Davis Bergbigler

Davis Bergbigler, 72, of Fenelton died Tuesday at the Chicora Medical Center.

Born March 19, 1929, in Butler County, he was a son of William J. and Rose (Goble) Bergbigler.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps.

He worked for Standard Insulation Co. for 13 years before he became self-employed in the carpenter contracting business in Maryland, until be retired in 1988.

Surviving are two daughters, Davine Sparks of Kansas City, Mo., and Ellen Yates of Phoenix, Ariz.; two sons, David Bergbigler Jr. of Independence, Mo., and Henry Bergbigler of New Castle; two brothers, Robert Bergbigler and Charles Bergbigler, both of Butler; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Parker Bergbigler, who died in 1971; two sons; and a brother.

BERGBIGLER - Friends of Davis Bergbigler, who died Tuesday, Feb. 5 2002, will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 127 W. Jefferson St. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. A private burial will be at Butler County Memorial Park.

Anna Elisabeth Young

Anna Elisabeth Young, 89, of Ingram died at 2 a.m. Saturday at County Meadows Home in Bridgeville, Washington County.

Born Sept. 25, 1912, in Sheridian, Allegheny County, she was a daughter of Harry Lester and Anna Alma Hawbaker Young.

She was a graduate of Langley High School, the Frick Teacher Training School and received a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Pittsburgh’s Class in 1934.

She taught school in Pittsburgh schools for more than 40 years, with most of her career at Dilworth School in East Liberty.

She was a former auxiliary member of the Mars Home for Children board and a 67-year member of the First Presbyterian Church in Pittsburgh.

She is survived by a sister, Mary Louise Oberlin of Upper St. Clair, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.

YOUNG - Services for Anna Elisabeth Young, who died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2002, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the First Presbyterian Church, 320 Sixth Ave., Pittsburgh. The Rev. Robert Leslie Holmes will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Douglas Dunderdale. A private burial will be held in Hollywood Cemetery , Sheridian.

Memorial contributions may be made to Ligonier Camp and Conference Center, in care of her church.

Arrangements are being made by YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 127 W. Jefferson St.

Josephine M. Petrowski

Josephine M. Petrowski, 74, of Butler, formerly of Evans City, died Saturday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born Aug. 28, 1927, in Evans City, she was the daughter of Peter J. and Opal M. Kennedy Brueckman.

Mrs. Petrowski retired in 1985 from the Callery Chemical Co. Division of MSA, where she had been an executive secretary. She also had worked at BASF in Charlotte, N.C.

She was a member of the Plum Creek Presbyterian Church and was a former elder at the Westminster United Presbyterian Church in Evans City. She was a past president of the Business and Professional Women in Evans City and a past president of the Women’s Loyal Order of the Moose of Harmony.

She is survived by her husband, Rudolph M. Petrowski, whom she married May 2, 1945; a daughter, Michele P. Myers-Cepicka of Plum; a brother, Ronald “Pete” Brueckman of Evans City; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter.

PETROWSKI - Friends of Josephine M. Petrowski, who died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Tuesday at BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME, 116 E. Main St., Evans City. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Rosalyn Kummer, pastor of the Harlansburg Presbyterian Church and East Brook Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will at Evans City Cemetery .

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 10 Duff Road, Suite 304, Pittsburgh, PA 15235.

Ralph H. Pearce

Ralph H. Pearce, 84, of Moon Township, formerly of Mars and Wexford, died Saturday at Sewickley Valley Hospital after a short illness.

Born in Pine Township, Feb. 16, 1917, he was the son of Wesley and Bessie Hill Pearce.

He was a member and elder of the Sharon Community Presbyterian Church in Moon Township and had been active in other positions at the church. He also was a member of the John E. Mair Lodge 729 F&AM of Mars.

Mr. Pearce had worked at the North Pittsburgh Telephone Co. for 17 years and retired from Merck as building superintendent after 26 years.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Ruth Gray Pearce of Moon Township; three sons, Paul W. Pearce of Barboursville, Va., Carl D. Pearce of Mars and Larry E. Pearce of Boswell, Pa.; a daughter, Ellen L. Pearce of Moon Township, with whom he made his home; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers.

PEARCE - Friends of Ralph H. Pearce, who died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at McDONALD-AEBERLI FUNERAL HOME, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars. Services will be at noon Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Allegheny County Memorial Park, McCandless Township.

Memorial donations may be made to Community Center Fund, c/o Sharon Community Presbyterian Church, Moon Township PA 15108.

Vernetta B. McCall

Vernetta B. McCall, 79, of Clinton Township died Sunday at Allegheny Valley Hospital.

Born March 12, 1922, in Tarentum, Allegheny County, she was a daughter of Robert and Minnie Morris Cunningham.

She was a cafeteria worker at the South Butler School District.

She was a member of the Clinton United Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by a son, Gary McCall of Valencia; two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Iris) Henry of Natrona Heights and Barbara McCall of Valencia; a sister, Mrs. Betty Applegarth of Natrona Heights; and seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, W. Wayne McCall, who died Feb. 13, 1994.

MCCALL - Friends of Vernetta B. McCall, who died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at FOX FUNERAL HOME in Saxonburg. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. John Callahan Jr., her pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Clinton United Presbyterian Cemetery .

Memorial contributions may be made to Clinton United Presbyterian Church, 197 Glade Mill Road, Saxonburg, PA 16056.

Juanita M. Martin

Juanita M. Martin, 74, of Butler and formerly of Penn Township died at 3:45 a.m. Saturday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born May 2, 1927, in Washington, Washington County, she was a daughter of Willis and Lucille Tarbert McBratney.

She was a former employee of veterinarian Dr. Laird Thompson, for whom she worked for 17 years.

She was a member of the Nixon United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a sister, June Standiford of Washington, Pa.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Martin, who died July 9, 1986.

Also preceding her in death were a sister and a brother.

Private services and burial will be at the Brownsdale Cemetery at the family’s convenience.

Arrangements are being made by YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 127 W. Jefferson St.

Frances E. Kepple

Frances E. Kepple, 84, of Sugarcreek Township, Armstrong County, died Saturday at her home.

Born April 13, 1917, in Slate Lick, she was the daughter of Frank B. and Carrie B. Kuhns Rea.

A 1935 graduate of Freeport High School, she was a homemaker and had been active in volunteer work for the American Cancer Society.

Mrs. Kepple was a member of the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church of East Brady and was a former member of the Armstrong County Republican Women.

Surviving are her husband, Chancey A. Kepple, whom she married March 29, 1945; a son, George R. Kepple of Sugarcreek Township; a sister, Anna J. Rea of Kittanning; and two grandchildren.

Two brothers preceded her in death.

KEPPLE - Friends of Frances E. Kepple, who died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at CHARLES B. BUECHELE FUNERAL HOME, 105 Fourth St., East Brady. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Edwin Dixon, her church pastor, will officiate. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery , Sugarcreek Township.

Memorial donations may be made to the VNA Hospice, 154 Hindman Road, Butler, PA 16001.

Erin Ann Edwards

Erin Ann Edwards, 4, of 243 Chicora Road died Friday at Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh following an extended illness.

Born July 17, 1997, in Kittanning, she was a daughter of Richard and Tammy Landsperger Edwards.

She is survived by her parents and a twin sister, Cassandra Edwards.

Also surviving are three brothers, Richard, Shawn and Nicholas Edwards, all at home; her maternal grandmother, Mrs. Kathleen Landsperger and her companion, James Webb of Butler; her paternal grandmother, Mrs. Lawrence “Tubby” (Darlene) Wetzell of Chicora; three aunts, an uncle and numerous cousins.

EDWARDS - Friends of Erin Ann Edwards, who died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today at GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Richard Freeman, manager of pastoral care at Children’s Hospital, officiating. Burial will be in the Limestone Church of God Cemetery in Adrian, Pa.

Mrs. Eva S. Bowser

Mrs. Eva Stuebgen Bowser, 89, of Pittsburgh died Saturday at Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Born March 22, 1912, in Saxonburg, she was a daughter of Julius and Amelia Behning Stuebgen.

She had lived in the Pittsburgh area for more than 60 years.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Donald (Shirley) Kinard of Clinton Township, Patricia Bowser of South Buffalo Township, and Mrs. Larry (Donna) Rose of Long Beach, Calif.; a brother, Ardell Stuebgen of Pittsburgh; two sisters, Sylvia Markey and Etta Noble, both of Saxonburg; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

BOWSER - Friends of Mrs. Eva Stuebgen Bowser, who died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at ROBERT PETERS FUNERAL HOME, 1521 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights. Services will be held at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Harry Souders, pastor of Faith Lutheran Church, officiating. Private burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.

Elizabeth P. Abromik

Elizabeth P. Abromik, 82, of Zelienople died Friday at Passavant Retirement & Health Center, Zelienople.

Born Oct. 14, 1919, in Forestville, she was the daughter of William P. and Esther Cummings Donovan.

She was a member of St. Gregory Catholic Church of Zelienople, 60 Plus and the Mercy Hospital Alumni Association. She was a former member of the American Association of Retired Persons and the Zelienople American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward R. Abromik, who died June 5, 1992.

Surviving are two half-brothers, Donald and Duane Copeland, both of Pleasantville; a niece; and three nephews.

ABROMIK - Friends of Elizabeth P. Abromik, who died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Gregory Roman Catholic Church, Zelienople. The Rev. William Ritzert, pastor of St. Matthias Catholic Church of Evans City, will officiate. Burial will be at Evans City Cemetery .
