Joseph E. Landers, 55, of St. Petersburg, Fla., formerly of St. Petersburg, Clarion County, died Nov. 2 in St. Petersburg, Fla.
Born Jan. 31, 1946, in Perry Township, Clarion County, he was the son of Samuel G. and Josephine McCartney Landers.
He was a member of St. Jude Roman Catholic Church in St. Petersburg Fla., and while living in Clarion County, he attended Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Clarion.
For more than 25 years, he owned and operated Joe E. Landers Store in St. Petersburg, Clarion County, and had worked at Pullman Standard for years. At the time of his death, he was assistant manager at Lowes Home Improvement Center, St. Petersburg, Fla.
He dedicated many hours of work to the St. Petersburg Public Park in Florida and part of the park will be dedicated to his memory.
Mr. Landers had served with the Marine Corps in Vietnam, obtained the rank of E5 sergeant and received numerous awards including the Meritorious Unit Citation Service Medal with three Bronze Stars, the M-16 Rifle Expert Badge and the Navy Unit Commendation Award to Marine Aircraft Group 12 for service in Vietnam. He then served in the Marine Corps Reserves until 1969.
In 1983, he joined the Naval Reserves and served in Desert Shield and Desert Storm from 1990-91. In 1999, he served with the Naval Reserves Persian Gulf Support Activity; and on Dec. 31, 2000, he was discharged into retired reserve status.
He received numerous other medals including the Naval Reserve Meritorius Service Medal, two National Defense Service Medals, Civil Action Color First Class the Navy and Marine Corps Overseas Service Ribbon.
Surviving are two brothers, Samuel D. Landers of St. Petersburg, Pa., and Bennie G. Landers of Chicora; two sisters, Janice Landers of Franklin and Mrs. Robert (Nancy) Young of Foxburg; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Two brothers, two sisters, two nephews and a niece preceded him in death.
LANDERS - A memorial service for Joseph E. Landers, who died Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Memorial Church of Our Father, Episcopal, Foxburg. The Rev. Edward Lowrey, church vicar, will officiate.
Following the service, military honors will be accorded at Foxburg Cemetery .

Prudence S. Warner
Prudence Susann Warner, 75, of Butler died at 3:40 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, 2001, at Sunnyview Nursing Home.
Born Jan. 24, 1926, in Butler, she was a daughter of Michael and Mildred Duncan Kresen.
Ms. Warner was retired from II-VI in Saxonburg.
She is survived by three daughters, Susann Warner of Cranberry Township, and Joyce Rowett and Prudy Smith, both of Butler; a son, Lance Warner of California; a sister, Mrs. Wilbert (Joann) Mohan of Butler; a brother, Michael Kresen of California; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Warner, and a sister.
There is no visitation. Services and burial will be at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are being made by YOUNG FUNERAL HOME in Butler.
Joseph M. Porter Sr.
Joseph M. Porter Sr., 74, of 115 Glenwood Ave., Evans City, died Friday morning at his residence.
Born Sept. 8, 1927, in McCandless Township, he was the son of Robert J. and Elda F. Waugaman Porter.
Mr. Porter was a veteran of World War II where he served in the Navy aboard the USS Laertes in the repair shop.
He was employed for Mine Safety Appliances, where he worked in the maintenance department until his 1990 retirement after 39 years.
Mr. Porter was a charter member of Westminster United Presbyterian Church, Evans City, where he was serving as a ruling elder. He was a member of John E. Mair Lodge 729 F&AM and a 50-year member of the American Legion Post No. 219 in Evans City.
He was the first person to complete the Evening Adult Education Program from Butler High School for his high school diploma on May 30, 1972.
Mr. Porter was an avid reader and enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, V. Rose Feil Porter, whom he married March 14, 1947; three daughters, Mrs. Charles (Jane) Neigh of Butler, Mrs. Richard (Sally) Dickerson of Newton, N.C., and Mrs. Peter (Nan) Durny of Zelienople; a son, Joseph M. Porter Jr. of Lyndora; two sisters, Mrs. Harold (Elsie) Cunningham of Bakerstown and Mrs. William (Margaret) Trautmann of Warren, Ohio; and two brothers, Wendell Porter of Clearwater, Fla. and Roderick Porter of Irwin. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
PORTER - Friends of Joseph M. Porter Sr., who died Friday, Nov. 30, 2001, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at KINSEY-VOLTZ FUNERAL HOME, Evans City. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. John Park, pastor of Westminster United Presbyterian Church, and the Rev. Dr. N. Graham Standish of Calvin Presbyterian Church, Zelienople, officiating. Burial will be at Evans City Cemetery .

Claudia B. Langmead
Claudia B. Langmead, 66, of Wexford, Pine Township, formerly of California, died Friday morning at her home after an illness.
Born Sept. 27, 1935, in California, she was the daughter of Kenneth and Eulalia Young Burnett.
She was a retired bookkeeper for the Santa Barbara Foundation in California.
She is survived by a daughter, Michelle Caudill of Austin, Texas; a son, Thomas T. Langmead, Jr. of Wexford; three sisters, Sylvia Gerard of Santa Barbara, Calif., Kay Hamilton of Fresno, Calif. and Vallorie Burnett of Rancho Milpitas, Calif. Also surviving are four grandchildren.
LANGMEAD - Private services for Claudia B. Langmead, who died Friday, Nov. 30, 2001, will be in California. Arrangements are being handled by McDONALD-AEBERLI FUNERAL HOME 238 Crowe Ave., Mars. Dennis A. Fosnaught
Dennis A. Fosnaught, 56, of 220 Campbell Ave. died Friday in the Butler Memorial Hospital’s emergency room.
Born July 10, 1945, in Harwick, Allegheny County, he was the son of Joseph A. and Alice Beers Fosnaught.
Mr. Fosnaught was a coal miner for Beth Energy.
He is survived by his wife, Rita E. Fosnaught, whom he married June 28, 1969; two sons, Joseph A. and John P. Fosnaught, both of Butler; two sisters; a brother; three grandsons; and a number of nieces and nephews.
FOSNAUGHT - There will be no public visitation. Friends of Dennis A. Fosnaught, who died Friday, Nov. 30, 2001, can attend graveside services at 3 p.m. Saturday. Katherine L. Curdo
Katherine L. Curdo, 74, of R.D. 2, Karns City, died Saturday at 6:31 a.m. at her home after a short illness.
Born July 28, 1927, in Silickville, Westmoreland County, she was the daughter of Andrew and Katherine Rosnachak Zemba.
Mrs. Curdo was employed for the Karns City School District as a cafeteria worker at Bruin Elementary School.
She was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Bradys Bend, where she was a member of the church choir, the Alter Rosary Society and the Young at Heart Group.
Mrs. Curdo is survived by her husband, Peter J. Curdo, whom she married June 25, 1949; two daughters, Mary Ann Curdo of R.D. 2, Karns City and Mrs. William C. (Kathy Vaughn) Lynn of Aliquippa; a son, Peter Richard Curdo of Bruin; four sisters, Mrs. Ralph (Bertha) Sproul of Albany, Ga., Agnes Zemba of Vandergrift, Mrs. William (Margaret) Peace of North Apollo and Helen Safranyas of Leechburg; and three brothers, Michael J. Zemba of Ford City, Wendolyn R. Zemba of Whitehouse, Tenn., and Joseph E. Zemba of North Vandergrift.
Also surviving are three grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Three brothers, including her twin, preceded her in death.

Frances A. Nagy
Frances A. Nagy, 83, of Sarver died Friday at Fairwinds Manor, Sarver.
Born in Verona, Aug. 20, 1918, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Agnich.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing and gardening.
Mrs. Nagy was a member of the Saxonburg Presbyterian Church.
Her husband, Frank P. Nagy, died Dec. 13, 1998.
She is survived by three sons, Peter Nagy of Cabot, David Nagy of Columbus, Ohio, and Frank Nagy of Illinois; a sister, Mrs. Catherine Marino of Verona; and three grandchildren.

Betty J. McCurdy
Betty J. McCurdy, 81, of Harrison Township died at 12:05 p.m. Saturday at Alle-Kiski Medical Center, Harrison Township
Born in Blawnox, Aug. 3, 1920, she was the daughter of Oscar and Mae McIntyre Herold.
She was a homemaker and lived in Harrison Township, Allegheny County, for 58 years.
Mrs. McCurdy was an active member of the Faith Lutheran Church of Harrison Township.
She enjoyed bowling and crafts.
Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. William (Patricia) Sims, with whom she made her home, Mrs. Donald (Jean) McClure of Winfield Township, Mrs. Regis (Carol) Tabacheck of Springdale, Mrs. Gordon (Gayle) Brenneman of Freeport and Mrs. Richard (Betty) Markovich Saxonburg; three sons, Howard McCurdy of Youngstown, Ohio, James McCurdy of Freeport and David McCurdy of Tarentum; 17 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. A brother, Don Herold of Saxonburg also survives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie L. McCurdy, who died April 27, 2001, and two brothers.

Julia M. Foley
Julia M. Foley, 77, of Butler died Sunday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born Oct. 7, 1924, in Bessemer, she was the daughter of Thomas and Anna Stelbotsky Chuba.
She had been a waitress at the Butler Country Club for five years and last worked at the Tanglewood Inn.
Mrs. Foley was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church.
She is survived by five sons, Thomas P., Robert B., Jeffrey L. and Gary F. Foley, all of Butler, and Lawrence J. Foley of Jersey City, N.J.; two daughters, Theresa A. Oas of Erie and Mrs. Ike (Carol) Jackson of Vicksburg, Miss.; six grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
Four brothers, Thomas, John and Steven Chuba, all of Butler, and Joseph Chuba of Orlando, Fla.; four sisters, Mrs. Jack (Ana Mae) Patterson of Erlington, Ky., Georgia Chuba and Mrs. Joseph (Lillian) Matula, both of Kingwood, Texas, and Joann Ferrari of Zelienople; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
She was the widow of Thomas P. Foley, Jr., who died May 14, 1980. A brother and a sister also preceded her in death.

Francis E. ‘Frank’ Elder
Francis E. “Frank” Elder, 51, of Fombell, Beaver County, died Saturday at Passavant Hospital, McCandless.
Born June 12, 1950, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of James B. and Edith Johnson Elder.
He operated Office Products Stock Room on Main Street, Zelienople.
He enjoyed cooking.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth K. Elder, whom he married Aug. 17, 1974; two sons, Tobias K. and Zachary B. Elder, both of Fombell; a daughter, Seven E. Elder of West Chester; two sisters, Maryann Paslawski of Harmony and Cindy Scuilla of Virginia.
He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
ELDER - Friends of Francis E. “Frank” Elder, who died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME, 324 E.
