Catherine Moore McLachlan, 82, a 37-year resident of Natrona Heights, died Sunday at Allegheny General hospital, Pittsburgh. She previously lived in Sarver for 45 years.
Born Dec. 27, 1918, in Natrona, she was the daughter of Patrick J. Sr., and Helen Welsh Moore.
She retired as a nurse’s assistant at St. Barnabas Nursing Home, Gibsonia after 15 years.
Mrs. McLachlan was a member of Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Parish, Most Blessed Sacrament Worship Site, Natrona Heights. She formerly had been a 40-year member of Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Cabot. She also belonged to the St. Joseph Church Christian Mothers, the Buffalo Township Senior Citizens and the Holy Family Prayer Group.
She enjoyed traveling.
Surviving are three sons, William P. McLachlan of Leechburg, Thomas J. McLachlan of Gibsonia and Robert J. McLachlan of Curwensville, Clearfield County; a daughter, Catherine M. Boggs of West Sunbury; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Two brothers, Edward Moore of Tarentum and Joseph Moore of Lower Burrell; and three sisters, Patricia Pakulski and Rose DiIenno and Marie Factor, all of Natrona Heights, also survive.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William J. McLachlan, who died in 1973; three brothers, and a sister.

Phoebe I. Kern
Phoebe I. Kern, 78, of Kittanning died Monday at Armstrong County Health Center, Kittanning.
Born Jan. 14, 1923, in Kittanning, she was the daughter of Elsie Hall.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening and cooking.
Mrs. Kern was a Catholic.
She is survived by her husband, Louis Kern of Butler; three daughters, Mary Woodridge of Columbus, Ohio, Mrs. Robert (Susan) Fleeger of Butler and Mrs. Edward (Rose) Bell of Kittanning; three sons, Joseph Puskar of Kittanning, Jim Rosenberger of Eagle Pass, Texas, and Merle Johns of Warren, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two brothers, Crawford Rumbarger of Kittanning and William Rumbarger of Poland, Ohio; and two sisters, Bonnie Horkey of Poland, Ohio, and Martha Boyer of Youngstown, Ohio.
Her first husband, Florian S. Puskar, died in 1977. Two sons and a sister also preceded her in death.
KERN - Friends of Phoebe I. Kern, who died Monday, June 4, 2001, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at KENNEDY-BLODGETT FUNERAL HOME, 253 N. Grant Ave., Kittanning. Arthur M. Delano
Arthur M. Delano, 84, of East Brady died Sunday at the Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
Born July 7, 1916, in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of Angelo and Concentina Carestia Delano.
He retired after 36 years at U.S. Steel in Cleveland.
Mr. Delano was a member of St. Eusebius Roman Catholic Church of East Brady, where he had been president of the Holy Name Society, an extraordinary Eucharistic minister and a hospitality minister. He was also active in the Cursillo Movement of the Erie Diocese.
From 1935 to 1937, he served in Company H, 34th Infantry, Army’s Hawaiian Department. In March 1944, he re-enlisted and served in the Army’s 97th Chemical Mortar Battalion. He campaigned in Central Europe and was the recipient of an American Campaign Ribbon, an EAMET Service Ribbon, a Good Conduct Medal and a World War II Victory Medal.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 488 of Bradys Bend.
In 1938, he participated in a march from Washington, D.C. to Gettysburg to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg.
He enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing.
Surviving are his wife, Verna J. Poshedly Delano, whom he married June 21, 1941, in Cleveland; two sons, Arthur M. Delano Jr. of Sugarcreek Township, Armstrong County, and David Delano of Butler; a sister, Mary D. Irwin of Little Rock, Ark.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters, and a grandson.
DELANO - Friends of Arthur M. Delano, who died Sunday, June 3, 2001, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at CHARLES B. BUECHELE FUNERAL HOME, 105 Fourth St., East Brady. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Eusebius Church, East Brady. The Rev. William Kuba, church pastor, will officiate. Burial will be at the church Cemetery , Brady Township, Clarion County.
American Legion Post 488 will hold a memorial services at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. It also will conduct graveside military honors on Thursday.
A parish prayer service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Edwin ‘Jerry’ Clarke III
Edwin “Jerry” Clarke III, 37, of Butler died at 5:26 p.m. Sunday.
Born Jan. 19, 1964, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of Edwin Clarke Jr. and Donna Mills.
He worked for Shawrose Construction in Coraopolis, where he was a tower erector.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Allison Maier Clarke, whom he married Aug. 6, 1994.
Also surviving is a daughter, Darien Clarke, and two sons, Kristopher and Reno Clarke, all at home; and three sisters: Mrs. Robert (Charlene) Hoglund and Laurie Clarke, both of Florida, and Karen Charles of Zelienople.
CLARKE - Friends of Edwin “Jerry” Clarke III, who died Sunday, June 3, 2001, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9:15 p.m. Wednesday at YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, West Jefferson Street, Butler. Services will be held at 9:15 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Patrick Summers of Crossway Church officiating. A private burial will be held in West Sunbury Cemetery .
William ‘Bud’ Gebhardt
William A. “Bud” Gebhardt, 78, of Zelienople died Tuesday at Passavant Hospital, McCandless.
Born April 19, 1923, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of Paul G. and Violet J. McMaster Gebhardt.
He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Zelienople.
He was a World War II Army veteran.
Surviving are three sons, the Rev. William A. Gebhardt Jr. of Kenner, La., Gary L. Gebhardt of Zelienople and Curt M. Gebhardt of New Brighton; two grandsons; and two great-granddaughters. A brother, Richard “Sam” Gebhardt of Evans City; and three sisters, Gertrude “Nancy” Daubenspeck, Mrs. Robert (Dee) Vollrath and Mrs. Donald (Shirley) Huffman, all of Zelienople, also survive.
His wife, Esther Sutch Gebhardt, to whom he was married for 49 years, died March 5, 1997. Two brothers and four sisters also preceded him in death.
GEBHARDT - Friends of William A. “Bud” Gebhardt, who died Tuesday, June 5, 2001, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople. Joan ‘JoAnn’ Colsey
Joan “JoAnn” Claypoole Colsey, 73, formerly of South Nyack, N.Y., died Tuesday at Arden Hill Hospital, Goshen, N.Y.
Born Oct. 2, 1927, in Butler, she was the daughter of Lloyd and Bernice Fulton Claypoole.
She was a 1945 alumna of Butler High School and graduated from Capitol University of Columbus, Ohio, in 1947.
Mrs. Colsey lived in South Nyack until 1981 and retired in 1997 from Sears Roebuck of Nanuet, N.Y., after 30 years in customer service.
She was a member of the Maqueda Chapter 421 of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She loved music and had been an orchestra and band saxophone player.
Surviving are her husband, Lloyd Corwin Colsey, whom she married in 1950; two sons, Lloyd Claypoole Colsey of Butler; and Alan Blair Colsey of Valley Cottage, N.Y.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Earl A. Baumgartel
Earl A. Baumgartel, 81, formerly of Springdale, Allegheny County, died Tuesday at the Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
Born May 6, 1920, in West Deer Township, Allegheny County, he was the son of Joseph F. and Lena H. Seibert Baumgartel.
Mr. Baumgartel retired as director of engineering at St. Francis Medical Center.
He was a member of the Springdale Presbyterian Church and John E. Mair F&AM Lodge 729. He was a life member of the VFW Post 249 of Butler, the Hospital Engineers of Southwestern Pennsylvania and the American Society of Hospital Engineering.
During World War II, he served as an Army sergeant and received the Bronze Star and Victory Medal.
He is survived by two sons, Dr. Earl D. Baumgartel of Loveland, Colo., and Ronald L. Baumgartel of Cranberry Township; a daughter, Mrs. David (Joyce) Howard of Tarentum; a sister, Helen Wylie of Clinton Township; a brother, Ralph Baumgartel of Murrysville; and six grandchildren.
His wife, Edna Hamilton Baumgartel, and a brother preceded him in death.

Bartram G. Murray III
Bartram G. Murray III, 81, of Zephyrhills, Fla., formerly of Sarver, died Tuesday at East Pasco Medical Center in Florida.
Born in Cheswick, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bartram G. Murray Jr.
He had worked in the steel industry.
Mr. Murray was a member of Tyrian Lodge 644 F&AM of Lower Burrell, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of New Castle, Syria Temple of Pittsburgh and the Odd Fellows of New Kensington.
He was a World War II veteran of the Army Air Corps.
Surviving are his wife, Mabel Rahner Murray; a son, Bartram G. Murray IV of Zephyrhills; a daughter, Debra Rothen of Saxonburg; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, H. Bruce Murray of Zephyrhills and D. Wayne Murray of Flowery Branch, Ga.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A daughter preceded him in death.

Howard Heim
Howard Heim, 84, formerly of Saxonburg, died Wednesday at his home in Richmond, Va.
Born in West Winfield, March 11, 1917, he was the son of Albert and Elvia Smith Heim.
He retired after 13 years as superintendent of Saxonburg Borough. He previously was self-employed. He also served on the Saxonburg Planning Commission for 20 years.
Mr. Heim was a member of the Hill United Presbyterian Church, a 50-year member of the Butler Masonic Lodge and a member of Saxonburg VFW Post 7376.
He was a World War II Army veteran.
Surviving are a son and a daughter, Jeffrey Heim and Mrs. Art (Becky) Matz, both of Richmond; and two grandchildren. Three sisters, Mrs. Walter (Grace) Wiegand of Sarver, and Mrs. William (Viola) McFarland and Mrs. Roland (Ester) Germuth, both of Ellicott City, Md., also survive.

Rene P. Pellegrini
Rene P. Pellegrini, 78, of 611 W. Penn St. died Thursday, June 7, 2001, at Sunnyview Nursing Home.
Born Jan. 5, 1923, in Butler, he was a son of Primo and Cesira Collodi Pellegrini.
He retired in 1985 as a driver for the City of Butler Street Department after more than 20 years.
Mr. Pellegrini was a member of St. Anthony Antiochian Orthodox Church, where he was a former board member and vice president of the church.
He was a World War II veteran of the Army Air Corps and a member of VFW Post 249 and American Legion Post 778 of Lyndora. He was also a member of the Slovak Club in Lyndora.
Surviving are his wife, Norma J. Isaac Pellegrini, whom he married Jan. 29, 1949; a daughter, Mrs. James (Susan) McIntyre of California; two brothers, Arthur and Joseph Pellegrini, both of Butler; a sister, Yolanda Pucci of Butler; two grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Two sisters preceded him in death.
