Catherine E. "Kay" Sampson, age 70 of Evergreen Nursing Home, Harmony, Pennsylvania, died Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at 4:05 p.m. in the Evergreen Nursing Center.
Born August 31, 1937 in Butler, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late Edgar H. Butler and the late Ann D. Munro Butler.
Catherine was a registered nurse for Butler Memorial Hospital and the North Miami General Hospital. She was Presbyterian by faith. Catherine was a member of the B.M.H. Nurses Alumni Association and a graduate of the University of Southern Florida, earning her MBA in nursing. She was an avid Steeler fan.
Catherine is survived by her brother, Grant M. Butler of Florida; two sisters, Amelia "Minnie" Butler Vogel, and Mary "Jody" Butler Johnston both of Butler, Pennsylvania; three nieces and eight nephews, twelve great nieces and three great nephews, one great-great nieces and one great-great nephews.
Catherine was preceded in death by one brother, Eddie H. Butler and one sister, Loveina Butler.
A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are being handled by the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania.
Linda L. Pearce
May 26, 1947 - February 10, 2008
Linda L. Pearce, age 60 of Butler, Pennsylvania, died suddenly Sunday, February 10, 2008 at 1:44 p.m. in the Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born May 26, 1947 in Butler, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late Joseph A. Pearce and the late Doris A. Shook Pearce.
Linda was a member of North Main Street Church of God. She was a member of the VFW Post 249 Ladies Auxiliary and the Duck Pin Bowling League. Linda enjoyed working with her flowers, dining out and traveling. She was very caring and loving to all she met.
Linda is survived by her companion of 17 years, Edward Dankmer of Butler, Pennsylvania; brother, Gary D. Pearce of Butler, Pennsylvania; sister, Sandra K. Pearce-Mato and her husband Larry Mato of Butler, Pennsylvania; two step-children, Brent Dankmer of Brentwood, West Virginia, Melinda Robson of Moundsville, West Virginia; three step-grandchildren, Blaise, Zabrya and Zade, two dogs, Cookie and Abbey, who were the center of Linda's life. She is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, February 12, 2008 from 7 to 9 p.m. and also on Wednesday, February 13, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Thursday, February 14, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Kenneth C. Hall, visitation pastor of North Main Street Church Of God officiating. Interment will follow in West Sunbury Union Cemetery.

Marian L. Garber
April 29, 1922 - February 25, 2008
Marian L. Garber, age 85 of Tallant Road, Santa Barbara, California, died Monday, February 25, 2008 at 3:45 p.m. in the Samarcan Retirement Village.
Born Saturday, April 29, 1922 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late Herman Langsner and the late Rose Sheingold Langsner.
Mrs. Garber was a homemaker. She was a life member of Hadassah.
Mrs. Garber is survived by four sons, Larry Garber of Gibsonia, Pennsylvania, Harvey Garber of Cathedral City, California, Dr. David Garber of Ojai, California, Robert Garber of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Garber was preceded in death by her husband, Saul Bookie Garber whom she marriage on August 11, 1946 and who passed away on December 19, 1975.
Graveside Services will be held at the B'Nai Abraham Cemetery on Friday, February 29, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. with Rabbi Art Donsky of Temple Ohav Shalom officiating.

George Franklin Horne
July 15, 1921 - February 27, 2008
George Franklin Horne, age 86 of Dolphin Drive, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at 1:35 p.m. in the Good Samaritan Hospice Unit at Concordia in Cabot, Pennsylvania.
Born July 15, 1921 in Dubois, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Samuel Berton and Grace Lane Horne.
Mr. Horne was a member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Mr. Horne was a machinist for Armco Steel, now known as AK Steel. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving WWII. He was a member of #694 Victory Lodge F and AM, the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of New Castle, the Butler Shrine Luncheon Club, the Syria Temple of Pittsburgh, and Caravan 14 of Butler. He also was a member of the Cubs Athletic Association and Chisels and Chips Wood Carving Club in Pittsburgh.
Mr. Horne is survived by his wife, Florence (Heaton) Horne, whom he marriage on August 14, 1941; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Barbara) Snider of Butler, Pennsylvania and Mrs. Craig (Jane) Murphy of Alliance, Ohio; two sons, Dr. Thomas F. Horne of New Windsor, New York and William G. Horne of Butler, Pennsylvania; eleven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren: one sister, Mrs. Elaine Barnett of Cleveland, Ohio; one brother, Robert J. Horne of Albany, New York and by a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Horne was preceded in death by one sister.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Friday, February 29, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Saturday, March 1, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Dr. Alden Towberman of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Burial Estates.

Glenn T. Stewart
November 8, 1905 - March 26, 2008
Glenn T. Stewart, age 102, of Concordia Haven at Cabot went home to be with the Lord on March 26, 2008.
He was born in Jackson Center, Mercer County on November 8, 1905.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emma E. Edge and John A. Stewart; his wife of 65 years, Erma Bachman Stewart, who died in December 1998; his son, Thomas G. Stewart, who died in October 2007; and brother, Dr. Howard S. Stewart who passed away in October 2000.
He lived in Tarentum for several years, Jefferson Center for 38 years, and Piper Village in Butler for 16 years. He resided at Concordia Haven since 1996, and was known for planting hundreds of flowers on the grounds. He was associated with Alpha Gasoline and Oil Company from 1929 when he started in Creighton. He later transferred to the service station in Natrona Heights and then to the Tarentum station in 1932. After attending Butler Business College, he became a partner-manager of Alpha Service Store from its opening in 1945 until its closing in 1968. Shortly after it's closing, he became assistant-manager for Associated Hardware Supply in Lower Burrell's Hillcrest Shopping Center until his retirement in 1974. He was a member of the Jefferson Center Presbyterian Church since 1935. He served as Treasurer for 18 years and also as Trustee and Elder. He was a member of the Victory Lodge 69 years and of Valley of New Castle Scottish Rite, Syria Shrine. He was Secretary-Treasurer of the Board of Directors for Saxonburg Heat and Light for many years.
He will be missed by his many friends at Concordia Haven, as well as his long-time friends from his church. He is survived by his grandson, Neil Stewart of Switzerland County, Indiana; and granddaughter, Laura Stewart of Nashville, Tennessee, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be from at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home in Butler on Friday, March 28, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held at the Jefferson Center Presbyterian Church at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2008, with Reverend Jean Henderson, retired minister from Jefferson Center Presbyterian Church and Reverend Robert McCrumb, current minister at the church officiating. Burial will be at the Saxonburg Memorial Cemetery.
Camden Ellenberger
April 16, 1921 - March 25, 2008
Camden Ellenberger, age 86 of Cypress Street, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at 9:40 p.m. in the Sunnyview Home.
Born April 16, 1921 in Chicora, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Camden Ellenberger and the late Anna Elizabeth Jacobs Ellenberger.
Mr. Ellenberger worked as a service technician for several different car dealerships beginning in 1943 including Dick Glenn's and for Baglier Buick, retiring in 1984. He was a member of First English Lutheran Church. Mr. Ellenberger was a graduate of Butler High School, class of 1943. He loved antique cars.
Mr. Ellenberger is survived by three half-brothers, Charles Ellenberger of Butler, Pennsylvania, Raymond Ellenberger of Chicora, Pennsylvania, Robert Ellenberger; and by several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Ellenberger was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude Pierce Ellenberger who passed away on June 15, 1998 and also by two brothers and one sister.
Private visitation and service will be held at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania.
Interment will be in Butler County Memorial Park.
