Janice A. Harrison

April 14, 1944 - January 22, 2006

Janice A. Harrison, age 61, of Iroquois Drive, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Sunday, January 22, 2006 at 5:45 a.m. in the Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born April 14, 1944 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Charles J. Appel and the late Olive Hamel Appel.

Mrs. Harrison retired in 1997 after 32 years as a teacher in the Butler School District and had taught courses in radio and television production, drama production, American literature composition, speech and debate and creative writing.

Following her retirement, she operated her own video production company and worked part time at the Butler Auto Auction until her health prevented her from doing so.

She was an avid reader and loved to travel and paint. She enjoyed the theater and doing work on the computer.

Mrs. Harrison was a former member of the board of directors of the Butler Little Theatre, Animal Partners and the Butler Arts Council. She also served on the board of directors and as secretary of The Pennsylvania State Thespians.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Harrison, whom she marriage July 2, 1965; her father, Charles J. Appel and his wife, Ursula, of Mesa, Arizona, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Her mother and one brother, C. James Appel, preceded Mrs. Harrison in death.

Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, January 24, 2006 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.

Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Wednesday, January 25, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Timothy Falling, pastor of North Main Street Church Of God, officiating. Interment will follow in Jefferson Memorial Park, Pleasant Hills.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Butler Little Theater, Howard Street, Butler, Pennsylvania 16001.

Karl E. Baldauf

January 3, 1928 - January 20, 2006

Karl E. Baldauf, age 78, of North Sixth Avenue, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Friday, January 20, 2006 at the emergency room of the Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born January 3, 1928 in Butler, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Lawrence P. Baldauf and Mildred I. Neely.

Mr. Baldauf had been a lineman for West Penn Power for 17 years and then he worked for the United Telephone Company for 28 years, retiring in 1990. He also was a bricklayer.

Mr. Baldauf was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

He was a veteran of the Army and had served in Italy.

He was an avid bowler and enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors. He especially enjoyed going to his hunting camp. He was an avid follower of Butler High School football and basketball.

Mr. Baldauf is survived by his wife, Thelma M. Houston Baldauf, whom he marriage December 10, 1948; his daughter, Mrs. Larry (Sandy) Erdos of Butler, Pennsylvania; his son, Terry K. Baldauf and his wife, Pam, of Butler, Pennsylvania; four grandchildren, Mrs. Lt. Jonathan (Kristen) Gardner of Laughlin Air Force Base, Texas, Mrs. Garret (Tiffany) Musko, of Butler; Pennsylvania and Brent K. and Ryan C. Baldauf, both of Butler, Pennsylvania and a great-grandson, Rowan Musko. He is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. Kathryn Souzer and Jean Baldauf both of Butler, Pennsylvania, and Mrs. Charles "Chuck" (Janet) Manuel of Sardinia, Ohio, and a number of nieces and nephews.

One brother, Kenneth Baldauf, preceded him in death.

Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, January 23, 2006 and Tuesday, January 24, 2006 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m.

Funeral services will be held at the Trinity Lutheran Church on Tuesday, January 24, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Peter Nordby, associate pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Burial Estates, Mount Chestnut.

Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 120 Sunset Drive, Butler, Pennsylvania 16001.

Eleanore L. Miller

September 26, 1920 - January 15, 2006

Eleanore Lucille Miller, age 85 of Laurette Street, Torrance, California, formerly of Covewood Drive, Butler, died Sunday, January 15, 2006 at 6:00 p.m. at her residence.

Born September 26, 1920 in Butler, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late Earle H. Craig and the late Hester I. Heckler.

Mrs. Miller was a homemaker and registered nurse for Charles B. Turnblacer, MD. Mrs. Miller was a former member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Chicora, Pennsylvania, then became a member of the First Lutheran Church in Torrance, California. She was a graduate of Butler High School, class of 1938 and a graduate of Butler Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1941. She was a member of the National American Association of Retired People and a past Worthy Matron of the Chicora Chapter #354 OES.

Mrs. Miller is survived by her son, Craig E. Miller of Torrance, California; one granddaughter, one grandson, and three great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert E. Miller who passed away on August 8, 1994 and by one sister.

Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Monday, January 23, 2006 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Tuesday, January 24, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend James A. Higgins of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Burial Estates.

Contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 2217 Chicora Road, Chicora, Pennsylvania 16025.

Gareth D. "Gary" Lewis

January 10, 1937 - January 8, 2006

Gareth DuWayne "Gary" Lewis, age 68 formerly of Butler and Melbourne, Florida died Sunday, January 8, 2006 at 9:30 p.m. in Monaca, Pennsylvania.

Born January 10, 1937 in Butler, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Robert Moore Lewis and the late Rose M. Pataky.

Mr. Lewis was an alumnus of Butler High School class of 1954. He graduated from the College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, Virginia with a degree in accounting. Mr. Lewis was formerly marriage to Garnette Hobbs. His career in hospitality spanned 30 years that began in Williamsburg, Virginia and took him to Nassau, Grand Bahamas Islands, Dallas, Texas, Simsbury, Connecticut, Philadelphia and Upper St. Clair, Pennsylvania. He was later self-employed in Melbourne, Florida for 20 years until 2004 when he began a difficult struggle with Parkinson's disease. He returned in 2005 to be with friends in his original Pennsylvania roots.

Mr. Lewis is survived by one son, Robert Scott Lewis of Far Hills, New Jersey; two granddaughters, Morgan and MacKenzie Lewis.

There will be no public visitation or services. Arrangements are being handled by the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania. Interment will be in Worthington Presbyterian Cemetery.

Robert Glenn Whitmire

July 31, 1923 - January 8, 2006

Robert Glenn Whitmire, age 82 of Orchard Drive, Cross Lanes, West Virginia, died Sunday, January 8, 2006 at 10:35 a.m. in the Heartland of Charleston after a long illness.

Born July 31, 1923 in Butler, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Everett and Dorothy Benton Whitmire.

Mr. Whitmire was a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of Perrow Presbyterian Church where he served as both a deacon and elder. He served in the United States Army and was a veteran of World War II.

Mr. Whitmire is survived by Inez M. Whitmire, his wife of fifty-six years, two sisters, Maxine and her husband George Ray, Betty Peters both of Butler, Pennsylvania; and one brother, Donald Whitmire of Cross Lane, West Virginia.

Mr. Whitmire was preceded in death by one son, Dean Whitmire.

Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Thursday, January 12, 2006 from 6 to 7 p.m.

Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Thursday, January 12, 2006 at 7 p.m. Interment will take place in Butler County Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Open Arms Foundation, 5345 Big Tyler Road, Cross Lanes, West Virginia 25313.

Raymond J. Webber

February 11, 1922 - January 2, 2005

Raymond J. Webber, age 83 of Linsdale Drive, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Monday, January 2, 2006 at 3:41 a.m. in the Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born February 11, 1922 in Greenville, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Manuel Webber and the late Katherine E. Hoovler.

Mr. Webber was a member of Grace @ Calvary Church. In Mr. Webber's earlier years he worked for Bessemer Railroad in Greenville, Pennsylvania, then worked at Butler Armco in the stainless shipping department retiring in 1983. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in WW II. He was the director of the Butler City Hunting and Fishing Club, he also enjoyed hunting, fishing and being with his family.

Mr. Webber is survived by one son, Larry R. Webber and his wife Rita; two granddaughters, Cristina M. Black and her husband Steve, Melissa L. Slater and her husband Greg all of Butler, Pennsylvania; three great-grandchildren, Trevin J. Slater, Nicholas S. Black, and Summer R. Slater; two sisters, Mrs. Ray (Catherine M.) Croce of Greenville, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Mary E. Lark of West Middlesex, Pennsylvania; four brothers, Gerald R. Webber of Greenville, Pennsylvania, Leo Duane Webber of Readon, Washington, Clifford J. Webber of Woodruff, Wisconsin, Donald E. Webber of Greenville, Pennsylvania; and by a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Webber was preceded in death by he his wife, Mary Jane Zeigler Webber who passed away on September 12, 2001, by one infant daughter, two sisters and two brothers.

Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Wednesday, January 4, 2006 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Thursday, January 5, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Timothy Bupp of Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Burial Estates.

Contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, Butler County Unit, P. O. Box 3014, Butler, Pennsylvania 16003.
