Margaret J. Champagne, age 75, of Highpoint, North Carolina, died Wednesday, June 15, 2005 at Highpoint Regional Hospital in Highpoint, North Carolina.
Born April 9, 1930 in Sewickley, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of Isaac Morrow and Eleanor Kurtz Morrow.
Mrs. Champagne was a graduate of Sewickley High School and attended business college following her graduation. She retired as an accountant. She was a member of the Sewickley Heights Methodist Church in Sewickley, Pennsylvania.
Mrs. Champagne is survived by two sons, Jeff Barnes of Cross City, Florida and Donald Barnes of Franklin, Tennessee; one daughter, Sandra Steighner of Highpoint, North Carolina; and by thirteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Sunday, June 19, 2005 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Monday, June 20, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Robert C. Huber, pastor of North Street Christian Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Gruenwald Cemetery.
Vincent Michael Puente
October 13, 1921 - June 15, 2005
Vincent Michael Puente, age 83 of New Haven Lane, formerly of Southampton, Pennsylvania, passed away on Wednesday June 15, 2005 in New Haven Court, Butler, Pennsylvania.
Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on October 13, 1921, he was the son of the late Narciso Puente and Manuella Miguel Puente. Mr. Puente grew up and was raised in Manhattan, New York.
Mr. Puente competed on the championship level fencing teams both in high school and while attending Columbia University and at one point qualified for the Olympic trials. His interest in fencing and pride in his accomplishments were something that he carried through the rest of his life. He was a 1943 graduate of Columbia University in New York with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology. He graduated in 1950 from The Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn with a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering. In 1959 he received his Masters of Divinity from the New Brunswick Theological Seminary. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. For the final fifteen years of Mr. Puente's working career he was employed by The Pennsylvania Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation as a rehabilitation counselor until his retirement. He was a member of Hill United Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Puente was marriage to Phyllis Hamill Puente on September 17, 1949, they were marriage for over fifty years, she preceded him in death on August 6, 2000.
Mr. Puente is survived by one daughter, Maryanne Puente and her husband Tim Moses of Butler, Pennsylvania, two grandchildren, Nathan Moses and Cara Moses, two nephews and one Niece. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one brother.
Friends and family will be received at The Thompson-Miller Funeral Home Inc., 124 East North Street. Butler, Pennsylvania on Friday, June 17, 2005 from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday, June 18, 2005 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Funeral services will follow at the funeral home at 1:00 p.m. with The Reverend John Porter of Hill United Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will follow in the North Side Cemetery.

Marjorie M. Fonson

Marjorie M. Fonson, age 96 of Saxony Health Center, Saxonburg, Pennsylvania, formerly of Wallula Avenue, Butler, Pennsylvania died Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at 8:35 a.m. at the Saxony Health Center.
Born August 8, 1908 in West Sunbury, Pennsylvania she was the daughter Calvin A. Hockenberry and Mary Jane Myers Hockenberry.
Mrs. Fonson was a homemaker. She was a member of Saint Andrew's United Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Fonson is survived by two daughters, Phyllis Lane of Butler, Pennsylvania, and Beverly Shelenberger of New Wilmington, Pennsylvania; five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, one sister, Betty Forbes of Boyers, Pennsylvania and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Fonson was preceded in death by her husband, Paul C. Fonson, who was deceased August 24, 1971 and by five brothers and three sisters.

Ethel R. Brookhart
June 25, 1920 - June 13, 2005
Ethel R. Brookhart, age 84 of Mack Road, West Sunbury, Pennsylvania, formerly of Alameda Road, Butler, Pennsylvania died Monday, June 13, 2005 at 11:13 a.m. at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born June 25, 1920 in Butler, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of Samuel and Florence Burns Castilyn.
Mrs. Brookhart was a homemaker; and in her earlier years, she was a registered nurse at the Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center. During World War II, she was a first lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corps and served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. She was awarded the Bronze Star. Mrs. Brookhart was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church. She enjoyed playing golf, bridge and being with her children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Brookhart is survived by two daughters, Penny Chapman and Robert Wolford of West Sunbury, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Michael (Amy) Reilly of Westboro, Massachusetts; a son, Todd E. Brookhart and his wife, Bonnie of Walnut Creek, California; eight grandchildren, Heather and Chad Ford, Matthew, Kelly and Jennifer Reilly and Lauren, Carolyn and Dashiell Brookhart and a number of nieces and nephews also survive her.
Mrs. Brookhart was preceded in death by her husband, George F. Brookhart, Jr. who was deceased August 6, 1994 and by her daughter, Debra Brookhart.

Ray L. Adkins
June 26, 1922 - June 13, 2005
Ray Leslie Adkins, age 82 of Claytonia Road, Clay Twp. Butler, Pennsylvania, died on Monday, June 13, 2005 at 4:30 p.m. in the Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born June 26, 1922 in Cambridge City, Indiana he was the son of the late Cecil and Anna Adkins.
He was a 1953 graduate of Purdue University with a degree in Civil Engineering. Mr. Adkins was a retired Civil Engineer for Chapin & Chapin, Inc., Norwalk, Ohio. During his employment their, he owned and operated the Kozy Korner Store in Butler until 1981. He was a member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was a member of Hagerstown Lodge# 49 F & A.M. Mr. Adkins was also a veteran of the United States Army serving as a staff sergeant in the headquarter battery of the 920th Field Artillery Battalion serving in the European theater and was a recipient of a Bronze Star.
Mr. Adkins is survived by his wife, Allene G. Elliott Adkins who he marriage on October 20, 1945, by two daughters, Mrs. Randy (Linda) Meinert of West Sunbury, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Willis (Kay) Kort of Butler, Pennsylvania; a grand-daughter, Mrs. George (Vanessa) Snyder of West Sunbury, Pennsylvania who he raised as a daughter; by six other grandchildren Amanda Meinert, Chad Kort, Ashley Kort, Christopher Hankins, Scott Shea, and Eric Shea, by six great-grandchildren, Shayla Snyder, Krista Snyder, Nicholas Snyder, Brittany Hankins, Tiffany Hankins, and Julian Shea, by two brothers, Charles Adkins and George Adkins both of Hagerstown, Indiana and also by numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Adkins was preceded in death by his daughter Bonnie.

Ethel L. Andrews Rule Boozel
February 2, 1909 - June 12, 2005
Ethel Louise Andrews Rule Boozel, age 96 of died Sunday, June 12, 2005 at 11:35 p.m. in the Saxony Health Center, Saxonburg, Pennsylvania.
Born February 2, 1909 in Jefferson Center, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late Alva C. Andrews and the late Annetta Schroth.
Mrs. Boozel was a cafeteria worker for Jefferson Township School for ten years. She was a member of Summit United Presbyterian Church. She was a life member of the Dames of Malta, Maqueda Chapter #421 of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Mrs. Boozel is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Paul (Dorothy) Steighner of Butler, Pennsylvania; three grandchildren, Dan Steighner, Bob Steighner, Kim Steighner; five great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and by a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Boozel was preceded in death by her first husband, George W. Rule who passed away on August 11, 1958, by her second husband, Dwight G. Boozel, who passed away on February 7, 1991, and also by two brothers and one sister.
