June Reddick, age 86, of Sunnyview Home, formerly of Third Street, Butler, Pennsylvania, died at 11:30 p.m. in the Sunnyview Home on Wednesday, October 28, 2009.
Born October 18, 1923 in Butler, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late John A. Greer and Garnet Goughler Greer.
Mrs. Reddick had been a salesperson at the Butler K-Mart in the Photo Department, retiring in 1988 after 15 years. She was a member of First English Lutheran Church, where she was an active volunteer.
Mrs. Reddick is survived by one sister, Emma M. Miller of Butler, Pennsylvania; two nieces, Valerie June Burke of Fredericksburg, Virginia, and Patty Stevenson of Butler, Pennsylvania; one great nephew, Patrick Stevenson of Butler, Pennsylvania; two great nieces, Allison Carinci of Fredericksburg, Virginia, and Karissa Stevenson of Butler, Pennsylvania. A number of step grandchildren and step great grandchildren also survive.
Mrs. Reddick was preceded in death by her husband, Harold M. Reddick, who passed away June 1, 1969. She was also preceded in death by one sister and one brother.
By request of the family, there will be no public visitation.
Services will be held at the First English Lutheran Church on November 7, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend James W. Dollhopf of First English Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will follow in Butler County Memorial Park.

Erla Mae Sholtis
June 28, 1921 ~ October 27, 2009
Erla Mae Sholtis, age 88, of Butler, formerly of Beall Drive in Whitehall, Allegheny County, died on October 27, 2009 at 2:45 a.m. at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born June 28, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Floyd E. Gregg and Ida Mary Ditmore.
Mrs. Sholtis had been a salesperson for Kaufmann's Department Store at South Hills Village in Pittsburgh, retiring in 2005 after 18 years. Mrs. Sholtis had many interests in her life and traveled extensively with her late husband to many of his U.S. Navy reunions. She also enjoyed her family.
Mrs. Sholtis is survived by her son, William T. Bennett and his wife, Marcia, of Butler; her daughter, Nancy C. and her husband, Richard Bowser of Lorain, Ohio; four grandchildren, Colby Smith of Wexford, Carrie Minton of Butler, Kenneth Bowser and Kevin Bowser of Lorain, Ohio; four great grandchildren, Dustin Byerly of Montplier, Vermont, Cayce Smith of Wexford, Carly Porter of State College, and Bennett Porter of Butler; two brothers, Charles R. Gregg and Larry E. Gregg of Butler; and six nieces, five nephews, and two great great grandsons.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sholtis was preceded in death by her husband, George A. Sholtis, who passed away in June 2002.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Thursday, October 29, 2009 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Services will be held at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Thursday, October 29 at 4:00 p.m. with Reverend Merry H. Meloy of St. Andrews United Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will follow in Jefferson Memorial Cemetery.
Caleb (Jack) Bowen

Caleb (Jack) Bowen, age 83 of Butler, Pennsylvania, died Monday, October 26, 2009 at 3:30 a.m. in the Good Samaritan Hospice at Concordia.
Born May 8, 1926 in Butler, he was the son of John M. Bowen and Edith M. (Hageman) Bowen.
Mr. Bowen was an employee of the processing maintenance department for Armco Steel, retiring in 1988 after 40 years. He was a life member of VFW #249, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of New Castle. Mr. Bowen was a World War II veteran in the 84th Field Artillery Battalion.
Mr. Bowen is survived by his wife, Janet (Somerville) McCandless, whom he marriage on June 25, 1976; four sons: Ron Bowen and his wife, Carol, of Haymarket, Virginia; Randy Bowen and his wife, Laura, of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania; Jackie Bowen of Butler, and Mark McCandless and his wife, Carol, of Butler; three daughters: Patti Selfridge and her husband, Michael, of Butler; Joyce McCandless of Butler, Barbara Jansen and her husband, Al, of Alexandria, Virginia; ten grandchildren: Renee Peterson, Ryan Bowen, Megan Bowen, Derek Bowen, Holly Jansen, Sean Jensen, Stephen Selfridge, Sarah O'Donnell, Khristy McCandless and David McCandless; as well as eight great grandchildren: Kayla, Marcus, Zachary, Macy, Ava, Sydney, Cole and Kiley; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Bowen was preceded in death by his first wife, Opal (Catt) Bowen, who passed away in February 1975, and also by two sisters, Cora Mae Zorb, and Idellene Bowen; and one brother, Elmer Bowen.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Thursday, October 29, 2009 from 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday, October 30, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Kurt Knoebel of Thorn Creek United Methodist Church officiating and assisting will be Mary Lee Harmon, niece of Mr. Bowen. Interment will follow in Summit Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Darlene L. Sequete

Darlene L. Sequete, age 67 of Butler, Pennsylvania, went home to be with her Lord on October 25, 2009 at 7:14 a.m. as a result of an automobile accident.
Born December 30, 1941 in Butler, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late John G. Laughner, Sr. and Alva Mae Weir Laughner.
Darlene was a registered nurse, graduating from Butler School of Nursing in 1962. She worked in outpatient surgery at Butler Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1997. She most recently worked at Mitra Arthritis. She was a member of the Nurses Alumni of Butler Memorial Hospital, and she helped with Meals on Wheels in Butler. Darlene was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Butler since 1964, but recently had been baptized was worshipping and intending to become a member of Community Alliance Church with her family. Darlene enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and her beloved dog, Toby.
Darlene was preceded in death by her husband, Carmen Sequete, who she marriage on April 27, 1984.
Darlene is survived by a daughter, Robin E. and husband, Dale Swidzinski of Butler; two sons, David H. Tack, Jr. and Eric L. Tack and wife Jody, both of Butler, three granddaughters, Ashley Tack, Maura Swidzinski and Katie Knights of Butler; one grandson, Dylan Swidzinski of Butler, two brothers Ed and Jack and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Service will be held at the Community Alliance Church on Thursday, October 29, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Dennis L. Krajacic of Community Alliance Church officiating.

Julia A. Krene, age 88 of Carpenter Dam Road, Hot Springs National Park, Arkansas, died Saturday, October 24, 2009 at the Pine Nursing & Rehab Center.
Born December 13, 1920 in Butler, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Mack Krene and Anna Wujcik.
Julia was employed as a benefits representative for the Chrysler Corporation, retiring in 1980 after 37 years. She was a member of St. Marks Evangelical Lutheran Church of Butler, and she was a member of Friends of Butler Public Library.
Julia is survived by three nieces and one nephew.
Julia was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, and two brothers.

Robert O. Solkovy

Robert O. Solkovy, Sr., age 85, formerly of Linsdale Drive, Butler, Pennsylvania, died October 21, 2009 at 2:20 p.m at Orchard Manor, Grove City, Pennsylvania .
Born January 13, 1924 in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Albert Solkovy and Ida Laglar Solkovy.
Mr. Solkovy Sr. attended St. Fidelis Catholic Church. He was a certified public accountant, and owner of R.O. Solkovy and Associates, retiring April 15, 2003. Mr. Solkovy was a veteran of the U.S. Army 17th Airborne Paratroopers serving in World War II.
Mr. Solkovy Sr. is survived by his son, Robert O.Solkovy, Jr. and his wife Terri, of Butler, Pennsylvania; two grandchildren, Shauna Christine McChesney and her husband, Ben, of Butler, Pennsylvania; and Melissa Erin Solkovy of Butler, Pennsylvania; one sister, Mrs. James (Elise) Farland of Monaca, Pennsylvania; one brother, Richard Solkovy, of Pennsylvania. and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr Solkovy Sr. was preceded in death by his wife, Martha (Heuler) Solkovy, who passed away June 7, 2009, and one son, John K. Solkovy, one sister, and one brother.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Monday, October 26, 2009 from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 27, 2009 from 10:00 to 12:00 p.m.
Funeral service will be held at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at 12:00 noon with Dr. Robert C. Peterson of St. John's Reformed Church officiating. Inurnment will take place in the Chapel of Devotion Mausoleum at Butler County Memorial Park.

John R. "Spook" Doutt

John R. "Spook" Doutt, age 77, of Butler, Pennsylvania, died Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at his residence.
Born February 7, 1932 in Renfrew, Pennsylvania, he was the son of William R. Doutt and Clair Irene Martin Doutt.
Mr. Doutt was a ladle crane operator in the melt shop for Butler Armco, retiring in 1991. Mr. Doutt was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Korean War. He was Protestant by faith.
Mr. Doutt is survived by one son, Timothy R. Doutt of Butler, Pennsylvania; two daughters, Sherry and her husband, Mike Conklin of Butler, Pennsylvania; Dawn Double of Butler, Pennsylvania; numerous granchildren and great grandchildren. Also surviving is his mother, Clair Irene Doutt of Butler, Pennsylvania; his sister, Janet Eileen, and her husband, Paul Graham of Carlisle, Pennsylvania; two brothers, Richard and his wife, Esther Doutt of Butler, Pennsylvania, and Gary Doutt of Butler, Pennsylvania. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.
John was preceded in death by his father and four brothers, William, Jr., Norman, Terrance, and George Doutt.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday, October 24, 2009 from 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m.
In accordance with Mr. Doutt's wishes, there will be no funeral service.
