John W. Stevenson

John W. Stevenson, 69, of Butler died at 8:25 p.m. Friday in the emergency room at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born Oct. 23, 1932, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of Mildred Stevenson.

He worked as a cable splicer/telephone technician for Sprint Corp., retiring in March 1998 after 30 years of service.

He also served as deputy coroner for Butler County for many years.

After retirement, he worked at the VFW in Butler and helped the Young family at their funeral homes.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Korean War.

He was a member of: Victory Lodge No. 694; three times Past Exalted Ruler of Butler Elks No. 170; VFW Post 249; American Legion Post 117 and 243; Syria Temple; Butler Shrine Caravan 14; and the Moose and Slovak clubs.

He enjoyed fishing, traveling and spending time with his family.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Shirley) Domhoff and Kelly Jo Stevenson, both of Butler; two sons, John Stevenson Jr. of Butler and Ryan Stevenson of Carlisle, Pa.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

STEVENSON - Friends of John W. Stevenson, who died Friday, May 10, 2002, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at WILLIAM F. YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 127 W. Jefferson St. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday from the funeral home, with the Rev. Dennis Molnar, pastor of Trinity Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will follow in West Sunbury Union Cemetery .

Masonic services by Lodge 694 will be held at 6:45 p.m. today at the funeral home. Graveside military honors will be provided by VFW Post 249.

Floyd Kenneth Robinson

Floyd Kenneth Robinson, 89, of 509 Mt. Lake Park, Md., formerly of Harrisville and Mercer, died at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Cortland Acres Nursing Home in Tucker County, W.Va.

Born July 5, 1912, in Lackawannock Township, Mercer County, he was the son of Floyd and Ora Knauff Robinson.

He was a self-employed farmer for 30 years. He also had worked for 13˝ years at Cassing Co. in West Middlesex as a machine operator, retiring in the early 1990s.

He was a member of the Harmony United Presbyterian Church in Harrisville.

He is survived by his second wife, Ruby Robinson of Mt. Lake Park, Md., whom he married Nov. 3, 1980.

Also surviving are two step-sons, Ronald and Robert Heginbotham, both of Mt. Lake Park; five step-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eva Hamilton, who died Nov. 22, 1972, and whom he married May 23, 1933.

ROBINSON - Friends of Floyd Kenneth Robinson, who died Saturday, May 11, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. John McElwain, pastor of Harmony United Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Carpenter Cemetery , Springfield Township, Mercer County.

Kathryn M. ‘Binky’ Kerr

Kathryn M. “Binky” Kerr, 77, of Butler died at 6:10 a.m. Saturday at Sunnyview Home.

Born April 11, 1925, in Butler, she was the daughter of Arthur and Elsie Piatt George.

She worked as a church secretary for the Trinity Lutheran Church for more than 10 years.

She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and the Butler Country Club.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. George A. “Bud” Patten of North Canton, Ohio; two sons, Dennis Kerr and Bruce Kerr, both of Butler; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Robert “Tex” Kerr, who died May 16, 1996.

Also preceding her in death were a sister and a brother.

KERR - A memorial service for Kathryn M. “Binky” Kerr, who died Saturday, May 11, 2002, will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Thomas Pierotti will officiate.

Arrangements are being made by WILLIAM F. YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 127 W. Jefferson St.

George Elmer Hiles

George Elmer Hiles, 70, of Sanford, N.C., died Friday at his home.

Born in East Brady, he was a son of William and Blandi Irene Salsgiver Hiles.

He served in the U.S. Army, retiring after 22 years.

After retirement, he worked for the U.S. Government Civil Service and retired there after another 20 years.

He was a member of the VFW, The American Legion and the Moose Lodge.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. James (Mary) Knight and Mrs. Gerald (Victoria) Sellers, both of Sanford; two sons, Ronald Hiles and David Hiles, both of Sanford; a brother, Lloyd Hiles of Phoenix; four sisters, Mildred Buzzard, Mary Ann Larimore and Esther Senopole, all of Butler, and Rosann Hiles of Sun Lakes, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Josephine Consider Hiles, and a brother.

HILES - Friends of George Elmer Hiles, who died Friday, May 10, 2002, will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until noon Tuesday at the ROGERS-PICKARD FUNERAL HOME, 509 Carthage St., Sanford, N.C. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Lemon Springs Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church Cemetery .

Dorothy A. Fronapel

Dorothy A. Fronapel, 75, of Butler died at 10:25 p.m. Friday at Sunnyview Home.

Born Aug. 2, 1926, in Buffalo, N.Y., she was a daughter of William and Bessie Lindsey.

She worked as an administrative secretary for Corning Community College.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Russell (Cheryl) Fronapel-Hildebrand of Butler; five grandchildren; and a sister, Helen Davenport of Tucson, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Fronapel, who died Dec. 26, 2000, and whom she married Aug. 14, 1945.

Also preceding her in death were a daughter, a sister and two brothers.

There will be no visitation. Private services and burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are being made by WILLIAM F. YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 127 W. Jefferson St.

Martin D. ‘Marty’ Wolf

Martin D. “Marty” Wolf, 51, of Butler and East Brady died of cancer at 6:10 p.m. Sunday at his home in East Brady.

Born Oct. 9, 1950, in Mars, he was the son of Herman M. and Carolyn Kritzanic Wolf.

He was a mechanic for Jerry Merchant Towing & Service, Karns City.

Surviving are his companion, Dee Dee McGrady, with whom he made his home; a daughter Kim Wolf of Butler; a son, Jason Wolf of Butler; a stepson, Darrell Bowers of Grove City; and a granddaughter. Three sisters, Dora Abels, Carolyn Jarrett and Mrs. William (Alice) Crider, all of Butler; three brothers, John Wolf of Oklahoma and Robert and Lawrence Wolf, both of Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Debra Stadelmyer Bowers Wolf, who died April 29, 1995; and a brother.

WOLF - Friends of Martin D. “Marty” Wolf, who died Sunday May 12, 2002, will be received from 5 to 6 p.m. Saturday at YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 127 W. Jefferson St. Private services and burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Memorial donations may be made to the V.N.A. Hospice, 154 Hindman Road, Butler, PA 16001.

Mary Catherine Snyder

Mary Catherine Snyder, 85, of Butler died at 10:55 p.m. Sunday, May 12, 2002, at Autumn Grove Care Center, Harrisville.

She was born Jan. 3, 1917, in Dunlap, Pa.

She had worked in the housekeeping department at Sunnyview Nursing Home and also had worked at Natili-North Restaurant.

Surviving are a daughter, Virginia Chippero of Butler; a granddaughter, Anita Chippero of Butler; and five brothers and sisters.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Gustine Chippero.

Private services and burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are being handled by YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, Butler.

Helen A. Protzman

Helen A. Protzman, 100, formerly of Herman and Freeport Road, died at 6:30 a.m. Monday at Concordia Lutheran Ministries, Cabot.

Born in New Castle, March 17, 1902, she was the daughter of Henry and Christian Binsak Lowry.

She was a homemaker and had taught at Summit Township School.

Mrs. Protzman was the oldest member of St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she belonged to the Friendly Bible Class, the Women of the Church and the Helping Hands. She also belonged to the Tanglewood Senior Center, the American Association of Retired Persons and the Pennsylvania State Education Association.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Keith (Edith) Oesterling, Mrs. Robert (Mildred) Sutton and Mrs. Velma Smith, all of Butler; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Her husband, Albert G. Protzman, died Dec 13, 1969. Two sisters and two brothers also preceded her in death.

PROTZMAN - Friends of Helen A. Protzman, who died Monday May 13, 2002, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. The Rev. Philip Williams and the Rev. Richard Leseganich, church pastors, will officiate. Burial will be at Gruenwald Cemetery , Summit Township.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church Library Fund, 201 W. Jefferson St., Butler, PA 16001; or to Meals on Wheels, 218 E. Jefferson St., Butler, PA 16001.

Letha P. Miller

Letha P. Miller, 98, formerly of Summit Township, died Sunday at the home of her granddaughter in Seymour, Tenn.

Born July 15, 1903, in Sherman, Texas, she was the daughter of Pearlie Herman and Ila Kemp Crowse.

She was a member of the Hill United Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are a daughter, M. Jamesine Braun of Lakeland, Fla.; a granddaughter, Beverly Seaton, with whom she made her home; and a grandson, Bruce Braun of Pensacola, Fla. Four great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Her husband, James R. Miller, whom she married May 23, 1922, died June 10, 1938. Four sisters also preceded her in death.

MILLER - Friends of Letha F. Miller, who died Sunday, May 12, 2002, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 127 W. Jefferson St. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Clark Sawyer, her church pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery .

George E. Kutlesa

George E. Kutlesa, 73, of Struthers, Ohio, died April 26, 2002, at Forum Northside Health Care Center, Youngstown, Ohio.

Born Nov. 11, 1928, in East Brady, he was the son of John and Frances Nezovich Kutlesa.

He lived in the Struthers area since the early 1940s and had attended Struthers High School.

Mr. Kutlesa retired from Consumers Ohio Water in 1992 after 28 years.

He was an Army veteran and served 32 months in the Panama Canal Zone.

He was active in his community and was a current trustee for the Struthers Community Chest. He was a charter member of the Struthers Historical Society, and a volunteer for the National Park Service at Kingsley Plantation, Amelia Island, Fla.

He was an avid golfer and had traveled to the western states 10 times in his life.

Surviving are his wife, Marina Butinski Kutlesa, whom he married Oct. 2, 1954; a daughter, Debbie Zetts of Struthers; and two granddaughters. Two sisters, Eleanor Cebak of Naples, Fla., and Betty Carabbia of Struthers; and a brother; John Kutlesa of New Middletown, Ohio, also survive.

Services were at DAVIDSON-BECKER FUNERAL HOME, Struthers. Burial was at Lake Park Cemetery , Youngstown.
