Elsie Winberg, 104, of Valencia and formerly of Mt. Washington, died July 31 at Valencia Woods Nursing Center in Valencia.
Born in Pittsburgh on April 3, 1899, she was the daughter of the late John and Margaret Balf Yochem.
A homemaker, Mrs. Winberg was a founding member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in West View.
Surviving are two sons, Carl Winberg Jr. of Pittsburgh and John Winberg of Valencia; 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Winberg, who died in 1961.
A service was conducted on Saturday at McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home.
Burial was conducted in Mars Cemetery in Adams Township.
Davison
Helen Davison, 79, of Zelienople and formerly of Wexford died Nov. 23 at UPMC Passavant Cranberry Hospital.
Born in Sewickley on Feb. 10, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Erin and Gertrude Kerr Ristin.
She had retired after 30 years with the housekeeping department at UPMC Passavant Hospital in the Town of McCandless.
Surviving are a daughter, Kathleen Laumb of Idaho; a son, Gary Davison of Renfrew; a sister, Dorothy Mooney of Lewistown; two grandchildren and one great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Davison, who died in 1974, and a sister, Agnes Ristin.
Friends were received at McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home in Mars on Nov. 25. Funeral services were Nov. 26 at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial was in Salem Cemetery in Wexford.
McGoff
Deborah A. McGoff Ehrman, 50, of Cranberry Township, died Nov. 22 at her home.
Born May 10, 1953, in Ambridge, she was the daughter of Mary Bosh McGoff and the late Fred McGoff.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Brad Ehrman, whom she married April 13, 1971; two daughters, Natalie Easley of Cranberry Township and Nicole Swiss of Butler; a brother, Matt McGoff of Ambridge; eight sisters, Christine McGoff of Ambridge, Laura Thompson of Fombell, Terry Connelly of Mars, Victoria Jackman of Baden, Kelly Kato of Scott Township, Elizabeth McGoff of Ambridge, Rachel Diakowski of Economy; and Emily Cook of Ambridge; and five grandchildren.
Friends and family were received Nov. 25 at Glenn-Kildoo Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Cranberry, where a blessing service was held with the Rev. Robin Evanish of St. Margaret Mary Parish officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to Breast Cancer Awareness.
McWilliams
Dennis E. McWilliams, 52, of Freedom and formerly of Mars, died Nov. 23 at Sewickley Valley Hospital in Sewickley.
Born in Pittsburgh on July 11, 1951, he was the son of Pearl Hunter McWilliams of Mars and the late Robert McWilliams.
He was a self-employed promotional products salesman.
He was a member of the Mars United Presbyterian Church and was an Air Force veteran of Vietnam. He was a member of Mars VFW Post 7505.
Surviving are his companion, Rose Nay; a son, Drew McWilliams of Charlotte, NC; his mother, Pearl Hunter McWilliams of Mars; two brothers, John McWilliams of Mars and James McWilliams of Loveland, Ohio; a sister, Lynn Gallaher of Butler and nieces and nephews.
Friends were received at McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home in Mars Nov. 25. Funeral services were Nov. 26 at the home with the Rev. Robert McCrumb, pastor of the Mars United Presbyterian Church officiating.
Burial was in Mars Cemetery in Adams Township.
Simms
Walter H. Simms, 81, of Cranberry Township, died Nov. 23 at his home.
Born in Pittsburgh on Jan. 30, 1922, he was the son of the late Thomas J. and Alice Donahue Simms.
He was a retired Crane Operator of LTVJ&L Steel. He was also a self-employed sign painter.
He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Cranberry and was a Navy veteran of WWII and a member of the Mt. Oliver VFW.
Surviving are a son, Walter Simms of Tarentum; a brother, William Simms of Bethel Park; and two grandsons, Eric and Robert Simms.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cornelia Fueller Simms who died July 28, 1999, and by a brother and sister.
Friends were received at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home in Mars on Nov. 25. Funeral services were Nov. 26 at the funeral home.
Burial was in Pinewood Memorial Park in Cranberry Township.
Walker
Margaret A. Walker, 81, of Valencia, died Nov. 25, 2003, at her residence.
Born in Pittsburgh on Sept. 5, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Andrew George and Harriet Jane Coombs Walter.
She retired in 1986 after 40 years as a postal clerk at the Valencia Post Office. For many years prior, she had worked for her family-operated Walter’s Store and Dance Hall in the Mars Area.
She was a member of Valencia United Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the choir, served in the Women’s Association and was in the Laura S. Dickson Bible Class.
Surviving are her twin sister, Harriet Walter of Valencia; a brother, Andrew Walter, of Valencia; five nieces and nephews; 12 great-nieces and nephews; and 22 great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Harley Walter.
Friends were received at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home Nov. 28 and 29. Funeral services were Nov. 29 at the funeral home with the Rev. Gary Weston, pastor of Valencia United Presbyterian Church, officiating.
Burial was in Allegheny County Memorial Park in the Town of McCandless.

Edinger
Earl E. “Tip” Edinger, 73, of Emporium and formerly of Gibsonia, died Nov. 28, 2003, at UPMC Passavant Hospital in the Town of McCandless.
Born in Verona on April 3, 1930, he was the son of the late William F. and Selina Butts Edinger.
He was a machinist and welder for Carl Strutz in Mars.
He was a member of the Moose and Elk Lodges in Emporium.
Surviving are his former wife, Gertrude Kristin Edinger; a son, Edward J. Edinger of Butler; a daughter, Constance Maiure of Mars; a brother, Kenneth Edinger of Mars; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jessie Edinger; an infant daughter and three brothers.
A memorial service was Dec. 1 at McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home with Dr. Chris Marshall, pastor of New Life Christian Ministries, officiating.
Burial was held in West Union Cemetery in Pine Township.
Galletta
Angeline “Angie” Nancy Galletta, 70, of Valencia, died Nov. 27, 2003, at UPMC Passavant Hospital in the Town of McCandless.
Born in Youngstown, Ohio, on Nov. 30, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Tommasina Carrino.
Angie was a graduate of South High School in Youngstown, Ohio. She was a member of St. Kilian Roman Catholic Church in Mars, where she was a Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Ladies of Charity of St. Kilian Parish.
She worked to promote vocations in the religious life and the priesthood and was a founding member of the Serra Club of Mars.
She was the beloved wife of Nunzio Galletta, with whom she celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Oct. 25, 2002.
They promoted and participated in the married couples’ retreat movement at St. Emma’s Retreat House in Greensburg for 38 years.
Surviving are four children, Roseann Brooks, Gerard “Gerry” Galletta and Laurel Galletta, all of Valencia, and Paul Galletta of Mars; a sister, Antonette “Toni” Diana of Youngstown; two brothers, Alfred Carrino of Niles, Ohio, and Albert Carrino of Chico, Calif.; and seven grandchildren, Christopher Daugherty, Scott, Brad and Megan Galletta, and Tyler Brittany and Caitlin Brooks.
Friends were received Nov. 29 and 30 at McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial was Dec. 1 at St. Kilian Roman Catholic Church.
Entombment was in the mausoleum at Holy Savior Cemetery in Richland Township.

Hasley
Richard L. Hasley, 81, of Middlesex Township, died Dec. 10, 2003, at his home.
Born in Pittsburgh on Oct. 5, 1922, he was the son of the late James and Elizabeth Evans Hasley.
He was a retired salesman for various safety and steel products. At one time, he was co-owner of a small steel firm in Pittsburgh. Following his retirement, he drove a school bus for Mars Area School District and worked in the pro shop of the Saxon Golf Course in Saxonburg.
He was a member and former trustee of the Glade Run United Presbyterian Church and had served from 1959 to 1973 on the Mars Area School Board, of which he was president for six years.
He was a past president of the Mars Little League Association and was a World War II Army Air Corps pilot.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Vera Daum Hasley, whom he married June 11, 1943; four sons, Richard Hasley Jr. of Memphis, Tenn., the Rev. Dr. Stephen Hasley of Columbus, Ohio, William Hasley of Hollywood, Calif., and David Hasley of Wexford; a daughter, Kristine Cress of Mars; fourteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, William Hasley, and a sister, Betty Lou Kemerer.
Funeral services were Dec. 13 at Glade Run United Presbyterian Church in Valencia with the Rev. John Rickloff officiating.
Burial was in Allegheny County Memorial Park in the Town of McCandless.

Johnson
Margaret C. "Peg" Johnson, 77, of Mars, died Dec. 7, 2003, at her home.
Born in Mars on March 25, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Naomi Mahan Czarniecki.
She was a member of the Mars United Presbyterian Church and the Women’s Club of Mars. She also volunteered at UPMC Passavant Hospital.
She was a retired secretary for the LAC Synod, the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, in Ingomar.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold D. "Red" Johnston, whom she married Oct. 17, 1946, who died Jan. 25, 2002.
Surviving are a daughter, Janet Lubbert of Mars; a son, Harold D. Johnston of Montgomery, Ala.; a sister, Jean Clawson of Zelienople; and one grandson, Andrew Lubbert.
Friends were received at a memorial service at Mars United Presbyterian Church., with the Rev. Robert McCrumb and the Rev. John Rickloff officiating.
Private burial followed in Mars Cemetery .
