Stephen Staruch age 75 of Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away on Wednesday, February 9, 2005 at 2:08 p.m. in the Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born In Colver, Pennsylvania on January 8, 1930 he was the son of the late Nicholas Staruch and Mary Vozar Staruch.
Mr. Staruch was a graduate of Ebensburg/Cambria High School and then received a B.S. in Special Education and Speech from California University of Pennsylvania and a Master in Education from The University of Pittsburgh. He was a Veteran of The United States Army. Mr. Staruch retired in June 1993 from the Slippery Rock Area School District where he served as a Speech Therapist. He was a member of St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church, the Allegheny Power Golf League, the St Paul's Roman Catholic Church Choir, and the Pennsylvania Speech-Hearing Association. He enjoyed playing golf, solving crossword puzzles, reading, walking, traveling, and visiting his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Helen Staruch whom he marriage on July 12, 1958.
Two sons, Steven Staruch and his wife Naomi of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Peter Staruch and his wife Kristen of Lake Orion, Michigan, two daughters, Dr. Mary Helen Staruch and her husband Bruce Speck and Elizabeth Staruch both of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, four grandchildren Samuel, Lauren, and Claudia Staruch of Lake Orion, Michigan, Emily Speck of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, one brother, Joseph Staruch of Ebensburg, Pennsylvania, two sisters, Mary Staruch of Catonsville, Maryland and Margaret Feriola of Long Island, New York, and by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
Friends and family of Stephen Staruch will be received at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania 16001 on Friday, February 11, 2005 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday, February 12, 2005 from St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Butler, Pennsylvania.
Members of St. Paul's Guild and Christian Mothers will meet at 10:50 a.m. Saturday at the church to recite the rosary. The Family suggests donations to the American heart association or to the American Diabetes Association.
Arthur A. Arnovitz
May 15, 1923 - February 8, 2005
Arthur A. Arnovitz, age 81 of New Haven Court, Butler, Pennsylvania, formerly of Fourth Avenue, Butler, died Tuesday, February 8, 2005 at 9:05 p.m. at his residence.
Born May 15, 1923 in Butler, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Max Arnovitz and the late Bessie Dubofsky.
Mr. Arnovitz was a welder for US Steel in Ambridge, Pennsylvania. He was a member of Congregation B'Nai Abraham. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II.
Mr. Arnovitz is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Alyce Kaplan of Delray Beach, Florida, Mrs. Marlyn Gardner of Elmhurst, Illinois; two brothers, Samuel Arnovitz of Delray Beach, Florida, Presley Arnovitz of Nashville, Tennessee; by seventeen nieces and nephews, and by several great nieces and nephews.
Mr. Arnovitz was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Friday, February 11, 2005 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday, February 11, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. with Cantor Adriane Caplowe officiating. Interment will follow in B'Nai Abraham Cemetery.

Larry Joseph McAnallen
February 21, 1920 - February 7, 2005
Larry Joseph McAnallen, age 58, of Charlotte, North Carolina, formerly of Butler, Pennsylvania passed away on Monday, February 7, 2005 in North Carolina.
Born in Butler, Pennsylvania on February 21, 1946 he was the son of the late Lawrence Edgar McAnallen and Elizabeth Jane O'Brien McAnallen.
Mr. McAnallen resided in Butler until 1983. He was a former member of St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church, a graduate of Butler Catholic School and a 1965 graduate of Butler High School. He had a B.A. degree from the University of Phoenix. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and served in the National Guard from 1966-1977. He currently was the director of Food And Nutrition Services at Morrison Healthcare in Charlotte, North Carolina. He was formerly employed at Armco and Butler Memorial Hospital. He was a member of the National Ski Patrol for twenty years.
Mr. McAnallen is survived by his wife, Diana Lynn Tuck McAnallen, who was originally from Unionville, Pennsylvania, by one son, Lawrence Brian McAnallen of Phoenix, Arizona, one daughter, Amber Jade McAnallen of Charlotte, North Carolina, two sisters, Mrs. Dan (Nancy) Hugh of Knoxville, Tennessee and Mrs. Mike (Betsy) O'Shurak of Butler, Pennsylvania, one brother, Jeffery McAnallen and his wife Lynn of Denver, Colorado, nine nieces and nephews, uncles and aunts and numerous cousins.

Richard A. Gilbertson
January 15, 1948 - February 5, 2005
Richard A. Gilbertson, age 57 of Butler, Pennsylvania, died Saturday, February 5, 2005 at 6:40 a.m. in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Born January 15, 1948 in Crookston, Minnesota he was the son of Ora Lucken Gilbertson and the late Harold Gilbertson.
He grew up and graduated from high school in Fertile, Minnesota, graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1977. He worked in community journalism from 1977 to 1981. Since that time he has been employed by the Boy Scouts of America working at Twin Valley Council, Mankato, Minnesota, Indianhead Council, St. Paul Minnesota, Gamehaven Council, Rochester, Minnesota and was currently executive director for Moraine Trails Council, Butler, Pennsylvania.
Mr. Gilbertson was an active member of the Butler Rotary Club and Rotary International servicing as president and other board positions as well as a two-time recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow Award. He was a life member of the VFW after serving in the Navy during the Vietnam Conflict.
Richard was an Eagle Scout and a Vigil Member of the Order of the Arrow. He was the father of two Eagle Scouts; a loving son, husband, father and grandfather; a dedicated blood donor; an avid fisherman; true friend and mentor of many young people.
Mr. Gilbertson is survived by his wife of 37 years, Eleanore "Ellie" (Broden) Gilbertson, four children, Lydia Daugherty and her husband John of Roseville, Minnesota, Charles (Chuck) and his wife April Gilbertson of Rochester, Minnesota, Jared Gilbertson of Rochester, Minnesota; Jessica Stewart and her husband Greg of Eagan, Minnesota; five grandchildren; Henrik, Ethan and Sofie Gilbertson of Rochester Minnesota, Happy and Ella Daugherty of Roseville, Minnesota; mother, Ora Gilbertson of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota; three brothers, Keith and Jeannie Gilbertson of Rochert, Minnesota, Bruce and Brenda Gilbertson of Starbuck, Minnesota, Mark and Carolyn Gilbertson of Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin; one sister, Kristie and Ken Friese of New York Mills, Minnesota and by many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Gilbertson was preceded in death by his father.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Monday, February 7, 2005 from 7 to 9 p.m. and at the church from 10 to 11 a.m.
Services will be held at the Trinity Lutheran Church on Tuesday, February 8, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Thomas Pierotti officiating. Interment will follow in Rodnes Cemetery in Erskine, Minnesota.
Charles C. Brown
March 22, 1925 - February 1, 2005
Charles C. Brown, age 79 of North Duffy Road, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Tuesday, February 1, 2005 at 9:32 a.m. in Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born March 22, 1925 in Queens Junction, Butler County he was the son of the late Charles A. Brown and the late Sylvia E. Conn.
Mr. Brown was retired as a heavy equipment operator for Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. He was a member of Muddycreek Presbyterian Church, a former elder and trustee, he served as clerk-of-session of his church for 38 years. Mr. Brown was a veteran of the U. S. Army Air Corps, 57th bomb wing squadron as a first lieutenant, serving in North Africa and Italy. He was a member of MORA club, the Men's group of his church and the Veterans of Foreign War. He was an avid sportsperson.
Mr. Brown is survived by his wife Anna M. Brown whom he marriage on November 21, 1947, by one daughter, Mrs. Gene (Linda) Stacy of Columbus, Ohio; one son and his wife, Dennis and Linda Brown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; five grandchildren, Mrs. Kevin (Jennifer) Hiser, Kevin Hinkle, Benjamin Hinkle of Columbus, Ohio, Matthew Brown, and Stephen Brown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and by a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Brown was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday, February 4, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Matthew Kail officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Burial Estates.
Contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund of Muddycreek Presbyterian Church, Butler, Pennsylvania.
Graveside military honors will be conducted by VFW Post #249, Butler.
Howard L. "Greenie" Green
October 22, 1924 - March 31, 2005
Howard L. "Greenie" Green, age 80, of Carnegie Street, Butler, Pennsylvania died Thursday March 31, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. in the Lowrie House.
Born in East Butler, Pennsylvania October 22, 1924, he was the son of the late Carl and Elise Younkins Green.
Mr. Green retired January 31, 1986, as a steelworker at Armco-Butler Works. During World War II, he served with the Army in Northern France, the Rhineland and Central Europe. He was a volunteer at the Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center and a member of the Joseph T. Black VFW Post 249.
Mr. Green was Protestant by faith. He also belonged to the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 64 and he enjoyed gardening and bowling.
Surviving are a son, William C. Green of Youngstown, Ohio; three stepsons, Christopher and Larry Robinson, both of Prospect, Pennsylvania and Duane Robinson of Renfrew, Pennsylvania a stepdaughter, Patricia Raskowsky of New Castle, Pennsylvania, twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Riding of Akron, Ohio, and Mrs. Virginia Gould of Los Angeles, California and a number of nieces and nephews also survive him.
His first wife, Mary Isabelle Wolfrom Green, died November 12, 1979; and his second wife, Frances Robinson Green, died in April 2002. Seven brothers also preceded him in death.

Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. Monday, April 4, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Michael L. Harvey of Westminster Presbyterian Church in America officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Burial Estates.
