Elton T. (Skip) Macurdy, 79, of 233 Monroe Road, Buffalo Township died at 10:23 a.m. Sunday at St. Margaret Hospital, UPMC, Pittsburgh.
The son of Walter L. and Maude E. Hesselgesser Macurdy, he was born Sept. 6, 1923, in Tarentum.
Mr. Macurdy was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II. He was a payroll clerk for 24 years at Allegheny Ludlum Steel. Corp. in Brackenridge before retiring in 1985.
He was a member of the Freeport United Methodist Church, F&AM Lodge in Freeport, the New Castle Consistory and the Syria Shrine in Pittsburgh. He also was a charter member of the Buffalo Township Volunteer Fire Company.
Mr. Macurdy enjoyed farming and farmed all of his life.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Doris (Darling) I. Macurdy; two sons, Jack T. Macurdy and Terry L. Macurdy, both of Buffalo Township; five grandchildren; and a brother, Howard Macurdy of Marwood.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Russell and Eugene Macurdy.

Burial will be at Butler County Memorial Park, Butler. A Masonic service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Armstrong Lodge No. 239 of Freeport.
Lawrence E. McCarty
Lawrence E. “Larry” McCarty, 87, of Cranberry Township died Friday at Cranberry Place.
Born Dec. 22, 1915, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of James Etly and Mattie Estelle (Gardner) McCarty.
Mr. McCarty was the owner of the Edward Lawrence Studio from 1945 through 1981.
He is survived by his wife, Emma May McCarty, whom he married Dec. 25, 1938; two daughters, Carole Jeanne McCarty White of New Castle and Susan Anne McCarty Ellis of Cranberry Township; a son, James Gordon McCarty of Cranberry Township.; a sister, Helen Louise Skousen of Orem, Utah; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
MCCARTY - Friends of Lawrence E. “Larry” McCarty, who died Friday, May 16, 2002, will be received today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at GLENN-KILDOO FUNERAL HOME, 130 Wisconsin Ave., Cranberry Township.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home with Bishop Bradley Agle of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Franklin Park, officiating.
Entombment will follow in the Zelienople Community Mausoleum.

Donna Kay Bish
Donna Kay Bish, 64, of Sligo died Saturday at Clarview Nursing Home and Rehabilitation in Sligo, following a five-year illness.
Born Oct. 25, 1938, in Kellersburg, Armstrong County, she was the daughter of the late Reed Willison and Catherine Louise Painter Willison.
She was a 1956 graduate of Red Bank Valley High School and attended St. Charles United Methodist Church in her youth.
She enjoyed baking and embroidery.
Surviving are a daughter, Janice McEwen of Rimersburg; a son, Danny Bish of Sligo; two grandchildren and a step-grandson; three brothers, Ronald Willison and Michael Willison, both of St. Charles, and Jon Willison of Front Royal, Va.; two sisters, Darlene Willison of St. Charles and Sherri Morris of Sligo; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred H. Bish, whom she married Feb. 14, 1958, in St. Charles, and who died March 24, 1991; her parents; and an infant daughter.

Gloria Belfer Shirley
Gloria Belfer Shirley, 54, of Beaverton, Ore., died May 1, 2003, at Tuality Community Hospital, Hillsboro, Ore.
Born May 29, 1948, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of Jean Cutler Belfer and Hymie “Pete” Belfer.
She grew up on Muntz Avenue, was a 1966 graduate of Butler High School and graduated as a registered nurse from the University of South Carolina at Spartanburg. She also had attended St. Margaret Memorial Hospital Nursing School and graduated from the LPN program at Westmoreland County Community College in Youngwood.
Mrs. Shirley was a 14-year resident of Oregon, where she was a medical-surgical nurse at Tuality Community Hospital for the past 14 years.
She loved to design, make and give jewelry to friends, and this hobby became a small business. She enjoyed professional baseball, golfing, hiking and traveling in the western United States.
Surviving are her husband, David Shirley, whom she married in 1968; a son, Wayne Shirley of Forest Grove Ore.; a sister Rebecca Orum of Sarasota, Fla.; and a brother, Eliot Belfer of Ormond Beach, Fla.
A memorial service was held at Fir Lawn Mortuary, Hillsboro. Remembrances may be made to the American Lung Association.
Ronald D. Ridley
Ronald D. Ridley, 51, of Karns City died at 10 p.m. Sunday at Butler Memorial Hospital after a heart seizure.
Born in Butler, Feb. 16, 1952, he was the son of the late Ronald N. and the late Doris Terwilliger Ridley.
He attended the Karns City United Methodist Church.
A sports enthusiast, he was a member of the Karns City Quarterback Club and had coached the Karns City Midget Football Team for the past 30 years. He also coached the U.A.A. Baseball Team in Karns City and was an avid bowler.
Mr. Ridley was a 1970 graduate of Karns City High School. He worked in the shipping department at Penreco in Karns City for 32 years.
He is survived by two sons, Bryan D. Ridley of Butler and Nathan C. Ridley of Karns City; his fiancée, Pamela Sue Frazer of Karns City; a brother, Terry N. “Buck” Ridley of Bruin; and a sister, Mrs. Ray (Luanne) Hinchey of Middletown, Va. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Adriana May Raimondi
Adriana May Raimondi, 10-month-old daughter of Julia A. Schnur and Thomas A. Raimondi IV, died Sunday at Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh after an unexpected illness.
She was born July 5, 2002, in Butler.
She is survived by her mother and father, both of Butler; her maternal grandparents, Daniel D. and Ruth Schnur Sr. of Butler; her paternal grandparents, Thomas A. and Debra Raimondi III of East Butler; her great-grandparents, Donald Thomas and Dean and Loretta Schnur, all of Butler, and Gregory and Marie Reott of East Butler; and her great-great-grandparents, Mrs. Martha Thomas of East Butler and Ruth and Francis “Duke” Schnur of Herman. Also surviving are three aunts and an uncle.
RAIMONDI - Friends of Adriana May Raimondi, who died Sunday, May 11, 2003, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St. The Rev. Harry Bielewicz will officiate. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Herman.
The St. Paul Guild and Christian Mothers will recite the rosary at 9:35 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Mabel E. Mangel
Mabel E. Mangel, 90, of Butler died at 8:35 p.m. Monday at Armstrong County Hospital after an illness.
Born July 9, 1912, in Butler Township, she was the daughter of Harvey Francis and Martha McFadden Mangel.
She is survived by a sister, Genevieve W. Allison of Butler; a nephew, Robert Allison, with whom she made her home; and several other nieces and nephews.
A son, five brothers and a sister preceded her in death.

Slavo Kasenic
Slavo Kasenic, 90, of 6221 Crestmont Drive, formerly of the North Side of Pittsburgh, died at 7:15 p.m. Monday at Cranberry Place, Cranberry Township.
Born on the North Side, Jan. 24, 1913, he was the son of Imbrose and Rose Kasenic.
He was a member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church and a former member of the Most Holy Name Roman Catholic Church of Troy Hill.
Mr. Kasenic had been a shipping manager for Pittsburgh Nipple Works on the North Side and retired in 1978 after 34 years. He was a member of the Traffic and Transportation Association of Pittsburgh and Delta Nu Alpha Fraternity of Professional Traffic Managers.
Surviving are a daughter, Suzanne Ruth Kasenic of Philadelphia; a son, David F. Kasenic of Butler; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
His wife, Ruth Belohlavek, died Dec. 8, 1993. Three sisters and five brothers preceded him in death.

Norman Hawn
Norman Hawn, 89, of Valencia died Monday morning at Valencia Woods Nursing Center after an illness.
Born in Deer Lodge, Tenn., May 4, 1914, he was the son of John and Myrtle Purvis Hawn.
He retired as general foreman in electrical maintenance at Allegheny-Ludlum Steel, Brackenridge.
Mr. Hawn was a member of the Glade Run United Presbyterian Church. He also belonged to the John E. Mair Lodge 729 F&AM, Mars; Valley of Pittsburgh Consistory; Syria Temple; River Forest Country Club, Freeport; and the United Commercial Travelers of America.
His wife, Margaret Mowery Hawn, died Aug. 4, 1985.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Earl (Barbara) Calderwood of Butler and Mrs. Joseph (Elaine) Schmidt of Valencia; and two sons, James R. Hawn of Valencia and Norman W. Hawn of Phoenix, Ariz. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two nieces, a nephew and several cousins with whom he was raised.

Nellie Belle Wyman
Nellie Belle Wyman, 92, of Rimersburg died at 12:50 a.m. Tuesday at her home after a long illness.
Born in Butler, Sept. 29, 1910, she was the daughter of Clyde and Linnie Mae Smith Somerville.
Mrs. Wyman was a member of the Church of God of Sligo. She enjoyed reading.
She attended Baker School through the eighth grade and had worked at Chandler Dining Hall at Clarion University for 11 years.
Surviving are seven sons and their wives, Clayton Eugene and Linda Wyman of Broomfield, Colo., John Paul “Jack” and Betty Wyman of St. Petersburg, Clarion County, Donald Devere and Jane Wyman of Ligonier, Ira Odell and Mary Lou Wyman of East Brady, Roger Lavoy and Barbara Wyman of Moreno Valley, Calif., Orvis Arnold and Evelyn Wyman of Chicora and Gary Lee and Linda Wyman of Docena, Ala.; two daughters. Shirley Mae Flick and husband, Fred, of Sigel, Jefferson County, and Pauline Carol “Paulie” Wyman of Rimersburg; and more than 100 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She also is survived by two brothers, Arnold Somerville of Huntsville, Ala., and Chad Somerville and wife, Peggy, of Ligonier; a half-brother, James Sommerville of Aliquippa; five sisters, Hazel Murray, Ruth Rowe and Eleanor Burns, all of Sligo, Naomi Fair of Knox and Georgia Myers of Rimersburg; and two half-sisters, Judy Liberati of Aliquippa and Priscilla Sommerville of Monaca.
Her husband, Samuel Paul Wyman, whom she married in Clarion Dec. 24, 1929, died Aug. 9, 1951. A sister, Ida Mae Bobbert, also preceded her in death.
