David Lee Rensel, age 71, formerly of Charlon Street, Butler, Pennsylvania died Monday, February 27, 2006 at 7:55 a.m. at the Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born November 4, 1934 in Butler, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Guy G. and Hazel Covert Rensel.
Mr. Rensel retired after 41 years of service in 1997 from the Melt Shop at Butler Armco Steel, now AK Steel. He was a life member of the South Butler Fire Company. He enjoyed reading, fishing, hunting, and most of all, boating.
He was Protestant by faith.
Mr. Rensel is survived by two sons, David Rensel and his wife, Cheryl of Butler, Pennsylvania and Aaron Rensel and his wife, Deanna of Portersville, Pennsylvania; two daughters, Sherry Hohn and her husband, Marty of Chicora, Pennsylvania and Susan Shulik and her husband, Marty of Butler, Pennsylvania; nine grandchildren, Michael Hohn and his wife, Kara of York, Pennsylvania, Jared Hohn, Nathan and Nicholas Shulik, Rachael, Ethan, AJ, Eric, and Alyssa Rensel; one great grandson, Benjamin Hohn; and by his friend, Charlotte Scholl.
His wife, Juanita Riott Rensel who was deceased September 9, 1989, preceded Mr. Rensel in death.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, February 28, 2006 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
Funeral services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Wednesday, March 1, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend J. David Panther, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating.

Gladys M. Smith

Gladys M. Smith, age 84, formerly of Brownsdale Manor and K&L Mobile Home Park, died Sunday, February 26, 2006 at 5:45 a.m. at the Chicora Medical Center in Chicora, Pennsylvania.
Born November 5, 1921 in Isle, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Ben and Hilda Grady Wenner.
She was a homemaker and Protestant by faith.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her three sisters, Mrs. Lucille Hilliard of Butler, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Jeanetta Himes of Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania, and Mrs. Cecelia Wiley of New Castle, Pennsylvania; and by a umber of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Derwood L. Brown, died Sept. 15, 1963; and by her second husband, Elmer L. "Mike" Smith, died Feb. 27, 1986.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, February 28, 2006 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Dennis Krajacic, pastor of Community Alliance Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Burial Estates.
Donald Keith Bowser
October 15, 1931 - February 23, 2006
Donald Keith Bowser, age 74, of North Orchard Drive, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Thursday, February 23, 2006 at 1:28 p.m. at the Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born October 15, 1931 in Parker, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Jack C. and Elizabeth Arendt Bowser.
Mr. Bowser was a shipping supervisor for INDSPEC Chemical Corporation, which was formerly owned by Beazer Corporation, which was formerly owned by Koppers Company. He retired in 1991 after 42 years. Years earlier, he owned and operated a bowling alley with two partners in Chicora, Pennsylvania.
He was a member of the Emlenton United Methodist Church.
Mr. Bowser is survived by his wife, Betty K. Bowser; his son, Andrew Keith Bowser of Bedford, Texas; a granddaughter; his brother, Richard C. Bowser of Parker, Pennsylvania and by a number of nieces and nephews.
One brother preceded Mr. Bowser in death.

Ralph L. Myers

Ralph L. Myers, age 67 of Brugh Avenue, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Tuesday, February 21, 2006 at 11:55 p.m. at his residence.
Born January 28, 1939 in Butler, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Charles William Myers and the late Ethel Mae Gemeinhart.
Mr. Myers was a furnace operator for AK Steel retiring on January 31, 2001 after 35 years of service. He was Lutheran by faith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a life member of the American Legion Post #778 of Lyndora. Mr. Myers was a member of the Summit Township Sportsmen’s Club of Herman. He was a life member of the NRA and also Ducks Unlimited. He enjoyed hunting, carpentry work and country music.
Mr. Myers is survived by his wife, Karen M. (Graham) Myers whom he marriage on March 27, 2000, three step-sons, Raymond Schuffert, and Dale Schuffert, both of North Carolina, Larry McLaughlin, Jr., of Florida; four step-daughter, Kathie Zang of Butler, Pennsylvania, Robin Scott of Karns City, Pennsylvania, Tammi Wolfe, of North Carolina, Denise Kerr of Butler, Pennsylvania; five step-granddaughters, eight step-grandsons, two sisters, Mrs. Richard (Carol) Kramer of Butler, Pennsylvania, Mrs. John (Francis) Finnegan of St. Paul, Minnesota and by a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Myers was preceded in death by his first wife Janice L. Welker Schuffert Myers who died on April 1, 1993.

Sarah Marie Van Tassel

Sarah Marie Van Tassel, age 79 of Van Mar Drive, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Tuesday, February 21, 2006 at 10:45 a.m. in the Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born November 9, 1926 in Marion Township, Butler, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late James Brady Kelly and the late Caroline Steiner.
Mrs. Van Tassel was an elementary teacher and substitute teacher for the Imperial and Butler Area School Districts. She was a graduate of Clarion State Teachers College/Bachelors in Education. Mrs. Van Tassel was a member of Saint Andrews Roman Catholic Church. She was also a tutor for the adult literacy program for 10 years and was an avid reader.
Mrs. Van Tassel is survived by one son, Sherburne Rand Van Tassel of Butler, Pennsylvania; three daughters, Jacqueline Simpson and her husband Doug of the North Hills, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Kelly Van Tassel of Butler, Pennsylvania, Patricia Van Tassel of Fairfield, Connecticut; one grandson, Colby Simpson; two sisters, Josephine Galla of Oil City, Pennsylvania, Pauline Errera of Kent, Ohio; four brothers, Jim Kelly of Boyers, Pennsylvania, Burdette Kelly of Harrisville, Pennsylvania, Keith Kelly of Kent, Ohio, Doug Kelly of Kennerdell, Pennsylvania; and by eight nephews and eleven nieces.
Mrs. Van Tassel was preceded in death by her husband, Sherburne William Van Tassel who passed away on May 6, 1998, by one brother, one sister and one nephew.

Services will be held at the St. Andrew's Roman Catholic Church on Friday, February 24, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. with Father James Salberg of St. Andrew's Roman Catholic Church officiating. Interment will follow in Slippery Rock Cemetery.

Bryan Scott Kiser
November 27, 1974 - February 20, 2006
Bryan Scott Kiser, age 31 of Havenhill Drive, Butler, Pennsylvania passed away as a result of an automobile accident on Monday, February 20, 2006 at 2:30 a.m. on Route 68 in Connoquenessing Township.
Born in Clarion, Pennsylvania on November 27, 1974, he was the son of Gary D. Kiser and Darlene J. Fair Kiser. He attended both the Church of Nazarene in Butler and the Clarion United Methodist Church. Bryan was a 1993 graduate of Butler High School and a 1997 graduate of Pittsburgh Technical Institute. He graduated with degrees in computer aided drafting and architectural drafting. He was currently employed by re 2, which is a part of the robotics consortium of Carnegie Mellon University as a robotics engineer. He enjoyed cars, hunting, fishing, boating and the outdoors. He was an avid Steeler Fan.
He is survived by his father and mother Gary D. and Darlene J. Kiser with whom he made his home, one sister Kimberly M. Kiser of Butler, Pennsylvania, one nephew, Christopher Kiser, his maternal grandmother, Mary Fair Bowman and his step-maternal grandfather Bill Bowman of Mercer, Pennsylvania, his fiancée, Alexis Erdos, they were to be marriage on May 27, 2006, by many aunts, uncles and cousins. Mr. Kiser was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Gifford Fair and his paternal grandparents Wilbur H. Kiser and Gladys Elslager Kiser, one aunt, Shirley Lee Hilderbrand and one uncle, W. Dwayne Kiser.
Friends and family will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home Inc. on Thursday, February 23, 2006 from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Friday, February 24, 2006 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, February 25, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. from the First United Methodist Church, 200 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania 16001 with The Rev. J. David Panther of The First United Methodist Church and the Rev. Robert B. Calhoon of the Church of the Nazarene in Butler Officiating.
