Robert C. Sminkey Jr.
Robert C. Sminkey Jr., 40, of Lynnport, died Wednesday in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.
He was a Navy veteran, having served on a nuclear submarine force in Groton, Conn., for 17 years.
Born in Allentown, he was a son of Mrs. Joan (Bishop) Sminkey of Burlington, Vt., and the late Robert C. Sminkey.
Surviving in addition to his mother are a son, Marcus D. of Groton; two brothers, David R. of Underhill, Vt., and Marc C. of Guilford, Conn.; a sister, Shirley A., wife of Jeff Cuddy of Manchester, N.H.; and a companion, Wendy Carraher, with whom he resided.

Warren E.C. Daney Jr.
Warren E.C. Daney Jr., 62, of Clarks Summit, Lackawanna County, died Tuesday in the Clarks Summit State Hospital. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth (Schaffer) Daney.
Born in Nazareth, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Warren E.C. Daney Sr.
Surviving are two daughters, Louanne Hahn of Effort and Dawn Henry of Jessup, Ga.; and five grandchildren.

Rev. Lester E. Fetter
The Rev. Lester E. Fetter, 83, of Athens, Bradford County, died Wednesday in the Heritage Nursing Home, Athens. He was the husband of Katherine (Rebmann) Fetter. They observed their 59th wedding anniversary in June.
A graduate of Muhlenberg College and the Lutheran Theological Seminary, Philadelphia, he earned a master of sacred theology degree from the seminary in 1940.
He was pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Weissport, 1938-40; Trinity Lutheran Church, Lansford, 1940-43; Alsace Lutheran Church, Reading, 1943-59; and St. Paul Lutheran Church, Glenside, Montgomery County, for 22 years before retiring in 1981.
Born in Perkasie, he was a son of the late Edward and Bertha (Heisermann) Fetter.
He was a member of the board of directors of Muhlenberg College for about 50 years, having served as its president from 1961-75.
Rev. Fetter was a past president of the Lehighton-Weissport and Vicinity Ministerium.
He served on the Lutheran Theological Seminary review board and on the boards of the Artman Nursing Home and the Good Shepherd Home, Allentown.
In 1955, he was recognized by the Pennsylvania Parole Board for his sponsorship of prison parolees and the Silver Beaver Award, the highest award in scouting.
Surviving in addition to his widow are a daughter Lois, wife of Dr. Joseph Blood of Athens; a son, Lester Jr. of Ocean, N.J.; two sisters, Pauline, wife of Herbert Nase in Pennsylvania, and Edna, wife of Gordon Simmons of Telford; a brother, the Rev. Raymond of Elizabethtown, Lancaster County; five grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.

Elmer W. Snyder
Elmer W. Snyder, 70, of 8207 Morgan St., Slatedale, died Thursday in the Sacred Heart Hospital, Allentown. He was the husband of Georgia (Morris) Snyder. They observed their 38th wedding anniversary in July.
He was a laborer for Mack Trucks, Inc., Allentown, for 36 years before retiring in 1987.
Born in Farmington, he was a son of the late Elmer H. and Katherine (Witek) Snyder.
He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Slatedale.
Snyder was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
He was a charter member of the Slatedale Ambulance Corps and a life member of the Citizens Fire Company of Slatedale.
Surviving in addition to his widow are five sisters, Evelyn K., wife of William Wilt, and Helen L. Kessler, both of Allentown, Virginia S., wife of Anthony Fox of Coudersport, Potter County, and Marie Montgomery and Mary, wife of Lowell Geiger, both of Kempton; and three brothers, Henry H. of Allentown, Russell C. of Gold, Potter County, and Ralph J. of New Tripoli.
The Harding-Fox Funeral Home, Slatington, is in charge of arrangements

Mrs. Pearl E. Feinour
Mrs. Pearl E. Feinour, 84, of New Tripoli, died Thursday in the Allentown Osteopathic Medical Center. She was the widow of Mark D. Feinour.
Born in Stines Corner, she was a daughter of the late Mathias E. and Ellen (Werley) Oldt.
She was a member of Friedens Lutheran Church, Stony Run.
Surviving are a sister, Margaret Strickler of New Tripoli; and nieces and nephews.

Barry R. Engleman Sr.
Barry R. Engleman Sr., 55, of 1560 Rising Sun Road, Slatington, died Wednesday in the Muhlenberg Hospital Center, Bethlehem. He was the husband of Janet L. (Anthony) Engleman. They observed their 36th wedding anniversary in May.
He was a laborer for Loft Seeds, Inc., Bethlehem.
Born in Allentown, he was a son of Mrs. Mary (Kneller) Engleman of Lower Macungie Township and the late Raymond Engleman.
Surviving in addition to his widow and mother are three daughters, Sylvia C., wife of Raymond Greenzweig of Slatington, Fay Ann Schmoyer of Slatedale and Tammy L., wife of Brian Keller of Wescosville; two sons, Barry R. Jr. of Norfolk, Va., and Dwayne of Oceana, Va.; two sisters, Cleo, wife of Larry Henry of Hensingerville, and Sally, wife of George Haring of Macungie; and nine grandchildren.

Charles Marikovics
Charles Marikovics, 76, of Albrightsville, died Wednesday in the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital, Wilkes-Barre. He was the husband of Barbara (Groves) Marikovics. They were married for 52 years.
Prior to retiring, he was a sheet metal mechanic, having worked for the International Sheet Metal Workers Association, Local 28, New York City, N.Y.
Born in New York City, he was a son of the late Bela and Anna (Konyakowsky) Marikovics.
He was a member of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, Lake Harmony.
Marikovics was a Navy veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific Theater of Operations, where he was decorated with six Bronze stars.
The deceased was a member of American Legion Post 927, Gilbert, and the Penn-Kidder and Carbon County Senior Citizens.
Surviving in addition to his widow are a son Donald of Merrick, N.Y.; a brother David of Grand Blance, Mich.; two sisters, Margaret Hart of Maspeth, N.Y., and Irene Hamilton of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and four grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a son William.
The Donald N. Gower Funeral Home, Rt. 209, Gilbert, is in charge of the arrangements.

Ervin K. Freed
Ervin K. Freed, 85, of 527 Quakake Road, Packer Township, Weatherly R.1, died Wednesday in the Hazleton General Hospital. He was the husband of the late Gladys L. (Jenkins) Freed, who died in 1989.
Before retiring, he was a machinist at the Weatherly Foundry and earlier was employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
Born in Weatherly, he was a son of the late Howard and Amanda (Koch) Freed.
He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, Weatherly.
Freed was a Army Air Force veteran, having served in England.
Surviving are a son, Howard E. of Weatherly R.1; a daughter Marlene, wife of Stephen Kardos of Schenectady, N.Y.; five grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Carrie, Mary and Laura Freed; and five brothers, Walter, Clarence, Raymond, Robert and Harvey.

Mary Fields
Mary Fields of 404 W. Kline Ave., Lansford, died Wednesday in the Geriatric Center of the Miners Memorial Medical Center.
She was retired from the former Lansford Apparel and Kiddie Kloes garment factories in Lansford.
Born in Lansford, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Dombrosky) Fields.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, Lansford.
Surviving are two sisters, Helen, at home, and Pauline Zarsky of Lansford; and a brother Elias, at home.
She was also preceded in death by five brothers, William, George, Joseph, John and Michael; and a sister, Anna O'Shaunessy.
The Al M. Sverchek Funeral Home, Powell and E. Bertsch streets, Lansford, is in charge of arrangements.

John Morgans
John Morgans, 76, of Old Bridge, N.J., died Tuesday at his residence. He was the husband of Marian (Oertel) Morgans.
Born in Lansford, he was a son of the late John Morgans and Marie (McGee) Morgans Murnin.
He resided in New Brunswick, N.J. before moving 45 years ago to Old Bridge where he was self-employed as an auto mechanic.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and served eight years as commander of Chapter 67, Disabled American Veterans of South Amboy. He was also a member of American Legion post 173 of Tamaqua.
Surviving with his widow are four sons, John of Tamaqua, William of Union Beach, N.J., Daniel of Lakeland, Fla., and Howard of Monroe, N.J.; one daughter, Catherine Faye, wife of Frank Miller of Hometown; a brother, Joseph of Jim Thorpe; three sisters, Jean of Lansford, Eleanor, wife of Robert Dumont of Levittown, Pa., and Faye Hydro of Edison,N.J.; 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, William, and a sister, Doris Lewis.
Services will be Saturday in Old Bridge.
