Blanche Elizabeth Miller, age 95 of Passavant Retirement Home in Zelienople, where she was a resident for 18 years, died Saturday, July 11, 2009 at 12:40 p.m. in the Passavant Retirement Home.
Born April 22, 1914 in Unionville, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Elzie Cooper and the late Iva Miller Cooper.
Mrs. Miller was a member of Park United Presbyterian Church in Zelienople. She worked for W.T. Grant, Company retiring after 29 years of service. Mrs. Miller enjoyed traveling and reading.
Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her husband, Carl F. Miller whom she marriage on August 29, 1963. He passed away on May 12, 1975. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Rachael Cratty.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 from 10:00-12:00.
Services will be held at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home on Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. with Reverend Matthew Kail of Unionville United Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Sharon Kay Garlow, age 65 of Butler, Pennsylvania, formerly of Royal Oak Michigan died July 8, 2009 at 10:49 a.m. in the Passavant Retirement Center, Zelienople, Pennsylvania.
Born July 2, 1944 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Bruce Walbridge Ferres and the late Dorotha Elizabeth Logan Ferres of Kokomo, Indiana.
Received her masters in social work (MSW) from Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan in 1996.
Ms. Garlow was a retired social worker for McComb County, Michigan. She was Roman Catholic by faith. She liked singing and dancing.
Ms. Garlow is survived by one daughter, Melinda Garlow Baker of Jackson Hole, Wyoming; four sons, Larry Nutt II of Utica, Michigan, Michael Nutt of Harrison, Michigan, Timothy Garlow of Marquette, Michigan, and Jeffery Nutt of Marquette, Michigan; two sisters, Kathleen S. Treme of Butler, Pennsylvania, with whom she made her home and received her care. Jeanne Kauffman of Terre Haute, Indiana; and one brother, James B. and (Mae) Ferres, Indiana; nine grandchildren, and one great grandson; nine nieces and seven nephews and a number of great nieces and nephews..
Ms. Garlow was preceded in death by one daughter, Melissa D. Nutt, November 1967.
Services will be held in Michigan at family's convenience.

Mildred Mae Dilliplane, age 92 of, Masonic Village, Sewickley, Pennsylvania died 6:20 A.M. on Saturday, July 4, 2009 at Masonic Village, Sewickley, Pennsylvania.
Born December 19, 1916 in Shamokin, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late Walter Scott and the late Mae Foster Scott.
Mrs. Dilliplane was a Homemaker. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania.
Mrs. Dilliplane is survived by one son, Donald E. and wife Evie Dilliplane of Atlanta, Georgia; one daughter, Mildred Mae and husband Marlin Pentz of Valencia, Pennsylvania; four grandchildren; Mark and Cheri Pentz, Donald and Karen Dilliplane, Melissa and Tod Wirtz, Colleen and Vince Young; nine great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Dilliplane was preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Dilliplane who passed away in 1973; four sisters, Doris Randall, Martha Henry, Phyllis and Lorraine Shaffer; one brother William Scott and one granddaughter, Michelle Dilliplane.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Bessie M. Daugherty Tirk

Bessie M. Daugherty Tirk age 92 of Brown Road Butler, Pennsylvania 16001 entered peacefully into her eternal rest Friday July 3, 2009 at 4:15 P.M in her granddaughter and grandson in law, Tracy and John Saul's home surrounded by her family.
She was born January 31, 1917 in Langloth, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of the late Charles A. Daugherty and Laurissa Virtue Daugherty.
Mrs. Tirk was a homemaker and a member of The Butler Assembly of God Church.
She was marriage to William M.E. Tirk. on February 21, 1933 . He preceded her in death on May 25, 1993. She is survived by three sons: William E. Tirk, George R. Tirk and his wife Mary and Joseph L. Tirk and his wife Kay all of Butler, Pennsylvania ; two daughters: Mrs. Jane Waldenmyer and her husband Ronald and Mrs. Reta Shuler and her husband James both of Butler, Pennsylvania; twelve grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, eight great -great grandchildren.
Friends will be received at The Thompson-Miller Funeral Home Inc. 124 East North St. Butler, Pennsylvania16001 on Monday July 6, 2009 from 7 to 9 P.M.
Funeral Services will follow at 9:00 P.M. with the Rev. George Miller of The Butler Assembly of God Church officiating.
Interment will follow in The Greenlawn Burial Estates Mt. Chestnut, Pennsylvania.
Joseph L. "Joe" McEvoy

Joseph L. "Joe" McEvoy, of Lumar Village, formerly of Nulph Lane in Butler passed away on Thursday, July 02, 2009 at 1:15 p.m. at the Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born in Herman, Pennsylvania on September 6, 1931 he was the son of the late Joseph S. and Mildred (Denny) McEvoy.
Joe was Roman Catholic by faith. He served in the Air Force as a heavy equipment operator in Korea during the Korean War. Joe started his working career as a tool dresser on a gas well in Renovo, Pennsylvania, then worked as a truck driver, owning his own trucks hauling cars, coal and steel for various companies. He also owned a mobile home toter (shanty shaker) and moved mobile homes. He then went to Groton, Connecticut to work on atomic submarines at Electric Boat as a painter, cleaner and on the nuclear decontamination crew. Joe then worked for Linde Aire, a division of Union Carbide. He delivered oxygen and nitrogen and retired from this company while working in Hatfield, Pennsylvania.
Joe was a member of the VFW Post #249 in Butler, the American Legion Post 778 and the Slovak Club in Lyndora. He enjoyed traveling, camping, visiting with family and friends. Joe always kept busy either fixing things around his home or creating something out of odds and ends. He loved going to Florida for the winter where he could ride his bicycle. Joe was also known for his unique sense of humor.
Joe is survived by his wife Carol Nulph McEvoy whom he marriage on December 3, 1976, by four daughters, Dr. Patti (Mohammed) Jamil of Houston, Texas, Anita (Dick) Suiter of Panama City, Florida, Joy Powers of Leakey, Texas and Jean (Leon) Mountz of Gastonia, North Carolina, by seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Joe is also survived by three step-children, Richard Humphreys of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Karen (Michael) Monday of Butler, Pennsylvania, and Edward Humphreys of Seattle, Washington, by five step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters, Rita Allan of Oakmont, Pennsylvania, Mary Lorene "Renie" (Robert) Green of Butler, Pennsylvania, Regina "Jean" (John) Baker of Buffalo, New York and by numerous nieces and nephews.
Joe was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Hesky and a brother James McEvoy.
A memorial service will be held at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Wednesday July 8, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Father Steven Neff of St. Pauls Roman Catholic Church officiating. His family will receive friends one hour prior to memorial services.
Military honors at the graveside will be accorded by Butler VFW Post 249 and American Legion 778.

Richard C. (Dick) Raabe

Richard C. (Dick) Raabe, age 64 of Prospect, Pennsylvania, died Thursday, July 2, 2009 at 11:22 a.m. in the Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born in New Castle, Pennsylvania he was the son of the Charles Adam Raabe and Mildred E. McCracken Raabe.
Mr. Raabe was Presbyterian by faith. He started as a machinist at Butler Armco and then advanced to superintendent of central maintenance of Butler Armco where he retired in 1996. Mr. Raabe enjoyed his grandchildren, hunting, fishing, golf and gardening. He also enjoyed his family camp, and graduated in 1962 from Butler High School.
Mr. Raabe is survived by his wife Judy Kinzer Raabe whom he marriage March 19, 1965 and by four sons David and his wife Angela Raabe of Christiana, Pennsylvania, Daniel and his wife Molly Raabe of Fenelton, Pennsylvania, Jeff and wife Michelle Raabe of Mars, Pennsylvania, and Douglas and his wife Sherry Raabe of Rimersburg, Pennsylvania; nine grandchildren, Justin, Jim, Bailey, Andrew, Nick, David, Morgan, Lexie, and Tyler; one great grandson Brydon; his mother Mildred E. Raabe of Butler, Pennsylvania; one sister Judith and her husband Gaylon DeVries of Fredericksburg, Virginia, two nieces and three nephews.

Paul Leroy Riemer, age 77 of W. Rockenstein Avenue, Butler, Pennsylvania, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, July 18, 2009 at 10:10 in his home.
Born May 2, 1932 in Cabot, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late William Riemer and the late Catherine Reinhold Riemer.
Mr. Riemer was a member of Christ's Outreach Church. He was a machinist for Armco now AK Steel. Mr. Riemer was a member of the Armco Bowling League. He enjoyed golfing and bowling. He was a former member of the church board, made CD's of the church sermons and visited the shut-ins. Mr. Riemer enjoyed his family and grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling to the Smoky Mountains.
Mr. Riemer is survived by his wife, Helen D. Riemer whom he marriage on September 27, 1951, one son, Thomas Riemer and his wife Gayle of Edgewood, Kentucky, two daughters, .Shirley Schultz and her husband Steve of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Marlene Dickson and her husband Richard of Butler, Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren, Brian Schultz of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Andy Riemer and his fianc�e Mandee Mundrick of Edgewood, Kentucky, Teresa RiemerSmith and her husband Lee, of Louisville, Kentucky, Ryan, Rebecca and Richie Dickson of Butler, Pennsylvania; three great-grandchildren, Morgan Kaye, Olivia and Evan Schultz of Fort Wayne. Indiana, one sister Mrs. Anna Jean Richards and her husband Thomas of Seven Fields, Pennsylvania and number of nieces and nephews.

Alva Edwards "Eddie" Cress

Alva Edward "Eddie" Cress, age 77 of Concordia formerly of Sandy Point Road, Emlenton, Pennsylvania, died Saturday, July 18, 2009 at 11:20 p.m. in the Concordia.
Born December 20, 1931 in Mercer County, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Nelson L. Cress and the late Clara E. Messmer Cress.
Mr. Cress was a member of St. Marks Evangelical Church. He was a Electrician for Butler Armco Steel retiring May 1991 after 39 1/2 years. Mr. Cress is a veteran of the US Army and Korean War serving in the infantry and was awarded the Purple Heart and Combat Infantry Badge. He was a lifetime member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, 2nd Infantry Division and the 23rd Infantry Regiment. He also was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #249, Disable American Veterans (DAV), American Legion Post #778 Michael Kosar, William H. Miller Lodge #769 F & AM, the AASR Valley of New Castle. Mr. Cress was a member of the United Bow Hunters and the Oneida Bow Hunters and past president of the Keystone Squares.
Mr. Cress is survived by two sons, Jeffrey E. Cress of Butler, Pennsylvania, and John N. Cress of Chicora, Pennsylvania
Mr. Cress was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon R. Cress who passed away on June 23, 2003 and also by two sisters.
