Meade E. Shannon, age 96 of Evans City Road, Renfrew, Pennsylvania, died Thursday, March 31, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at his residence.
Born July 10, 1908 in Connoquenessing Township, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Frank G. Shannon and the late Rose E. Anderson.
Mr. Shannon worked as manager and appraiser at Butler County Ford Motor Company retiring in 1969; he also owned and operated Shannon's Apple Orchard since 1953 until present. He was a member of the White Oak Spring Presbyterian Church were he was a choir member, Sunday School teacher, treasurer, elder, deacon, and trustee. He also worked at Pullman Standard shell shop during WWII. He was a member of the United Commercial Traveler, National Rifle Association, and the American Fruit Growers Association. He also was a driver for Meals on Wheels and was a former Justice of the Peace.
Mr. Shannon is survived by his wife Myrtle E. (Walker) Shannon whom he marriage on September 12, 1940, by one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Carol Ann) Orsborn of Renfrew, Pa; grand-daughter, Mrs. James (Kimberly) Alfonsi of Livonia, Michigan; grand-son, Jeffrey and his wife Elizabeth Orsborn of Butler, Pennsylvania; three great-grandchildren, Joseph M. and Daniel R. Orsborn and Julia V. Alfonsi, two brothers, William C. Shannon of Butler, Pennsylvania, Frank R. Shannon of Punta Gorda, Florida and by a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Shannon was preceded in death by one sister, Annabele McGinley.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Sunday, April 3, 2005 from 12 noon to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the Trinity Presbyterian Church on Monday, April 4, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Dennis Molnar of officiating. Interment will follow in Butler County Memorial Park.

Maurice Horwitz
July 20, 1908 - March 26, 2005
Maurice Horwitz, age 96 of Haverford Drive, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Saturday, March 26, 2005 at 11:29 p.m. in his winter home in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Born July 20, 1908 in Butler, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late William Horwitz and the late Dora Berman.
Mr. Horwitz was a member of Congregation B'Nai Abraham.
In 1930, Mr. Horwitz graduated from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. After WWII, Mr. Horwitz created an industry for heavy walled tubing. He created the structure for Marmon Keystone Company, the largest distributor for tubing and pipe in the United States. Keystone Tubular Service, with its headquarters in Butler, Pennsylvania, was sold to the Pritzker family's Marmon Group.
He was president of Marmon Keystone for twenty-five years, chairman of the board for Irene Stacey Mental Health Clinic, which has been rated the number one clinic in the state of Pennsylvania for many years until 1991, president of the Congregation B'Nai Abraham in Butler for several terms, secretary for the Butler Jewish Welfare Board for fifty years, chairman of Tri-State District of United Jewish Appeal, vice president of United Fund of Butler, Pennsylvania for several years, director and trustee of the YMCA in Butler and St. Fidelis College and Seminary in Herman, Pennsylvania. He enjoyed playing bridge, lifemaster.
Mr. Horwitz is survived by wife, Janice Horwitz, two sons, Henry Horwitz of London, France, Iowa City, Iowa, Tem Horwitz of Chicago, Illinois; seven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Horwitz was preceded in death by he his first wife, Rose Horwitz, who was deceased in 1975 and by two brothers and two sisters.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Wednesday, March 30, 2005 from 12 Noon until 2:00 p.m.
Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. with Cantor Adriane Caplowe officiating. Interment will follow in B'Nai Abraham Cemetery.

Jean C. Brown, age 77 of Park Crest Lane, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Saturday, March 26, 2005 in Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born September 18, 1927 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late David Emery and the late Irene Wynkoop.
Mrs. Brown was retired from Bobbie Brooks. She was a member of the Summit Presbyterian Church where she and her late husband, Albert L. "Skip" Brown, were active in the food cupboard and home visitation committees. She was also a member of the Jefferson Grange. .
Mrs. Brown is survived by a daughter, Mrs. George (Jeannie) Cassioli of Butler, Pennsylvania and two sons, Gary R. Brown and his wife, Paula and Albert L. "Skip" Brown and his wife, Idelle both of Butler, Pennsylvania; six grandchildren, Bennett and Casey Cassioli, Jessica, Erin, Ben and Jason Brown, a sister, Mrs. Dorothy Porter of Greenville, Pennsylvania, a brother Harry Emery of Darlington, Pennsylvania and by a number of nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Albert R. "Skip" Brown, Jr., was deceased on July 8, 2004 and two sisters, Lorraine Henry and Lois Lewis and one brother, David Emery, preceded Mrs. Brown in death.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, March 29, 2005 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
Services will be held at the Summit Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Jonathan Evans, pastor of her church, officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Burial Estates.

Charles LeRoy (Case) Hetrick
December 31, 1925 - March 25, 2005
Charles LeRoy (Case) Hetrick, age 79 of Madison Avenue, East Butler, Pennsylvania, died Friday, March 25, 2005 at 1:50 a.m. in the Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born December 31, 1925 in Summit Township, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Charles Monroe Hetrick and the late Bertha Carolina Kroh.
Mr. Hetrick worked in the paint shop at Pullman Standard and he retired in 1980 after 33 years of service. He was protestant by faith. In his earlier years, he was a popular country-western Disc Jockey for radio station WBUT in Butler, Pennsylvania. He had his own radio show, "The Uncle Charlie Show", and thousands in the Butler County area knew it. His Saturday afternoon performance, which was known as "The Butler County Jamboree" attracted many listeners with his "Country Gold Hour" and his top 20 hits from the country charts. Mr Hetrick was also on the staff at one of Western Pennsylvania's largest country parks, The Country Paradise Park, in neighboring Armstrong County. There he shared the chore of master of ceremonies for many of the Nashville Opera Stars.
He attended Butler High School and he had been a life long resident of East Butler, Pennsylvania. Mr. Hetrick was a life long member and acted as president of East Butler Fireman's Club. He was a former council member of the East Butler borough. He was one of the founding fathers of the East Butler Little League Association. He was president of the Bicentennial committee in East Butler, Pennsylvania. He also was a member of the Hick Reges Hell Drivers, member of the Sons of Italy and was chairman for the Butler County Beauty Pageant. .
Mr. Hetrick is survived by wife, Ines M. Hetrick, whom he marriage June 21, 1957; one daughter, Susan Shever and one son, Michael Hetrick both of East Butler, Pennsylvania; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Fred (Mary) Holfman also of East Butler, Pennsylvania; one brother, Reverend Paul Hetrick of Alhambra, California and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Hetrick was preceded in death by his son, Bruce Hetrick and his four sisters.

Arthur M. Wright
April 12, 1924 - March 24, 2005
Arthur M. Wright, age 80 of Franklin Street, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Thursday, March 24, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. in Butler Veterans Affair Medical Center.
Born April 12, 1924 in Butler, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late George C. Wright and the late Opal Martin.
Mr. Wright retired as an insurance agent for Century Company of America. Mr. Wright was a member of Grace at Calvary on the Diamond Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and WWII. He fought in the European Theater. He was a life member of the 78th Infantry Division Veterans Association, the VFW Post #249, and I.O.O.F. Connoquenessing Lodge #278. He was a member of Maqueda Chapter #421 Order of Eastern Star, the Victory Lodge #694 F & AM, and the Good Samaritan Shrine #32. He was a 1943 alumnus of Butler High School and he attended Thiel College.
Mr. Wright is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Wright of Butler, Pennsylvania, whom he marriage June 5, 1946; two sons Curtis O. Wright and his wife, Sherran of Butler, Pennsylvania and Allan M. Wright and his wife, Ruby of Phillipsburg, Pennsylvania, two daughters, Mrs. Matt (Linda) Brown of Clarkston, Georgia and Mrs. Shane (Melissa) Wood of Butler, Pennsylvania, five granddaughters, April Wright, Ashley Wright, Michele Wright, Kiersten Wood and Kierra Wood; and a sister, Mrs. William (Shirley) Say of Florida.

Emory E. "Spike" Shilling
August 29, 1935 - March 23, 2005
Emory E. "Spike" Shilling, age 69 of North Road, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Wednesday, March 23, 2005 at 1:35 p.m. in Butler Memorial Hospital after a long battle with cancer.
Born August 29, 1935 in Sarver, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Daniel Leroy Shilling and the late Grace Elnor Glantz.
Mr. Shilling was employed as a truck driver for over 40 years for the Hess Trucking Company, Lewis L. Gumm Trucking Company, and Newcomer Truck Company. He was a member of The Tri-State Country Music Association. He was a graduate of Butler High School.
Mr. Shilling is survived by wife, Eleanora (Nora) Kummer Shilling, whom he marriage February 1, 1969; a son, William Shilling a daughter, Mrs. Steve (Debra) Krause both of Finley, Ohio; three grandsons, Steven Shilling, Wieler May and Eric May, a brother, Delmar Shilling and his wife, Norma Jean of Karns City, Pennsylvania; three sisters, Lorraine Petri, Eileen Schmitt, and Mildred Seitz all of Whitesboro, New York; many nieces and nephews and his first wife, Charlotte Benjamin White.
Two sons, four brothers and three sisters preceded Mr. Shilling in death.
