Elverna N. "Vicki" Kent, age 80 formerly of Lafayette Apartments, died Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in the Autumn Grove Nursing Home, Harrisville, Pennsylvania.
Born June 14, 1930 in Hedgesville, New York she was the daughter of the late Louis Vance and Nellie A. Enerson Vance.
Mrs. Kent was a homemaker and waitress at the Summit Diner. She retired in 1960. Mrs. Kent attended Community Alliance Church and North Main Street Church of God. She loved children and animals.
Mrs. Kent is survived by several cousins and one sister-in-law, Clara.
Mrs. Kent was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore V. Kent, whom she marriage July 3, 1948 and whom passed away May 10, 1991.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday, November 6, 2010 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Funeral Services will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend Robert Pascoe of Amedisys Hospice officiating. Interment will be in West Sunbury Union Cemetery.
Emma "Lucy" Swallop

Emma "Lucy" Swallop, 98, of Butler, passed away on November 10, 2010 at Chicora Medical Center. She was born October 23, 1912 in St. Petersburg, PA, the daughter of the late David and Lucy Jane (Wood) Edinger.
She was in the first graduating class at St. Petersburg High School. After graduation, she attended Clarion State Teachers College for a brief time. Lucy enjoyed traveling in her earlier years, playing cards and bingo. She also was a Red Cross volunteer at the Butler Memorial Hospital and a former member of Bethany Reformed Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Marjorie (Gene) Fleeger of Butler, five grandchildren; Brian (Heather) Fleeger of Butler, Robert (Michele) Fleeger of Slippery Rock, Julie (Scott) Wetzel of Butler, Jeanie (JoeKnox) Reed of Saginaw, TX, and Rebekah (Morris) Tackett of Stephenville, TX. Also surviving are eight great-grandchildren, one daughter-in-law, Patsy Swallop of Saginaw, TX and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Swallop who passed away August 14, 1988, a son, William, and an infant daughter, Anita Lou, four brothers and one sister.
Private family visitation and services were held at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc. 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania 16001. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the donors favorite charity.

Katherine H. McCormick Age 79 of Muntz Ave. Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away Saturday November 27, 2010 at 6:30 a.m. surrounded by her family at the Visiting Nurses Association Inpatient Hospice.
Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on September 9, 1931 she was the daughter of the late George F. Hoffman and Nellie J. Parker Hoffman.
Mrs. McCormick was a graduate of Butler High School. She had been employed by Miller-Kingsley Insurance Agency. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Butler and was a member of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed traveling and playing cards
She is survived by her husband of fifty four years Hugh E. "Bud" McCormick they were marriage on July 7, 1956; one son Hugh F. McCormick of Butler, Pennsylvania; two daughters, Carol Green and her husband Al and Nadine Rosenbauer and her husband Gerry both of Butler, Pennsylvania; three grandchildren: Bethann, Stephen, and Kenneth Rosenbauer all of Butler, Pennsylvania; and four Nieces.
Friends and family of Katherine McCormick will be received at The Thompson-Miller Funeral Home Inc. on Monday November 29, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Funeral services will be from the funeral home on Tuesday November 30, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. J. David Panther pastor of The First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery.

Norma Jean Neely

Norma Jean Neely, age 81, of Renfrew, Pennsylvania, died Friday, November 26, 2010 at 7:55 p.m. in the Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born in Connoquenessing Twp, Pennsylvania on November 17, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Floyd Walker and Laverne Hilliard Walker.
She was a member of St. John's Reformed Church.
Mrs. Neely was a elementary school teacher in Evans City, Pennsylvania, she then went to work for the Butler Area School District as a teacher then became department chairperson for the Library Science Department.
She was a graduate of Slippery Rock College in 1953, and was very active in her church. She was a member of the Meridian Volunteer Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary, The Butler County Association of School Retirees and The Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees. Mrs. Neely was a member of Alpha Sigma Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society. She also was a 4-H leader for twenty years.
She is survived by her husband James E. Neely, they were marriage on June 16, 1955; one daughter: Donna S. Zang and her husband Robert C. Zang Jr. of Evans City, Pennsylvania; two grandsons, Jason R. Zang and Garrett J. Zang of Evans City, Pennsylvania; one sister: Joanne M. Jamison and her husband Bob of Renfrew, Pennsylvania and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a infant son, William C. Neely

Edna Marie Delaney, age 84, passed away Saturday, November 13, 2010 at 4:40 p.m. in Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Delaney was born to the late Kenneth Dale Conner and Lillian Nelly Conner on March 17, 1926 in Phillipston, Pennsylvania.
Edna was a homemaker and Protestant by faith.
Mrs. Delaney is preceded in death by her husband, Evan B. "Bud" Delaney, who passed away July 1, 1999. She is also preceded in death by a sister, Sarah Shakely; and a grandson.
Edna Delaney is survived by one son, Gary Delaney of Butler, Pennsylvania; two daughters, Patty Divins of Sligo, Pennsylvania and Luann Smith of Butler, Pennsylvania; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren; one sister, Carole Whitmer of East Butler, Pennsylvania; five nieces and one nephew.

John C. Connor, Jr.

John C. Connor Jr., age 48 of Cornell Drive, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Thursday, November 11, 2010 at 4:27 p.m. in the Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born October 12, 1962 in Holden, Massachusetts, he was the son of John C. Connor and Rose Marie DeLuca Connor.
John was an exceptional husband, father, brother and friend. He was an avid golfer, and he enjoyed a good round of golf with his son. John enjoyed online poker and watching the Rhode Island Web Cam. He spent summers in Rhode Island as a child, and as he grew up he took his own family there each year. He was a sports enthusiast with his favorite team being the Boston Red Sox. John enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, making memories that will be cherished. He will be greatly missed. John was a General Manager for Burger King in the Pittsburgh Area.
Mr. Connor is survived by his wife, Heather Rice Connor whom he marriage on September 24, 1997; one son, John C. Connor III of Prospect, Pennsylvania, two sisters, Debbie (Glenn) Brown of Clermont, Florida and Merle (Robert) Smith of Germantown, Maryland, one brother Ken (Kate) Connor of Butler, Pennsylvania; four nieces and four nephews.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania, on Monday, November 15, 2010 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Paul R. Meeder

Paul R. Meeder, age 85 of Center Drive, Oakland Township, Chicora died Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. in the Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born in Butler on April 27, 1925, son of Earl I. and Etta Eberhart Meeder.
Paul was a founding member of Living Word Evangelical Free Church of the Greater Butler Area. He served as a deacon and elder in the church. He worked as a composing room operator and film developer at the Butler Eagle for 48 years. A veteran of World World II, he was stationed at Mendelsham Air Base, England; and was with the 34th Bomb Group, 7th Squadron. He was an airplane mechanic, reaching corporal status.
Surviving are his wife, Twyla Maharg Meeder; five sons, Kenneth W. (Vikki) of Boone, Iowa, Keith P (Kathie) of Linden, Virginia, Melvin B. (Patti) of W. Pittsburg, Matthew E. (Leslie) of Muncy, Pennsylvania, and Phillip J. of Chicora; twelve grandchildren, three great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law; one brother Donald E. (Patty) Meeder of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Mr. Meeder was preceded in death by one sister, Mildred Miller.

Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Sunday, November 14, 2010 at 8:00 p.m. with Pastor William Glassman of Living Word Church officiating. Interment in Greenlawn Burial Estates.
