John L. “Jack” McCool Sr., 82, of 301 S. Broad St., Grove City, died at 5:15 a.m. Friday at Orchard Manor, Grove City.
Born in Kiester, Cherry Township, April 22, 1921, he was the son of John G. and Hattie Adams McCool.
He attended Harrisville schools and retired in 1983 as machinist at Cooper Energy Services, Grove City, after 43 years. He also had worked for Harold Jamison in Harrisville at the Jamison Funeral Home and monument company and had been a bus driver for Snyders.
Mr. McCool served in the Navy during World War II and was a charter member and past commander of the Harrisville American Legion Post 852 and a life member of the Cherry Valley VFW. He was a former chief of the Harrisville Volunteer Fire Department and enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing.
Surviving are his wife, Drusilla A. “Dolly” Coffin McCool, whom he married May 24, 1943, in Mercer; a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Judy) Scialabba of Butler; two sons, John L. “Larry” McCool Jr. of Grove City and Gary E. McCool of Harrisville; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Three brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
McCOOL - Friends of John L. “Jack” McCool Sr., who died Friday, July 18, 2003, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at JAMISON FUNERAL HOME, 117 N. Main St., Harrisville. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jack Patterson, chaplain of Orchard Manor, officiating. Burial will be at Prairie Cemetery , Harrisville.

James T. Kristoff
James T. Kristoff, 73, of Butler died at 4:15 p.m. July 11, 2003, in Sugar Creek Rest.
He was born Jan. 3, 1930, and served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
There are no known survivors.
Services were Friday at the YOUNG FUNERAL HOME in Butler with Chaplain William Ritzert of the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Butler officiating. He was buried in West Sunbury Union Cemetery .
Bertram H. Knauer
Bertram H. Knauer, 66, of 19 K&L Lane, Butler Township, died at 6 p.m. Thursday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born in Butler, Nov. 1, 1936, he was the son of Helen Brookhart Knauer and the late Bertrand H. Knauer.
An Army veteran, he retired May 31, 1996, from the weld shop at Armco-Butler Works after 32 years.
Mr. Knauer was a member of the Hill United Presbyterian Church, where he was an elder. He also belonged to the Moose Lodge 64 and the Butler County Law Enforcement group.
Surviving are his wife, Edna Mae McKinnis Knauer, whom he married Dec. 16, 1961; a daughter, Michele Hull of Butler; and two grandchildren. He also is survived by his mother of Butler; two sisters, Mrs. John (Joanne) Heim of Butler and Mrs. James (Nancy) Burns Medina, Ohio; a brother, Robert Knauer of Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews
KNAUER - Friends of Bertram H. Knauer, who died Thursday, July 19, 2003, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with his church pastor, the Rev. Clark Sawyer, officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Burial Estates, Mount Chestnut.
Graveside military honors will be conducted by members of VFW Post 249.

Barbara Sue Jordan
Barbara Sue Snow Jordan, 62, of Valencia died Saturday morning at her home after an illness.
Born in Butler, Sept. 17, 1940, she was the daughter of the Louise Henry Snow of Valencia and the late Jacob D. “Smokey” Snow.
She had been a dietician at Fosnight’s Personal Care Home in Valencia, and also worked at Hair Wizards Beauty Salon in Mars.
Mrs. Jordan was affiliated with the Northway Christian Community in Wexford.
Surviving are her husband, William A. Jordan, whom she married on Aug. 26, 2000; a daughter, Bonnie Sue Nichols of Mars; two sons, Allen G. Nichols of Butler and Dale R. Nichols of Mars; two stepsons, William A. Jordan Jr. of Shaler Township and Gregory Jordan of Cranberry Township; two stepdaughters, Misty Bowman of South Carolina and Janice Damien of Virginia; three brothers, Rodger D. Snow of Mars, Russell J. Snow of Valencia and Gary L. Snow of West Deer; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant sister.

Ralph W. Frishkorn
Ralph W. Frishkorn, 96, of Zelienople died Saturday at Ellwood City Hospital.
Born Oct. 10, 1906, in Jackson Township, he was the son of William and Mamie Drushel Frishkorn.
Mr. Frishkorn was retired from the Zelie Greenhouse, where he worked for 59 years in the sales department
He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Evans City, where he was the oldest baptized member.
He was an avid Pirate’s fan and Penguin’s fan. He also enjoyed hunting.
He is survived by a son, Dale Frishkorn of Zelienople; three daughters, Mrs. Lewis (Ruth) Mullenax, Mrs. Ronald (Eileen) Budisky and Mrs. Arlene Cameron, all of Harmony; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. He was also survived by his long-term caregiver, Larry Taylor.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Stella Burr Frishkorn, who died Nov. 21, 1989; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
FRISHKORN - Friends of Ralph W. Frishkorn, who died Saturday, July 12, 2003, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at KINSEY-VOLZ FUNERAL HOME, Evans City. Additional visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Evans City, where funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Kenneth Thomas officiating. Ralph W. Frishkorn, who died Saturday, is survived by a daughter, Eilene Budisky, whose first name was incorrect in Monday’s newspaper.
Bernice M. Hausmann Evanko
Bernice M. Hausmann Evanko, 76, of Butler, formerly of Greentree, died Sunday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born June 29, 1927, in Milwaukee, Wis., she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Hausmann.
She was a member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church in Herman, Pa.
Mrs. Evanko is survived by two children and their spouses, Dr. David Evanko and his wife Catherine of Butler; and Heidi Evanko-Kunselman and her husband Michael of Chicago; five grandchildren, Carl, Vincent, Ryan, Nicole and Kevin; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two children Joseph and Mary Evanko; and a brother, George Hausmann.
EVANKO - Friends of Bernice M. Hausmann Evanko, who died Sunday, July 13, 2003, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at COPELAND FUNERAL SERVICE, 981 Brodhead Road, Moon Township. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary Church, Moon Township. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery .

Edward ‘Gene’ Clinton
Edward E. “Gene” Clinton, 67, of Mars, formerly of Worthington, died Saturday at Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh after an illness.
Born in Bakerstown on Sept. 27, 1935, he was the son of William and Margaret Conley Clinton.
He had been an asbestos worker and insulator for Union Local 2 in Pittsburgh.
Mr. Clinton was a member of the First Baptist Church in Butler and had belonged to Worthington Lions Club.
Surviving are his wife, Andrea Hooks Clinton, whom he married Nov. 17, 1989; a daughter, Mrs. Eugene (Cassie) Nickerson of Indiana, Pa.; three sons, Mark Clinton of Freeport, Jeff Clinton of Cabot and Tim Clinton of Sarver; two sisters, Margaret Colpo of Mars and Eleanor Johnson of East Palestine, Ohio; two brothers, Robert D. “Skip” Clinton of Mars and Hugh “Bud” Clinton of Cabot; and eight grandchildren.
His first wife, Dorothy Volz Clinton, died Oct. 3, 1987.
A brother also preceded him in death.

Adeline C. Shoup
Adeline C. Shoup, 89, of Titusville, formerly of Parker, died Monday at Clarview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Sligo after a brief illness.
Born July 28, 1913, in Foxburg, she was the daughter of James and Mary Cokley Ganoe.
Mrs. Shoup was a member of Parker Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Marian L. Shirey of Parker; two sons, John L. Shoup of Titusville and James R. Shoup of Melbourne, Fla.; three stepdaughters, Pamela Shirey of Ohio, Vickie Shirey of Callensburg and Dawn Krough of Rodgers, Ohio; a brother, James Ross Ganoe of California; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Lloyd F. Shoup, whom she married Nov. 20, 1936, died March 29, 1987.

Bertha F. Salusky
Bertha F. Henderson Salusky, 91, of Emlenton, formerly of Pittsburgh, died at 2:42 p.m. Monday at Sunnyview Home in Butler after a brief illness.
Born in Greenville on June 12, 1912, she was the daughter of Vant and Rella Stitt Henderson.
She was affiliated with the Bethel United Methodist Church of Eau Claire and was a member and past matron of the Order of the Eastern Star in Homestead Park in Pittsburgh.
Mrs. Salusky was a graduate of West Penn Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsburgh, where she became a registered nurse. She worked for West Penn for 12 years after graduation. She later worked as a nurse in the office of Dr. Boda in Pittsburgh.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Louise Farren of Sun City, Calif.; three sons, Dolphin Stalker of Eau Claire, Delmar Stalker of Sun City, Calif., and Gaylord Stalker of Livingston, Texas; a brother, Byron “Hank” Henderson of Eau Claire; two sisters, Doretha Kohls of Wheatland and Ruth Robb of West Middlesex; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Salusky, who died Jan. 10, 1999; and a brother.

Arthur D. ‘Dutch’ Reiff
Arthur D. “Dutch” Reiff, 60, of 370 Pittsburgh Road, formerly of Pittsburgh, died Saturday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born Jan. 27, 1943, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of William Duane and Elizabeth Schmidt Reiff.
He was a mail handler for the U.S. Postal Service and served as a master sergeant in the Air Force during the Vietnam War.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Kreller Reiff of Butler; two sons, Duane Reiff of Dayton, Ohio, and Christopher Reiff of Warren, Ohio; a daughter, Kimberly Dunn; a sister, Mary Labyoda of Pittsburgh; a brother, David Reiff of Pittsburgh; and four grandchildren.
