Dena M. Brown, 72, of 202 Piper Lane, Butler Township, died at 12:53 a.m. Sunday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born in New Kensington, Jan. 15, 1930, she was the daughter of Clarence and Alice Seanor Deahl.
She was a member of the North Main Street Church of God, where she was active in the Parents Without Partners group.
A 1948 graduate of Butler High School, she had been the head cashier at Associates Finance Co. from 1948 to 1963 and retired as a cashier at Butler Consumer Discount Co.
Surviving are a son, William R. “Bill” Brown III of Connellsville, Fayette County; a sister, Margaret “Peg” Simmer of Butler; and three brothers, John A. and Robert E. Deahl, both of Charlestown, W.Va., and Mickey Deahl of Butler. A granddaughter and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William R. “Bill” Brown Jr., who died in 1971; and by two sisters.

Philomena A. Zarnick
Philomena A. Zarnick, 66, of 109 Euclid Ave. died at 1:45 a.m. today at Sunnyview Nursing Home after an illness.
Born in Butler, Dec. 10, 1935, she was the daughter of Vincent and Catherine E. White Fornelli.
She was homemaker and a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church.
Surviving are her husband, James L. Zarnick Sr., to whom she was married for 44 years; two sons, James L. Zarnick Jr. of Rockville, Md., and Michael P. Zarnick of Fishkill, N.Y.; a daughter, Mrs. Jeffrey (Sherry A.) Barto of Butler; a brother, Louis Fornelli of Butler; two sisters, Mrs. Richard (Rose) Pallone and Josephine Cobern, both of Butler; and two grandsons.
Two sisters and two brothers preceded her in death.
ZARNICK - Friends of Philomena A. Zarnick, who died Thursday, May 30, 2002, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, 429 Center Ave. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, Center Avenue. The Rev. James Dolan, church pastor, will officiate. Entombment will be in the St. Michael Cemetery mausoleum.
The Bereavement Group of St. Michael Parish will hold a scriptural wake service at 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Butler County Unit.
Donald Carl Wolfe
Donald Carl Wolfe, 62, of Butler died at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born Dec. 19, 1939, in Butler, he was the son of John M. and Erma Thomas Wolfe.
A 1958 graduate of Butler High School, he was a retired hairdresser and formerly owned and operated beauty shops in the Butler area.
Mr. Wolfe was a Navy veteran.
He is survived by two brothers, Vern and Norman Wolfe, both of Butler.
WOLFE - There will be no visitation. A memorial service for Donald Carl Wolfe, who died Tuesday, May 28, 2002, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 127 W. Jefferson St. The Rev. Jack Nanz, pastor of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, will officiate. Burial will be at Butler County Memorial Park, Butler Township.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Hilton C. Shoemaker
Hilton C. Shoemaker, 96, of New Bethlehem R.D. 2 died at 7:35 p.m. Wednesday at Sugarcreek Rest, Worthington.
Born Aug. 31, 1915, in Deanville, Armstrong County, he was a son of Walter P. and Edna L. Wells Shoemaker.
Mr. Shoemaker had been a machinist at St. Charles Brickyard for 32 years.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in New Bethlehem.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Surviving are his wife, Alverda Kunselman Shoemaker, whom he married March 20, 1948; a son, Robert Shoemaker of East Brady; a daughter, Mrs. Curt (Darla) Smith of Arnold; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters.
SHOEMAKER - Friends of Hilton C. Shoemaker, who died Wednesday, May 29, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at RUPERT FUNERAL HOME, New Bethlehem. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The Rev. Marty Sturgeon, his church pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow at the Oakland Cemetery , Distant, Armstrong County.
John W. Miller
John W. Miller, 79, of Laveen, Ariz., died May 17.
Born in Fairview, he was the son of Lawrence and Esther Cumberland Miller.
Mr. Miller worked in the trucking industry most of his life.
He was a member of the Laveen Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge.
He served in the Army during World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Jacquelyn Miller; his children, Linda Brown and Terry Miller; four grandchildren; and five great-grandsons. Two brothers, Thomas Miller of Parker and William Miller of Petrolia; and five sisters, Nancy Wright and Gloria Sweeney, both of Petrolia, Mary Hesky of Butler, Esther Hemmerling of Orlando, Fla., and Diane King of Parker; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
A sister preceded him in death.
MILLER - A service for John W. Miller, who died Friday, May 20, 2002, was held at May 20 at Laveen Baptist Church.
A memorial service will be held 7 p.m. June 14 at Petrolia Presbyterian Church.
Paul C. Householder
Paul C. Householder of Shaler Township died Thursday.
Surviving are a daughter, Teresa Rehner; a son, Paul James Householder; and two sisters, Alberta Druschel and Anna Dean. Two grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha G. Householder; and four brothers.

James G. Holt
James G. Holt, 80, of Butler died at 4 a.m. Thursday at the Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
Born Aug. 20, 1921, in Center Township, he was the son of George and Hilda Smith Holt.
Mr. Holt retired from the Pennsylvania-American Water Co. after 32 years. He also enjoyed farming at his Connoquenessing Township home.
He was a member of St. Fidelis Catholic Church, Meridian.
He was a World War II Marine Corps veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Annagrace E. Landgraf Holt, whom he married April 19, 1947; a daughter, Mrs. Barry (Jane A.) Racey of Indian Springs, Ohio; two sons, James Holt Jr. of Sacramento, Calif., and William Holt of Butler; five grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. He also is survived by three sisters, Jessie Mounts, Mrs. Lawrence (Laura) Bloom and Mrs. Braden (Violet) Weitzel, all of Butler; and two brothers, Thomas Holt of Butler and Mack Holt of Connecticut.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.

Burial will be at Butler County Memorial Park, Butler Township.
A prayer service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Graveside military honors will be provided by VFW Post 249.
Alberta M. Fye
Alberta M. Fye, 81, of Harrisville, formerly of Pittsburgh, died at 3:28 p.m. Monday at United Community Hospital, Grove City.
She was born June 4, 1920, in New Castle.
There are no known survivors.

Guy Vernon Barger
Guy Vernon Barger, 66, of 347 Main Hill Road, Karns City, died of a heart attack at his home on Thursday.
Born Dec. 29, 1935, in Fredericksburg, Pa., he was the son of Vern Clair and Annie G. Duespohl Barger.
He had worked in maintenance at Daugherty Refinery, now Crompton Corp., for 15 years; U.N.C., Connecticut for 19˝ years; Thomas Weibel PLS for two years; and for Perry Township for eight years.
Mr. Barger was a Protestant.
He had served with the Army at Fort Banks, Mass.
He enjoyed auto racing, and collecting and showing engines.
Surviving are his wife, Helen Maxine Wiles Barger, whom he married March 28, 1956; two sisters, Loretta E. Maxwell of Franklin and Marylin Kay Weibel of East Brady; and two brothers, Carl R. and Jack L. Barger, both of Petrolia. A number of nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
BARGER - Friends of Guy Vernon Barger, who died Thursday, May 30, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at SNYDER-CRISSMAN FUNERAL HOME, Cowansville. Robert W. Yedlowski Sr.
Robert William Yedlowski Sr., 51, of East Deer Township died May 13, 2002, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh.
Born April 20, 1951, in Harrison Township, he was the son of Joseph R. Yedlowski and the late Lena Borrelli Yedlowski.
He lived in Cranberry Township for 16 years before returning to Creighton.
A 1969 graduate of East Deer High School, he received an associate degree in electronics from Gateway Technical School, Pittsburgh.
Mr. Yedlowski was an electronics technician at Aerotech, RIDC Park, O’Hara Township. He also was a licensed Realtor and broker for Century 21 of Lower Burrell and Crawford Realty of Harrison Township.
He was a member of the Toastmasters in Cranberry Township.
He also was a singer and guitarist and played on the East Coast in the 1970s-1980s with his late brother, Ron.
Surviving are a son and daughter, Robert W. Jr. and Renae M. Yedlowski, both of Cranberry Township; his father of East Deer; and two brothers, David C. Yedlowski of Plum and Joseph J. Yedlowski of East Deer Township.
In addition to his brother, he was preceded in death by his mother.
A Christian funeral Mass was celebrated May 16 at Mount St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, New Kensington.
