Richard E. Truby, age 74 of Dutchtown Road, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Monday, January 24, 2005 at 6:00 a.m. at his residence.
Born April 2, 1930 in Butler, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Richard J. Truby and the late Dorothy Brewster Truby Morrison.
Mr. Truby was a machinist for Armco Steel for 44 years retiring in 1992. He was a member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Mr. Truby was a veteran of the Korean War and a recipient of the Bronze Star and Purple Heart for injuries received during the Korean War. He enjoyed boating and was an avid hunter. He was a member of VFW Post #249, Butler, Pennsylvania.
Mr. Truby is survived by his wife Nancy Jane (Janey) Truby whom he marriage on October 12, 1950, by three daughters, Mrs. David (Sherry) Grenci of Butler, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Ed (Barb) McCaffrey of Saxonburg, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Melvin (Marcy) McChesney of Butler, Pennsylvania; and by nine grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, January 25, from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, January 26, 2005 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Thursday, January 27, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Philip W. Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Burial Estates.

VFW Post 249 will conduct Military Honor's on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
Janice Gardner Cook
May 24, 1924 - January 23, 2005
Janice Gardner Cook, age 80 of Midlothian, Virginia, formerly of Butler, died Sunday, January 23, 2005 at11:00 p.m. in Laurels at Willowcreek Nursing Home, Richmond, Virginia.
Born May 24, 1924 in Bradford, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late Joseph R. Carvolth and the late Blanche Gardner.
Mrs. Cook was a caseworker for Department of Welfare for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. She was a former member of Community Alliance and Faith Fellowship Alliance Churches. Mrs. Cook was an alumnus of Bradford High School, class of 1942 and Penn State University, class of 1945 with a BA degree in psychology.
Mrs. Cook is survived by her husband, Charles E. Cook, whom she marriage on August 23, 1947, by four sons, Stephen R. Cook of Baldwinsville, New York, David C. Cook of Chesterfield, Missouri, Reed A. Cook of Manakin-Sabot, Virginia, Charles E. Cook, Jr. of Fort Myers, Florida; Seven Grandchildren; and by one sister, Mrs. Richard (Carolyn) Harder of Dallas, Texas
Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by one sister.
Friends will be received at Faith Fellowship Alliance Church, 200 Faithway-Fared Drive, on Friday, January 28, 2005 from 9 to 10 a.m.
Services will be held at the Faith Fellowship Alliance Church on Friday, January 28, 2005 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Richard P. Jenks officiating. Interment will follow in McKean Memorial Park.
Betty J. Morris
June 3, 1923 - January 22, 2005
Mrs. Betty Jane Morris, age 81, a resident at Concordia Lutheran Ministries for the past three years and formerly of Portersville, Pennsylvania, passed away Saturday, January 22, 2005 at 3:00 a.m. in the Concordia Lutheran Home.
Born in Coalport, Pennsylvania on June 3, 1923, she was the daughter of the late John Miles and Esther Nedimyer Miles.
Mrs. Morris and her late husband the Reverend Joseph B. Morris who passed away on April 18, 1994 served in the ministry at the Portersville Christian and Missionary Alliance Church for forty-eight years in addition to serving at several other churches. They were at the church when Portersville Christian School began.
She is survived by three sons, Joseph B. Morris of Volant, Pennsylvania, Dennis K. Morris of Portersville, Pennsylvania and Jeffrey T. Morris of Grove City, Pennsylvania, one daughter, Jandice Lee Morris of Polk, Pennsylvania. six grandchildren, five sisters, Florene Pitcock of Orville, Ohio, Mrs. Charles (Luella) Desmett of Tallmadge, Ohio, Mrs. Twila Smeyers of Irvona, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Bud (Vivian) Michaels of Barnsboro, Pennsylvania, Mrs. (Ray) Dona Gilham of State College, Pennsylvania. four brothers, John Miles Jr. of Irvona, Pennsylvania, Floyd Miles of Coalport, Pennsylvania, Roger Miles of Irvona, Pennsylvania, Jerry Miles of Coalport, Pennsylvania and by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers.

Eleanor M. Oesterling, age 82 of Center Drive, Chicora, Pennsylvania, died Wednesday, January 19, 2005 in Sunnyview Home.
Born November 30, 1922 in Oakland Township, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late John Covert and the late Emma Hutchens.
Mrs. Oesterling was a homemaker. She was a member of North Butler Presbyterian Church. For 16 years, she worked at the Butler Memorial Hospital in the dietary department. She was a member of the Moraine Blazing Star Campers.
Mrs. Oesterling is survived by her husband, Loyal G. Oesterling of Butler, Pennsylvania who she marriage March 29, 1946; her daughter, Mrs. Robert (Sandra) Lintz of Chicora, Pennsylvania; her son, John L. Oesterling of Butler, Pennsylvania; her seven grandchildren, her ten great grandchildren, her sister, Mrs. Dorothy Lawler of Evans City, Pennsylvania; her brother, Thomas Covert of Chicora, Pennsylvania and a number of nieces and nephews. Two sisters and two brothers preceded her in death.

Elsie R. Myers Zarnick Moyer

Elsie Myers Zarnick Moyer, age 100 of Country Club Road, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Saturday, January 15, 2005 at 7:40 a.m. at Evie's County Care, Butler, Pennsylvania.
Born April 27, 1904 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey she was the daughter of the late Charles M. Myers and the late Minnie Marie Peterson.
Mrs. Moyer was a private duty nurse, LPN, for 24 years retiring in 1978 at the age of 78 years old. Previously she had worked at the Spaide Shirt Factory and the shell shop at Pullman during World War II. She attended Nixon United Methodist Church. Mrs. Moyer was a former member of Calvary Presbyterian Church on the Diamond. She was a member of the Women's Club of Nixon, she enjoyed traveling, playing cards and gardening.
Mrs. Moyer is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Colleen Collins of Butler, Pennsylvania; one son, United States Army Retired Lt. Col. Dale L. Zarnick of Butler, Pennsylvania; eleven grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, and by a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Moyer was preceded in death by her first husband, Wencel P. Zarnick who passed away on January 17, 1968 and by her second husband, Frederick R. Moyer who passed away on September 10, 1980, by a great-great-grandchild, one sister, and four brothers.

S. Bruce. McGarvey, age 60 of Seneca Drive, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Friday, January 14, 2005 at 1:59 p.m. in Allegheny General Hospital.
Born October 24, 1944 in Butler, Pennsylvania he was the son of Elizabeth Vaughn and the late Shirl W. McGarvey.
Mr. McGarvey retired in 1986 from the Processing Maintenance department for Armco Steel. Following his retirement he worked for Hein Starter shop. He was also a self-employed electrician. He was known to his family and friends as a mechanic, electrician and carpenter extraordinaire. His was an alumni of Butler High School class of 1962. Mr. McGarvey was also a veteran of the Vietnam War.
Mr. McGarvey is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Jason (Sheri) Kostelac of Charlotte, North Carolina; one son, Jeffrey McGarvey of Butler, Pennsylvania; his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Vaughn McGarvey of Butler, Pennsylvania; four grandchildren, one brother, V. Brent McGarvey of Ohio; one sister, Mrs. James (Jane) Schaffner of Butler, Pennsylvania and four nieces and nephews.

Mary L. Majetich, age 82 of Lancaster, New York, died Friday, January 14, 2005 at 9:15 a.m. in the Elderwood Heath Care Center in Lancaster.
Born November 25, 1922 in Butler, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late Byron Coulter and the late Margaret Meyer.
Mrs. Majetich was a homemaker and she was baptist by faith. She enjoyed collecting stamps and antiques.
Mrs. Majetich is survived by her husband, Victor Majetich who he marriage January 12, 1949, her daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Kathi) Phelps of Grand Island, New York; her son, Steven Majetich of Williamsville, New York; six grandchildren; her brother, Dick Coulter of Butler, Pennsylvania; her two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Fair of Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania and Mrs. Alice Issacco of Butler, Pennsylvania and a number of nieces and nephews. Two brothers preceded her in death.
