Mary L. Zywicke, 79, formerly of the Townhouse Apartments died Sunday at Chicora Medical Center.
Born June 27, 1922, in Butler, she was a daughter of Frank and Yvonne Pett Tishey.
She worked for the California Department of Transportation as a supervisor for the procurement and real estate division of federal aviation administration in Redondo Beach, Calif. She retired in 1985 after 37 years with the department.
She moved back to Butler following her retirement.
She was a member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Butler.
She was a crossword puzzle enthusiast and also enjoyed doing needlepoint.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Yvonne Nemcek of Butler, who took care of her; John Nemcek of East Amhurst, N.Y., and Blaise Tishey of South Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Zywicke, who died Dec. 16, 1985. Also preceding her in death were two brothers and two sisters.
ZYWICKE - A Mass of Christian burial for Mary L. Zywicke, who died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 127 Franklin St. The Rev. Jack Nanz, her pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery .

Patricia M. Hallisey Titler
Patricia M. Hallisey Titler, 70, of Lower Paxton Township, Dauphin County, died Sunday at Harrisburg Hospital.
A graduate of Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsburgh, she retired after 18 years as a registered nurse in the office of Dr. Stanley Goldman.
Mrs. Titler was a member of St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church, Swatara Township, Lebanon County.
She was the widow of Roy L. Titler.
Surviving are three sons, Barry and Jeffrey Titler, both of Harrisburg, and Timothy L. Titler of Butler; a daughter, Mary E. Becker of Dover, York County; and eight grandchildren. Two sisters, Joanne Nebel of Aliquippa and Denise Vojtasko of Myerstown, Lebanon County, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
TITLER - Friends of Patricia M. Hallisey Titler, who died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, will be received from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at NEILL FUNERAL HOME, 3501 Derry St., Harrisburg. Cecil Charlotte Plunkard
Cecil Charlotte Plunkard, 88, formerly of Boyd Drive, died Monday at Sunnyview Nursing Home.
Born Feb. 28, 1913, in Butler, she was the daughter of James P. and Flora Marburger Wonderly.
She had been a self-employed hairdresser and also worked at Sun Drug and Winters Drug stores.
Mrs. Plunkard was a member of the North Butler Presbyterian Church.
Her husband, Walter Plunkard, whom she married in 1946, died in 1969. Two brothers and three sisters also preceded her in death.
PLUNKARD - Friends of Cecil Charlotte Plunkard, who died Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 127 W. Jefferson St. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Mary Sickels, her church pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery .

Dolores E. McClafferty
Dolores E. McClafferty, 72, of Fenelton died Monday at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital.
Born May 26, 1929, in Detroit, she was a daughter of Adam and Josephine Weber Karch.
She was employed with the Butler School District for 22 years, where she worked in the food service department until her retirement in 1986.
She served as president for nine years for the Butler Local of School Food Service Workers union.
She also attended classes in management and menu planning at the Indiana (Pa.) University.
She was a member of St. Johns Roman Catholic Church in Coylesville. She was a C.C.D. teacher at the church for 22 years and also a Eucharistic Minister for the church.
In 2001, she was a recipient of the Diocese of Pittsburgh’s Manifest of the Kingdom 2001 award.
She was a member of the Herman Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary since 1957 and one of only three people to hold every office of the organization.
She also was an avid hunter and a fishing enthusiast.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond McClafferty.
Also surviving is a daughter, Mrs. James (Elaine) Weifenbaugh of Renfrew; two sisters, Mrs. Josephine Schnur of Herman and Mrs. Edward (Elaine) Bercik of Edinboro; five grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son and two brothers.

Floy L. McCandless
Floy L. McCandless, 96, formerly of South Benbrook Road, died at 7:25 p.m. Monday at the Chicora Medical Center.
Born in Butler, June 24, 1905, she was the daughter of John W. and Cora Lawrence McCandless.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. McCandless was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Center Township and a charter member of the Unionville Grange.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Mary Alice Parsons and Mrs. Paul E. (Patricia) Hutchison, both of Butler, Mrs. Helen King of Arlington, Va., and Mrs. Kenneth (Gladys) Gooding of Westland, Mich.; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Hazel Parsons of Linesville, Venango County, and Mrs. Loy (Florence) Youkers and Mrs. Lela Hutchison, both of Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Albert L. McCandless, died April 5, 1990. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, four sisters and three brothers.
McCANDLESS - Friends of Floy L. McCandless, who died Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. Helen L. Messina
Helen L. Messina of 429 Morton Ave. died Monday at Butler Memorial Hospital after an illness.
Born in Chicora, she was the daughter of John W. and Cecelia Byers Geagan.
She was a homemaker and had worked at the Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center for more than 20 years. She also had worked at Brenda Morris and Lowell’s dress shops and Troutman’s department store. During World War II, she had worked in the shell shop at Pullman Standard.
Mrs. Messina was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church.
Surviving are her husband, Vincent Messina; a son, Charles Ferris of West Palm Beach, Fla.; three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Joyce) Zanella of Chicora, Mrs. David (Valerie) Price of New Castle and Mrs. Margaret Edinger of Butler; a brother, John Geagan of Butler; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, a sister and two brothers.

Messina, who died Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, 429 Center Ave. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, Center Avenue. Burial will be at the church Cemetery .
The Bereavement Group of St. Michael parish will hold at scriptural wake service at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Richard L. Henry
Richard L. Henry, 74, of Fombell died Sunday at Ellwood City Hospital in Ellwood.
Born Aug. 12, 1927, in Armstrong County, he was a son of Daniel and Jessie McKain Henry.
He retired in 1979 as a molder with the Brighton Electric Steel Co. in Beaver Falls.
He is survived by his wife, June Henry, who he married Dec. 25, 1947.
Also surviving are two sons, Richard Henry of Ellwood City and Gerald Henry of Monaca; a daughter, Linda Henry of Fombell; two brothers, Robert Henry of Bliss, N.Y., and Floyd Henry of Erie; two sisters, Flora Preister of Rimersburg and Hulda Ramsey of Youngstown, Ohio; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister.

Helen M. Albert
Helen M. Albert, 88, of Cliffside Apartments, formerly of West Brady Street, died Monday at her home.
Born Feb. 9, 1913, in Butler, she was the daughter of John C. and Estella Fair Albert.
She worked in the housekeeping department of the operating room at Butler Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1971 after 12 years. She previously had worked at Spaide Shirt Factory.
She was a member of Cliffside Bible Study Group and had been a member of Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church since 1927. She had been a member of the Sunday school.
She is survived by five sisters, Pearl Dollar, Dorothy Bonyak, Grace Simitoski and Doris Ashbaugh, all of Butler, and Ruth Shuler of Tarentum; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by six brothers and a sister.
ALBERT - Friends of Helen M. Albert, who died Monday Feb. 4, 2002, will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St. Services will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. James Mohr presiding. Interment

Shirley Lee Hilderbrand
Shirley Lee Hilderbrand, 67, of 685 Chicora-Fenelton Road, Donegal Township, died at 11 a.m. Thursday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born in Clarion County, Jan. 21, 1935, she was the daughter of Wilbur H. and Gladys Elsloger Kiser.
She was a graduate of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and was an avid painter.
Mrs. Hilderbrand owned and operated Shirley’s Suntan & Beauty Salon on North Monroe Street for more than 30 years and had been the gold medal dance director for Arthur Murray Dance Studios in Jacksonville, Fla.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Butler Chapter 45 Order of the Easter Star.
She is survived by her husband, Robert G. Hilderbrand, whom she married Feb. 2, 1967; a son and daughter, Brent D. and Kelli Jo Hilderbrand, both of Fenelton; a brother, Gary Kiser of Butler; and three sisters, Beatrice Hanst of Tempe, Ariz.; Marie Miley of Melbourne, Fla., and Marion Rakovon of Brookville. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Two brothers preceded her in death.

Carl Bruce Eberle
Carl Bruce Eberle, 54, of 245 Elizabeth Ave., Evans City, died of natural causes at 11:45 p.m. Wednesday at St. Francis Medical Center North, Cranberry Township.
Born in Ellwood City, Dec. 12, 1947, he was the son of Carl E. Eberle and the late Iva Jean Parsons Eberle.
He was a school bus driver for the Seneca Valley School District and a salesperson at Home Depot in Cranberry Township.
Mr. Eberle was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and also belonged to the church choir.
He was active in Boy Scouting with Troop 29 and Moraine Trails Council.
Surviving are four sons, Carl Richard Eberle of Lehi, Utah, Ethan Allen Eberle of Evans City, and Daniel Morgan Eberle and Frank Narient Eberle, both of Marysville, Calif.; his father of Butler; three sisters, Barbara Eberle of Evans City, Mrs. Frank (Peg) Cloud of Butler and Mrs. Lance (Martha) Gardner of Phoenix, Ariz.; and two brothers, William Eberle of Butler and John Eberle of Connoquenessing. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.
A brother preceded him in death.
