Elizabeth J. Thompson

Elizabeth J. Thompson, 88, of Falls Church, Va., formerly of Cherry Township, died Friday.

Born Aug. 15, 1914, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of Alexander and Marian Rhodetta Clyde.

She was a former member of Pleasant Valley Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Carol Sue Thompson of Fairfax, Va.; a daughter and son-in-law, Eileen Louise and Thomas Meals of Etters; a son and daughter-in-law, John Kenneth and Nancy Thompson of Charlottesville, Va.; and a grandson, Malcolm Ross Thompson of Charlottesville, Va.

Her husband, Plummer R. Thompson, died Feb. 24, 1984.

A son and a sister also preceded her in death.

THOMPSON - Friends of Elizabeth J. Thompson, who died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at WILLIAM F. YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 132 Main St., West Sunbury. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert V. Mathias, pastor of Concord Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be at West Sunbury Union Cemetery .

Helena C. Rock

Peacefully on Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, Helen C., age 69, of Cranberry Township, formerly of Folcroft, Pa., went to be with her Lord Jesus and her many friends.

Born April 11, 1933, in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Helen (Croghan) Hummel.

Mrs. Rock was a faithful member of St. Ferdinand’s Catholic Church, Cranberry Township, where she attended Mass daily.

She was a former member of St. Gabriel’s Parish, Norwood, Pa.

Helena was a Eucharistic minister at St. Ferdinand’s and on Sundays at St. Francis Nursing Center North, a Sacristan at St. Ferdinand, an R.C.I.A. team member, lector at Mass and was active on the Worship Committee.

Mrs. Rock was also a member of the Chicken Foot, the Ladies for Las Vegas and the Cranberry Senior’s Clubs.

She is survived by three sons, William H. Rock Jr. and his wife Phyllis, and Thomas P. Rock, both of New Brighton, Michael R. Rock and his wife Mikki of Cranberry Township; also four grandchildren; sister of Thomas Hummel and his wife, Marge, of Prospect Park, Pa.

Mrs. Rock was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Rock Sr., whom she married April 21, 1954, and who died Feb. 15, 1990.

ROCK - Friends of Helena C. Rock, who died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at GLENN-KILDOO FUNERAL HOME, 130 Wisconsin Ave., Cranberry Township. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at noon Monday at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church, Rochester Road, Cranberry Township, with the Rev. Joseph Newell, celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Gregory Cemetery , Zelienople.

If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the A.L.S. of Western Pa., One Station Square, Suite 550, Pittsburgh, PA, 15219.

Jacqueline E. ‘Jackie’ Pascazi

Jacqueline E. “Jackie” Pascazi, 66, of 110 Oakland Drive, died Saturday at her home.

Born Nov. 14, 1936, in Butler, she was the daughter of Martin and Stella Waltman Green.

She married Benjamin P. Pascazi on Sept. 13, 1958.

A member of St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church in Carbon Center, she was a homemaker and mother.

Mrs. Pascazi enjoyed fishing and playing bingo.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Gino P. Pascazi of Butler; two daughters, Mrs. John (Kimberly Ann) Nuedorfer of Carbon Center and Mrs. Rodney (Tina Marie) O’Donnell of Butler; two brothers, Floyd Green of Meridian and Dale Green of Newport News, Va.; a sister, Mrs. Jack (Jane) Kriess of Butler; five grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Three brothers preceded her in death.

PASCAZI - Friends of Jacqueline E. “Jackie” Pascazi, who died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, which is completing service arrangements.

Mary Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Corbett

Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Corbett, 87, of East Brady, died Thursday at Clarview Rest Home in Sligo.

Born April 4, 1915, in New Bethlehem, she was the daughter of Walter R. and Alice L. Over Nale.

She married James C. Corbett on June 20, 1940.

A homemaker, she was a member of United Methodist Church in East Brady.

Mrs. Corbett was a former member of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union and a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 311 in East Brady.

Surviving are her husband of Brookville; two sons, James R. Corbett of East Brady and William B. Corbett of Butler; and two grandchildren.

Two brothers preceded her in death.

CORBETT - Friends of Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Corbett, who died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at CHARLES B. BUECHELE FUNERAL HOME, 105 E. Fourth St., East Brady. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at United Methodist Church in East Brady with the Rev. Richard C. Russell, church pastor, officiating. Private burial will be at Clarion Cemetery in Clarion.

The family suggests memorial donations be made to United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 495, East Brady, PA 16028.

E. Viola Callander

E. Viola Callander, 78, West Freedom, died unexpectedly Friday at her home.

Born Dec. 6, 1923, in Cherry Run, Clarion County, she was the daughter of J. Glenn and Mary E. Hawk Thompson.

A 1941 graduate of Union High School in Rimersburg, she married Donel C. Callander on March 15, 1941.

She attended United Methodist Church in West Freedom and was a member of the Pheobe Rebekah Lodge 123 in Clarion.

Surviving are her husband of West Freedom; a son, Leslie Callander of West Freedom; a daughter, Mrs. Larry “Pep” (Elaine) Simpson of West Freedom; a brother, Fred Thompson of Clintonville; and two sisters, Mrs. Ronel (Ellen) Callander of Dutch Hill, Clarion County and Mrs. Williard (Alvera) Leckliter of Silver Creek, N.Y.

Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Mrs. James (Laurie) Stants, Elliot Callander and John Callander, all of West Freedom, Wesley and Vincent Callander, both of Parker, Scott Freeberg of Houtzdale, Mrs. Mark (Mary Beth) Conner of St. Petersburg and Mrs. Wayne (Wendy) Griffin of Clarion; and eight great-grandchildren.

An infant daughter, a brother and a sister preceded her in death.

CALLANDER - Friends of E. Viola Callander, who died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday at H. JACK BUZARD FUNERAL HOME, Wayne Street, Parker. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Church in West Freedom with the Rev. Bessie Maihle, retired pastor of United Methodist Church, and the Rev. Barry Wyant, church pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Rimersburg Cemetery .

Clara Belle Cooper Bonzo

Clara Belle Cooper Bonzo, 91, of St. John’s Lutheran Home in Mars, formerly of New Sewickley Township, died Thursday.

She was born in Evans City on Aug. 19, 1911.

Mrs. Bonzo had worked as a transplanter for Emerick’s Greenhouse.

She was a member of the Harmony/Zelienople United Methodist Church.

Surviving are three sons, Robert Bonzo of New Brighton and Ronald and Terry Bonzo, both of Rochester; a daughter, Faye Ridenour of New Brighton; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.

Her husband, Audrey Bonzo, died in 1998.

Three sisters and a grandson also preceded her in death.

BONZO - Friends of Clara Belle Cooper Bonzo, who died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at GABAUER FUNERAL HOME at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park in Rochester. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. John Burry’s Church Cemetery .

Laura Bicker, formerly of Buffalo Township, died Friday evening at St. Claire Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Fox Funeral Home in Saxonburg is completing arrangements.

John Zatalava

John Zatalava, 63, of Port Orange, Fla., formerly of Butler, died of cancer Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002, at his home.

He was born in Johnstown.

While in Butler, he was the director of Tri-County Manpower for Butler, Indiana and Armstrong counties.

Surviving are his wife, Marcia Zatalava; and three children, Mikel Zatalava of Ormond Beach, Fla., Lisa Zatalava of Port Orange, Fla., and Anna Waller of Georgia; and five grandchildren.

Arrangements are private.

Fred ‘Bing’ Miller

Fred “Bing” Miller, 69, of Tarentum, Westmoreland County, died Saturday at Tandem Healthcare in Cheswick.

Born Nov. 18, 1933, in Springdale, Westmoreland County, he was a son of John and Stella Crawford Miller.

He was retired from US Steel’s sintering plant in Saxonburg, where he worked as a machine operator.

Mr. Miller was a member of the Pentecostal Church of Oakmont.

He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Schuller Miller, whom he married April 21, 1954.

Also surviving is a son, Frederick Miller of Tarentum; four daughters, Mrs. Cathy Stepp of Tarentum, Mrs. John (Debbie) Lescovich of Cheswick, Mrs. Paul (Tammy) Belfiore of Baden and Mrs. Robert (Cindy) Dobrowolski of Natrona Heights; two brothers, John Miller of Tarentum and George Miller of Chicora; two sisters, Mrs. Violet Caldwell and Mrs. Betty Kovik, both of Cabot; 20 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson.

MILLER - Friends of Fred “Bing” Miller, who died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at FOX FUNERAL HOME, Saxonburg. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Drylie, pastor of the Pentecostal Church of Oakmont, officiating. Burial will be in the Saxonburg Memorial Church Cemetery .

Vincent J. Monteleone

Vincent J. Monteleone, 76, of 151 Edgewood Ave., Grove City, died at 5:20 a.m. Sunday at UPMC Franklin Campus after a brief illness.

Born in Grove City, Jan. 10, 1926, he was the son of Dominick and Lena Macri Monteleone.

He was a 1944 graduate of Grove City High School and a World War II Navy veteran. During the Korean War, he served in the Army.

He retired from Spatola Wines in Downington as a sales representative after 25 years. He previously worked at National Distillers as a sales representative for 10 years.

Mr. Monteleone was a member of the Church of the Beloved Disciple of Grove City, the Grove City Knights of Columbus and the Eagles Lodge of Franklin.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Ledwith Monteleone, whom he married April 23, 1952; two daughters, Linda Swift of Edinboro and Nancy Monteleone of Farrell; two brothers, Joseph D. Monteleone of Grove City and Carmelo A. Monteleone of Daytona Beach, Fla.; and two grandchildren.

A son and a brother preceded him in death.

MONTELEONE - Friends of Vincent J. Monteleone, who died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of the Beloved Disciple, Grove City. Monsignor Edward Zeitler will officiate. Burial will be at Crestview Memorial Park, Grove City.

Memorial donations may be made to the Church of the Beloved Disciple, 321 N. Broad St., Grove City, PA 16127.
