Betty Lou Davis, 75, of Taylor Street in Petrolia died Tuesday at her home of natural causes.
Born in Butler, June 16, 1927, she was the daughter of Clark Geibel and Sue Graham Geibel Redick.
She was a member of Mater Dolorosa Roman Catholic Church of Chicora and had attended Butler schools.
Surviving are a brother, Donald J. Geibel and his wife Joan of Butler; and close friends, Marilyn Mourer and her husband George of Chicora, Larry and Nancy Gifford and family, Paul Bullman and Connie Eakin, all of Petrolia; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Her husband, James Edward Davis, whom she married July 16, 1948, in Butler, died Nov. 30, 1986. A sister, Bonnie J. Deitz, died July 29, 2001.

Jason L. ‘Jay’ Bowser
Jason L. “Jay” Bowser, 27, of Leechburg died Sunday at Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights.
He was born Oct. 17, 1974, in Natrona Heights.
Mr. Bowser was a welder at Pittsburgh Fabrication & Machine, Nevel Island. Prior to that, he was a chef at St. Barnabas Retirement Village, Gibsonia.
He is survived by his father, Joseph L. Bowser of Leechburg; his mother, Deborah Richter Bowser of Clinton Township; a brother, Josh L. Bowser of Clinton Township; his fiancée, Sara L. Rizzo of West Deer Township; and his paternal grandparents, Eugene and Dorothy Church Bowser of New Kensington.

Vera Raymelle Heyne
Vera Raymelle Heyne, 77, of Schiebel Road died at 11:58 a.m. Saturday at her home.
Born in Riverside, Calif., Sept. 16, 1924, she was the daughter of Claude Wallace Lightfoot and Madge L. Bezzo Lightfoot.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Heyne was a member of the First English Lutheran Church and a former member of the Pittsburgh Garden Club and the Western Pennsylvania Budgerigar Society.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Russ (Janice) Greer of Butler; a son, Carl J. Heyne III of Allison Park; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She also is survived by a sister, Mrs. Lothar (Margaret) Schneider of California, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl J. Heyne Jr., who died May 14, 1988, a brother, and a sister.
HEYNE - There will be no public visitation. A memorial service for Vera Raymelle Heyne, who died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at First English Lutheran Church with the Rev. James Dollhopf, church pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Braddock Cemetery , North Braddock, Allegheny County.

Hilda M. Speicher
Hilda M. Speicher, 87, of Mars, formerly of Cranberry Township, died early this morning at UPMC Passavant Hospital, McCandless Township.
Born in Pittsburgh, Oct. 9, 1914, she was the daughter of Andrew J. and Marie Henry Grosick.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Kilian Roman Catholic Church in Mars and the Cranberry Senior Citizens.
Surviving are a brother, Raymond Grosick of Baden, and many nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Edward G. Speicher, whom she married May 6, 1936, died Oct. 21, 1981. A son, six brothers and a sister also preceded her in death.

Herman W. Scherer Sr.
Herman W. Scherer Sr., 78, of 146 Cherry Road, Chicora, died Wednesday afternoon at Butler Memorial Hospital after an illness.
Born in Pittsburgh, Aug. 16, 1923, he was the son of Benjamin and Matilda Killmeyer Scherer.
Mr. Scherer was a retired stonesetter and had worked for the House of Krause in Butler for 30 years.
He was a member of Mater Dolorosa Roman Catholic Church and the Loyal Order of Moose, both of Chicora.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
Surviving are his wife, withEvelyn Rohm Scherer, whom he married Oct. 30, 1949; two sons, Herman W. “Chic” Jr. and Gerald Scherer, both of Chicora; a daughter, Mrs. William (Jennifer) Gregor, also of Chicora; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
SCHERER - Friends of Herman W. Scherer Sr., who died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME, 111 E. Slippery Rock St., Chicora. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at Mater Dolorosa Roman Catholic Church, 409 N. Main St., Chicora. The Rev. David DeWitt, church pastor, will officiate.
Members of the Chicora VFW and American Legion will conduct military honors.
Florence A. Whiteside
Florence A. Whiteside, 90, formerly of Center Avenue, died at 7:55 a.m. Thursday at Sunnyview Nursing Home.
Born March 5, 1911, in Butler, she was the daughter of Charles Roy and Nancy Jane Emrick Mortland.
She was a homemaker and a member of Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Gertrude M. Sweeney of Carnegie and Mrs. Harold (Grace) Russell of Cincinnati, Ohio; a niece; five nephews; a grandniece; and two grandnephews.
Her husband, Raymond Whiteside, who died Oct. 17, 1966; a brother; and a sister preceded her in death.
WHITESIDE - Friends of Florence A. Whiteside, who died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002, will be received from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. Frances Wasik
Frances Wasik, 79, of Saxony Health Center in Saxonburg, formerly of Harwick, died Wednesday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born in Harwick, Allegheny County, Dec. 31, 1922, she was the daughter of George and Anna Tylawsky Shoskin.
She retired as a cafeteria worker at Westinghouse Government Services in Cheswick after 28 years.
Mrs. Wasik was a member of the Springdale United Methodist Church and the Springdale Chapter Order of the Eastern Star.
Surviving are her husband, Stanley Wasik, whom she married March 2, 1946; a son, Wesley J. Wasik of Woodlands, Texas; a daughter, Mrs. Frank (Jacqueline) Wise of Saxonburg; and two brothers, John W. Shoskin of Palm Harbor, Fla., and George Shoskin of Erie. Two step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren also survive.

George H. McConnell
George H. McConnell, 71, of Clintonville died at 8:44 a.m. Wednesday at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Mich., after a long illness.
He was a lifelong resident of the Clintonville area and flew to Michigan on Saturday to visit his family.
Born in Franklin, Oct. 18, 1930, he was the son of J.F. and Margaret Hovis McGinnis.
A graduate of Clintonville High School and Grove City College, he retired from the Pennsylvania State Employees Retirement Center and also had worked at Polk Center.
He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church of Clintonville and was a past president of the Grace United Methodist Cemetery Association. He also was a past president of the Clintonville Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Meals-Hoffman Post 912 American Legion in Clintonville and a former member of the Clintonville Water and Sewer Authority.
During the Korean War, he served with the Army 3rd Infantry Division.
He enjoyed hunting and golfing.
Surviving are four children, Mrs. Timothy J. “Carol L.” Mickle of Holt, Mich., David F. McConnell of Mason, Mich., Daniel F. McConnell of East Bridgewater, Mass., and James R. McConnell of Mulliken, Mich.; and 11 grandchildren.
His wife, Marcia Parker McConnell, whom he married Aug 27, 1955, died Feb 28, 1974. A daughter also preceded him in death.

Clara Mae Kunselman
Clara Mae Kunselman, 85, of North Buffalo Township, Armstrong County, died Tuesday at her son’s home in Langhorne, Bucks County.
Born Dec. 20, 1916, in Lower Burrell, she was the daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth Baxter Hulton.
She was a member of the Slate Lick United Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Kunselman was a homemaker and had owned and operated Kunselman’s Esso Station and M.L. Kunselman Bus Co., both in South Buffalo Township, Armstrong County.
She enjoyed fishing, traveling, cooking and reading.
Surviving are two sons, Donald K. Kunselman of Fenelton and Michael J. Kunselman of Langhorne; a daughter, Mrs. James (Susan) Hutchison of Kittanning; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A brother, Joe Hulton of Lower Burrell, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm Kunselman; a brother; and a sister.
KUNSELMAN - Friends of Clara Mae Kunselman, who died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at F. DUANE SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 424 Bear St., Worthington. Wilma L. Knox
Wilma L. Knox, 72, of Callery died Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 30, 2002, at Evergreen Nursing Center, Harmony, after an illness.
Born in Butler, Jan. 11, 1930, she was the daughter of Hugo and Margaret Machin Zattiero.
She had been an apple packer at Treesdale Farms in Gibsonia for many years.
Mrs. Knox was a member of Callery Volunteer Fire Company’s Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Carl (Vickie) Riddle of Harmony, Mrs. Craig (Debbie) Davison of Evans City and Cheryl Knox of Callery; four sons, Clarence W. Knox Jr. of Forward Township, John R. and Randy D. Knox, both of Callery, and Richard C. Knox of West Sunbury; and six grandchildren.
Three brothers, Albert Zattiero of Gibsonia, Robert Zattiero of South Carolina and Butch Zattiero of Connoquenessing, and a sister, Mathilda Forsythe of Harmony, also survive.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence W. “Bub” Knox, who died May 11, 1986; and by a brother.
Private services were held this morning at McDONALD-AEBERLI FUNERAL HOME, Mars. The Rev. Rosalyn Kummer officiated. Burial was at Old Union Church Cemetery , Adams Township.
