James C. Clements, age 61, of Creek Drive, Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania died Friday, August 19, 2005 in the Emergency Room at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born in Butler, Pennsylvania on June 22, 1944 he was the son of the late Samuel C. Clements and Alice Smith Clements.
He had been an English teacher in the Butler School system for 30 years and had previously taught English at Brentwood High School. Mr. Clements had also run a branch office of Ralph A. Nicholas Real Estate in Slippery Rock, and had served as co-manager at the Plaza Theatre in Butler for a period of ten years.
Mr. Clements graduated from Butler Area High School and obtained a B.A. degree in English at Thiel College. He received a master's degree from the University of Pittsburgh.
He was a member of the Highland Presbyterian Church of Slippery Rock and served as a trustee and on session. He was affiliated with the state and local branches of the National Education Association and a member of the Butler County Historical Society and the National Council of Teachers of English. Mr. Clements was also a member and past president of the Slippery Rock Park Civic Association. In recent years he had been active in the Sigma Phi Epsilon Alumni Association at Thiel College. Mr. Clements served in numerous positions in this organization and had recently been voted the recipient of its Outstanding Alumni Award. He was a past member and officer in the Butler Area Jaycees and had served in the National Teacher Corps.
He was the catalyst and editor of three books written by his senior high school English classes. Builders Dreamers Scandals Schemer and Favorite Sons and Sons of Guns concerned historical incidents in Butler County. The third book Silent Heroes Among Us recounted the exploits of members of the 8th Air Force during WW II. For this creation he received the National Freedoms Foundation Award. In 1999 he co-authored Lost Butler with his father-in-law, the late William Robert Brandberg.
Mr. Clements is survived by his wife, Charlotte Brandberg Clements, daughter, Darla Ann Moore of Charlotte, North Carolina, a son, William Clements of Boulder, Colorado and a brother Kaye E. Clements of Rockville, Maryland.
Family and friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania 16001 on Monday, August 22, 2005 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and also at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 23, 2005.
Services will be held at the Highland Presbyterian Church, 310 Franklin Street, Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania 16057 on Tuesday, August 23, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Rusty Stuart officiating.
Interment will be in Slippery Rock Cemetery, Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania.

James S. Quinn
January 4, 1934 - August 18, 2005
James S. Quinn, age 71 of Bear Creek Road, Sarver, Pennsylvania, died Thursday, August 18, 2005 at 2:10 p.m. in West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Born January 4, 1934 in Plymouth, Wisconsin he was the son of the late LeRoy Quinn and the late Irene Behrend.
Mr. Quinn was a retired elementary school principal for Buffalo Elementary School. He was a member of Community Alliance Church. Mr. Quinn had been the voice of F Y F Freeport Youth Football Mini Jackets Football League, Freeport School District Athletic Director, board member of the Freeport International Baseball Invitational and a board member of Armstrong County Sports Hall of Fame. He was an Elder in his church and a member of the choir and drama team. Mr. Quinn was also a member of the Southernaires, a southern gospel quartet. He was an avid hunter and a member of PSEA and NEA Education Associations. Mr. Quinn was also a member of Pennsylvania State Athletic Association and the Who's who in American Education.
Mr. Quinn is survived by his wife, Eileen A. Quinn and whom he marriage on June 27, 1958, four daughters, Mrs. Carl (Gaylene) Massart of Sarver, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Lynn (Juli) Ort of Lowell, Michigan, Mrs. Gary (Cheri) Rider of South Lyons, Michigan, Mrs. Jeffrey (Heather) Hair of Douglasville, Pennsylvania; nine grandchildren, and two nieces and two nephews.
Mr. Quinn was preceded in death by two sisters.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday, August 20, 2005 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday, August 21, 2005 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the Community Alliance Church on Monday, August 22, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Dennis Krajacic officiating. Interment will follow in North Union Cemetery.

Barry T. "Tubby" Fleeger
August 25, 1958 - August 15, 2005
Barry T. "Tubby" Fleeger, age 46 of Swamp Run Road, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Monday, August 15, 2005 at 1:15 p.m. in the Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born August 25, 1958 in Butler, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Lee Allen Fleeger and the Joanne Marie Fisher Fleeger.
Mr. Fleeger attended Unionville United Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and golf. He loved sports especially football. He was an alumni of Butler High school class of 1977.
Mr. Fleeger is survived by his mother, Joanne Fleeger of Butler, Pennsylvania; four brothers, Terry Fleeger of Butler, Pennsylvania, Ron Fleeger of Dubois, Pennsylvania, Doug Fleeger of Butler, Pennsylvania, Allan Fleeger of Houston, Texas; two nieces and four nephews.
Mr. Fleeger was preceded in death by his father.
There will be no public visitation and a private funeral service will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Burial Estates.

Franklin E. Crawford
November 26, 1934 - August 14, 2005
Franklin E. Crawford, age 70 of Virginia Avenue, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Sunday, August 14, 2005 at 2:15 p.m. in the Butler VA Medical Center.
Born November 26, 1934 in Butler, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Thomas A. Crawford and the late Helen Schrobel.
Mr. Crawford was a retired painter for Butler Veterans Administration Medical Center. He was protestant by faith. Mr. Crawford was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and Korean War. He was past president of the General Butler Vagabonds Auxiliary. He was a member of the Moose Lodge #64, Masonic Lodge #272 F & AM, A.A.S.R. Valley of New Castle, and V.F.W. Post #249, Butler.
Mr. Crawford is survived by his wife, Helen Lowry Crawford whom he marriage on May 12, 1956, by one son, Robert T. Crawford of Connoquenessing, Pennsylvania; one daughter, Susan Crede of Butler, Pennsylvania; three grandchildren, four sisters, Marie Miller, Betty Cipolla, Joan Fend all of Butler, Pennsylvania, Joyce Norman of Tampa, Florida and by a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Crawford was preceded in death by one brother.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, August 16, 2005 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Wednesday, August 17, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Henry B. Hall, Jr., chief of chaplains at the VA Medical Center officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Burial Estates.
Officers and members of the Masonic Lodge #272 will meet Tuesday at 6:45 p.m. at the funeral home to conduct a memorial service. Military Honors will be conducted at Greenlawn Burial Estates by V.F.W. Post #249.
Michael Dennis Cavanaugh
April 27, 1950 - August 12, 2005
Michael Dennis Cavanaugh, age 55 of Cocoa, Florida, formerly of Butler, Pennsylvania passed away suddenly at the Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Florida on August 12, 2005.
Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on April 27, 1950, he was the son of the late Joseph Cavanaugh and Lucille Bridges Cavanaugh.
Mr. Cavanaugh was raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and moved to Cocoa, Florida five years ago. He was employed with the Ironworkers Local Union #3 in Pittsburgh for fifteen years and has been employed with Siemens-Westinghouse for the past twenty-three years as an engineer and a project management professional.
Mr. Cavanaugh was a member of the Cocoa Moose Lodge # 1717, where he was an active member in their pool league. He also had a passion for rebuilding classic cars, and cooking for friends and family.
Mr. Cavanaugh is survived by his loving wife of thirty-eight years, Patricia Murphy Cavanaugh, by one son, Patrick Cavanaugh of Grove City, Pennsylvania, two daughters: Mrs. Gregory (Erin) Barto of Butler, Pennsylvania and Meagan Cavanaugh of Cocoa, Florida, six grandchildren, and by one brother, Joseph Cavanaugh of Arlington, Virginia.
He was preceded in death by one sister: Shirley McCarthy of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Friends and family of Michael Cavanaugh will be received at The Thompson-Miller Funeral Home Inc. on Wednesday, August 17, 2005 from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Thursday, August 18, 2005 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A Blessing Services will be held on Friday, August 19, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Reverend Father Harry R. Bielewicz of St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church, Butler, Pennsylvania officiating.
Margaret L. Petsinger
November 22, 1923 - August 12, 2005
Margaret L. Petsinger, age 81 of Fosnight Personal Care Home, Valencia, Pennsylvania, died Friday, August 12, 2005 at 4:45 p.m. in the Passavant Retirement Center.
Born November 22, 1923 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late Walter L. Mock and the late Lauren Simmon.
Mrs. Petsinger was a homemaker. She was a member of Memorial Park Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Petsinger was a member of P.E.O. Sisterhood, Ikabana, Pittsburgh Garden Center, Bonsai Society and the Rock Garden Society. Her interest were holistic medicine, gardening, art, cooking, flower arranging and traveling.
Mrs. Petsinger is survived by one son, Douglas E. Petsinger of Decatur, Georgia; one grandson, Steven D. Petsinger of Decatur, Georgia; brother, Walter L. Mock, Jr. of Montoursville, Pennsylvania; and by three nieces and six nephews.
Mrs. Petsinger was preceded in death by her husband, Harry M. Petsinger, Jr. who passed away on February 24, 2004.
There will be no public visitation.
Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Wednesday, August 17, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Dr. John Hollingsworth officiating. Interment will be private.
