Sarah J. (Conner) Shick-Shakley of Grant Street, East Butler, Pennsylvania, went home to be with the Lord at 9:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 10, 2010.
Born in Phillipston, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late Kenneth Dale Conner and Lillian (Nelly) Conner.
Mrs. Shakley worked at J.C. Penney's and Montgomery Wards. She was a member of East Butler Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Shakley went to Union High School where she was 1st line violinist and a honor student.
Mrs. Shakley is survived by two daughters, Lana K. Dero of East Butler, Pennsylvania, and Nancy Engle and her husband, Fred of Butler, Pennsylvania; two grandsons, Ray Hay, Jr. of East Butler, Pennsylvania and Thomas Engle of Manchester, England; three granddaughters, Chris Rettig of East Butler, Pennsylvania, Sherry Carson of East Butler, Pennsylvania, and Kimberly Cameron of Butler, Pennsylvania; several great-grandchildren, one great great granddaughter, two sisters, Carole (Bev) Whitmer of East Butler, Pennsylvania, and Edna Delaney of Butler, Pennsylvania; several nieces and one nephew.
Mrs. Shakley was preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas Shick who passed away in June 1979 and also by her second husband Dr. John Shakley who passed away in September 2007.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Friday, November 12, 2010 from 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Dr. Mary Kitchen of East Butler Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will be in Rimersburg Cemetery.
Rev. Paul A. Willette
Rev. Paul A. Willette, age 58, of Butler, Pennsylvania, died Sunday, November 28, 2010 in Waltersburg, Pennsylvania, where he was serving as an interim Pastor.
Born in Putnam, Connecticut he was the son of the late Albert A. Willette and Elsie L. Fiske Willette.
Rev. Willette was the District Associate for Missional Development for the Pittsburgh District Church of the Nazarene. He was a 1976 graduate of Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, Massachusetts, where he earned a Bachelors degree in Religion. He then went on to earn a Masters of Divinity degree in 1979 from Nazarene Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri. He was the NCD Director and the Ministerial Assessment Director for the Pittsburgh District. He was a member of the Butler 1st Church of the Nazarene and enjoyed planting churches, family, fly fishing, gardening and camping.
Rev. Willette is survived by his wife of 35 years, Nancy Willette; two daughters, Amanda Willette of Monroeville, Pennsylvania and Mary Willette Riordon and her husband Nathan of Mt. Vernon, Ohio; one son, Peter Willette of Butler, Pennsylvania; one brother, Charles and his wife, Wendy Willette of Raymond, New Hampshire; two sisters, Louise Wheeler and her husband, Arthur of Wakefield, New Hampshire, Margie Johnston and her husband Russell of Scarborough, Maine; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Pittsburgh Nazarene District Center, 177 North Road, Butler, Pennsylvania on Thursday, December 2, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. and Friday, December 3, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held immediately afterward at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 3, 2010 with Dr. Steve Dillman and Reverend Bret Metcalfe officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Chestnut Cemetery.

Ruby A. Huff

Ruby A Huff, age 93, of Butler, Pennsylvania, died Monday, December 20, 2010 at 7:59 p.m. in the VNA In-Patient Hospice.
Born June 13, 1917 in Butler, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Harry R. Morrison and Cecelia Lassinger Morrison.
Mrs. Huff was a homemaker most of her life and worked at Montgomery Wards part-time in the late 1960's. She was an excellent seamstress and loved flower gardening. She spent her winters during the 1970's and early 1980's in North Ft. Myers, Florida, residing at Mobile Manor, where she enjoyed riding her 3-wheel bike and participating in various activities at the Clubhouse.
Mrs. Huff is survived by two daughters, Joyce E. (William) Hoffman of Butler, Pennsylvania and Deborah K. (James) Rathbun of Prospect, Pennsylvania; one son, James L. (Maureen) Huff of Butler, Pennsylvania; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers; and two sisters.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Huff was preceded in death by her husband, John F. Huff, whom she marriage September 23, 1936, and whom passed away on December 13, 1986; by an infant son; four sisters and two brothers.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on December 23, 2010 from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral Service will be held immediately following at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Greenlawn Burial Estates.

Richard John "Dick" Fry

Richard John "Dick" Fry, Sr., age 74, of Franklin Street, Butler, died Monday, January 3, 2011 at 12:20 p.m. at his residence.
Born March 19, 1936 in Butler, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Clarence Hilton Fry, Sr. and Lillian Marie Hockenberry Fry.
Mr. Fry was the owner of Dick's New & Used Furniture; from where he retired. He enjoyed collecting antiques, writing poetry, and playing the lottery. He enjoyed time with his brother and friends on Center Avenue, at the Donut Connection and at Linda's South Side Diner. He also enjoyed spending time at Pizza Hut. He was a member of the VFW Post # 249. He served in the Army and was stationed in Munich, Germany.
Mr. Fry is survived by five sons, Richard J. Fry, Jr. of Butler, Matthew P. and his wife Christine Fry of Butler, Christian R. and his wife Karen Fry of New Castle, Dale A. Fry of Butler, Richard Matthew and his wife Crystal Snyder of Slippery Rock; three daughters, Belynda S. Young of Butler, Tracy M. and her husband Frank Malinski of Prospect, Wendy and her husband Christopher Losser of Butler; twenty-five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews; one brother, Harry and his wife Judy Fry; one sister, Bernice and her husband Philip Radwanski of Lyndora; his former wife, Judy Oesterling Fry; his companion, Donna Snyder; and his former wife, Margaret Stuart.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Fry was preceded in death by one brother, Clarence H. Fry, Jr. and four sisters, Gail Leinenbach, Twila Duncan, Val Jean Bowser and Lucille Domhoff.
There will be no public visitation.
Memorial Services will be held at Faith Fellowship Alliance Church, 200 Fared Drive, Butler, PA 16001, on Friday, January 7, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. with Pastor Benjamin Oesterling officiating.

John T. "Terry" Laskey

John T. (Terry) Laskey, age 53, of West Sunbury, Pennsylvania, passed away Saturday, February 19, 2011 at 12:25 a.m. at his home.
Born April 12, 1957 in Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania, he is the son of Wilma Cummings Laskey and the late Louis L. Laskey, Sr.
Mr. Laskey was a graduate of Knoch High School and attended North Western University and Edinboro University. He was a Certified Prothetist and owned Precision Artificial Limb & Brace. After his retirement, he worked as an Indepent Contractor. He was a member of the Springdale Lutheran Church. He was a member of Victory Lodge #694 F.& A. M., the Loyal Order of the Moose, and PA Chapter AAOP. John bowled in the Pin Pals and the Strikes and Spares Bowling Leagues. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and spending time with his grandchildren.
Mr. Laskey is survived by his wife, Cathy L. Johnson Laskey, whom he marriage on August 11, 1978; his mother, Wilma Laskey; one son, John and his wife Kim Laskey of Butler; one daughter, Julie and her husband Larry Grenet of Gibsonia; three grandchildren, Bryce and Sydney Grenet and Breckin Laskey; three brothers, William Cummings of Cochranton, Louis Laskey, Jr. of Slippery Rock, and Richard Laskey of Clarion; three sisters, Cheryl Laskey of California, Marietta Laskey-Shearn of Turkey City, and Suzanne Camarigg of Parker; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Laskey was preceded in death by his father, one brother, Kenneth Laskey and one sister, Lucinda Laskey.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Springdale Lutheran Church 1061 Mahood Road West Sunbury, PA 16061-2015 on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at 6:30 P.M. with Rev. Karl Schoch of Springdale Lutheran Church officiating. A social gathering will follow services.

Dorothy M. Barger, age 90 of Butler, Pennsylvania, died Sunday, February 13, 2011 at 5:48 a.m. in the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born October 14, 1920 in Butler, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Howard Matheny and Anna Cummings Matheny.
Mrs. Barger was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church. She was an avid bridge player. Mrs. Barger was a retired Office Manager at Cayman Corporation in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Mrs. Barger is survived by two sons, William and his wife, Ronie Barger of Petaluma, California and Charles and his wife, Denise Barger of Butler, Pennsylvania; four grandchildren, Allen Barger, Steven and his wife Christie Barger, Jennifer Barger, and Erin and her husband, Scott Fortman; two great grandchildren, Alex Barger and Rylee Barger; one sister, Mrs. John (Ellen) Stauffer of Butler, Pennsylvania and by several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Thursday, February 17, 2011 from 6 to 9 p.m.

Charles Edward McMichael

Charles Edward McMichael, 99, of Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away on January 1, 2012 at 11:40 p.m. at the Butler Memorial Hospital.
He was born October 16, 1912 in Ambridge, Pennsylvania to the late John L. McMichael and Leila McConnell McMichael.
Mr. McMichael was a turn foreman in the Strip Coating Silicon Anneal department at Butler Armco Steel for 43 years, retiring in 1977. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II in the Southwest Pacific 24th Infantry Division. He was a member of Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church. Mr. McMichael was a member of the #769 William H. Miller Lodge F. and A.M., Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of New Castle, Syria Shrine of Pittsburgh, Butler Shrine Luncheon Club and the Tanglewood Senior Center.
Mr. McMichael is survived by one son, Charles McMichael, Jr. of Butler, PA; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Helen Logan McMichael who passed away June 8, 1981; an infant daughter; and two brothers, Cyrus McMichael and John McMichael.
Friends will be received Wednesday, January 4, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street Butler, PA.

Edwin (Ed) L. Young, Jr., 59, of Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away on February 26, 2012 at 6:10 p.m. at the Good Samaritan Hospice Unit at Concordia.
He was born July 28, 1952 in New Kensington, Pennsylvania to the late Edwin L.Young, Sr. and Velma Jean Cook Young.
Ed was a 1970 graduate of Valley High School, Arnold, PA and earned an Associates Degree at the New Kensington Commercial School. He worked as a laser optician at II-VI (Two-Six) in Saxonburg, PA. Ed served as a EMT/Volunteer Fireman with several different companies. He also taught EMT & CPR classes at the Butler County Community College. He enjoyed reading, ceramics and owned and operated SIRamics. Ed enjoyed watching the Steelers and Penguins. He was a faithful follower of Jesus, rooted in the word. Ed was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Cabot, PA.
Ed is survived by his wife, Joyce K. (Deegan) Young, whom he marriage August 14, 1971; two sons, Jason T. Young and his wife Tammy S. of Saxonburg, PA, Timothy E. Young and his girlfriend Megan Foley of Kalamazoo, MI; one granddaughter, Aleah M. Young; one sister, Pamela Rankin and her husband Larry of Arnold, MD and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-parents and one sister, Violetta (Pinky) Miller.
Friends will be received Tuesday, February 28, 2012 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, February 29, 2012 from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street Butler, PA.
