Mary Elizabeth "Lib" Conklin, age 85, of Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Butler, Pennsylvania, formerly of Unionville Road, Butler, died November 5, 2009 at 4:30 p.m. in the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born August 22, 1924 in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late James Marsh Perry and Mary Kiger Perry Davis.
Mrs. Conklin was a homemaker and a licensed beautician. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. Mrs. Conklin loved bowling, traveling and dancing.
Mrs. Conklin is survived by her husband, John R. Conklin, Jr. whom she marriage on June 22, 1942; four sons, Robert Conklin of Butler; James Conklin of Denver, Colorado; William (Doug) Conklin of Butler; and Mike Conklin of Butler. Also surviving are ten grandchildren, six cousins, and a number of nieces and nephews, many residing in the Waynesburg area. One brother-in-law, Joe Conklin of Waynesburg, two sisters-in-law, Pat Hrutkay of Coal Center, Pennsylvania and Jane Conklin of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania also survive.
There will be no public visitation and a private memorial service will be held by the family.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church 200 East North St. Butler, Pennsylvania 16001 or to the American Cancer Society, Greater Pittsburgh, 320 Bilmar Drive, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15205.
John W. "Jack" Petsinger
June 23, 1922 ~ November 21, 2009
John W. "Jack" Petsinger, age 87 of Thornwood Drive, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Saturday, November 21, 2009 at 4:06 p.m. at his residence.
Born June 23, 1922 in Butler, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Harry M. Petsinger, Sr. and the late Bertha Catherine Smith.
Mr. Petsinger was a member of the First English Lutheran Church.
He was a safety inspector and safety advisor for Butler Armco following 60 years of service. Mr. Petsinger was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous for 40 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He enlisted in 1942. He obtained an honorary discharge in 1946 as a Second Class Gunners Mate. He served on a Merchant Ship in the Pacific and Atlantic theatres and in the African and Asia and Indian Oceans. Mr. Petsinger also served as a Second Class Gunners Mate on L.S.T. landing Ship during the Okinawa invasion of 1945.
Mr. Petsinger is survived by his daughter, Mrs. John (Carol Lynn) Grystar of Butler, Pennsylvania; his son, Gary John Petsinger of Butler, Pennsylvania; four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; and by a brother, James L. Petsinger.
Mr. Petsinger was preceded in death by his wife, Helen L. (Hindman) Petsinger, who was deceased November 16, 1997. One son, William M. Petsinger, a sister, Mary Ann Napora and by two brothers, Robert "Bob" Petsinger and Harry M. Petsinger also preceded him in death.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend James W. Dollhopf of First English Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will follow in North Side Cemetery.
By the request of Jack, memorial donations may be made to the First English Lutheran Church, 214 North Main Street, Butler, Pennsylvania 16001.
Members of the VFW #249 and American Legion #778 will conduct military honors.
Gertrude Marie Hattz

Gertrude Marie Hattz, age 79, of Bonniebrook Road, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Thursday, December 31, 2009 at 5:25 a.m. at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born March 9, 1930 in Summit Township, Butler, she was the daughter of the late William Albert Yost and Margaret Louise Roshiesen Yost.
Mrs. Hattz was a lineworker at Penn Champ in East Butler, retiring in 1993. She was also a "domestic diva" who loved housecleaning. She was a presser for several Butler dry cleaners -- Fisher's, Hutchinson's and Frank Cicco Cleaners. Mrs. Hattz was a member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church where she was active with Katie's Kitchen and Meals on Wheels. She was an avid bowler; she loved playing cards; she was a former scout leader; and she was a member of the local Moose club. Her particular interests were caring for her five beautiful daughters, cooking and canning, gardening, and bowling. Gertrude was a patron of the arts and a country western music fan.
Mrs. Hattz is survived by her daughters, Margaret Ann and her husband, Gil Steighner of Rimersburg, Pennsylvania; Kathleen Marie Carothers; Eileen Michele and her husband, Michael Collins; Lenore Elaine and her husband, Tim Reges; and Beverly Diane and her husband, Dale Hobaugh all of Butler, Pennsylvania; twelve grandchildren, Michele Mascetta, Gilbert Steighner, Melissa Savannah, Maria Fisher, Megan Davis, Tiffani McGann, Curtis Carothers, Nicole Zirnsak, Timothy and Travis Reges, Amber and Aaron Hobaugh; eight great-grandchildren, Ian Steighner; Mariah and R. J. Mascetta, Liam and Tighe Fisher, and Everett Reges and Jackson Zirnsak and Layla McGann; one brother, William Albert Yost; one sister, Betty Catherine Swidzinski; and by many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Hattz was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Hattz, who she marriage on June 3, 1950; he passed away on September 16, 1985, and also by one sister, Hilda Ida Hydak.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday, January 2, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held on Sunday, January 3, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church 201 West Jefferson Street, Butler, Pennsylvania 16001. Rev. Dr. Alden Towberman of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church and Rev. Richard Leseganich of Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cranberry Township will officiate. Interment will follow in Gruenwald Cemetery.
Thomas F. Hilliard

Thomas F. Hilliard, age 76 of Butler, Pennsylvania, died 11:55 a.m. Thursday, December 24, 2009 at his home.
Born May 5, 1933 in Prospect, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Paul G. and Sarah E. Timblin Hilliard.
Previously worked at Castle Rubber Company then worked at Pullman Standard until closing in 1983. He worked at Aero Mayflower Moving Agency retiring 1991.
Mr. Hilliard was a protestant by faith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War.
Mr. Hilliard is survived by one daughter Tammy and her husband, Brian Lindsay of Butler, Pennsylvania; three sons, Carl R. Hilliard of Prospect, Pennsylvania, Frank Hilliard of Butler, Pennsylvania, Fredrick Hilliard of Butler, Pennsylvania; nine grandchildren; number of great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Hilliard was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret (Musick) Hilliard who died on August 31, 1996; a daughter; two sisters and five brothers.
At the request of Thomas F. Hilliard there will be no public visitation or funeral.
Joanne Grace Sassone

Joanne Grace Sassone, age 58, of Butler, Pennsylvania, died Thursday, December 24, 2009 at 8:00 a.m. in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Born on October 15, 1952 in Butler, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Frank Sassone and Mary Oliva Sassone.
Ms. Sassone was a retail salesperson, and a Catholic by faith.
Ms. Sassone is survived by her sister, Sandra Check of Butler, Pennsylvania and her fiancee, Thomas Craig Osborne of Renfrew, Pennsylvania.
Ms. Sassone was preceded in death by her parents.
At her request, there will be no public visitation. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Herman, Pennsylvania.
Herbert G. Enyeart
March 20, 1916 ~ December 19, 2009
Herbert G. Enyeart, age 93, formerly of Butler, Pennsylvania, died Saturday, December 19, 2009 in Wayzata, Minnesota at the Golden Livingcenter - Hillcrest of Wayzata after a brief illness.
Born March 20, 1916, in Girard, Ohio, he was the son of the late I. Herbert Enyeart and the late Margie (Klingensmith) Enyeart and was a graduate of Chaney High School in Youngstown, Ohio.
Mr. Enyeart retired in 1980 after 35 years from Armco where he worked in the Silicon Department. During the 63 years that he lived in Butler, he was an active member of Covenant Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder and Deacon and volunteered on numerous church committees and at the Covenant Food Cupboard. He also was a volunteer driver for the American Red Cross for 10 years and a member of both the Armco Veterans Club and the Butler Elks Lodge.
Mr. Enyeart was marriage for 40 years to Grace H. "Billie" Enyeart, who preceded him in death in 1983.
He is survived by two daughters, Sally Chiroff of Columbia, Maryland and Debbie Enyeart of Plymouth, Minnesota; one brother, Robert P. Enyeart of Youngstown, Ohio; one sister, Beatrice Varner of North Canton, Ohio; three grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 28, 2009 at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania with Reverend James Swanson of Covenant United Presbyterian Church officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. one hour prior to the funeral.
Private burial will be in the North Side Cemetery. An additional private memorial service for the family is planned for late spring in Butler.
The family respectfully suggests memorial donations to Covenant Presbyterian Church, 230 East Jefferson Street, Butler, Pennsylvania 16001, with special consideration for the Covenant Food Cupboard.
Opal Geneva Nichols "Nick" Morse

Opal Geneva Nichols "Nick" Morse, age 92 of South Eberhart Road, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Friday, December 18, 2009 at 6:45 a.m in the Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born August 9, 1917 in Tyler County, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Samuel E. Nichols and Agnes Blanche (Tustin) Nichols.
Mrs. Morse was a member of Christ Community United Methodist Church. She attended Tyler County High School in Middlebourne, West Virginia and McMillian Hospital Nursing School in Charleston, West Virginia, where she received her degree as a Registered Nurse. Mrs. Morse worked at Charleston General Hospital and New Martinsville Hospital in West Virginia. She enjoyed gardening and fishing.
Mrs. Morse is survived by her husband Harold L. Morse of Butler, Pennsylvania, whom she marriage on October 6, 1944, and also by her son, Michael D. Morse and his wife Cynthia Brandt of Salt Lake City, Utah; three grandchildren, Lauren E. Morse, Samuel E. Morse, and Matthew B. Morse all of Salt Lake City, Utah; her brother Lester W. Nichols of Alma, West Virginia; her sister Juanita N. Whelan of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and three nieces and three nephews.
Mrs. Morse was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Services will be held at Christ Community United Methodist Church on Monday, December 21, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Howard Burrell officiating. Interment will be in Beechwood Cemetery on Tuesday, December 22, 2009.
