Robert Wilson Swartz, age 85 of Sunnyview Home and Rehabilitation Center, died Thursday, July 29, 2010 at 10:11 a.m. in the Butler Memorial Hospital .
Born August 16, 1924 in Boulder, Colorado he was the son of the late Hobort Allport Swartz and Alice Evelyn Boyd Swartz.
Mr. Swartz was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Butler, Pennsylvania. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II in the European and Pacific Theaters. Mr. Swartz was a member of the Smethoport Lodge F & AM of the Free Masons in Smethport, Pennsylvania and also a member of Coudersport Consistory in Coudersport, Pennsylvania. Mr. Swartz enjoyed watching WWF wrestling on TV and gardening.
Mr. Swartz is survived by his wife, Geraldine Hess Swartz of Sunnyview Home and Rehabilitation Center whom he marriage September 11, 1948;one son, Robert A. and his wife Elizabeth Swartz of Butler, Pennsylvania; two daughters, Tersea A. Swartz and life partner, Nancy Wise, Arroyo Grande, California, Elizabeth A. Swartz and her husband, John Crittenden of Alexandria, Virginia; four granddaughters, Jennifer Rebecca and her husband Edward Ryan of Holmdel, New Jersey, Brandie Elizabeth and her husband, John Klee of Butler, Pennsylvania, Emily Mae and her husband Joseph McMullen of Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania; Meghan Marie and husband Troy Nunes of Gibsonia, Pennsylvania; seven great grandsons, Eamonn, Eoghan and Echlin Ryan of Holndel, New Jersey, Aiden, Ethen and Collin Klee of Butler, Pennsylvania and Tavian Nunes, Gibsonia, Pennsylvania; one sister Jean Roberts, Lewis Run, Pennsylvania, several nieces and nephews..
Mr. Swartz was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister .
There will be no public visitation.
Private Memorial Service for the family will be scheduled at a later date.

Joan A. Fisher

Joan A. Fisher, age 83 of Mahood Road, West Sunbury, Pennsylvania, died Thursday, July 8, 2010 at 4:30 p.m. in the VNA Hospice Unit.
Born July 7, 1927 in Butler, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late Joseph A. Youkers and Cora Klugh Youkers.
Mrs. Fisher was a Elementary Teacher for the LeBeouf School System, Waterford, Pennsylvania where she retired from in December 1987 after 25 years of service. She graduated from Butler High School and Edinboro University where she received her Bachelor of Science and Masters in Elementary Education. She attended Faith Fellowship Alliance Church.
Mrs. Fisher is survived by her husband, Walter A. Fisher whom she marriage on October 3, 1946, by two sons, Melvin E. Fisher of Florida and Walter M. Fisher of Erie, Pennsylvania, one granddaughter, Tracey Hunsaker and her husband, Bruce of Arizona, four great-grandchildren, one brother, Joseph A. Youkers and one sister, Wanda McKinnis both of Butler, Pennsylvania, two nieces and four nephews.
A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Mary Alice Ferguson Gerhart

Mary Alice Ferguson Gerhart, age 80 of Butler, Pennsylvania, died Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at 10:55 p.m. at her residence.
Born November 25, 1929 in Butler, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late Bryson McKee Ferguson and Sarah Jane Patten Ferguson.
Mrs. Gerhart was a member of St. Andrew's United Presbyterian Church. She was a secretary for Castle Rubber, Nationwide and Morgan Management Company retiring in 1972. Mrs. Gerhart was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.
Mrs. Gerhart is survived by her husband, Richard L. Gerhart of Butler, Pennsylvania whom she marriage on February 12, 1972; two sisters, Martha Marzullo of Renfrew, Pennsylvania, and Sarah Jane Parker of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina and by a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Gerhart was preceded in death by one son.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Friday, July 30, 2010 from 12:00 (noon) till 2:00 p.m.
Services will be held at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday, July 30, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Dr. James Swanson of Covenant Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will follow in Butler County Memorial Park.

Ralph J. (Doc) Miller
August 19, 1925 ~ July 24, 2010
Ralph J. (Doc) Miller, age 84, Butler, PA, died Saturday July 24, 2010 at 10:00 p.m. in the VA Medical Center in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Born August 19, 1925 in Butler, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late C. Everett Miller and Edna E. Mahler Miller.
Ralph worked in the Melt Shop Maintenance Department at Butler Armco retiring in 1986. He was a member of St. John's Reformed Church. Ralph was a 1943 High School graduate from Butler High School. Ralph is a veteran of the Navy he became Pharmacist Mate assigned to the 6th Marine Division in the Pacific in 1944 he earned a Bronze star, upon returning home he received his credentials from Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. Ralph served his apprenticeship in McDonnell, Pennsylvania and worked for Dengler Atwell Funeral Home in Butler, Pennsylvania then decided against the profession. He started working at Butler Armco in 1956. Ralph was a Justice of the Peace for Butler Township from 1958 till 1972. Ralph was a lifetime member of the VFW# 249, a member of the American Legion # 117, and life member of the 6th Marine Division Association. He and his wife traveled throughout America for the 6th Division Reunions. He and his wife were marriage in St. Mark's Lutheran Sunday School Building on November 14, 1952 while the new church was being built.
Mr. Miller is survived by his wife Joanne M. (Iman) Miller, one son, David L and his wife Kathy Miller of Butler one daughter, Jackie and her husband Norm Young of Butler, three grandchildren, Jason Miller, Deanna Miller and Adam Took, one sister, Mrs. Marilyn Bieber of Butler and a number of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home Inc. on Thursday, July 29, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. with Reverend Dr. Robert C. Peterson of St. John's Reformed Church.
Officers and members of the American Legion Post #778 and V.F.W. Post #249 with conduct a military service at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc. after memorial service.
Edward F. Ford

Edward F. Ford Age 68, of Heather Dr. Butler, Pennsylvania passed away Saturday July 24, 2010 at 9:50 A.M. in The Visiting Nurses Association Inpatient Hospice.
Born in Butler, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Edward Ford and Anna Mae Reiber Ford.
Mr. Ford retired from Butler Armco where he was a manager in the caster department. Following his retirement he worked as a consultant for LWB Refractories. He was a charter member of Christ Community United Methodist Church. Ed enjoyed fishing, woodworking, traveling and exploring the civil war battlefields. He also enjoyed reading. Above all Ed was a family man and enjoyed spending time with them especially his grandchildren.
Mr. Ford is survived by his wife Nancy L. Greenway, they were marriage on November 15, 1963; two sons, Edward Ford and his wife Karen of Slippery Rock, and Douglas Ford and his wife Mary of Butler; four grandchildren Elizabeth and Sarah of Slippery Rock, and Jefferson and Jill of Butler; one sister: Mrs. Leibert Mustello of Butler and Lakeland, Florida; eleven nieces and nephews.
Friends and family of Edward Ford will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home Inc 124 East North St. Butler, Pennsylvania 16001 on Tuesday July 27, 2010 from 2-4 & 7-9 P.M.
Funeral services will be from the funeral home on Wednesday July 28, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. with the Rev. J. David Panther of First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in the Butler County Memorial Park.

Richard D. "Dick" Kennedy, Sr.

Richard D. "Dick" Kennedy, Sr. age 80 of, Butler, Pennsylvania, formerly of Grove City, Pennsylvania, died July 5, 2010 at 3:30 p.m. in the Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born February 28, 1930 in Butler, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Floyd B. Kennedy and Grace Wise Kennedy.
Mr. Kennedy was a former member of Grace at Calvary of Butler, Pennsylvania and a member of East Main Presbyterian Church in Grove City, Pennsylvania. He was a salesman for Good Brothers Tire in Kittanning, Pennsylvania, retiring in 1998. Mr. Kennedy was a member of The Butler Notables, Penn-Ohio Barbershop Groups and also the Southern Gentleman in New Bern, North Carolina. He was a veteran in the U.S. Navy Seabees in the Korean War. Mr. Kennedy enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a Butler High School graduate in 1948.
Mr. Kennedy is survived by four sons, Rick and his wife Donna Kennedy of Butler, Pennsylvania, Tom and his wife Sue Kennedy of Butler, Pennsylvania, John and his wife Shelley Kennedy of Valencia, Pennsylvania, and Stephen and his wife, Connie Kennedy of Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania; one daughter, Cindy and her husband Ron Marowitz of St. Cloud, Florida; thirteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; one step-daughter, Jeanne and her husband Dennis Baloaing of New Bern, North Carolina; one step-son, John Perrine; four step-grandchildren, one brother, Donald and his wife Evie Kennedy of Butler, Pennsylvania; two sisters, Ellen and her husband Guy Hively of Columbia City, Indiana, Martha and her husband Sam Bowser of Columbia City, Indiana and by a number of nieces and nephews and cousins.
Mr. Kennedy was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen L. Kennedy who passed away March 24, 1995, and by his second wife, Patricia L. Kennedy who passed away September 21, 2009.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Thursday, July 8, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home on Friday, July 9, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Mr. Dennis Hindman of Rider Lutheran Church. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Burial Estates.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to East Main Presbyterian, 120 East Main Street, Grove City, Pennsylvania 16127.

Dorothy O. Farmen

Dorothy O. Farnen, age 85 of Connoquenessing, Pennsylvania, died Thursday, July 29, 2010 at 11:55 a.m. in the Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born June 3, 1925 in Valencia, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late Melvin E. Johnston and Edna P. McKinnis Johnston.
Mrs. Farnen was a member of Connoquessing United Methodist Church. She belonged to the United Methodist Women and A.A.R.P. She was a volunteer for ten years at the VA Medical Center in Butler, Pennsylvania. "Dot's Door" was always open with a warm welcome to family and friends.
Mrs. Farnen is survived by one son, John E and his wife Donna Farnen of Connoquenessing, Pennsylvania; one daughter, Jill Farnen of Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania; four grandchildren, three great granddaughters and also by a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Farnen was preceded in death by husband, Henry John Farnen who she marriage on February 7, 1943 and passed away on September 18, 1993. She was also by preceded in death by her parents, two sons, two brothers and one sister.
Private services were held at the convenience of the family.
Entombment was at the Chapel of Devotion in Butler County Memorial Park.
