Donald Leroy “Cuttey” Thomas, 76, of 257 Old East Butler Road died at 1 p.m. Saturday at his home.
Born in Butler, March 5, 1927, he was the son of Martha Gilbert Thomas and the late Harry Thomas.
He was an Army veteran and retired in 1989 from International Staple as a press operator.
Mr. Thomas attended East Butler Presbyterian Church and was a life member of East Butler Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by his mother, Martha Gilbert Thomas of Butler; two sons, Donald Jr. and David Thomas, both of East Butler; five daughters, Mrs. Benjamin (Linda) Neff of Chicora, Ms. Carol Chitwood and Mary Ellen Sleigher, both of Butler, and Ms. Donna Rivera and Mrs. Thomas (Debbie) Raimondi, both of East Butler; 20 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers, Fred Thomas of Connoquenessing, Harry Thomas of Chicora and James Thomas of East Butler; three sisters, Mrs. Leonard (Janet) Nocera and Mrs. Eugene (Mabel) Hays, both of Butler, and Mrs. Donald (Sarah) Bortmas of East Butler; and many nieces and nephews.
His wife, Mary Lou Slomers Thomas, died July 12, 2001. A brother and two great-grandchildren also preceded him in death.

Gilbert ‘Gibby’ Smith
Gilbert H. “Gibby” Smith, 57, of Emlenton died Sunday morning at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh after a long illness.
Born Nov. 13, 1945, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of Harold and Ruth McLaughlin Smith.
He had worked in the foundry department at USX in Braddock for more than 20 years.
He served with the Army infantry in Germany from 1963 to 1965.
Mr. Smith was a former member and president of the Cherry Valley Borough Council.
He was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church at Murrinsville and the International Order of Odd Fellows Lodge 278 in Butler.
Surviving are his wife, Lynn Kristy Smith; a daughter, Mrs. Russ (Melissa “Missy”) Stroup of Eau Claire; a son, Bert Smith, at home; and a sister, Naomi Gregory of Beaver Creek, Ohio.
SMITH - Friends of Gilbert H. “Gibby” Smith, who died Sunday, July 13, 2003, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at H. JACK BUZARD FUNERAL HOME, Main Street, Eau Claire. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Murrinsville. The Rev. Albert Koser will officiate. Burial will be in Eau Claire Cemetery .
Patricia L. Hinchberger Royle
Patricia L. Hinchberger Royle, 68, of Beaver Falls died Sunday at Beaver Medical Center. She went to be with her Lord after a courageous 36-year battle with Multiple Sclerosis. She originally was of Butler.
Born Aug. 11, 1934, in Butler, she was a daughter of the late Claude W. “Dutch” and Evelyn “Evy” Plaisted Hinchberger.
She was a homemaker, and as a young lady, she worked for the Butler Savings and Trust Co., and Pullman-Standard.
She was a member of the Christ the Divine Teacher Catholic Church in Chippewa and formerly belonged to St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She was the widow of Larry S. Royle, who died June 20, 2003.
Surviving are three sons, Larry R. Royle of Chippewa, Jeff S. Royle of New Castle and Gene G. Royle of Patterson Township; a brother, Bill Hinchberger of Butler; and two sisters, Mrs. Mildred “Mid” Vaulet of Butler and Mrs. Richard (Carol) Wigton of Meridian. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, a great-grandson and numerous nieces and nephews.
ROYLE - Friends of Patricia L. Hinchberger Roy]e, who died Sunday, July 13, 2003, will be received at GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St., from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Raymond Trance officiating. Burial will follow at North Washington Cemetery .
The St. Paul Guild and Christian Mothers will recite the rosary at 10:35 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Mary A. McConahy
Mary A. McConahy, 87, of Zelienople died Sunday at the Evergreen Nursing Center in Harmony.
Born in Harmony on Oct. 23, 1915, she was the daughter of Albert and Amelia Gettman Schiedemantle.
She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Harmony and the Ladies of the Moose in Harmony.
Surviving are a son, Charles E. McConahy of Zelienople; a sister, Lillian Lawrence of Jackson Township; a daughter-in-law, Karen Kwiatek and her husband, who was Mary’s friend, John Kwiatek; two grandsons, Matthew and Lucas McConahy; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Charles E. McConahy, died in July 1986.
Two brothers also preceded her in death.
MCCONAHY - Friends of Mary A. McConahy, who died Sunday, July 13, 2003, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople. Wilbur D. Koegler
Wilbur D. Koegler, 45, of Vernon Lane died Friday at home.
Born Sept. 17, 1957, in Butler, he was a son of Reid and Mable Fisher Koegler.
He was employed at Days Inn Route 8 Butler in the housekeeping department. He formally worked at Pizza Hut on Cunningham Street for years.
He is survived by two brothers, Kevin Koegler of Butler and James Koegler of Karns City; a sister, Elaine Tack of Worthington; and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Duane R. Kabel
Duane R. Kabel, 70, of Bonniebrook Road died Saturday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born Nov. 16, 1932, in Butler, he was a son of F. Martin and Helen McGuire Kabel.
He had retired from the Hilltop silicon department, Armco-Butler Works, in 1995 after 30 years. He formerly worked part time as a school bus driver for Hervy Motors in East Butler. Prior to working at Armco, he worked at Penn Dixie Cement plant in West Winfield for 15 years. He was a member of the Butler Independent Union at Armco.
He was a volunteer at Butler Memorial Hospital and a member of St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church in Carbon Center, where he belonged to the Holy Name Society.
His wife, Alberta M. Kildoo Kabel, whom he married Feb. 23, 1952, survives. Also surviving are two sons, James M. and Ronald D. Kabel, both of Fenelton; a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Linda M.) Zach of Butler; five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother and two infant granddaughters.

Alessandra S. Hall
Alessandra Shauna Hall, 16, of Smithfield, N.C., died July 7 in an automobile accident at Route 8 and Branchton Road in Slippery Rock Township.
Her mother, Janet, her father, Kenneth Kerr Jr., her sister, Kathleen, and her brother, Kenneth Kerr III, all died as a result of the accident.
Born March 26, 1987, in Frederick County, Md., she was a daughter of Kenneth and Janet Jewell Kerr Jr.
She was a 10th grade student at Smithfield-Selma High School in Smithfield, N.C.
She enjoyed cosmetology, culinary arts and had strong artistic abilities and was a leader.
She is survived by her grandparents, Kenneth and Cathy Kerr, Robert and Mattie Jewell; aunts, uncles, cousins; and great-grandparents John and Thelma Steele.
Preceding her in death were her grandparents, Homer and Evelyn Kerr, Mrs. and Mrs. Spurgeon Jewell and Mr. and Mrs. Landis Hensley, an aunt, Wanda Jewell and a cousin.
Funeral services and burial will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Slippery Rock Cemetery .

Thelma G. Habenicht
Thelma Grace Habenicht, 88, of Saxonburg died Saturday at Saxony Health Center in Saxonburg.
Born Nov. 28, 1914, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of Walter and Elizabeth Dinkle Miller.
She and her husband owned Frank’s Sunoco Service Station in Penn Township.
Mrs. Habenicht was a former member of Covenant United Presbyterian Church in Butler.
Surviving are two sons, Frank “Beni” W. Habenicht of Butler and Bruce “Pete” W. Johnson of Orlando, Fla.; a daughter, Mrs. Joseph (Roseanne) Rovetto of Conway, S.C.; a brother, Charles Miller of Falls Church, Va.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Frank A. Habenicht, three sisters and four brothers preceded her in death.
HABENICHT - A memorial service for Thelma Grace Habenicht, who died Saturday, July 12, 2003, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at FOX FUNERAL HOME in Saxonburg.

Rev. John H. Seippel
The Rev. John H. Seippel, 80, formerly of Saxton in Bedford County, died of natural causes at 1:30 a.m. Thursday at Valley View Nursing Home, Altoona.
Born in Pittsburgh, Oct. 4, 1922, he was the son of John Seippel and Gertrude Seippel Fike.
An alumnus of Anderson University and Theology Seminary, Anderson, Ind., he was an pastor for the Church of God. During his 46-year career, he had been pastor for the Church of God, mostly in Western Pennsylvania, including parishes in Beaver, Marienville, Robertsdale, North Apollo and Portage. He also was active in youth camps, served on the campground board of Whitehall Church of God Campgrounds and the credentials committee of the Church of God in Western Pennsylvania.
He served in Africa and Europe with the Army during World War II.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, the Rev. A. Darlene Kniess Seippel; two daughters, Valerie Beth Jarrell of Saxton and Patricia Faye Scott of Claremore, Okla.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Three brothers and a sister, Richard Seippel of Anderson, Ind., and Robert and William Seippel, both of Tucson, Ariz., and Gertrude Reichard of Honey Brook, Chester County; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
An infant son preceded him in death.

Samuel Lorey Jr.
Samuel Lorey Jr., 47, died June 27, 2003, in a two-vehicle accident near his home in Mountain Grove, Mo.
He was born March 4, 1956, and was raised in Butler. He was a talented carpenter.
He is survived by his wife, Pam Lorey; a son, Samuel Joseph; two daughters, Samantha Lou and Melanie; and a stepson, Van.
Also surviving are his parents, Samuel Sr. and Mary Lou Lorey of Upland, Calif.; three sisters, Cindi Olexa of Riverside, Calif., Bonnie Bonham of La Canada, Calif., and Vicki Lorey of Ontario, Calif.; three nephews, Corey Slagle and Jacob and Luke Bonham; a niece, Kate Bonham; and a step-grandson, Devon.
A memorial Mass was Thursday at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Upland, Calif.
