Charles E. Ziegler, 81, of Evans City, formerly of Zelienople, died Saturday at St. John Specialty Care Center, Mars.
Born July 11, 1920, in Harmony, he was the son of Michael and Frances Becker Ziegler.
He was a former mayor of Zelienople, serving from January 1958 to June 1964 when the post was called a burgess. He also had owned and operated Ziegler’s Exxon in Zelienople.
Mr. Ziegler was a member of the Grace Church of Harmony and Zelienople American Legion. He was a former member of the Zelienople Volunteer Fire Department.
He served in the Navy during World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Irma Young Ziegler, whom he married June 16, 1941; two daughters, Judy Ziegler Brizendine of Zelienople and Melanee Ziegler Buzard of Evans City; and a sister, Mrs. William (Grace) Henderson of Cranberry Township. Three granddaughters and a great-grandson also survive.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
ZIEGLER - Friends of Charles E. Ziegler, who died Saturday, June 1, 2002, will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. today at GLENN-KILDOO FUNERAL HOME, 219 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople. Funeral services, with the Rev. Jerry Davis officiating, will be private.

Robert W. Yedlowski Sr.
Robert William Yedlowski Sr., 51, of East Deer Township died May 13, 2002, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh.
Born April 20, 1951, in Harrison Township, he was the son of Joseph R. Yedlowski and the late Lena Borrelli Yedlowski.
He lived in Cranberry Township for 16 years before returning to Creighton.
A 1969 graduate of East Deer High School, he received an associate degree in electronics from Gateway Technical School, Pittsburgh.
Mr. Yedlowski was an electronics technician at Aerotech, RIDC Park, O’Hara Township. He also was a licensed Realtor and broker for Century 21 of Lower Burrell and Crawford Realty of Harrison Township.
He was a member of the Toastmasters in Cranberry Township.
He also was a singer and guitarist and played on the East Coast in the 1970s-1980s with his late brother, Ron.
Surviving are a son and daughter, Robert W. Jr. and Renae M. Yedlowski, both of Cranberry Township; his father of East Deer; and two brothers, David C. Yedlowski of Plum and Joseph J. Yedlowski of East Deer Township.
In addition to his brother, he was preceded in death by his mother.
A Christian funeral Mass was celebrated May 16 at Mount St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, New Kensington.
Kenneth William Scholter
Kenneth William Scholter, 91, of Saxonburg, formerly of Butler, died at 7 a.m. Friday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born Aug. 6, 1910, in Duquesne, he was the son of John and Mayme Hartman Scholter.
A pilot, he was a member of the Quiet Birdman, the Aero Club of Pittsburgh and the OX5 Aviation Pioneers 402.
Surviving are his wife, Marion A. Scholter; and two sons, James Richard Scholter of Gulf Breeze, Fla., and John William Scholter of Marietta, Ga.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
SCHOLTER - There will be no visitation for Kenneth William Scholter, who died Friday, May 31, 2002. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Brownsdale Cemetery with the Rev. Paul E. Roberts, pastor of Summit United Presbyterian Church, officiating. YOUNG FUNERAL HOME in Butler handled arrangements.
Velma B. Mink
Velma B. McKinnis Mink, 87, of Chapel Point of Carlisle, formerly of Meridian, died Friday evening at Chapel Point of Carlisle in Carlisle.
Born in Butler on Feb. 19, 1915, she was the daughter of Walter H. and Catherine Elizabeth Datt McKinnis.
She had been a missionary nurse for years, serving the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. She served as a missionary nurse in the Philippines from 1948 to 1963.
She was a graduate of Butler High School, Nyack College in Nyack, N.Y., and Butler Memorial Hospital School of Nursing.
Mrs. Mink was a member of the Community Alliance Church.
Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Harold R. (Harriet) Caldwell of Aliquippa; a brother, William Charles McKinnis of Butler; an aunt, Harriet Datt McKinnis; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Her husband, the Rev. Edward Mink, whom she married after ending her missionary service, died March 6, 1981.
Two brothers and a sister also preceded her in death.

Robert L. Deal Sr.
Robert L. Deal Sr., 70, of 218 Geibel Road died Friday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born Dec. 10, 1931, in Butler, he was the son of George S. and Violet Thompson Deal.
He had attended Butler High School, where he was a member of the football team.
Mr. Deal had worked as a crane operator for Marmon Keystone in East Butler for years, retiring in 1982.
He had served with the Coast Guard and was a member of St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church in Carbon Center.
Mr. Deal was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a life member of the East Butler Volunteer Fireman’s Club. He was a former coach for the East Butler baseball and football leagues and enjoyed mall walking.
He is survived by four sons, Robert L. Deal Jr. of Butler, Ronald E. “Gus” Deal of East Butler and Henry T. and William C. Deal, both of Butler; and five daughters, Luann Crawford, Mrs. Raymond (Barbara) Houston, Mrs. Philip (Caroline) Nordquist, Valerie Deal and Mrs. Robert (Ruthi) Orloski, all of Butler.
Also surviving are three brothers, George and Jerry Deal, both of Butler, and Richard Deal of Warren, Ohio; four sisters, Mrs. Raymond (Betty) Campbell of Karns City, Peggy Reed and Mrs. Albert (Shirley) Shook, both of Butler, and Mrs. John (Patty) Hoover of West Sunbury; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
His wife, Margaret J. Williams Deal, whom he married Aug. 23, 1952, died Nov. 7, 1998.
A son, a grandson and two brothers also preceded him in death.
DEAL - Friends of Robert L. Deal Sr., who died Friday, May 31, 2002, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church in Carbon Center with the Rev. Mary Helen Stroup
Mary Helen Stroup, 89, formerly of Karns City R.D. 1 and Butler, died Sunday at Outlook Pointe, Saxonburg, where she lived since March 1998.
Born in Pittsburgh, Aug. 15, 1912, she was the daughter of Anthony and Jenny Donnetelli Mannella.
She was a member of Fairview United Presbyterian Church, Petrolia.
A 1930 alumna of Homewood High School, she had been a telephone operator with Bell Telephone of Pittsburgh and had worked at Penn Township School in Wilkinsburg.
Surviving are two sons, Philip James Dayen of Gibsonia and John Paul Dayen of Evans City; two stepsons, Robert A. Stroup of Harbor Creek and Richard A. Stroup of Evans City; and two sisters, Mrs. Maurice (Pauline) Burling of Wilkinsburg and Mrs. Margaret Zimmer of Fort Worth, Texas.
Four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Her first husband, Philip Dayen, whom she married June 21, 1932, in Wellsburg, W.Va., died July 3, 1970; and her second husband, R. Ardell Stroup, whom she married in Clinton Sept. 19, 1982, died March 10, 1998. Three sisters and three brothers also preceded her in death.
STROUP - Friends of Mary Helen Stroup, who died Sunday, June 2, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at RICHARD D. HILLIS FUNERAL HOME, 102 Argyle St., Petrolia. John W. Miller
John W. Miller, 79, of Laveen, Ariz., died May 17.
Born in Fairview, he was the son of Lawrence and Esther Cumberland Miller.
Mr. Miller worked in the trucking industry most of his life.
He was a member of the Laveen Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge.
He served in the Army during World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Jacquelyn Miller; his children, Linda Brown and Terry Miller; four grandchildren; and five great-grandsons. Two brothers, Thomas Miller of Parker and William Miller of Petrolia; and five sisters, Nancy Wright and Gloria Sweeney, both of Petrolia, Mary Hesky of Butler, Esther Hemmerling of Orlando, Fla., and Diane King of Parker; and several nieces and nephews, also survive.
A sister preceded him in death.
MILLER - A service for John W. Miller, who died Friday, May 17, 2002, was May 20 at Laveen Baptist Church.
A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. June 14 at Petrolia Presbyterian Church.
John C. Deller Sr.
John C. Deller Sr., 82, of Zelienople and formerly of Sheraden died Saturday at St. John’s Specialty Care Center in Mars.
Born Jan. 5, 1920, in Pittsburgh, he was a son of Charles and Lulu Puhl Deller.
He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of the Park United Presbyterian Church in Zelienople and the Pittsburgh Lodge 45 Free and Accepted Masons and the Eastern Star Guyasuta Chapter 6.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Deller, whom he married Dec. 8, 1984.
Also surviving are four sons: John Deller Jr. of Imperial; Samuel Deller of Sheraden; David Bankert of North Carolina; and Robert Bankert of Indiana; four daughters: Jane Coleman of Imperial; Sarene Hunsberger of Washington, Pa.; Jolene Deller of Sheraden; and Rebecca Bankert of Missouri; a brother, Raymond Deller of Sheraden; a sister, Anna Koeper of Comer, Ga.; 20 grandchildren; and 19 great- grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Susan Deller, who died in April 1983; a brother; and a granddaughter.

Paul A. Burke
Paul A. Burke, 97, of Laurel Manor in Emlenton, formerly of Eau Claire, died at 2:32 p.m. Sunday at Sugar-Creek Station in Franklin after a long illness.
Born in Scrubgrass Township, Venango County, Oct. 25, 1904, he was the son of John F. and Margaret Emaline Heckathorne Burke.
Mr. Burke was a member, trustee and elder of the East Unity Presbyterian Church, Cherry Valley. He also was a member of the ECHO Club in Eau Claire until ill health prevented his participation.
He had retired from the Michigan-Limestone Corp. in Boyers. After his retirement, he worked with his nephew at Burk’s Furniture in Clintonville and also did carpentry with the late DeLoss Gibson.
He enjoyed collecting antiques and was an avid collector of brass ornaments. He also enjoyed gardening and yard work.
Surviving are a daughter, Peg Rankin of Parker; three sons, Harold and Paul B. Burke, both of Emlenton, and Samuel Burke of Boca Baton, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
His wife, Minnie Dally Burke, whom he married July 5, 1927, died Aug. 5, 2000. A son, three grandchildren, a brother, and two sisters also preceded him in death.
BURKE - Friends of Paul A. Burke, who died Sunday, June 2, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at H. JACK BUZARD FUNERAL HOME, Main Street, Eau Claire. Visitation also will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at East Unity Presbyterian Church, Cherry Valley, where services will follow at 11 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Ruby E. Brusina
Ruby E. Brusina, 64, of Chicora died at 2:35 a.m. Sunday at her home after an illness.
Born in Chicora, Nov. 28, 1937, she was the daughter of Glenn and Bertha Goldinger Hemphill.
Mrs. Brusina was a secretary for Logan Candy Co. from 1973 to 1995.
She was a member of the Chicora United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Joseph P. Brusina, whom she married Oct. 8, 1977; two daughters, Mrs. Diana Maxwell of Lyndora and Mrs. Martin (Debora) Murray of Fenelton; three sons, David Barnhart of Albion, Erie County, Donald Barnhart of Girard, Erie County, and Dennis Barnhart of Butler; and a stepdaughter, Mrs. Joseph (Deborah) Baynes of Cabot. Eight grandchildren and six step-grandchildren also survive.
BRUSINA - There will be no visitation. A graveside service for Ruby E. Brusina, who died Sunday, June 2, 2002, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. John’s Reformed Church Cemetery , 334 W. Slippery Rock St., Chicora. The Rev. John Emigh, pastor of Chicora United Methodist Church, will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Chicora Fire Department, Drawer F, Chicora, PA 16025.
