Marjorie G. Gearhart

Marjorie Gardner Gearhart, 78, of 530 N. Main St., formerly of Haverford Drive in Butler Township, died at 10:50 a.m. Thursday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born in Tarentum, Allegheny County, July 5, 1922, she was the daughter of Glenn E. and Tillie M. Marshall Gardner.

She was a homemaker and a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.

Her husband, John E. Gearhart, whom she married Nov. 20, 1943, died Jan. 20, 1995.

Surviving are two sons, John M. Gearhart of Denver, Colo., and Robert G. Gearhart of Woodland Hills, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. William (Phyllis) Rath of St. Louis, Mo., and 10 nieces and nephews.

GEARHART - Friends of Marjorie Gardner Gearhart, who died Thursday, May 24, 2001, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Peters Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Bruce Geary, church pastor, officiating. Burial will be at North Side Cemetery .

Memorial donations may be made to St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 218 E. Jefferson St., Butler, PA 16001.

Edward Wharton

Edward Wharton, 99, of Harmony, formerly of Portersville, died Friday at the Evergreen Nursing Center in Jackson Township.

He was born Sept. 24, 1901, in Warwood, W. Va., son of John and Catherine Grabe Wharton.

He was a self-employed farmer in Portersville for years. He was a member of AARP.

He is survived by two nieces, Janis Altdorfer and Christina Walzl, both of Pittsburgh; and by three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie Lippenot Wharton, who died July 1998, and a son.

WHARTON - Friends of Edward Wharton, who died Friday, May 25, 2001, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the GLENN-KILDOO FUNERAL HOME, 219 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople. Funeral services will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. William W. Brewer, pastor of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Zelienople, officiating.

Burial will be in the Highwood Cemetery , Pittsburgh.

Shirley Ruth Sasse

Shirley Ruth Sasse, 66, of Crewe, Va., died May 14, 2001.

Born in Butler County, April 10, 1935, she was the daughter of William and Mary Jane George.

She is survived by a daughter, Cindy L. Foust, and a son, Barry L. Beck, both of Crewe; three grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.

Also surviving are four sisters, Mary Graham of Saxonburg, Eleanor Foringer of Gibsonia, Betty Wall of Lawrenceville, Ga., and Esther Burns of Struthers, Ohio; and four brothers, Thomas George of Saxonburg, Paul George of Zelienople, Frank George of Carson City, Nev., and Kenneth George of Baltimore, Md.

Three brothers preceded her in death.

Burial was at City Point National Cemetery , Hopewell, Va.

Albert A. Myers Jr.

Albert A. Myers Jr., 70, of West Deer Township, Gibsonia, died Thursday at Passavant Hospital, Pittsburgh.

He was born June 15, 1930, in Indianola, the son of Albert and Margaret McCully Myers.

He was a custodian for Richland Elementary School in the Pine-Richland School District. He was an avid gardener and a former member of the West View Sportsmen’s Club, Mars Rod and Gun Club and the Bakerstown American Legion.

He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

He is survived by a son, Frank A. Myers of West Deer; a sister, Mary Kozik of West Deer; a brother, Charles R. Myers of Shaler, and an uncle.

MYERS - Friends of Albert A. Myers Jr., who died Thursday, May 24, 2001, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. at the SCHELLHAAS FUNERAL HOME, 5864 Heckert Road, Bakerstown. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Deer Creek United Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Raselyn Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Gardens, Cheswick.

Donna Marie Crawford

Donna Marie Crawford, 63, of 45 West 10th St, Greenville, Mercer County, died at 7:14 p.m. Thursday at United Community Hospital in Pine Township after an extended illness.

Born July 9, 1937, in Butler, she was the daughter of William and Catherine Musthaf Furey.

Mrs. Crawford was a homemaker and a Catholic.

She is survived by her husband, Howard S. Crawford, whom she married in November 1954; four daughters, Mrs. Richard (Linda) Scott of Mercer, Mrs. Randy (Stacey) Daye of Sandy Lake, Mrs. Kenneth (Kathy) Kane of West Middlesex and Mrs. Jay (Kimberly) Wolfe of Greenville; three sons, Larry Crawford of Sharon, Peter Crawford of Mercer and Richard Crawford of Sharpsville; four sisters, Mrs. David (Sandra) Lewis of Marionville, Lois Watterson of New Castle, Mrs. Herman (Patty) Rounce of Chicora and Mrs. Carol Osche of Butler; and three brothers, William, Lawrence and Paul Furey, all of Butler. Also surviving are 22 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

A daughter and a sister preceded Mrs. Crawford in death.

CRAWFORD - Friends of Donna Marie Crawford, who died Thursday, May 24, 2001, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME, 144 S. Pitt St., Mercer. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. James Kennelley of Immaculate Heart of Mary officiating. Burial will be at Mount Washington Cemetery , Jefferson Township Church, Mercer.

Michael Briston Jr.

Michael Briston Jr., 86, of 179 Dutchtown Road, died Friday evening, at the Highland Drive V.A. Medical Center in Pittsburgh.

Born Aug. 18, 1914, in Butler, he was the son of Michael and Tillie Fedum Briston Sr.

He formerly worked at the Fretz-Moon Tube Company in East Butler and at the Pullman-Standard Car Co. in Butler. He also worked on the family farm on Dutchtown Road in Butler.

He was a member of St. Andrews Orthodox Church in Lyndora.

Mr. Briston was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II. He was captured in North Africa and was a prisoner of war in Germany for 28 months.

Two brothers survive him: John Briston of the Lawrenceville section of Pittsburgh and George Briston of Renfrew. Also surviving are four nephews.

A brother, who was killed in World War II, preceded him in death.

BRISTON - Friends of Michael Briston, who died Friday, May 25, 2001, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME 100 Main St., Lyndora. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday from St. Andrews Orthodox Church, 205 Penn Ave., Lyndora, with the Rev. Joseph D. Wargo, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the North Side Cemetery , Butler.

Panachida services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Charles F. Ammon

Charles F. Ammon, 86, of Evergreen Nursing Center, Harmony, formerly of Murrysville and Butler, died at 2:30 a.m. Saturday at the nursing center.

Born Dec. 27, 1914, in East Liverpool, Ohio, he was the son of Charles W. and Laura S. Blakeley Ammon.

Mr. Ammon was employed as a machinist’s helper at Alcoa Aluminum in New Kensington for 34 years until his 1969 retirement.

He was a member of the Church of God of Lower Burrell.

He is survived by his second wife, Ida K. Stirland Ammon, whom he married Nov. 3, 1973; a daughter, Charlotte Mae Walker of New Kensington; and a son, Richard C. Ammon of Butler. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren a great-great-granddaughter and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Georgetta Varndell Ammon, who died Dec. 19, 1966; a daughter, a son, a sister and two brothers.

AMMON - Friends of Charles F. Ammon, who died Saturday, May 26, 2001, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Tim Falling of North Main Street Church of God, Butler, officiating. Entombment will be at the Chapel of Devotion Mausoleum, Butler County Memorial Park.

Arnold J. Roudybush

Arnold J. Roudybush, 87, formerly of 211 Keck Road died at 6 p.m. Sunday at Sunnyview Nursing Home.

Born in Washington Township, Armstrong County, Oct. 22, 1913, he was the son of William and Mary L. Walker Wilson.

He had been a truck driver at Fretz-Moon for 30 years. He then worked at Marmon/Keystone as a truck loader, retiring in 1989. He also was a self-employed farmer and an avid woodworker.

Mr. Roudybush was a Baptist.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret E. Wyant Roudybush, whom he married Sept. 15, 1939; a son, William James Roudybush Sr. of Butler; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Three brothers and four sisters preceded him in death.

ROUDYBUSH - Friends of Arnold J. Roudybush, who died Sunday, May 27, 2001, will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. today at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at New Testament Baptist Church, Duffy Road. The Rev. Kenneth McDeavitt, church pastor, will officiate. Burial will be at Butler County Memorial Park.

Memorial donations may be made to the Visiting Nurses Association, 154 Hindman Road, Butler, PA 16001.

Sandra Lynn Prorok

Sandra Lynn Siford Prorok, 36, of Harrisville died at 12:50 p.m. Friday at United Community Hospital in Grove City.

Born July 6, 1964, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of Lillian Hollenbeck Siford Ash and the late Howard Siford.

She was a graduate of Hampton High School and had worked as a secretary and waitress at various businesses.

She was a member of the Allison Park Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by her husband, Martin Prorok; a stepson, Garrett Prorok of Harrisville; her mother and stepfather, Lillian and Richard Ash of Boyers; a sister, Laurie Siford of Boyers; and two nieces and a nephew.

She was preceded in death by a grandmother.

Private services and burial were held at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements were handled by YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, West Sunbury.

Geraldine E. Mourer

Geraldine E. Mourer, 83, of Chicora died at 12:58 p.m. Sunday at Butler Memorial Hospital following an illness.

Born March 9, 1918, at Dutch Hill, Clarion County, she was a daughter of Charles and Florence Grant Lineman.

She was a member of the Chicora United Methodist Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher.

She was a member of the church choir and the Cheerful Workers at the church.

She is survived by three daughters: Mrs. M. Neal (Mary Lou) Cypher of Butler, Mrs. James (Carol Ann) Holloubaugh of Cabot, and Mrs. Dennis (Ethel Jean) Deal of Petrolia; a sister, Mrs. James (Mary Jane) Eberfeld of Chicago; a brother, Charles Lineman of Chicora; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Mourer, who died Aug. 9, 1991. They were married Feb. 17, 1938.

Also preceding her in death were a son, a grandson, four sisters and two brothers.

MOURER - Friends of Geraldine E. Mourer, who died Sunday, May 27, 2001, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME, 11 E. Slippery Rock St., Chicora. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Chicora United Methodist Church in Chicora with her grandson, the Rev. Neal Cypher, officiating. Burial will be in Hemphill Cemetery .
