Catherine U. “Katie” Voetsch, 88, of Butler died at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born Aug. 23, 1913, in Michigan, she served in the Army Nurse Corps in the Pacific Theater in World War II.
She earned the rank of major and received the Bronze Star.
She was a graduate of St. Margaret School of Nursing, Pittsburgh, and earned her master’s degree at Columbia University.
Ms. Voetsch reviewed mental health programs for Pennsylvania and was a retired director of nursing services, having worked at Butler Memorial Hospital and St. Margaret and Elmira Hospital in Elmira, N.Y.
She was a former board member of the YWCA, Mental Health and Foster Grandparents.
She was a member of St. Peters Episcopal Church in Butler.
VOETSCH - Friends of Catherine U. “Katie” Voetsch, who died Tuesday Jan. 8, 2002, will be received from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 127 W. Jefferson St. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. David Kinsey officiating. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va.
Valerie I. Stortenbecker
Valerie Ivie Stortenbecker, 81, of Springfield Township, Mercer County, died Monday at Grove Manor Nursing Home in Grove City after a long illness.
Born in Hastings, England, March 20, 1920, she was the daughter of Victor Ian Roystuart and Marguerite Emma Scotneider Roystuart.
She was a homemaker and a Protestant.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Marsha) Pflueger of Springfield Township; a son, Mark Stortenbecker of Chalfont, Bucks County; and a brother Victor Roystuart of Salisbury, Md.
Her husband, John Rimer Stortenbecker, died June 28, 1988. A grandson also preceded her in death.
STORTENBECKER - Friends of Valerie Ivie Stortenbecker, who died Monday, Jan. 7, 2002, will be received from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at DECKER FUNERAL HOME, 216 York Road, Warminster, Bucks County. Services will follow at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at White Marsh Memorial Park, Horsham, Montgomery County. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, Slippery Rock, is handling arrangements.
Pamela A. Rowe
Pamela A. Rowe, 40, of Bruin died at 6:35 p.m. Monday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born Feb. 26, 1961, in Butler, she was the daughter of Sally McCandless Criley and the late Donald Criley Sr.
She worked at Shop ‘N Save in Butler and was a 1979 graduate of Butler High School.
Mrs. Rowe was a member of the Faith Fellowship Alliance Church.
She enjoyed reading and knitting.
Surviving are her husband, Daniel E. Rowe, whom she married May 19, 1990; and two daughters, Jaclyn M. and Kali I. Rowe, both at home. Also surviving are her mother of Fenelton; five sisters, Mrs. Robert (Marsha) Brown of Chicora, Mrs. Chris (Darla) Pringle of Jacksonville, Fla., Mrs. Ralph (Sue) McKinney of Saxonburg, Ms. Rose Criley of Fenelton and Mrs. John (LouAnn) Swartzlander of Butler; a brother, Donald Criley Jr. of Chicora; and a number of nieces and nephews.
ROWE - There will be no public visitation. A memorial service for Pamela A. Rowe, who died Monday, Jan. 7, 2002, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Faith Fellowship Alliance Church with the Rev. Richard Jenks, church pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME.

F. Genevieve Miller
F. Genevieve Miller, 87, a lifelong resident of Meridian, died at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday at Concordia Lutheran Care Center, Cabot.
Born in Butler, Jan. 5, 1915, she was the daughter of J. Fred and Nora E. Bauer Miller.
She retired after 19 years as a secretary at St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Miss Miller was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in America and the Meridian Retirees.
She is survived by two brothers, Richard C. and Ralph F. Miller, both of Concordia Haven, Cabot; three nieces; and five nephews.
Two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.
MILLER - Friends of F. Genevieve Miller, who died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. Richard R. Hoolahan
Richard R. Hoolahan, 71, of Forest Heights Apartments, Butler Township, died at 10:50 a.m. Tuesday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born in Bellevue, Jan. 16, 1930, he was the son of Joseph and Catherine Tropf Hoolahan.
He was retired from Local 2 of the Asbestos Workers Union, Pittsburgh.
Mr. Hoolahan was a Catholic.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
He was an antique car show enthusiast.
Surviving are his companion, Edith Fennick; two sons, Thomas R. Hoolahan of Butler and David E. Hoolahan of Wilmington, N.C.; four grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; a brother, Paul Hoolahan of McCandless; and a sister, Mildred Reiff of Omaha, Neb.
A sister preceded him in death.
HOOLAHAN - Friends of Richard R. Hoolahan, who died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St. A blessing service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The Rev. Henry Preneta, pastor of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, will officiate. Burial will be at Allegheny County Memorial Park, Allison Park.

Roberta Mae Ketterer
Roberta Mae Ketterer, 84, of Seattle, Wash., formerly of New Castle and Butler, died Thursday at Overlake Hospital Medical Center, Bellevue, Wash.
Born Sept. 28, 1917, in Butler, she was the daughter of Arthur Polluck.
She was raised in Gibsonia and graduated from Gibsonia High School. She then attended Mrs. Pinkerton’s Secretarial School in Pittsburgh and had been a secretary at the Youth Development Center in New Castle and at the Oakdale Boys Home in Oakdale. She also was the church organist in New Castle and Meridian for 50 years.
Mrs. Ketterer was a member of the Congenial Club and the Eastern Star.
In 1994, she moved to the Seattle area to be near her family.
She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and knitting afghans and sweaters.
Surviving are three sons, George A. Ketterer, of Philadelphia, John R. Ketterer of Longview, Wash., and David W. Ketterer, of Vancouver, Wash.; a daughter, Patricia A. Hines, of Sammamish, Wash.; a sister Ruth Easter of Prudenville, Mich.; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
KETTERER - Services for Roberta Mae Ketterer, who died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, will be held at 11 a.m. Jan. 18 at Mount Harmon Presbyterian Church, Frew Mill Road, New Castle. Private internment will be held at Allegheny County Memorial Park, Allison Park. Arrangements are by FLINTOFTS FUNERAL HOME, Issaquah, Wash.
Flowers may be sent the memorial ceremony or donations may be made to the National Cancer Society.
David R. Clark
David Randall Clark, 73, formerly of Butler, died at 7 a.m. Monday at his home in Lakeland, Fla., following an illness.
Born March 12, 1928, in Clarion County, he was the son of John and Greta Clark.
He was an electrician and a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 10, Butler.
He enjoyed spending summers at his hunting camp outside Corsica, Jefferson County, and was a member of the Clarion County Campers.
He is survived by his wife, Roxie M. Rush Clark, whom he married Feb. 24, 1950; a daughter, Randa Clark of Butler; and a brother, Gary Clark of Hilliards.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
Arrangements and burial are private.

W. Joyce Boyle
W. Joyce Boyle, 74, of Grayrigg Drive died at 7:45 p.m. Monday at St. John Specialty Care Center in Mars, following an illness.
Born Sept. 7, 1927, in Karns City, she was the daughter of Ralph D. and Irene Elmira Fox Burkhard.
She was a 1944 graduate of Karns City High School and retired in 1989 from Culligan Water Conditioning in Butler, where she was a receptionist.
Mrs. Boyle was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chicora Chapter 354, where she served as a worthy matron. She was also active in the Associated Artists of Butler County.
She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Butler, where she was organist for 30 years.
She is survived by her husband, Dale S. Boyle, whom she married Feb. 14, 1996; three sons, K. Michael Ellenberger of Butler, R. David Ellenberger of Chicora and John L. Ellenberger of Donora; and five grandchildren.
Her previous husband, John C. Gray, whom she married Jan. 5, 1985, died Aug. 22, 1994.
BOYLE - Friends of W. Joyce Boyle, who died Monday, Jan. 7, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at RICHARD D. HILLIS FUNERAL HOME, 102 Argyle St., Petrolia, and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Butler. Services will be at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Mamie L. Dyke
Mamie L. Dyke, 89, of Zelienople died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2002, at Sunnyview Nursing Home.
Born Jan. 1, 1913, in Marlington, W.Va., she was the daughter of Divers and Mollie Sharp.
Mrs. Dyke was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.
She is survived by four daughters, Mary Weber of Butler, Virginia Watt of Evans City, Betty Kelly of Corry, Erie County, and Dorothy Schadick of Beaver Falls; and three sons, Kenneth Burgess of Ellwood City and Richard and Chester Kohler, both of Beaver Falls. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husband, Frederick E. Dyke, who died 1974; a daughter; a son; a sister; and six brothers.
Private burial will be at Zelienople Cemetery .

Ryan Michael Chute
Ryan Michael Chute, 15-month-old son of Norman T. and Michele L. Zoldak Chute of Jackson Township, died Wednesday at his home.
He was born Oct. 6, 2000, in Jackson Township.
He was a member of St. Gregory Roman Catholic Church, Zelienople.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandmother, Ida Zoldak of Cokeburg, Washington County.
Private funeral services and burial were today.
