Delbert D. “Mike” Sweeney, 73, of Buffalo Township died at 12:43 a.m. Saturday at his home.
Born Jan. 16, 1929, in Freeport, Armstrong County, he was a son of Andrew and Margaret Kennedy Sweeney.
He was a distribution superintendent for T.W. Phillips Gas and Oil Co. in Butler for 43 years, retiring in 1991.
He was a member of the Freeport United Presbyterian Church in Freeport.
He served in the Seabees in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He’s a member of the Free and Accepted Masons Lodge, Tarentum; the Pittsburgh Consistory; Syria Temple in Pittsburgh, and the American Legion in Saxonburg.
He enjoyed woodworking, golfing, yard work and traveling.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Maxine Bures Sweeney, whom he married in 1948.
Also surviving is a son, Michael Sweeney of Allison Park; two daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Sally) Greiser of Freeport and Mrs. Gary (Susan) Cipa of Reading; two brothers, Richard Sweeney of Saxonburg and Robert Sweeney of Buffalo Township; three sisters, Frances Hesselgesser of Cabot, Betty Thomas of Latrobe and Mrs. William (Emma Jane) Redlinger of Washington, Pa.; three grandsons, one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.
SWEENEY - Friends of Delbert D. “Mike” Sweeney, who died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and Tuesday at the REDMOND FUNERAL HOME, 524 High St., Freeport. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. John Foester, pastor emeritus of Freeport United Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Memorial Park in Lower Burrell.

A Masonic Memorial Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Timothy Ray Sonntag, 50, of Leesburg, Mercer County, died at 9:20 a.m. Saturday in Russell, Kan.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 1778 Perry Highway, Leesburg. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Leesburg Presbyterian Church.
Michael Jay Somple
Michael Jay Somple, 32, of Eau Claire Road in Boyers, formerly of Somple Road in Chicora, died at 2:30 a.m. Sunday from injuries received in a one-car accident on I-80 near Emlenton.
Born in Butler, Nov. 26, 1969, he was the son of John A. and Sandra Scott Somple.
During his childhood, he belonged to St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in North Oakland.
Mr. Somple, a 1988 graduate of Butler High School, was a self-employed mechanic and worked on autos and farm equipment. He enjoyed hunting and trapping.
Surviving are his parents of Chicora; a brother, John J. Somple of Chicora; a sister, Teresa L. Celestin of Butler; his maternal grandfather, Joseph S. Scott of Butler; two nieces; a nephew; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Michael J. Fiorentino
Michael Joseph Fiorentino, 56, of Mars died Saturday at home following a long battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born March 6, 1946, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of Jane Caliguri Fiorentino of Butler and the late Albert Fiorentino.
He held a master’s of business administration degree from LaSalle University.
He was the vice-president of human resources for Genesis World Wide II Inc. at Herr-Voss, Stamco and GFG.
He worked and lived in many cities, including Washington, D.C.; Philadelphia; and Toledo, Mount Vernon and Columbus, all in Ohio, prior to moving to Mars.
Mr. Fiorentino was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Byzantine Catholic Church in Gibsonia.
He belonged to the Mars Rod and Gun Club and the Society of Human Resource Managers.
Mr. Fiorentino served in the National Guard during the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his wife, Terry O’Connor Fiorentino, whom he married Dec. 26, 1993.
Also surviving are his mother of Butler; a daughter, Renee Fiorentino of New York; and two sons, Michael Fiorentino of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Mark Fiorentino of Lansdale, Pa.
FIORENTINO - Friends of Michael Joseph Fiorentino, who died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2002, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at MCDONALD-AEBERLI FUNERAL HOME, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Andrew the Apostle Byzantine Catholic Church, 235 Logan Road, Gibsonia. Fr. Andrew Deskevich, his pastor, will officiate. Everyone is asked to meet at the church.
Connie Yip
Connie Yip, 33, of Cranberry Township, formerly of Moon Township, died Monday morning at LAS/St. John Specialty Care Center, Mars.
Born in Milwaukee, Wis., March 25, 1969, she was the daughter of Joo-Yeun and Kyung-Ja Chung Shinn.
She had been a technical writer for Marconi in Marshall Township, Allegheny County.
Surviving are her husband, Theodore Yip, whom she married June 21, 1997; a son, Jason Yip; her parents of South Korea; a sister and a brother, Sangwon and Sangjun Shinn, both of South Korea.

Patricia Ann Stewart
Patricia Ann “Patty” Stewart, 49, of Perryville, Clarion County, died of natural causes at 1:15 p.m. Sunday at her home.
Born Nov. 1, 1953, in Butler, she was the daughter of Freda Maihle Stewart and the late Carlton N. Stewart.
Miss Stewart graduated from Allegheny-Clarion Valley High School in 1971 and was a member of the National Honor Society. In 1975, she received a bachelor’s degree in English from Edinboro State College, now Edinboro University.
She worked at the Clarion County Career Center for more than 25 years and her latest position was total copy coordinator.
She assisted the former Ladies Auxiliary of the Perryville American Legion with dinners for years. She was an avid reader.
Surviving are her mother of Perryville; and a brother, Roger Carlton Stewart of Dillsburg, York County. A brother preceded her in death.
STEWART - Friends of Patricia Ann “Patty” Stewart, who died Sunday, Nov. 10, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at H. JACK BUZARD FUNERAL HOME, Wayne Street, Parker. Visitation also will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Perryville United Methodist Church, where services will follow at 2 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Barry Weyant officiating. Burial will be at Perryville Cemetery .

Anthony M. Kustugic
Anthony M. Kustugic, 87, of Jackson Township died Monday, Nov. 11, 2002, at Evergreen Nursing Center, Jackson Township.
Born July 23, 1915, in Harmony, he was the son of Walter and Anna Halutz Kustugic.
Mr. Kustugic was retired as an enameler at National Plumbing.
He was a World War II Army veteran.
Surviving are two daughters, Shirley Large of Clearwater, Fla., and Gloria Chiafullo of Wampum; and a brother, Max Kustugic of Greenville.
Funeral services and burial will be private.
Arrangements are by BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME, Zelienople.
Alberta M. Avey
Alberta M. Avey, 86, of Butler died at 1:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, 2002, at her home.
Born in Valencia, March 4, 1916, she was the daughter of Russell and Lucille Hickey Cox Bauman.
She had retired from the packing-shipping department at Du-Co Ceramics in Saxonburg and was a member of the Summit Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Joseph (Eleanor) Huff of Butler; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Atlee Avey, who died March 2,1991; and a brother.
Funeral services were private. Burial was at Greenlawn Burial Estates, Mount Chestnut. The Rev. Paul Roberts officiated.

Miriam K. Weatherford
Miriam K. Weatherford, 76, of New Port Richey, Fla., formerly of Valencia, died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002, at Community Hospital of New Port Richey.
Born April 17, 1926, in Lamar, S.C., she was the daughter of Marion and Sue Mae Freeman Knotts.
Mrs. Weatherford was a retired Realtor and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints of New Port Richey.
Surviving are her husband, James M. Weatherford; two sons, Terry M. Weatherford of State College and Mark A. Weatherford of Valencia; a daughter, Susan T. Flythe of New Port Richey; a brother, Sidney Knotts of Lamar; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Services and entombment were in New Port Richey under the direction of Trinity Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.

Jeanne T. Mook
Jeanne T. Mook, 83, formerly of Monroe Street, died at 11:50 p.m. Sunday at Outlook Pointe, Saxonburg.
Born in Corry, Erie County, March 5, 1919, she was the daughter of Douglas B. and Anne Cottrell Titus.
She had worked in the chartroom at T.W. Phillips Gas and Oil for 20 years.
Mrs. Mook was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, the church auxiliary and the Reading Club of Butler.
Surviving are two sons, Andrew William Mook II of Meadville and James Douglas Mook of Butler; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Dr. Andrew W. Mook, died April 3, 1975. A sister also preceded her in death.
MOOK - Friends of Jeanne T. Mook, who died Sunday, Nov. 3, 2002, will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E.
