Joseph James Langa, 91, of Country Club Road, Franklin Township, died Friday, May 11, 2001, at Sunnyview Nursing Home.
Born Feb. 14, 1910, in Vandergrift, he was the son of Theodore and Mary Majcik Langa.
He was a member of St. Christopher at the Lake Catholic Church.
Mr. Langa retired from Country Bell in Mount Chestnut where he had been a mechanic.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Kudamik Langa, whom he married Nov. 9, 1936; three sons, Theodore and David Langa, both of Butler, and Thomas Langa of Fresno, Calif.; a daughter, Irene Langa of Portland, Ore.; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. A sister, Mrs. Vince (Madge) Dipinti of Bedford, Ohio, and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by three sisters.
Visitation was private. A funeral Mass was today at St. Christopher at the Lake Church with the Rev. Matthew Tosello officiating. Burial was at Calvary Cemetery .

Dorothy J. Gardner
Dorothy J. Gardner, 82, of Butler died at 10:16 p.m. Saturday at Butler Memorial Hospital. She had been a resident of the Evergreen Nursing Center in Harmony for the past few years.
Born March 22, 1919, in New Castle, she was the daughter of William and Josephine Fisher Smith.
She was a member of St Peter’s Episcopal Church and the Episcopal Church Women.
She is survived by a son, Edward S. Gardner III; and a grandson, David G. Gardner, both of Wexford.
Her husband, Edward S. Gardner Jr., whom she married Sept. 26, 1952, died March 6, 1987. A sister and a brother also preceded her in death.
GARDNER - Friends of Dorothy J. Gardner, who died Saturday, May 12, 2001, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 127 W. Jefferson St. Everyone is to meet Thursday at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 218 E. Jefferson St., where services will be held at 12:30 p.m. The Rev. Bruce Geary, church pastor, will officiate. There will be no visitation Wednesday. Burial will be at Oak Park Cemetery , New Castle.
Eva M. Francestine
Eva M. Francestine, 90, formerly of Brown Avenue, died Saturday evening at Mon-Valley Hospital, Monongahela.
Born in Donora Oct. 12, 1910, she was the daughter of Charles and Ina Nicastra Gatti.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church.
She is survived by a son, Ernie F. Francestine Jr. of Butler; three daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Joann) Huth of Butler, Mrs. Arnold (Janet) Fantauzzi of Belle Vernon and Mrs. Donna Torquato of Ashtabula, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Her husband, Ernie F. Francestine Sr., died Oct. 17, 1996. A daughter, two brothers and six sisters also preceded her in death.
FRANCESTINE - There will be no public visitation. A Mass of Christian burial for Eva M. Francestine, who died Saturday, May 12, 2001, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, Franklin Street. The Rev. Jack Nanz, church pastor, will officiate. Burial will be at St. Michael Cemetery , Freeport Road, Summit Township.
The Women’s Council of St. Peter Church will meet at 9:40 a.m. Tuesday at the church to recite the rosary.
Mary Jo Mohn-Covert
Mary Jo Mohn-Covert, 48, of 325 W. Jefferson St. died Saturday at her home after battling cancer since July 1997.
Born in Butler, Dec. 10, 1952, she was the daughter of Joseph D. Mohn Jr. and Rose C. Kaib Mohn Smith.
She was a 1971 graduate of Butler High School and was a driver’s license technician at the Butler Driver’s License Center. She also had been a visual merchandising specialist and a pre-school assistant group supervisor.
Mrs. Mohn-Covert was a member of the First English Lutheran Church, where she was a youth group leader, nursery supervisor and involved in the community meals. She also was involved with other area church nursery and youth programs, including the Grace Lutheran Church, First United Methodist Church and Christ Community Methodist Church.
Beginning in 1969, she was involved with Butler Little Theatre and the Musical Theatre Guild, where she was best known for her set decoration, properties and window displays. She also delighted children and adult audiences with her original clowning, puppet shows and face painting.
Mrs. Mohn-Covert was on the board of directors of the Butler County Music and Arts Festival, where she was head of the adult and children’s performing arts. She also was a member of the Butler Arts Council.
For 15 years, she was involved with Slippery Rock High School, where she was an adult backstage adviser for set decoration and properties for school plays and musicals. She also assisted with Knoch High School’s theater programs for 10 years.
She received many awards, including the Volunteer of the Year Award from the American Cancer Society-Butler Unit and numerous Butler Little Theatre production awards. Her most recent award was a life membership for her outstanding contribution to Butler Little Theatre.
Surviving are her husband, Raymond L. Covert; a son, Ryan Michael Donley at home; and stepsons, Bart and Judd Covert, both of Butler.
She also is survived by her father of Chicora; her mother and stepfather, William A. Smith of Butler; a sister, Lu Anne Mohn Fettig of Lake Worth, Fla.; three brothers, Jay Daniel Mohn of Karns City, Dean Richard Mohn of Sarver and Lee Alan Mohn of Butler; two half-brothers, Michael Douglas Mohn of Chicora and Patrick Joseph Mohn of Karns City; and 15 nieces and nephews.
MOHN-COVERT - Friends of Mary Jo Mohn-Covert who died Saturday, May 12, 2001, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday at MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, 429 Center Ave., and from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at First English Lutheran Church. A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church with the Rev. James Dollhopf, church pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Butler County Memorial Park, Butler Township.

Myrtle E. Alderson
Myrtle E. Alderson, 93, of Cabot died Sunday at Concordia Home.
Born April 19, 1908, in Butler, she was the daughter of Charles and Isabel (Dietrich) Wright.
Mrs. Alderson was a homemaker and a member of the Jefferson Center Church in Saxonburg and the Saxonburg Golden Agers.
She enjoyed cooking and baking.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Leland (Joan) Cooper of Cabot and Georgetta Schrecengost and Maybelle Hassler, both of Saxonburg; two sisters, Mrs. Clarence (Grace) Beers of New Kensington and Mrs. Charles (Catherine) Yeasted of Tarentum; two half-sisters, Pauline Berry and Lavada Seckaniec, both of Butler; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and five step-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard W. Alderson, who died Dec. 31, 1980; a daughter, Wanda Richards; a grandson; a great-grandson; a sister; and four brothers.
ALDERSON - Friends of Myrtle E. Alderson, who died Sunday, May 13, 2001, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at FOX FUNERAL HOME, Saxonburg. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Paul Roberts, pastor of Summit United Presbyterian Church, officiating. Donald D. Bintrim
Donald D. Bintrim, 68, of Harmony died July 21 at St. John’s Specialty Care Center in Mars.
Born Nov. 4, 1934, in Lancaster Township, he was a son of Ira and Pearl Druschel Bintrim.
Mr. Bintrim was a structural engineer who helped with the construction of hangar doors in Cape Canaveral, Fla.; for the president’s helicopter in Washington, D.C., and for the hangar doors that housed the Stealth Bomber.
He worked for the military in Deago Garcia and traveled to Venezuela to install hangar doors at a hydro-electric plant.
Mr. Bintrim also assisted in the construction of the ski lifts in Sunday River and Sugar Loaf Mountain in Maine and Boyce Park.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Zion Lutheran Church. He also held memberships with the Harmony Lodge 429 Free and Accepted Masons.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed camping and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Stenzel Bintrim, whom he married Nov. 14, 1964; a daughter, Dawn Mawhinney of Rohnert Park, Calif.; a son, Eric Bintrim of Shenango; three sisters, Velma Cleland of Lancaster Township, Dorothy Brandenburg of Chambersburg and Emma Lou Knauff of Zelienople.
Also surviving are two grandsons, Kevin Patrick Mawhinney and Ethan Michael Bintrim.
He was preceded in death by six brothers.
BINTRIM - A memorial service for Donald D. Bintrim, who died Monday, July 21, 2003, will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church, Harmony. The Rev. Peggy Suhr-Barkley, church pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the Greenlawn Burial Estates, Butler.

Arthur R. Beilstein Jr.
Arthur R. Beilstein Jr., 69, of Butternut Road, Karns City died at 5 p.m. Saturday at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh following a brief illness.
Born in Butler on Oct. 6, 1933, he was a son of Arthur R. and Viola Miller Beilstein.
He had been employed as an independent contract carrier for the Butler Eagle and Risher News Agency of Butler.
He attended Martinsburg Presbyterian Church in Bruin and graduated from Butler High School in 1952.
Mr. Beilstein was an avid race fan who drove the No. 55 stock car from 1960 to 1964 at the Butler Fairgrounds Racetrack. He also enjoyed camping and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen E. Bailey Beilstein, whom he married on Aug. 28, 1954, in East Brady; two sons, R. Dean Beilstein of Hubbard, Ohio and Ronald R. Beilstein of Fenelton; a daughter, Mrs. Ronald E. (Cheryl Ann) Hinton of Butler; a brother, Robert Lee Beilstein of Butler; six grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter.
BEILSTEIN - A memorial service for Arthur R. Beilstein Jr., who died Saturday, July 26, 2003, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Martinsburg Presbyterian Church in Bruin. The Rev. Terry Kennedy will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to the Martinsburg Presbyterian Church Building Fund, Bruin, PA 16022.

Arthur R. Beilstein Jr.
Arthur R. Beilstein Jr., who died Saturday, was born Oct. 8, 1933, and drove the No. 95 stock car from 1960 to 1964 at the Butler Fairgrounds Racetrack.
His obituary in Monday’s newspaper had an incorrect day of birth and car number.
Ruby C. Bartholomew
Ruby C. Bartholomew, 99, of Butler, formerly of Cabot, died Sunday at Sunnyview Nursing Home.
Born in Jefferson Township, Dec. 9, 1903, she was the daughter of Fred L. and Ida Parks Dyke.
She was a homemaker.
Surviving are two sons, Donald E. and Kenneth P. Bartholomew, both of Butler; three daughters, Alene Eltman of Cabot and Edith Coleman and Eva Lucille Bartholomew, both of Butler; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence R. “Barney” Bartholomew, who died Aug. 28, 1986; a brother; and four sisters.

Floyd L. Kerry
Floyd L. Kerry, 92, of Butler died Monday at his home after an extended illness.
Born July 25, 1911, in Brockway, Jefferson County, he was the son of John and Agnes Sutley Kerry.
He retired as a supervisor at the former Armco-Butler Works and was a member of St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church, Butler.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Ray (Beverly) Paulick of Butler; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
His wife, Marie Birckbichler Kerry, whom he married June 25, 1932, died March 30, 1999. Four brothers and five sisters also preceded him in death.
