Frederick “Fred” Eichenberger, 88, of Slippery Rock, died at 3:45 p.m. Friday at Grove Manor Nursing Home in Grove City after an extended illness.
Born April 23, 1915, in Ambridge, he had worked as a heavy equipment operator for Cooper Brothers in Slippery Rock for 22 years. He then managed the batch plant at George Campbell Asphalt of Grove City, retiring in 1981 after 16 years.
A Protestant, Mr. Eichenberger belonged to the Thursday night bowling league in Slippery Rock and was past president of the Slippery Rock Sportsman’s Club.
Surviving are his wife of Slippery Rock, Margaret Mae Eichenberger, whom he married May 1, 1940; a sister, Betty Bell of Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Two infant daughters, three sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.

Kenneth A. Cahall Sr.
Kenneth A. Cahall Sr., 67, of Jackson Township died Thursday at UPMC Passavant Hospital, McCandless.
Born July 25, 1935, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of Robert M. and Winefred Hollabaugh Cahall.
Mr. Cahall was a self-employed contractor for years. He was a 33rd degree Mason and a member of the Syria Shrine Center and John E. Mair Lodge 729 of Mars.
Surviving are his wife, Nellie Mae Hutchman Cahall, whom he married March 5, 1955; a daughter, Mrs. John V. (Kendel) Opperman of Beaver Falls; three sons, Ernest “Tab” Cahall of Jackson Township, Kenneth A. Cahall Jr. of Connoquenessing and Richard C. Cahall of Fombell; four brothers, Chester Cahall of Millvale, Charles and Ronald Cahall, both of Callery, and James Cahall of Zelienople; two half-brothers, Raymond and Robert Cahall, both of North Carolina; two sisters, Mrs. Clarke (Nancy) Smith and Eleanor Wilson, both of Callery; and two half-sisters, Dolores McCandless of Mars and Loretta Cahall of Pittsburgh. Seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive.
A sister preceded him in death.
CAHALL - Friends of Kenneth A. Cahall Sr., who died Thursday, July 10, 2003, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at BOYLAN FUENRAL HOME, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. John Hoogerbrugge officiating. Burial will be at Grace Church Cemetery , Harmony.

Ethel R. Campbell
Ethel R. Campbell, 82, of Sun City Center, Fla., died Wednesday in Columbus, Ohio, after a long illness.
Born Dec. 8, 1920, in West Liberty, Brady Township, she was the daughter of Robert E. and Elizabeth Wimer McDeavitt.
She married George H. Campbell Aug. 28, 1942, in West Liberty. He was a World War II veteran and had been a claims training manager for Nationwide Insurance Co. He died Feb. 2, 1982.
Mrs. Campbell was a food service manager for the Worthington City Schools in Ohio and retired in 1980 after 15 years. Following retirement, she moved with her husband to Sun City Center, where she was an active member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church. She was past president and a longtime volunteer with the Sun City Center Needlecrafters that raises funds to support several community charities.
She is survived by a son and his wife, Roger N. and Sharon Campbell of Pleasantville, Ohio; a daughter and her husband, Georgia D. and David Bradford of Marion, Ohio; four grandchildren, Andy Campbell of Austin, Colo., Amy Hathaway and her husband Robert of Carter, Mont., Nate Bradford of Marion and Matt Bradford and his wife Tara of Sarasota, Fla.; and two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Jessica Hathaway, both of Carter.
She also is survived by two brothers Paul McDeavitt of Cincinnati Ohio, and Earl McDeavitt and his wife Helen of Butler; and two sisters, Leah McDeavitt of Slippery Rock and Bertha Stewart of New Wilmington.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Clair McDeavitt; and four sisters, Opal Blakely, Margaret McDeavitt, Gilda Greenway and Mabel Ramming.
CAMPBELL - Graveside services for Ethel R. Campbell, who died Wednesday, July 2, 2003, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at West Liberty Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Rand Edwards officiating. Arrangements are being handled by SMITH FUNERAL HOME, Slippery Rock.

Pam Marie Cotton Parrott
The spirit of Pam Marie Cotten Parrott, 41, of Houston, Texas, passed on July 7, 2003, in Texas following a heart attack.
Born in Butler, July 6, 1962, she was the daughter of Harry and Sandy Cotten of Butler, and her mother, Jeannette Hollinshead of Cleveland, Texas.
She attended the First Baptist Church in Cleveland, Texas.
Surviving are her husband, Michael L. Parrott; a brother, Rick Cotten of Butler; a sister, Jody Allen of Texas; a stepbrother, Ken Christy of Texas; a stepsister, Shelia Smith of Butler; a stepbrother, Rob Ruley of Butler; and her in-laws, Alger and Bonnie Parrott of Spring, Texas. Numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles also survive.
Theresa C. Gamble
Theresa Carolyn Gamble, 69, of Butler died at 5 p.m. Monday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born Oct. 16, 1933, in Butler, she was the daughter of Nicholas and Josephine Cosmano Russo.
A homemaker, she was a member of the Tri-State Country Music Association.
Surviving are her husband, Mark E. Gamble, whom she married May 24, 1952; four daughters, Mrs. Dennis (Deborah) Weleski of Elizabethtown, and Mrs. Ted (Cynthia) Bailey Ziegenfus, Mrs. Randy (Darlene) Werhnyak and Mrs. Richard (Terri) Angiolieri, all of Butler; a sister, Erma Duill of Martins Ferry, Ohio; a brother, Emilio Russo of Butler; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A brother and two sisters preceded her in death.

Eugene O ‘Elmer’ Barber Campbell
Eugene O. “Elmer” Barber Campbell, 83, of Meridian died at 10:05 a.m. EST Sunday, July 6, 2003, at the Hospice of Boulder County Care Center, Louisville, Colo., after a short visit with his son.
Born in Washington Township, July 28, 1919, he was the son of Charlotte Barber Christy and Von Campbell.
He was a member of IBEW Local 5 for 66 years and was employed by Fuellgraf Electric Co. as a superintendent at Armco-Butler Works for 39 years before retiring in 1982. He ran a small engraving business, “Bernies,” after his retirement.
Mr. Campbell was a member of the Meridian United Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon and trustee. He also was a member of the William Miller Masonic Lodge 769 of Butler and the Consistory of New Castle and had been a member of the Syria Shrine of Pittsburgh.
He served our country during World War II and was a member of the Meridian Vets Club and the American Legion Post 0778 of Lyndora.
Elmer enjoyed hunting and fishing, flew racing pigeons, bred and raised all kinds of animals and birds and loved his pet dogs. He also was an avid clock builder and had more clocks in his home than one could imagine.
He made beautiful stained glass pieces of art, loved working with his flowers, took pride in his yard and loved creating anything with his hands. Playing cards and Sequence were other favorite pastimes.
Surviving are his wife, Bernice Faull Campbell, whom he married May 6, 1939, in Butler; a daughter, Carol I. Koerner and her husband Ted of Meridian; three sons, William E. Campbell and his wife Mary Ann, of Green Valley, Ariz., Charles R. Campbell and his wife Sue, of Lafayette, Colo., and Robert R. Campbell and his wife Shirley, of Niles, Ohio. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, Bill, Mark, Cathy, Jeff, Debby, Becky, Matt, Ricky, Brian, Chris, Greg, and Jenny: five step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; two half-sisters; a half-brother; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Bridgett; and a half-brother, William.
A memorial service will be held at Meridian United Presbyterian Church after returning to Butler from Colorado.

William L. Bryan
William L. Bryan, 83, of Muddy Creek Township, formerly of Coraopolis, died Monday.
Born in Altoona on June 10, 1920, he was the son of Lloyd and Ezmerelda Duggan Bryan.
He served in the Navy during World War II and had worked for LTV Steel, Aliquippa Works.
Mr. Bryan was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Coraopolis and VFW Post 402.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and collecting and building model trains.
John Wayne was his idol.
Surviving are his daughter, with whom he made his home, Henrietta “Henri” Takach and her husband Frank of Muddy Creek Township; two granddaughters, Samantha Elder and Marie Takach; and a brother, Lloyd Bryan of Coraopolis.
His wife, Marie Coradi Bryan, died in 1984.

Velma G. Barnes
Velma G. Barnes, 83, of Bradenton, Fla., died Sunday at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton.
Born Nov. 15, 1919, in Summerville, Jefferson County, she was the daughter of Arthur and Bessie Tozier Webster.
A homemaker, she was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Mrs. Barnes had worked part time at the American Cancer Society office in Butler and the Medical Arts Building.
Surviving are a son, Gene F. Barnes of Timblin; a daughter, Mrs. Gary (Belinda S.) Dunkle of Bradenton, Fla.; a brother, Robert Webster of Mars; two sisters, Mrs. Pearl Kelichner and Mrs. Francis Kelichner, both of Butler; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Cecil F. Barnes; a son; a daughter; two brothers, and two sisters preceded her in death.

James G. ‘Mac’ McElhaney Jr.
James G. “Mac” McElhaney Jr., 60, of Butler died Wednesday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born Oct. 7, 1942, in Sewickley, he was the son of the late Rita M. Yahner Deemer.
He was a 1960 graduate of Moniteau High School, and while at Slippery Rock University he played football from 1960 to 1964. He was an All-American wide receiver, still holds numerous receiving records and was drafted by the Montreal Alouettes.
Mr. McElhaney was a teacher in the Moniteau School District for 39 years, where he also was an athletic director and football coach and was instrumental in starting the high school girls’ track team and Project Adventure.
He was the receiver and tight end coach at SRU from 1998 to the present. He also coached quarterbacks, receivers and tight ends at Grove City College from 1982 to 1987.
He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, a member and board member of the Butler Area Sports Hall of Fame, a former member and officer of the Cabana Golf League, former president of the Butler YMCA Aquatics Club, a member of Aubrey’s Thursday Night Couples Golf League and played for numerous basketball and softball teams in the 1960s and ’70s.
Surviving are his wife, Bonnie Gangone McElhaney, whom he married Sept. 14, 1963; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Jackie McElhaney of Butler and Sean and Marci McElhaney of Gambrills, Md.; two granddaughters; and two grandsons. Two sisters, Peg Bowser of East Brady and Mrs. Harry (Pat) Verner of Petrolia; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Preceding him in death were his mother, an aunt and three uncles.

Alvin J. Kaltenbaugh
Alvin John Kaltenbaugh, 93, of Freeport Road died at 2:45 a.m. Wednesday at his home.
Born Sept. 27, 1909, on St. Joe Road in Summit Township, he was the son of Milton and Laura Kramer Kaltenbaugh.
He had been a plumber and a pipe fitter for Local 47 and attended Faith Fellowship Alliance Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mildred Dietrick Kaltenbaugh, whom he married June 23, 1937; a son, David Kaltenbaugh of Butler; two daughters, Melanie Strong of Berkley, Ill., and Gloria Curtis of Butler; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A brother, Russell Kaltenbaugh of Louisiana; and three sisters, Helen Hamm of Ohio, Laura Nicklas of Meridian and Dorothy Michael of Connoquenessing also survive.
Preceding him in death were a son, three sisters and four brothers.
