Richard “Dick” Michel

Richard “Dick” Michel, 64, of Brackenridge and formerly of Buffalo Township, Butler County, died at 6 p.m. Sunday at home following a year-long illness.

Born Jan. 9, 1937, in Butler County, he was a son of Albert and Virginia Cypher Michel.

For the last six months, he lived in Brackenridge. Prior to that, he spent his life in Buffalo Township.

He was a broker with Kaplan Trucking, Brackenridge, for 20 years. He also was a semi-retired and former truck driver for many years.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

He was a member of the Holy Martyrs Parish, Sacred Heart - St. Peter Worship Site, Tarentum.

He belonged to the River Forest Country Club Allegheny Township and the Buffalo Township Golf Club. He was a former member of the Brackenridge Heights Country Club and Hillcrest Country Club, Lower Burrell.

He was an avid golfer, and he enjoyed fishing and traveling to his winter home in Florida.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Joyce Pelegrinelli Michel.

Also surviving are two sons, Robert Michel of Brackenridge and Ronnie Girard of Tarentum; three daughters, Kelley Michel of Boca Raton, Fla., and Carrie Michel and Amy Brothers, both of Brackenridge; two brothers, David Michel of Springdale and Joseph Michel of Atlanta, Ga.; three sisters, Nancy Shehab of Oakmont, Mrs. Samuel (Alice) Perpiglia of Natrona Heights, and Mrs. Donald (Ann) Butler of Pittsburgh; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son and a brother.

MICHEL - Friends of Richard “Dick” Michel, who died Sunday, May 27, 2001, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at DUSTER FUNERAL HOME, 10th Ave., Tarentum. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart - St. Peter Church in Tarentum, with the Rev. Donald Chortos, his pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Freeport Cemetery , Freeport.

Hilda E. McGuire

Hilda E. McGuire, 93, formerly of the Terrace Apartments, died early Saturday at Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights.

Born in Montrose, Scotland, March 21, 1908, she was the daughter of John Campbell Sweetmore and Margaret Milne Sweetmore.

She had lived in the Pittsburgh area for years, and she had been a laboratory technician at Carnegie Museum of Natural History for 14 years.

Mrs. McGuire later moved to the Renfrew area and was a member of the Meridian United Presbyterian Church and the Tanglewood Senior Center.

She was a volunteer at the Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center for seven years and for the Foster Grandmothers’ Program of the Butler American Red Cross for eight years.

She enjoyed knitting and crocheting.

Her husband, Edward McGuire Sr., whom she married Oct. 26, 1928, died June 11, 1970. A son and five sisters also preceded her in death.

Surviving are a son, Dr. George M. McGuire of Morgantown, W.Va.; and four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

McGUIRE - Friends of Hilda E. McGuire, who died Saturday, May 26, 2001, will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St. Services will follow at 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The Rev. Stephen Cahoon, her church pastor, will officiate. Following cremation, internment will be at Old Union United Presbyterian Cemetery , Adams Township.

Josephine Landers

Josephine Landers, 89, of St. Petersburg, Clarion County, died at 5:10 a.m. Sunday at Clarion Hospital after a brief illness.

Born May 21 1912, in Marienville, Forest County, she was a daughter of Edward and Flossie Ritts McCartney.

Mrs. Landers had been a nurse at various hospitals and had done private duty nursing for families in the Allegheny-Clarion Valley area.

She was a member of the Memorial Church of Our Father, Episcopal, in Foxburg and the Women’s Guild of the church.

She enjoyed quilting.

Surviving are three sons, Samuel D. Landers of St. Petersburg, Bennie G. Landers of Chicora R.D. 1 and Joseph Landers of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two daughters, Janice Landers of Franklin and Mrs. Robert (Nancy) Young of Foxburg; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She also is survived by two brothers, Richard Watts of South Carolina and Ernest Watts of Filer, Idaho; two sisters, Jean Robinson of New Bethlehem and Viola Milford of Sligo; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Her husband, Samuel D. Landers, whom she married May 21, 1923, in Parker, died Oct. 6, 1962. Two sons, two daughters, a brother, two sisters, three grandchildren, and an infant grandson also preceded her in death.

LANDERS - Friends of Josephine Landers, who died Sunday, May 27, 2001, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at CHRISTOPHER M. HILE FUNERAL HOME, St. Petersburg. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Memorial Church of Our Father, Episcopal, in Foxburg. The Rev. Edward Lowery, church vicar, will officiate. Burial will be at Perryville Cemetery , Perry Township, Clarion County.

Edward F. ‘Nibs’ Lubresky

Edward F. “Nibs” Lubresky, 78, of Butler and formerly of Arnold, Westmoreland County, died Thursday at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Aspinwall, Allegheny County.

Born Sept. 29, 1922, in Harmarville, Allegheny County, he was a son of Fred and Agnes Goodwin Lubresky.

He lived in Arnold before moving to Butler 40 years ago.

An aluminum worker, he worked for Alcoa in New Kensington.

He was a veteran of the Army Air Force, serving as a sergeant in World War II.

He was a member of the Cubs Athletic Club in Butler and enjoyed sports and playing cards.

He is survived by two sisters, Gertrude Liput of Lower Burrell and Catherine Schafferman of Baltimore, Md.

He was preceded in death by a sister.

Visitation and services are private.

Arrangements are being handled by the RUSIEWICZ FAMILY OF FUNERAL DIRECTORS, Arnold and Lower Burrell.

Earl L. Forsythe

Earl L. Forsythe of Tucson, Ariz., died Monday, May 14, 2001.

He was the son of Grant and Frances Thieleman Forsythe, and he was raised in Mars.

His wife, LaDon Mincer Forsythe, died in 1986.

He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Lloyd (Sue) Wilson of Valencia; a son, Raymond Forsythe of Tucson; and four grandchildren.

FORSYTHE - A memorial service for Earl L. Forsythe, who died Monday, May 14, 2001, will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at Mars Alliance Church, Route 228 at Myoma Road, Mars. The Rev. Paul Cope, church pastor, will officiate.

Floyd H. Frain

Floyd H. Frain, 89, of Cabot died Saturday at Concordia Lutheran Home.

Born Sept. 25, 1911, in Sarver, he was a son of Harry and Sadie Penrose Frain.

He was retired from Allegheny Ludlum in Brackenridge, where he worked for 48 years as a rolling foreman.

He was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Butler.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah Johnston Frain, whom he married Sept. 30, 1932.

Also surviving is a son, Charles Frain of Butler; two daughters, Mrs. John (Delores) Reesman of Sarver and Mrs. George (Linda) Horvatic of Trafford; a sister, Mrs. Margaret Acre of Brackenridge; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, three sisters, a grandson and a great-grandson.

FRAIN - Memorial services for Floyd H. Frain, who died Saturday, May 19, 2001, will be held at 1 p.m. today at the Faith Lutheran Church in Butler. The Rev. Alan Opper will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.

Memorial contributions may be made to Concordia Lutheran Home, 615 N. Pike Road, Sarver, Pa. 16023.

Arrangements are being handled by FOX FUNERAL HOME, Saxonburg.

Linda S. Compton

Linda S. Compton, 53, of Karns City died Saturday at her home.

Born Dec. 10, 1947, in Bradys Bend, she was the daughter of Joyce M. Bowser Shepard and the late Richard L. Shepard.

A 1965 graduate of East Brady High School, she had been a painter at Pullman Standard. She also worked in the cafeteria at Avis Food in East Butler and in the cafeteria at Karns City High School.

Mrs. Compton was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ, Bradys Bend.

Surviving are her husband, George W. Compton, whom she married Oct. 26, 1984; a son, Matthew Shepard of Kaylor; two stepdaughters, Debbie Compton of Butler and Cheri McGregor of West Sunbury; a stepson, George M. Compton of Lyndora; and a step-grandson. Her mother of Kaylor; a sister, Jean Hahn of Greenville; a brother, Thomas Shepard of Rochester; and nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by a brother and a step-grandson.

COMPTON - Friends of Linda S. Compton, who died Saturday, May 19, 2001, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at CHARLES B. BUECHELE FUNERAL HOME, 105 Fourth St., East Brady. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Joseph Kiewra, interim pastor of her church, will officiate. Burial will be at Lawsonham Cemetery , Madison Township, Clarion County.

Lewis C. Angerett

Lewis C. Angerett, 16, of Butler died at 7:45 p.m. Saturday at UPMC, Pittsburgh.

Born April 18, 1985, in Butler, he was the son of Lewis Allen and Terri Lynn Birckbichler Angerett.

He attended Butler Intermediate High School.

He is survived by his parents of Butler; two sisters, Chassidy Lee and Dezeray Lynn Angerett, both at home; and a nephew and niece, Owen Alexander Angerett and Jade Lynn Angerett, both at home.

Also surviving are his maternal grandfather, Lawrence T. Birckbichler of Butler; his paternal grandmother, Leela Brink of Renfrew; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins

ANGERETT - Friends of Lewis C. Angerett, who died Saturday, May 19, 2001, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 127 W. Jefferson St. Services will follow at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. David Kinsey, Syria Shrine chaplain emeritus, officiating. Burial will be private.

Rev. Dr. Robert McCaslin

The Rev. Dr. Robert Orr McCaslin, 88, a 5-year resident of Peoria, Ariz., died Monday, May 21, 2001, at his home.

He was raised in the Meridian area and was the son of Wilbert and Barbara McCaslin.

A graduate of Butler High School, Geneva College and Pittsburgh Zenia Theological Presbyterian Seminary, he was a pastor and served at the Zelienople Park Presbyterian Church, Myoma Old Union Presbyterian Church and Irwin Presbyterian Church.

He then was a chaplain in the artillery. He served in Germany and became a major.

Following the military, he spent 15 years in Torrington, Wyo., where he built a new Presbyterian church.

He then became vice president of Presbyterian College in Clinton, S.C., and raised millions of dollars for the college. He also served as interim pastor at Presbyterian churches in South Carolina.

Surviving are his wife, Donna McCaslin; a daughter Barbara Becker of High Point, N.C.; four sons, Thomas McCaslin of Flintridge La Canada, Calif., Dr. Ian McCaslin of San Diego, Calif., Shawn McCaslin of Washington, D.C., and John McCaslin of High Point, N.C.

A sister, Mary Margaret Robinson of Newville, Pa.; and a brother, John McCaslin of Renfrew, also survive.

Services will be in Peoria and burial will be at the Cemetery in Torrington.

Mary G. Losco

Mary G. Losco, 78, of Cranberry Township died Monday at Sherwood Oaks in Cranberry Township.

Born in Tabb, Va., Jan. 14, 1923, she was the daughter of Howard W. and Mary G. Smith.

She was a lifelong resident of Cranberry Township and had been manager of Conley’s Motor Lodge there.

Mrs. Losco belonged to the National Audubon Society.

Surviving are her husband, Joseph H. Losco; a son, Alfred Losco of Cranberry Township; and a cousin.

She was preceded in death by a brother.

LOSCO - Friends of Mary G. Losco, who died Monday, May 21, 2001, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at McDONALD-AEBERLI FUNERAL HOME, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery , Warrendale.
