Melt Shop Departments. He previously owned a coal mine with his father and brother. Mr. Protzman was a lifelong member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church where he was a member of the Good News Bible Class, and served as an usher and was a former member of church council. LaVerne was a 1948 graduate of Butler High School and served in Korea from 1951-1953 with the 27th Ordnance Maintenance Company of the 1st Cavalry. He was a life member of the Joseph T. Black Post # 249 of the V.F.W. He belonged to the National Rifle Association. He was a charter member of the Saxonburg Lions Club and the Happy Hunters Sportsman's Club. Mr. Protzman loved hunting, canoeing, woodworking, traveling, and enjoying his family at the home he had built and the camp he had remodeled in Kinzua.
He is survived by his wife: Shirley A. Fair Protzman, whom he marriage on December 30, 1954. One son: Dwight L. Protzman and his wife Linda Paytas Protzman of Saxonburg. Two daughters: Mrs. Roseann Protzman Morrow and her husband Randall G. Morrow of Fenelton, and Kathleen Protzman LaSota and her husband David W. LaSota II of Patton; three grandsons Grant Randall Morrow, Lucas Verne Morrow, and Elijah David LaSota, three granddaughters: Jessica Lynn Protzman, Hannah Katherine LaSota, and Emily Nicole Protzman and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: Eugene R. and Carl M. Protzman
Friends and family of LaVerne R. Protzman, who died May 11, 2009 will be received at the chapel of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church 201 West Jefferson St. Butler, PA on Tuesday May 12, 2009 from 7 to 9 P.M. and on Wednesday May 13, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. and on Thursday May 14, 2009 one hour prior to services.
Funeral services will be held in the main sanctuary of the church on Thursday May 14, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. with the Rev. Dr, Alden Towberman of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating.
Interment will follow in the Gruenwald Cemetery, Summit Township.
Officers and members of both the American Legions and VFW will conduct military services at the Cemetery.
Robert P. Armahizer

Robert P. Armahizer, age 85 of 117 Becker Road, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Sunday, May 10, 2009 at 7:20 a.m. in the Good Samaritan Hospice at Concordia.
Born October 30, 1923 in Adrian, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Charles and Luella Clever Armahizer.
Mr. Armahizer was a mill worker for Pangborn and he retired at the age of 62. He was a veteran of the Army Air Corp during World War II.
Mr. Armahizer is survived by his wife, Luella C. Armahizer; four sons, James R. Armahizer of Butler, Pennsylvania, David C. Armahizer of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Robert J. Armahizer of Butler, Pennsylvania and Ronald E. Armahizer of Saxonburg, Pennsylvania; three daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Judy) Cehelsky of Butler, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Larry (Nancy) Krajnikovich of Meridian, Pennsylvania and Mrs. James (Donna) Barnett of Hermitage, Tennessee; fourteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren, two half-brothers, Jerry Wolfe of New Castle, Pennsylvania and Richard Wolfe of Butler, Pennsylvania; and by one half-sister, Linda Black of Butler, Pennsylvania.
Mr. Armahizer was preceded in death by his granddaughter and his great granddaughter, one brother, one sister and one half-brother.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, May 12, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
Services will be held at the St. Mary's of Assumption Church on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Ward of St. Mary's of Assumption Church officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary's of Assumption Church Cemetery.

Toni E. Chavis age 52, of Hansen Ave. Lyndora, Pennsylvania, passed away Saturday May 9, 2009 at in her home.
Born May 3, 1957 in Kittanning, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Donald W .Butler and Naomi J.(Tomko) Bouch.
She was a graduate of Butler High School.
She is survived by her mother Naomi J. (Tomko) Bouch of North Washington, Pennsylvania, three brothers; Michael A. Butler of Butler, Pennsylvania, Dale K. Butler of Prospect, Pennsylvania and John A. Tomko of Lyndora, Pennsylvania, two sisters: Barbara J. Butler of North Washington, Pennsylvania, Jacquelyne M. Cole of Munhall, Pennsylvania, and eight nieces and four nephews.
Visitation will be at the Optimism Shelter at Butler Memorial Park on Saturday May 16, 2009 from 4 to 6 p.m
Willard H. Holmes

Willard H. Holmes, age 95 of Sunnyview Home, Butler, Pennsylvania, formerly of Westwood Manor died Friday, May 8, 2009 at 9:20 a.m. in the Sunnyview Home.
Born July 13, 1913 in Fenelton, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Wallace Holmes and the late Ella Fennell Holmes.
Mr. Holmes was a sub-station operator for Armco. He was a life member and the oldest living member of Fenelton United Methodist Church He was a former member of Butler City Hunting and Fishing Club. Mr. Holmes was a life member of the Happy Hunter Sportsman Club of Fenelton, Pennsylvania. He was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Mr. Holmes enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He was an alumni of Butler High School class of 1931.
Mr. Holmes is survived by his wife, Ruth Reed Holmes whom he marriage in 1935; three daughters, Mrs. David (Betty J.) Cumberland of Butler, Mrs. Howard (Gladys R.) Graham of Butler and Mrs. Joseph (Debra L.) Simco of Bellefonte, Pennsylvania; five grandchildren, Jacquelyn and husband Daniel Pietrowski, Laura and husband Daniel Nichol, Jeffrey and wife Susan Cumberland, Sherry and husband Stephen Collins; Michelle and husband Rick Gladd, thirteen great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Holmes was preceded in death by one infant son, three brothers, and one sister.

Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor David Maitland of First Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Butler County Memorial Park.

Marie Katherine Clapper Age 24 of Garden Grove Drive. Butler, Pennsylvania 16001 formerly of Wilkins Twp, passed away Friday May 1, 2009 in her home.
Born in Monroeville, Pennsylvania September 7, 1984, she was the daughter of David F. Clapper and Sandra R. Ireland Clapper
Marie liked watching game shows especially Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. She also enjoyed Winnie the Pooh. She loved the color purple
After moving to butler she attended Clarence Brown School.
In addition to her parents she is survived by two brothers: David F. Clapper Jr. of Butler and Kevin M. Clapper at home. one sister; Erica L. Clapper at home. two nephews Tyler and Caleb Clapper of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Evelyn M. Buol
August 30, 1924 ~ June 29, 2009
Evelyn M. Buol passed peacefully surrounded by the love of her entire family on Monday evening (6/29/09) at 9:30 p.m. in the Sunnyview Home.
Born August 30, 1924 in Butler, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of James H. Forrester and Blanche Allen Forrester.
Her husband and devoted partner of 57 years, John R. Buol, passed way October 13, 2000. Also preceding her in death were a daughter, Patricia Ann (Buol) Baker, and a grandson, Zachary Michael Osche; five brothers and sisters also preceded her in death Betty H. Moore, Jean Nicklas, Mary Roth, James (Tucker) Forrester; and Donald Forrester.
Mrs. Buol was a member of Meridian United Presbyterian Church; she was very active in the choir and a Sunday school teacher. She was also very well known for her musical talent, singing in the vocal group...The "We Three Trio" in the 50's and 60's. Her family was the center of her world. She made great french toast and was always sewing dresses and costumes for her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by three daughters: Kathy Gregory-Steiner and her husband Stan of Butler, Pennsylvania, Pamela Warford and her husband Lawrence of Copley Ohio and Leslie Osche and her husband James of Butler, Pennsylvania. Also surviving are seven grandchildren: Dawn M Grochalski her husband Ernie of Butler, Pennsylvania, John L. Gregory and his wife Tiffany of Butler, Pennsylvania, Jessica L Gregory-Thiel and husband Rich of Butler, Pennsylvania; Daniel M Warford and his wife Kelly of Garden City Beach, South Carolina, Jacqueline A. Warford of Copley, Ohio and Joshua W Osche and Nathan J. Osche both of Butler. Pennsylvania. Five great grandchildren: Elijah Grochalski and Colton John Gregory of Butler; Zara Warford of Copley, Ohio, Maddox and Kadence Warford of Garden City Beach, South Carolina. Also surviving a sister Ruth Forrester Sattler of Pineville, Pennsylvania.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania 16001 on Thursday July 2, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the Trinity Lutheran Church on Friday July 3, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. with Patrick Maier officiating. Interment will follow at Butler County Memorial Park.
