Kenneth E. Kerr Jr.

Kenneth E. Kerr Jr., 35, of Smithfield, N.C., died Tuesday, at Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh, of injuries received Monday in an accident at Route 8 and Branchton Road in Slippery Rock Township.

His wife, Janet A. Jewell Kerr; two daughters, Alessandra Hall and Kathleen A. Kerr; and a son, Kenneth E. Kerr III, died Monday in the same accident.

Born in Latrobe, Westmoreland County, Oct. 14, 1967, he was the son of Kenneth E. Kerr Sr. and Cathy L. Steele Kerr.

A graduate of Kiski High School, he was a four-year Army veteran and was senior network engineer for MCI Global Date Network. Other work and interests included NASA satellite communications, co-owner of Kerr and Sims Web Designs, computer technology, gun collecting, his family and his dog, Jack.

Mr. Kerr was a Christian and his family was closely bound in love and support for each other.

Surviving are his parents; sisters, Tiffany L. Suorsa, Dione L. Drushel; nephews and nieces; and grandparents, John H. and Thelma V. Steele.

His grandparents, Homer R. and Evelyn M. Kerr, preceded him in death.

Kenneth E. Kerr III

Kenneth E. Kerr III, 4, of Smithfield, N.C., died Monday in an automobile accident at Route 8 and Branchton Road in Slippery Rock Township.

His mother, Janet, his father, Kenneth Kerr Jr. and his two sisters, Alessandra and Kathleen, were killed in the same accident.

Born June 1, 1999, in Smithfield, N.C., he was the son of Kenneth and Janet Jewell Kerr Jr.

He was a preschool student in Smithfield.

He enjoyed building birdhouses and driving the motor boat with his grandfather.

He is survived by his grandparents, Kenneth and Cathy Kerr and Robert and Mattie Jewell; aunts, uncles and cousins; and great-grandparents John and Thelma Steele.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Homer and Evelyn Kerr, Mr. and Mrs. Spurgeon Jewell and Mr. and Mrs. Landis Hensley; and an aunt, Wanda Jewell.

Kathleen A. Kerr

Kathleen A. Kerr, 12, of Smithfield, N.C., died Monday in an automobile accident at Route 8 and Branchton Road in Slippery Rock Township.

Her mother, Janet, her father, Kenneth Kerr Jr., her sister, Alessandra, and her brother, Kenneth Kerr III, all died in the same accident.

Born Aug. 9, 1990, in Frederick, Md., she was a daughter of Kenneth and Janet Jewell Kerr Jr.

She was an eighth grade student at Smithfield Middle School in Smithfield, N.C.

She enjoyed rock collecting, dodge ball and earned a silver medal in the 400 meter countywide track meet in North Carolina.

She is survived by her grandparents, Kenneth and Cathy Kerr and Robert and Mattie Jewell; aunts, uncles and cousins; and great-grandparents John and Thelma Steele.

Also preceding her in death were her grandparents, Homer and Evelyn Kerr, Mr. and Mrs. Spurgeon Jewell, and Mr. and Mrs. Landis Hensley and an aunt, Wanda Jewell.

Janet A. Kerr

Janet A. Kerr, 35, of Smithfield, N.C., died Monday in an automobile accident at Route 8 and Branchton Road in Slippery Rock Township.

Her husband, Kenneth Kerr Jr., her son, Kenneth Kerr III and two daughters, Alessandra and Kathleen, all died in the same accident.

Born Jan. 19, 1968, in Glasgow, Ky., she was a daughter of Robert and Mattie Hensley Jewell.

She graduated from Hart County High School, Munfordville, Ky., and served in the Army.

She was a homemaker.

She formerly worked as a Johnston County Deputy Sheriff in North Carolina and in Army communications.

Mrs. Kerr was interested in quilting, target practice, gardening, running, carpentry, family and her dog, Sammy.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by three sisters, Vicki Dillard, Joyce Lawson and Sandra Jorgenson; a brother, William Jewell; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents and a sister.

Alessandra S. Hall

Alessandra Shauna Hall, 16, of Smithfield, N.C., died Monday in an automobile accident at Route 8 and Branchton Road in Slippery Rock Township.

Her mother, Janet, her father, Kenneth Kerr Jr., her sister, Kathleen, and her brother, Kenneth Kerr III, all died in the same accident.

Born March 26, 1987, in Frederick County, Md., she was a daughter of Kenneth and Janet Jewell Kerr Jr.

She was a 10th grade student at Smithfield-Selma High School in Smithfield, N.C.

She is survived by her grandparents, Kenneth and Cathy Kerr, Robert and Mattie Jewell; aunts, uncles, cousins; and great-grandparents John and Thelma Steele.

Preceding her in death were her grandparents, Homer and Evelyn Kerr, Mrs. and Mrs. Spurgeon Jewell and Mr. and Mrs. Landis Hensley and an aunt, Wanda Jewell.

Mary Lou Baird

Mary Lou Baird, 75, of Cranberry Township died Wednesday at UPMC Medical Center, Pittsburgh.

Born Dec. 2, 1927, on Pittsburgh’s South Side, she was the daughter of Louis and Marie Cziolkowski Feldmeier.

She retired in 1998 as purchasing manager of AID International of Coraopolis and had previously been office manager at Interstate Contracting & Coding Co., Cranberry Township.

Mrs. Baird was a member of St. Ferdinand Roman Catholic Church of Cranberry Township.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Baird Sr., who died March 11, 1998.

Surviving are two sons, William C. Baird of Altoona and Robert E. Baird Jr. of Harvard, Ill.; two sisters, Patricia Kazmieraczak of Carrick and Lucille “Corky” Graham of Crafton; and three grandchildren.

BAIRD - Friends of Mary Lou Baird, who died Wednesday, July 9, 2003, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at GLENN-KILDOO FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 130 Wisconsin Ave., Cranberry Township. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Ferdinand Roman Catholic Church, Cranberry Township. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery , Marshall Township.

Jason R. Bailie

Jason R. Bailie, 24, of Butler died at 11:16 a.m. Thursday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born Oct. 19, 1978, in Butler, he was the son of Joseph T. III and Erma L. Blum Bailie.

A graduate of Westminster College, he belonged to Sigma Nu fraternity and worked in sales and circulation at the Butler Eagle. He was a member of Elks Lodge 170.

He is survived by his parents of Butler; a brother, Joseph T. Bailie IV; a niece; Carly L. Bailie of Butler; and his grandmother, Mary Bailie of Leechburg.

BAILIE - Friends of Jason R. Bailie, who died Thursday, July 10, 2003, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 127 W. Jefferson St. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Rev. Wayne Bell, pastor of West Sunbury United Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be at Deer Creek Cemetery , Harmar Township, Allegheny County.

Ruth M. McKee

Ruth M. McKee, 88, of Harrisville, died at 1 a.m. Friday at United Community Hospital in Grove City.

Born Aug. 29, 1914, in Volant, she was the daughter of Cash and Pearl Rhoades Bingham.

She was a graduate of Plain Grove High School in Plain Grove and she had attended Grove City College.

Mrs. McKee helped her husband at McKee’s Market of Harrisville, beginning in 1950. She later worked for Willie’s Smokehouse of Harrisville, beginning in 1972, where she was still actively involved.

She was a member of Harrisville United Methodist Church and the Ladies’ Sunday school class at the church.

Surviving are a son, John A. McKee of Grove City; two sisters, Erla Eppinger of Plain Grove and Alice Ponder of Grove City; and two grandchildren.

Her husband, William J. McKee, whom she married July 1, 1939, died July 1, 1986.

Two sisters and a brother also preceded her in death.

MCKEE - Friends of Ruth M. McKee, who died Friday, July 11, 2003, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at JAMISON FUNERAL HOME, 117 N. Main St., Harrisville. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jeffrey T. St. Clair, pastor of Harrisville United Methodist Church, and the Rev. Willard S. Moore, former pastor of Harrisville United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Prairie Cemetery in Harrisville.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund, Harrisville United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 424, Harrisville, PA 16038.

Rene E. Matteoni

Rene E. Matteoni, 81, of 107 Dolphin Drive, Butler Township, died Friday morning at Butler Memorial Hospital after an illness.

Born in Butler, March 21, 1922, he was the son of Angelo and Emma Guadagni Matteoni.

He was a welder in the erection shop at Pullman Standard and retired in 1982 when the plant closed.

Mr. Matteoni was a World War II Army veteran, having served in North Africa and Italy. He received the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart and numerous other medals.

He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 249, the Italian Society and the French and Belgium Club.

Surviving are his wife, Gladys Ulrich Matteoni, to whom he was married for 46 years; a son, Donald L. Matteoni of Butler; a daughter, Rena Marie Staryat of Butler; and a sister, Eva Matteoni of Butler. Three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive.

A brother preceded him in death.

MATTEONI - There will be no public visitation. A Mass of Christian burial for Rene E. Matteoni, who died Friday, July 11, 2003, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, Center Avenue. The Rev. James Dolan, will officiate. Burial will be at St. Michael Cemetery . MARTIN FUNERAL HOME is handling arrangements.

Karl Wayne Hinderliter

Karl Wayne Hinderliter, 62, of Lakeworth, Fla., formerly of Cabot, died Thursday at JFK Memorial Hospital in Lakeworth.

Born in Butler on Aug. 5, 1940, he was the son of Karl B. and Irene Bulford Hinderliter.

He served with the Army in Vietnam.

A member of Cabot United Methodist Church, Mr. Hinderliter was a mechanic for Lion Country Safari in Wellington, Fla.

He enjoyed watching NASCAR.

Surviving are his mother of Cabot; his companion, Hope Silver of Lakeworth, Fla.; a brother, Dennis L. Hinderliter of Sarver; and a sister, Mrs. Ronald (Nancy) Kosecki of Cabot.

His father, a brother and a sister preceded him in death.

HINDERLITER - Friends of Karl Wayne Hinderliter, who died Thursday, July 10, 2003, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at FOX FUNERAL HOME in Saxonburg Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Matthew Judd, pastor of Cabot United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Saxonburg Memorial Church Cemetery .

The family suggests memorial donations be made to Cabot United Methodist Church, 707 Winfield Road, Cabot, PA 16023.
