Nettie B. Swigart, 75 formerly of Morton Avenue, Butler, died Sunday, April 18, 2004 at 9:30 a.m. at the Y.M.C.A.
Born March 3, 1929 in Ottawa, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Alfred Day Swigart and Anna Hetrick Swigart.
Miss Swigart was a 1947 graduate of Butler High School and a 1950 graduate of Butler County Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse being employed at Butler Hospital, Deshon Veterans Hospital, Aspinwall V.A., Seattle V.A., Cleveland V.A. and many years for the Butler Veterans Hospital.
Miss Swigart is survived by a brother Alfred Dale Swigart of Butler, and a sister Joan Swigart of Gallup, New Mexico. Also surviving, her nieces Amy Swigart and Lynn Large of Butler, Dr. Valerie Swigart of Pittsburgh, Susan Lichacz of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Deborah Bergun and Diane Beauchamp of Newark, Delaware, her nephews, Joel Swigart of Butler, Jeffery Fisher of Newark, Delaware and Garrison Swigart of North Carolina.
Miss Swigart is preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.
There will be no public visitation. A memorial service will be announced at a later time.

Verna Y. (Kennedy) Faust
August 18, 1932 - April 18, 2004
Verna Y. (Kennedy) Faust, 71 of Henricks Road, Butler, died Sunday, April 18, 2004 at 6:50 a.m. in Shadyside Hospital.
Born August 18, 1932 in Mars, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Crawford L. Kennedy and Jane M. Cashdollar.
Mrs. Faust retired from United Food and Commercial Workers Local 23 in 1989. She had worked for the following; Thorofare, Kroger, Food Arena and Barkus Bakery. She had also worked for the Kennedy Farm Market in Center Township. Mrs. Faust was a charter member of Westminster PCA in Butler, Pennsylvania. She was active in camping organizations, Good Time Ramblers, FMCA Executive East Pioneers and Holiday Rambler Diesel Pushers.
Mrs. Faust is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Virginia (Ginny) and Ken Yelland of Butler, Pennsylvania, Debra (Deb) and Bill Saporetti of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, two grandchildren, Emily Catherine Saporetti and Gary William Saporetti of Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
Mrs. Faust marriage her husband L. Gary Faust on June 21, 1952; he preceded her in death on April 24, 2003.
Friends will be received at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, PA, on Tuesday, April 20, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., Wednesday, April 21, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Michael L. Harvey officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Nellie F. Jones
February 7, 1923 - April 17, 2004
Nellie F. Jones, 81 of formerly of Middle River in Baltimore, Maryland, died Saturday, April 17, 2004 at 10:45 p.m. at Chicora Medical Center.
Born February 7, 1923 in Carroll County, Maryland, she was the daughter of Harvey Munshaur and Gertrude Lease.
Mrs. Jones retired from the credit department for Montgomery Wards, Baltimore, Maryland. She was protestant by faith. She was an avid bowler. She graduated from Mount Airy High School, Mount Airy, Maryland. Through the years she resided in Mount Airy, New Windsor, Lisbon, Middle River in Baltimore, Maryland before moving to Chicora Medical Center in Chicora.
Mrs. Jones is survived by one son, Wayne McArthur Smith of Mars, Pennsylvania, three grand-daughters, Britta and Brad Manges of Mars, Pennsylvania, Marissa and Keira Smith of Mars, Pennsylvania, two sisters, Mrs. Dolly Dayhoff of Lisbon, Maryland, Mrs. Mary Josephine Coady of Frederick, Maryland, three brothers, Kenneth Munshaur, Lawrence Munshaur, Alton Munshaur all of New Windsor, Maryland, daughter-in-law, Sheila Cress Smith, three sister-in-law, Jane Smith Beaver of Frederick, Maryland, Lorraine Smith Ridgely and husband Charles of Mount Airy, Maryland, Charlotte Smith Mullinix and husband Richard of Woodbine, Maryland, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Jones is preceded in death by her first husband Edgar Smith, Jr. and her second husband, Francis Jones.
Friends will be received at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home, Inc., 1212 West Old Liberty, Winfield, Maryland on Friday, April 23, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home, 1212 West Old Liberty, Winfield, Maryland, Saturday, April 24, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend O. F. "Bud" Kibbe officiating. Interment will follow in Moreland Memorial Park, Baltimore, Maryland.

Helen Erma Benton, 83 of East Butler, died Friday, April 16, 2004 at 12:55 p.m. at her residence.
Born August 19, 1920 in Kittanning, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of William Rogers McCollum and Effie May Bowser.
She was a homemaker. Mrs. Benton is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Richard H. and Dale Benton of East Butler, Pennsylvania, one sister, Mrs. Robert (Maxine) Cunningham of Michigan, five grandchildren; Kevin R. Fuller, Charles R. Benton, Billy Benton, Tommy Benton, and Timmy Benton, ten great-grandchildren; Stephen Parks, Mackenzie Fuller, Sonny Fuller, Dalton Benton, Benjamin Benton, Leah Benton, Lauren Benton, Brittany Benton, Abigail Benton and Megan Benton, and by a niece, Shelly Di Nunzio, and a nephew and his wife, Ken and Phyllis Thompson.
Mrs. Benton was preceded in death by her husband Homer R. Benton, who passed away on November 16, 1983, by a son and two brothers.

Fern Elizabeth Heyer, 98 of the Terrace Apartments, Butler, died Sunday, April 11, 2004 at 12:45 p.m. in Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born October 26, 1905 in Natrona, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Bertram C. Smith and Bessie Mae Hughes.
Mrs. Heyer was a homemaker. She was a member of Homeacre Chapel Church. Mrs. Heyer was an honorary member of the Butler City Fire Department.
Mrs. Heyer is survived by five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. John (Betty) Devlin of Arnold, Pennsylvania, three brothers, John Smith of Lower Burrell, Pennsylvania, Richard Smith of Sarver, Pennsylvania, Bertram (Junior) Smith of Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband Charles Dufford and John W. Heyer, one son, Brady Dufford, one daughter, Garnet Stewart, one grand-daughter, Margaret Stewart, four sisters and one brother.
Friends will be received at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania, on Tuesday, April 13, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Mary S. Rath, 85 of Rath Lane, Renfrew, died Tuesday, April 6, 2004 at 11:12 a.m. in Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh.
Born May 27, 1918 in Brooklyn, New York, she grew up in the Ben Avon area and then moved to southern Butler County in 1960. She was the daughter of the late Charles Stratford and Violet Griffin.
Mrs. Rath was a homemaker. She attended the North Street Christian Church. She was formerly a secretary with Union National Bank in Pittsburgh. Mrs. Rath was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels in Butler and for St. John's Home in Mars, Pennsylvania.
Mrs. Rath is survived by her husband Robert A. Rath, whom she marriage on May 17, 1947, by two sons, Robert A. Rath, Jr. of Mars, Pennsylvania, and Charles S. Rath of Renfrew, Pennsylvania, by four grandchildren, Angela D. Rath, Benjamin A. Rath, Jason C. Rath, Taylor S. Rath, and one sister, Leta Gilbert of Fairfield Glen, Tennessee.
Private services will be held by the family. Interment will follow in North Side Cemetery.
