George John Andrew (Andy) Bash, Jr., age 80, of Edgewood Drive, Sarver, Pennsylvania, died Sunday, December 25, 2005 at 10:50 p.m. in the Butler Memorial Hospital, Butler, Pennsylvania.
Born March 31, 1925 in Creighton, Pennsylvania, he was the son of George A. and Laura Baker Bash, Sr.
Mr. Bash was a member of the Butler Wesleyan Methodist Church.
He served in the Army as a technician 5th grade combat engineer in Europe, Asiatic Pacific during WWII.
He was employed as a laborer for Walters and Haas and retired in 1990.
Mr. Bash was a member of the VFW Post #894 in Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania. He was a lifetime blood donor at Central Blood Bank. He enjoyed woodworking, feeding the birds and doing yard work.
Mr. Bash is survived by his wife, Betty Jane Boardman Bash who he marriage June 25, 1948; two daughters, Sandra L. Bash of Butler, Pennsylvania and Brenda L. Bash of Cabot, Pennsylvania; his two beloved dogs, Toby and Star; two brothers, Martin Bash of Sarver, Pennsylvania and Thomas Bash of Saxonburg, Pennsylvania; five sisters, Margaret Love of Saxonburg, Pennsylvania, Minnie Sum of Valencia, Pennsylvania, Violet Hunter of Cheswick, Pennsylvania, Mrs. George (Connie) Hoak of Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania, and Mrs. George (Mary) Sager of Waterman, Pennsylvania and by a number of nieces and nephews.
One brother, Chester Gibson, preceded Mr. Bash in death.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, December 27, 2005 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
Services will be held at the Butler Wesleyan Methodist Church on Wednesday, December 28, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend James A. Lynn, pastor of his church, officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania.
Robert A. Sweeney
February 26, 1922 - December 24, 2005
Robert A. Sweeney, age 83, of Butler, Pennsylvania, died Saturday, December 24, 2005 at 10:25 a.m. at the Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Butler.
Born February 26, 1922 in Butler, Pennsylvania, he was the son of John J. and Freda A. Brown Sweeney.
Mr. Sweeney was the foreman of a warehouse for T. W. Phillips Gas and Oil Company for 40 years before retiring in 1986.
He was a member of the Hill United Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Sweeney served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Butler County Law Enforcement and the Pennsylvania Sheriff's associations and the Century Club. He was a former president of the AFL-CIO Local 242 Utility Workers Union. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Mr. Sweeney is survived by his son, Daniel R. Sweeney and Rusty Roman and his daughter, Mrs. Clayton (Susan) Beam both of Butler, Pennsylvania; five grandchildren, Mrs. Richard (Lori) Bollas of Chardon, Ohio, Mrs. Donald (Amy) Geiger of Madison, Ohio, Allison Sweeney of Largo, Florida, Ashley Beam of Butler, Pennsylvania and Kyle Beam of Butler, Pennsylvania; two great granddaughters, Amber Collins and Zoe Geiger; a brother, John Sweeney of Massillon, Ohio; and by a number of nieces and nephews.
His wife, Alice C. Sweeney who was deceased January 1, 2005, and his two sisters, Betty Whaley and Beatrice Tait, preceded Mr. Sweeney in death.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Wednesday, December 28, 2005 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Thursday, December 29, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Dr. James E. Swanson, pastor of the Covenant United Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Butler County Memorial Park.
Marjorie H. Miller
October 16, 1914 - August 14, 2003
Marjorie Helen Miller, 88, of Bradyview Manor, East Brady, died Thursday at Bradyview.
Born in Tamaqua, Schuykill County, Oct. 16, 1914, she was the daughter of Arthur B. and Jennie S. Fleming.
She retired in 1972 as a home economics teacher for the Moniteau School District and enjoyed traveling and visiting family and friends.
Mrs. Miller was a member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are two sons, Jeffrey E. Miller of East Brady and Jon C. Miller of Harrisville; a daughter, Mrs. James (Judith L.) Weigle of Butler; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A brother, Charles Fleming of Binghamton, N.Y., and a number of nieces and nephews also survive. Her husband, Charles L. "Chuck" Miller, died March 9, 2003. A brother and a sister also preceded him in death.
MILLER - Friends of Marjorie Helen Miller, who died Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from noon to 2 p.m. Monday at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St. Services will follow at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dennis Molnar, her church pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Butler County Memorial Park, Butler Township.

Ronald R. Zinkhann

Ronald R. Zinkhann, age 64, of Eagle Mill Road, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Thursday, December 22, 2005 at 4:10 a.m. in the Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born October 11, 1941 in Connoquenessing, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Arthur Zinkhann and the late Gertrude Gilliland.
Mr. Zinkhann worked for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation for 20 years. Previously he had worked for Pullman Standard for 20 years. He was a veteran of the Army serving during the Vietnam War.
Mr. Zinkhann is survived by his wife, Joyce Nevel Zinkhann whom he marriage on October 26, 1968, two sons, Randy Zinkhann and Ron Zinkhann both of Butler, Pennsylvania; one grandson, two brothers, Arthur Zinkhann of Butler, Pennsylvania, Gary Zinkhann of Renfrew, Pennsylvania; one sister, Mrs. James (Roberta) Rooney of Spring, Texas and by several nieces and nephews.

Virginia R. Baird

Virginia R. Baird, age 93, of Port St. Lucia, Florida, died Tuesday, December 20, 2005 at 8:25 p.m. in the Brighton Gardens Nursing Home, Port St. Lucie, Florida.
Born February 26, 1912 in Butler, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of J. Boyd and Zula Douthett Rumbaugh.
Mrs. Baird was a high school teacher at the Butler Area High School. She was a former member of Hill United Presbyterian Church. She also had made her home in Franklin and Oil City; Claremont, New Hampshire and Stuart, Florida.
Mrs. Baird is survived by one son, Dr. Paul C. Baird of Natchez, Louisiana; four grandchildren, Andrea Anthony of Brighton, Colorado, Jeremy Baird of Natchez, Louisiana, Chardie Baird of Bedford, Texas, and Spencer Baird of Perrysburg, Ohio; and by one great-grandson, Brendan Anthony.
Her husband, W. Kenneth Baird who was deceased on August 20, 1983, one son, Dr. Bruce D. Baird who was deceased on August 20, 1983, a sister, Ruth Andrew and a brother, Jack Rumbaugh, preceded Mrs. Baird in death.

Funeral services will be held at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Tuesday, December 27, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Michael L. Harvey, pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church in America, officiating.
Interment will follow in Eau Claire Cemetery.
Hubert "Herb" Black, Jr.

Hubert "Herb" Black, Jr., age 69 of McCalmont Road, Renfrew, Pennsylvania, died Monday, December 19, 2005 at 10:17 p.m. in the Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born October 8, 1936 in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Hubert Black, Sr. and the late Naomi Leavelle.
Mr. Black was a retired truck driver for Coca Cola and he had been a supervisor for ADM Shipyard in New Orleans. He was Baptist by faith. Mr. Black was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War. He was a member of the Teamsters Union.
Mr. Black is survived by his wife, Pennye A. (Crabtree) Black whom he marriage on May 5, 1973, a son, Vincent "Tommy" Black of Renfrew, Pennsylvania; a daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Rebecca) Shealy of Picayune, Mississippi; a granddaughter, Katrina Marie Black; two sisters, Mrs. Bud (Gloria) Wolfe of Mount Chestnut, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Wanda Halmen of Bellefonte, Pennsylvania; a brother, Lester M. Hulick of Butler, Pennsylvania; two close friends, Garry Bennett, Jr. of Wiggins, Mississippi, and Julio Baca of New Orleans, Louisiana.
A Memorial services will be held at the Mount Chestnut Presbyterian Church on Friday, December 23, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Jeffrey Curtis officiating.
