Joseph F. Oswald, 81 of McQuistion Road, Butler, died Tuesday, May 4, 2004 at 11:15 A.M. in the emergency room of Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born March 21, 1923 in Oakland Township, Butler County, he was the son of Eugene Oswald and Agatha Clouse.
Mr. Oswald was a retired bridge, ornamental and structural iron worker for Union Local #3, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He formerly operated Oswald Antenna Service. He was a member of First United Methodist. Veteran of U. S. Army Air Corp. he served with the Army Corp of Engineers serving during WW II. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 249 and American Legion Post 117.
Mr. Oswald is survived by his wife, Barbara J. Polliard Oswald, whom he marriage on September 4, 1948 by one daughter, Mrs. Edward (Dianna J.) Sroka of Butler, Pennsylvania, two grandsons, one brother, Gerald Oswald of Ellwood City, Pennsylvania, two sisters, Mrs. George (Elizabeth) Gullion of Phoenix, Arizonia, Pauline I. Oswald of Butler, Pennsylvania, and by a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Oswald is preceded in death by a daughter, a sister and two brothers.
Friends will be received at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, PA, on Thursday, May 6, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., Friday, May 7, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. with the Reverend J. David Panther officiating. Interment will follow in Chapel of Devotion Mausoleum.

Betty C. Kuminkoski
June 26, 1923 - May 2, 2004
Betty C. Kuminkoski, 80 of Township Line Road, Butler, died Sunday, May 2, 2004 at 8:00 p.m. at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born June 26, 1923 in Butler, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of James E. Dietrich and Dora Alma Brown.
Mrs. Kuminkoski was a homemaker and nursing assistant for VA Medical Center. She was a member of Oak Hills Christian Church. Mrs. Kuminkoski was a member of the A. A. R. P. and of the Colonial Williamsburg Founders Association. She also was an Elder Emeritus of her church and was in the church choir for many years.
Mrs. Kuminkoski is survived by two sons, Herman (Buzz) Kuminkoski, Jr. of Viera, Florida, James A. Kuminkoski of Butler, Pennsylvania, one daughter, Ardella L. Sincock of Alta Loma, California, ten grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, three sisters, Lavonne (Bonnie) Olen, Dolores Jeanne Halahurich, Donna Joanne Dietrich all of Butler, Pennsylvania, and by a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Kuminkoski was preceded in death by her husband Herman S. Kuminkoski, Sr., who passed away on May 2, 2002 and by one grandson.
Friends will be received at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, PA, on Wednesday, May 5th and Thursday, May 6th, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the Oak Hills Christian Church, Friday, May 7, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Phillip Conyers, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

Phyllis J. Hilliard
June 13, 1929 - April 30, 2004
Phyllis J. Hilliard, 74 of Butler, died Friday, April 30, 2004 around 3:00 a.m. at her residence due to a house fire.
Born June 13, 1929 in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Arthur E. Kaylor and Edith Burkett.
Mrs. Hilliard was a 1950 graduate of Montefiore Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She was employed as a registered nurse and she worked for United Community Hospital in Grove City, Pennsylvania. Then, she worked for Hospice Services Visiting Nurses Association in Butler, Pennsylvania and she retired in 1989.
Surviving are husband, Berdell Hilliard whom she marriage August 9, 1985, two daughters, Shelby J. McCandless of Slippery Rock and, Sandra G. Cashdollar of Darlington, two sons, Robert E. Cashdollar, Jr. of Tucson, Arizona and Todd A. Cashdollar of Butler, eight grandchildren, Jason D. McCandless, Heather M. Lowe, Dennis L. Miller, Jr, Margo J. Miller, Brigett Cashdollar, Gabrielle Cashdollar, Amanda Cashdollar and Courtney Cashdollar, two great grandchildren, Jacob D. McCandless and Gabriel J. McCandless, three step-children, William L. Hilliard of Erie, Ida McClure of Mars, and Berdell Hilliard of Butler, a number of step-grandchildren and great step-grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Lois J. Cairns of Greensburg, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., Wednesday May 5, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Dennis Krajacic from Community Alliance Church officiating. Interment will follow in Butler County Memorial Park.

Anthony (Tony) Lewis Snow, 29 of Butler, died suddenly Friday, April 30, 2004 before his arrival at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born August 1, 1973 in Parker, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Leroy Snow and Jane Geibel.
Mr. Snow was employed as an operations manager for Pro-Clean Cleaning Services of Butler. He attended Community Alliance Church. He sang for area bands Blind Side and was currently with the band Vale.
He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Sue West, whom he marriage June 8, 2002; two sons, Chord Snow and Christian Snow, at home; his father of West Sunbury; his mother of Hermitage; his stepfather, David Vasconi of Hermitage; and his stepmother, Patricia Snow of West Sunbury.
Also surviving are five brothers, Kyle Snow of West Sunbury, Billy Vasconi of Conneaut Lake, Jeff Vasconi of West Middlesex, Jason Vasconi of North Carolina currently serving with the Marines stationed in Iraq and Robert Stephens of Karns City; three sisters, Mrs. Raymond (Benji) Shenette of Chicora, Mrs. Samuel (Penny) Geibel of West Sunbury, and Mrs. Luke (Mellissa) Rakoci of New Wilmington; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Doris Snell of Mercer; his maternal grandfather, Marcus Geibel and wife Donna of Butler; his maternal step-grandmother, Patricia Simons of Butler; and several nieces and nephews

Arthur E. "Art" Stanfield, Jr.

Arthur E. "Art" Stanfield, Jr., 65 of Saxonburg, died Friday, April 30, 2004 at 2:00 a.m. in Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Born September 1, 1938 in Butler, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Arthur E. Stanfield, Sr. and Vera May.
He was a member of North Main Street Church of God. He worked in the hot strip mill department for Armco, Butler Works. Mr. Stanfield was best known for his involvement with the Butler Armco Independent Union. He was Vice President from 1981 until 1993 and he was subsequently the President until his retirement in 1995.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley G. Snyder Stanfield whom he marriage July 3, 1959, two sons, Bryan E. Stanfield of Marlborough, Massachusetts and Eric S. Stanfield of Hagerstown, Maryland, a granddaughter, Amy Stanfield of Marlborough, Massachusetts and a step-grandson, Jonathan E. Jenkins of Marlborough, Massachusetts.

Shirley Jane Oesterling, 71 of Bredin Street, Butler, died Tuesday, April 27, 2004 at 11:44 a.m. in Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born October 24, 1932 in Butler, PA, she was the daughter of Henry Samuel Kummer and Ruth Kummer.
Mrs. Oesterling was a member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was the owner and operator of the Village Pizza Shop on North Main Street, Butler and she was also employed as a waitress at the Hot Dog shop. She loved to play bingo.
Surviving are her husband Earl H. Oesterling who she marriage on June 23, 1972, three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Tina) Sybert, Mrs. Jason (Jody) Queen, and Shirley (Sherry) K. Moore all of Butler, three sons of Erie, Pennsylvania, one step-daughter, Mrs. Russell (Ginger) Painter of Worthington, Pennsylvania, one step-son, Donald Oesterling of Parker, Pennsylvania, fourteen grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, seven step great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her daughter, a step-son, two brothers, three sisters, two step-sisters and one nephew.
Friends will be received at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, PA, from Friday April 30, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
