Naomi Carol Greenawalt, age 73 of Preston Dr. Butler, Pennsylvania went to be with her Lord on Thursday, December 17, 2009 at 8:54 p.m in the Butler Memorial Hospital peacefully surrounded by her family.
Born in Valencia, Pennsylvania on October 29, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Leland Oesterling and Marcella Grabe Oersterling.
Lovingly known as The Hat Lady, Carol wore a butterfly on her clothing every day except during the six weeks of Lent, as a symbol of the Resurrection.
Carol marriage Donald Greenawalt on May 26, 1954 and followed him shortly thereafter as he was sent to France as he served in the United State Air Force.
Carol was a homemaker and a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Cabot. Carol came from a very musical family, sang with her sisters and played drums with the family band. At the age of three she won a singing contest on WISR Radio by singing. "Who's Afraid of the Boggie Man" for Bob Kaufman.
For most of her life, Carol was a member of St. Mark's Evangical Lutheran Church where she sang in the Senior Choir, was a leader for the children's Sunday school openings, and created many large banners that hung in front of the sanctuary. She was a member of Tuesday Musical Club and the Christian Women organizations. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels, Children's Rehabilitation Center, St. Anthony's School for Exceptional Children in Oakmont and lead sing-alongs for MORA Club, Tanglewood Senior Center and other organizations for many years.
At St. Lukes's, she sang in the choir, was the wedding coordinator and for many years added the graphics and copied the church bulletins. Carol wrote music and poetry and arranged much of the music for the Grace Notes, a gospel trio that she preformed with from 1972 until 2008.
She is survived by her husband, Donald L. Greenawalt, one daughter Debra Greenawalt, one son Timothy Greenawalt and his wife Mary; two grandchildren: Dustin and Kayla all of Butler, Pennsylvania. Five sisters: Janice Fry and her husband Kenneth of Butler, Evelyn Cypher and her husband Wayne
Both of Butler, Eleanor England of Orlando, Florida, Kay Kuhn and her husband George of Howell, Michigan, and Karen Mulligan of New Jersey.
Three brothers William Oesterling and his wife Cathy of Trenton, Missouri, Charles Oesterling and his wife Marty of Butler and Ronald Oesterling of Lansing, Michigan. Two Sisters-In-Law: Dorothy Nicklas and her husband Bud Funkhouser of Butler and Edith Oesterling of Port Ritchey, Florida. Her mother-in-law, Bessie M. Greenawalt of Butler, twenty-eight nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son David Lee Greenawalt, one brother Keith L. Oesterling and two sisters Doris M. Oesterling and Leah J. Montag.
Friends and family of Carol Greenawalt will be received at The Thompson-Miller Funeral Home Inc. on Sunday, December 20, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be at St. Luke Lutheran Church 330 Hannahstown Road Cabot, Pennsylvania 16023 on Monday, December 20, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Barry Keurulainen and Pastor Jason Hoerth of St. Luke Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will follow in the Brownsdale Cemetery.

John J. Beneigh, Jr. age 59, of Stirling Drive, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at 9:20 a.m. at his residence.
Born May 9, 1950 in Butler, Pennsylvania, he was the son of John J. Beneigh and Alma (Nuth) Beneigh.
Mr. Beneigh attended Community Alliance Church. He worked at the Eagle Printery and Wise Business Forms as their controller and treasurer. He graduated from Butler High School and Robert Morris University where he received a bachelors degree in Accounting. Mr. Beneigh was a member of National Accountant Association and Butler Area Landlords Association. Mr. Beneigh enjoyed being with his family, traveling, and bicycling.
John is survived by his wife, Margie Beneigh, whom he marriage on Febuary 19, 1972 and by two sons, John J. Beneigh III and his wife, Sarah of Butler, and Andrew J. Beneigh and his wife, Sara of Zelienople, Pennsylvania; one daughter, Mary (Beneigh) Ford and her husband, Douglas of Butler; one sister, Darlene (Beneigh) Morse and her husband, Harry of Vienna, Virignia; seven grandchildren, Jack and Lauren Beneigh, Carter, Avery and Preston Beneigh, Jefferson and Jill Ford; and by eighteen nieces and nephews.
Mr. Beneigh was preceded in death by one infant brother.

Services will be held at First United Methodist Church on Friday, December 18, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Oden Warman and Reverend Dr. David Panther officiating. Interment will follow in Butler County Memorial Park.

Charles E. "Charlie" Carlson

Charles E."Charlie" Carlson, age 80, formerly of Chicora Road, Butler, Pennsylvania, now of Saxonburg, Pennsylvania, died Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at 4:48 a.m. in the Good Samaritan Hospice Unit at Concordia.
Born February 6, 1929 in DuBois, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Charles Leo Carlson and Margaret E. Hollenbeck Carlson.
Mr. Carlson was a Machinist for Wise Machine Inc. for 38 years of service, retiring in June 1993. Previous to that he worked for the B & O Railroad Company for 9 years. He was a member of Community Alliance Church. Mr. Carlson was a former chairman of the Summit Township Water Authority, and a member of the Zoning Hearing Board for Summit Township. Charlie enjoyed painting, church involvements, lawn care, and outdoor activities. Mr. Carlson enjoyed life to its fullest.
Mr. Carlson is survived by his wife, Dorothy A. "Dot" Carlson, whom he marriage on June 4, 1950; a son, Danny Lee Carlson of Kittanning, Pennsylvania; a daughter, Ellen Marie Shields and her husband, John A. of Fishersville, Virginia; one granddaughter, Heather Walton and her husband, Thomas of Crozet, Virginia; one great granddaughter Gracie Walton; two chosen daughters, Nikki Ellenberger and her husband, Don, and son Timothy; and Judy O'Donnell and her husband, Gary; two sister-in-laws, Mrs. Lorraine Carlson of Butler, and Mrs. Joyce Carlson of DuBois; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Carlson was preceded in death by one brother.

George R. "Brud" Vogus

George R. "Brud" Vogus, age 80, of 535 Sunset Drive, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Sunday, December 13, 2009 at 6:26 p.m. in the Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born November 6, 1929 in Clinton Township, Venango County, he was the son of the late George H. Vogus and Clara (Dillon) Vogus.
Mr. Vogus was a bricklayer for 42 years, belonging to the Local #9, International Union of Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers. He retired in 1989. He was a member of Faith United Presbyterian Church, and he belonged to the Prime Timers of the church. Mr. Vogus enjoyed attending all of the grandchildren's programs, games, and concerts; spending time with family and helping with family projects; and he enjoyed spending time at camp and hunting. Mr. Vogus was a Sergeant in the United States Army, 1st Calvary Division, serving in Korea and Japan during the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Vogus is survived by his wife, Grace O. Vogus, whom he marriage on July 2, 1951, one son, Scott D. Vogus and his wife, Lorraine (Vargo) of Cabot, one daughter, Victoria L. Pacey and her husband, Lawrence W. of Valencia; six grandchildren, Nicole L. Vogus, Douglas R. Vogus, and Jillian R. Vogus, Claire E. Pacey, Philip W. Pacey, and Caroline G. Pacey, all at home; one sister, Mary V. Hoffman of Columbus, Ohio; and four nieces and four nephews.

Ruth H. Holmes

Ruth H. Holmes, age 90, of Concordia at the Orchard, Butler, Pennsylvania, formerly of Westwood Manor, died Saturday, December 12, 2009 at 3:15 a.m. in the Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born April 20, 1919 in Renfrew, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late James H. Reed and Sara Nicklas Reed.
Mrs. Holmes was marriage to Willard H. Holmes in 1935 who passed away on May 8, 2009.
Mrs. Holmes was a homemaker, and a member of Fenelton United Methodist Church, where she was a former choir member and treasurer of the Missionary Society for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her family.
Mrs. Holmes is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Betty J. Cumberland and Mrs. Howard (Gladys R.) Graham, both of Butler, and Mrs. Joseph (Debra L.) Simco of Bellefonte, Pennsylvania; five grandchildren, Jacquelyn Pietrowski and her husband, Daniel; Laura Nichol and her husband, Daniel; Jeffrey Cumberland and his wife, Susan; Sherry Collins and her husband, Stephen; and Michelle Gladd and her husband, Rick; thirteen great grandchildren and one great great-grandson. Also surviving Mrs. Holmes are three sisters, Esther Miller, Jean Boyd, and Jane Stephens and her husband, Robert; one brother, James Reed; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Holmes was preceded in death by an infant son, and her son-in-law, David C. Cumberland, who died on June 5, 2009.

Gabert Delano Molnar, age 88 of Center Township Butler, Pennsylvania, formerly of Gibsonia, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania died Friday, December 11, 2009 at 6:54 a.m. in the Autumn Grove Care Center, Harrisville, Pennsylvania .
Born November 16, 1921 in Namacolin, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Bert Molnar and Julia (Szabo) Molnar.
Mr. Molnar was a long-term employee for General Electric's Major Appliance Business retiring 1983. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Asiatic Pacific Campaign with the Adjunct Generals Section of the Headquarters Service Command in Caledonia and the New Hebrides. Mr. Molnar was Presbyterian by faith.
Mr. Molnar is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mildred B (Sahli) Molnar of Butler; Pennsylvania; one son, Gabert D. Molnar, Jr. of Broadview Heights, Ohio; one daughter, Cynthia M. and her husband Charles A. Kuehn, Jr. of Wixom, Michigan; two grandsons, Charles A. Kuehn III of East Lansing, Michigan and Paul D. Kuehn of Wixom, Michigan; two brothers, Alexander Molnar and William J. Molnar and by twenty-three nieces and twelve nephews.
Mr. Molnar was preceded in death by one son, Gary Richard Molnar, three brothers John S. Molnar, Albert B. Molnar, and Robert E. Molnar, and three sisters, Mrs. Edith Breakiron, Mrs. Helen Nemes and Mrs. Bertha Davis.

Anna Belle Geyer

Anna Belle Geyer, age 94, of 307 Spruce Street, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at 11:11 p.m. at her residence.
Born June 2, 1915 in East Brady, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late W. W. Barnhart and Nora Emminger Barnhart.
Mrs. Geyer was a member of First United Methodist Church. For years she volunteered in the church's office, assisting with administrative duties. She also served a a teacher's aide in various schools in Butler. Mrs. Geyer was a chaperone at the YWCA Friday night dances. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Geyer is survived by her daughter, Marcia Gray, and her husband, Elliott of Salisbury, Maryland; a son, George David Geyer, and his wife, Pat, of Sebastian, Florida; seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren and two great great- grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Geyer was preceded in death by her husband, George M. Geyer, who passed away in May 1982.
At the request of the family, there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
