Eugene Russell Arthurs, 79, of Middlesex Township died Friday at Passavant Hospital.
Born June 13, 1921, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of Joseph Ellsworth and Bertha Elizabeth Haskins Arthurs.
He was a retired terminal manager for Helms Express.
He belonged to the Traffic and Transportation Association of Pittsburgh.
Mr. Arthurs was a U.S. veteran, serving in the Navy Air Force during World War II.
He was a member of the Holy Sepulcher Church and a lifelong member of the Mars V.F.W. Post 7505.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Sovyak Arthurs.
Also surviving are two sons, Dean Arthurs of Middlesex Township and Dale Arthurs of Cabot; a brother, Joseph Ellsworth Arthurs of Charleston, W.Va.; and a grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
ARTHURS - A memorial Mass for Eugene Russell Arthurs, who died Friday, June 8, 2001, will be held at 10 a.m. June 19 at Holy Sepulcher Roman Catholic Church. The Rosary will be prayed one-half hour before the service. Father John Maloney will officiate.
Memorial donations may be made to the Holy Sepulcher Church Building Fund, 1304 E. Cruikshank Road, Butler, Pa., 16002.

Carl W. Snyder
Carl W. Snyder, 80, of Saxony Health Center and formerly of McGuire Avenue, died at 2:20 a.m. Monday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born Jan. 23, 1921, in Butler County, he was a son of Bert and Ethel McCandless Snyder.
He was a retired welder, having worked for the former Pullman-Standard Co.
He attended the First Baptist Church.
He was a member of the William H. Miller Lodge Free and Accepted Masons, Butler Caravan No. 14; and the New Castle Consistory and Syria Temple.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by a son, Carl Snyder of El Paso, Texas; a daughter, Mrs. Chester (Linda) Webb of Bellflower, Calif.; three step-daughters: Mrs. James (Judy) Clark of Loveland, Ohio; Mrs. Howard (Nancy Lee) Schmitt of Christiana, Pa.; and Mrs. Ken (Merry Dee) Lehman of Butler; three sisters, Garnet Snyder, Mrs. Ruth Sutton and Mrs. Earl (Helen) McDeavitt, all of Butler; five grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two nieces and a nephew.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Kunkle Snyder, who died July 28, 1992.
Also preceding him in death was a grandson.
SNYDER - Friends of Carl W. Snyder, who died Monday, June 11, 2001, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Maitland, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Burial Estates in Mount Chestnut.
Edna L. Morrow
Edna L. Morrow of Mars, formerly of McCandless, died Monday afternoon at Passavant Hospital, McCandless, after an illness.
Born in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of Edward C. and Louise Relic Young.
Surviving are her husband, Charles S. Morrow, whom she married June 21, 1957; a daughter, Mrs. Lawrence (Candius) Luba of Mayville, N.Y.; two sons, Clayton S. and Bartley E. Morrow, both of Mars; a sister, Mrs. Leonard (Dorothy) Berringer of Massachusetts; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
MORROW - Friends of Edna L. Morrow, who died Monday, June 11, 2001, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at MCDONALD-AEBERLI FUNERAL HOME, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars. William J. Kish
William J. Kish, 77, formerly of Butler, died Sunday at his home in Yardley, Bucks County, where he lived for a year.
Born in Morrisville, Bucks County, he was the son of Michael and Catherine Kish.
Mr. Kish retired as senior vice president of worldwide operations for Harsco International in Butler.
He was a 3rd Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus. He also belonged to the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
During World War II, he served in the Navy.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Martin Kish; two daughters, Catherine Swartly of Doylestown, Bucks County and Maria Kish of Atlanta, Ga.; a son, Martin William Kish of Chicora; a granddaughter; and five nieces.
KISH - A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Morrisville. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Grace Cemetery , Langhorne, Bucks County.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, One Plymouth Meeting, Suite 520, Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462-1316.

Harry K. Humes
Harry K. Humes, 84, of 190 Parker Road, Buffalo Township, died at 6:10 a.m. Monday at Saxony Health Center, Saxonburg.
Born Sept. 12, 1916, in Tarentum, he was the son of Howard H. and Hazel Riddle Humes.
He had been a foreman in the 8-2 department at Allegheny Ludlum Steel, Brackenridge, for 30 years and retired in 1981. He previously had worked for the Army Corps of Engineers for 12 years.
Mr. Humes was a member of the Freeport United Methodist Church and was a social member of the White Star Club of Freeport.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and traveling.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, V. Mardelle Ross Humes; a son, Harry K. Humes Jr. of Buffalo Township; and six daughters, Karen Humes, Linda Leah and Mrs. Lance (Janice) Zubrin, all of Buffalo Township, Mrs. Eugene (Joyce) Tahon of Hollidaysburg, Mrs. Howard (Evelyn) Morris of Cabot and Mrs. Kim (Susan) Claypool of Freeport. Thirteen grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by a sister and two grandsons.
HUMES - Friends of Harry K. Humes, who died Monday, June 11, 2001, will be received from 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at REDMOND FUNERAL HOME, 524 High St., Freeport. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The Rev. William White, his church pastor, will officiate. Burial will be at Mount Airy Cemetery , Natrona Heights.
Paul W. Horner
Paul W. Horner, 85, formerly of Middlesex Township, died April 29, 2001, at The Inn at Freedom Village, West Brandywine Township, Chester County.
Born Aug. 30, 1915, in Wilkinsburg, he was the son of Edward W. and Meta Seibert Horner.
Mr. Horner and his wife of 60 years, Ruth Rehn Horner, moved to Chester County in 1989.
He retired in 1983 after almost 50 years in the composing room of the Butler Eagle. While at the Eagle, he had been secretary-treasurer of the typographical union for years and had written articles on Middlesex and Penn townships events.
Horner was a member of the First English Lutheran Church of Butler.
He had been active in Middlesex Township, where he had been an officer of the Middlesex Township Volunteer Fire Department. He also had been township auditor for 28 years.
During World War II, he served in Europe with the Army’s 4th Armored Division, Medical Battalion and participated in the Battle of the Bulge.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Paula E. Horner of Honey Brook, Chester County; a son, Wesley R. Horner of Oxford, Chester County; and two grandchildren.
A celebration of his life in the Quaker tradition will be June 23 in Ercildoun, Chester County.
Joseph R. Fellows
Joseph R. Fellows, 80, of Butler died Monday at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.
Born June 3, 1921, in Harrisburg, he was a son of Joseph M. and Edna Copper Fellows.
A graduate of Penn State University, he was an industrial engineer. He retired in July 1982 as superintendent of safety, transportation and public relations at Armco-Butler Works after 35 years.
He had been a member of the Butler Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Fellows enjoyed golfing and was a member of Armco Golf Club. He was also an avid stamp collector and belonged to the Butler Stamp Club.
For many years, he had been a volunteer at Butler Public Library.
He is survived by his wife, Anne Rockenstein Fellows, whom he married Jan. 30, 1943; a son, Frederick M. Fellows of Lake Forest, Calif.; and two daughters, Mrs. Alfonso (Mary) Rosati of Tucson, Ariz., and Mrs. Ronald (Frances) Minto of Wapakoneta, Ohio. Also surviving are six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A daughter and an infant sister preceded him in death.
FELLOWS - Friends of Joseph R. Fellows, who died Monday, June 11, 2001, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St. Funeral Services will be at 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Raymond Boccardi officiating. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.

Clarence H. Cox
Clarence H. Cox, 93, of Saxonburg died Friday, June 8, 2001, at his home.
Born in Pittsburgh, Jan. 13, 1908, he was the son of Russell and Lucile Hickey Cox.
He retired in 1968 as a melter at Allegheny Ludlum Steel after 40 years.
Mr. Cox was a charter member of the Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Company.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eleanor Cox, who died in 1983, and by his second wife, Jeannette Ohl Cox, who died Oct. 2, 1998.
He is survived by a son, Clarence L. Cox of Cabot; a sister, Mrs. Alberta Avey of Butler; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Private services where today at FOX FUNERAL HOME, Saxonburg. The Rev. James Boos, pastor of Saxonburg Memorial Presbyterian Church, officiated. Burial was at St. Luke Cemetery , Saxonburg.
Mary E. Connell
Mary E. Connell, 85, formerly of Harrisville, died at 7:45 p.m. Monday at Orchard Manor, Pine Township, Mercer County, where she lived since February 2000.
Born in Harrisville, July 10, 1915, she was the daughter of William F. and Alice Osborne Smith.
A graduate of Franklin High School, she retired in 1977 after 20 years as a bookkeeper at Brooks Appliance, Slippery Rock. She formerly had been a bookkeeper at General Manifold and Printing of Franklin and a waitress at the Spot Restaurant in Harrisville. She also did sewing and tailoring for many years.
She was a member of Harrisville United Methodist Church, where she belonged to the choir, served as a communion steward and was active in the former quilting group.
Mrs. Connell also had been secretary of the Feed My Sheep Food Cupboard for many years and was a member of the Community Club of Harrisville and the American Association of Retired Persons of Slippery Rock.
Surviving are a son, Donald L. Connell of Clark Mills, Mercer County; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Harold L. Connell, whom she married Dec. 17, 1938, died Jan. 30, 1999. Five brothers also preceded her in death.

Donald Paul Bayne
Donald Paul Bayne, 71, of 5334 Colonial Ave. died Tuesday, June 5, 2001, at Butler Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
Born April 4, 1930, in Herman, he was the son of Kenneth G. and Philomenia Michel Bayne.
He retired from Armco-Butler Works after 42˝ years.
Mr. Bayne was a member of St. John Byzantine Catholic Church of Lyndora, the VFW, Cubs and the Butler Quarterback Club.
He was a National Guard veteran and served in Germany during the Korean War.
He enjoyed playing the drums.
Surviving are his wife, Julia A. Zulick Reddick Bayne, whom he married Aug. 25, 1973, in Butler; son, Donald Bayne of Butler; two daughters, Terry Ellenberger of Prospect and Colby Imbrie of Texas; a stepdaughter, Beverly Reddick-Kuhns of Littleton, Colo.; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Edward (Mary) Sanderson of Butler.
He was preceded in death by two stepsons.
BAYNE - There will be no viewing. A service for Donald Paul Bayne, who died Tuesday, June 5, 2001, will be held at 10 a.m. June 20 at St. John Byzantine Catholic Church, 105 Kohler Ave., Lyndora. An additional service will be held at 6 p.m. June 23 at St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church, 1660 N. Main St. Extension.
Mr. Bayne donated his body to science.
