Baggia M. Srinivasan, age 90, of Wildwood Drive, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at 4:55 a.m. at his residence.
Born June 11, 1917 in Vellore, India he was the son of the late A. Baggia Mudaliar and the late Loganayaki Ammal.
Mr. Srinivasan was president of Ratnam Press, an Indian-based printing company. After joining his family in the United States in 1980, he became office manager of Sekaran Associates medical practice, retiring in 1995.
He was a member of the Free Masons in Chennai, India.
In 1997, he founded the Sarasvathy Srinivasan Trust, a charitable foundation dedicated to the education of the underprivileged.
Mr. Srinivasan is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Kamalesh K. and Somasundaram Sekaran of Butler, Pennsylvania; two grandsons, Anand Sekaran, and S. Vijay Sekaran; one granddaughter, Sumitra Sekaran Kilambi; one great-granddaughter, Sandhya Lilambi; and his brother, B. Madhavan.
Mr. Srinivasan was preceded in death by his wife, Sarasvathy Srinivasan whom he marriage on August 28, 1939 and who passed away on January 1, 1997. He was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Friday December 21, 2007 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Ralph Leroy (Ralphie) Shrum
July 1, 1953 - January 18, 2008
Ralph Leroy (Ralphie) Shrum, age 54, of North Main Street, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Friday, January 18, 2008 at 12:31 a.m. in the Sunnyview Home, Butler.
Born July 1, 1953 in Indiana, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Wilbert Lewis and Helen Frances Lear Shrum.
Mr. Shrum was a graduate of Freeport Area High School. He attended Butler Wesleyan Methodist Church. He was a cook for many different eateries throughout Butler County until he retired, due to a disability.
Mr. Shrum is survived by five sisters, Mrs. Steve (Martha) Kemp of Cypress, California, Mrs. Janet Seevers of Missoula, Montana, Bernice Shrum of Phoenix, Arizona, Mrs. Richard (Linda) Craig of Mercer, Pennsylvania, and Mrs. Frank (Rita) McClintic of Morristown, Indiana; and by two nieces and seven nephews, several great nieces and nephews.
Mr. Shrum was preceded in death by his brother, Wilbert Shrum, Jr. and his sister Sarah Buterbaugh and by a nephew.
Friends will be received at the Butler Wesleyan Methodist Church, 590 Protzman Road, Butler, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, January 22, 2008 from 4 to 6 p.m.
Services will be held at the Butler Wesleyan Methodist Church on Tuesday, January 22, 2008 following visitation at 6:00 p.m. with Reverend Russell Dunn officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery, Indiana, Pennsylvania.
Liam James Mazurek
January 17, 2008 - January 19, 2008
Liam's short life ended in the arms of his loving parents on Saturday at Children's Hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born Jan. 17, 2008, to Nichole and William "Bill" Mazurek, and will be forever missed by his sister, Samantha Mazurek; and his grandparents, Larry and Laurel Colonello, Carol Mazurek and the late William Mazurek. He also is survived by a fun and loving family of many aunts, uncles and cousins.
In lieu of flowers for Liam James Mazurek, who died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008, please say a kind word to someone or hug a child.

David B. "Skip" Swisher
November 13, 1934 - January 17, 2008
David B. "Skip" Swisher, age 73, of Butler, Penn Twp., Pennsylvania, died Thursday, January 17, 2008 at 11:17 a.m. in the Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born November 13, 1934 in Portsmith, Ohio, he was the son of the late Joseph Swisher and the late Avonel Guilkey.
Mr. Swisher was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
He was retired as an electronic engineer for Butler Armco for thirty one years . He was a member of Beaver Lawrence Railroad Historical Society. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
Mr. Swisher is survived by his wife, Nancy Fisher Swisher, whom he marriage on August 13, 1960, one son, Scott Swisher of Middletown, Maryland; one sister, Mary Jo Kjos of Seattle, Washington.
Friends will be received at the First United Methodist Church, 200 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Monday, January 21, 2008 from 1 to 3 p.m.
Memorial services will be held at the First United Methodist Church on Monday, January 21, 2008 following visitation at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend William Gumpper of First United Methodist Church, officiating.

Gillian Blair Cosgrove Scanlon
April 24, 1985 - January 13, 2008
Gillian Blair Cosgrove Scanlon, age 22, of West Sunbury, Pennsylvania, died Sunday, January 13, 2008 from injuries sustained due to a homicide in Miami, Florida.
Born in Butler, Pennsylvania on April 24, 1985, she was the daughter of Paul and Judy Scanlon.
She attended Montessori School in Butler, Pennsylvania and graduated from Butler High School in 2003. Following high school, Gillie attended Slippery Rock University and Warren Wilson College in Asheville, North Carolina, where she studied religious philosophy.
A joy to be around and a brilliant artist, she loved her family and friends, music, concerts, reading, writing, poetry, art, pets and traveling.
Queen of lost souls, she opened her heart unconditionally to anyone in need, be it a fellow human being or a stray dog. She was a free spirit who loved life and lived it to the fullest. She will be missed dearly by all whose paths crossed hers.

She is survived by her brother, Spencer Keasey Scanlon; her parents Paul and Judy Scanlon; her maternal grandmother, Marian Nelson Tritsch of Butler, Pennsylvania and her paternal grandfather, John W. Scanlon of Emmaus, Pennsylvania. She is also survived by many aunts and uncles, Mr. and Mrs. John M. (Susan) Scanlon, Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. Scanlon (Bonnie Gadless), Dr. and Mrs. Andrew Pollock (Patti Scanlon), Mr.and Mrs. Edward (Janet) Scanlon, John Graham, Mr. and Mrs. Eric Millerschoen (Virginia), Mr. and Mrs. George Bello (Elizabeth), Mr. and Mrs. Edward Neill (Patti), and Mr. and Mrs. Greg Gallagher (Cheri) and by numerous cousins.

Dr. Edwin Hasson

Dr. Edwin Hasson, age 82 of Westwood Manor, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Wednesday, January 16, 2008 in the Grove Manor Nursing Home, Grove City.
Born August 17, 1925 in Irvona, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Joseph Hasson and the late Anna Malin.
Dr. Hasson was a retired school administrator for Butler Area School District. He was a member of Christ Community United Methodist Church. Dr. Hasson served with the 82nd Airborne Infantry Division during WW II. He earned his B.S. degree from Lock Haven University (formerly Lock Haven State Teachers College) and his Doctorate degree from Penn State University. Dr. Hasson was past president of the Butler Area School Board, a member of the MORA club, the Butler Planning Commission, the Golden Tornado Foundation, and the Butler County Vo-Tech.
Dr. Hasson is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Bobby (Kara S.) Maxwell of Volant, Pennsylvania; two granddaughters, Brittany C. Schmidt, and Kelli S. Maxwell; and by a number of nieces and nephews.
Dr. Hasson was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes M. Feigh Hasson whom he marriage on May 25, 1947 and who passed away on September 18, 2007. He was also preceded in death by three brothers.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Friday, January 18, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Saturday, January 19, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Pamela Gardner of Slippery Rock United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
