Daniel J. Tomchik
Daniel J. Tomchik 75, of Parlin, N.J., formerly of Coaldale, died Sunday in the South Amboy Medical Center. He was the husband of Alice Kohl. They were married for 53 years.
He was the son of the late John and Anastia Tomchik.
A 1939 graduate of the former Coaldale High School, he served with the military in the Pacific during World War II.
Surviving in addition to his widow are two daughters, Diane, wife of Ed Reilly of Long Island, N.Y., and Carolyn Anders of Parlin; two sisters, Dorothy, wife of Joseph Lazar of Coaldale, and Mildred, wife of Martin Kovich of Blandon; a grandson, a step-granddaughter and two great-granddaughters.
He was also preceded in death by four sisters, Veronica, Agnes, Alice and Helen.
A funeral Mass and services will be held in Lindenhurst, N.Y.
Mrs. Dorothy E. Ingebrethsen
Mrs. Dorothy E. Ingebrethsen of Jim Thorpe, formerly of Westbury, Long Island, N.Y., died Sunday in the Muhlenberg Hospital Center, Bethlehem. She was the widow of John F. Ingebrethsen, who died on Feb. 12.
Born in Flushing, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Martin and Sophia Grenham.
She was a member of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, Lake Harmony.
Surviving are six children; 10 grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Margie Conway, and a brother Arthur, both of Cherry Hill, N.J.
The Edward F. Melber Funeral Home, 524 Center St., Jim Thorpe, is in charge of the arrangements.
Richard J.C. Schaffer
Richard J.C. Schaffer, 62, of 2518 Fifth St., Chapmans, died Monday in the St. Luke Hospital, Fountain Hill, Bethlehem. He was the husband of Lillian H. (Smith) Schaffer. They observed their 38th wedding anniversary last July.
He was a rigger and welder at the Bethlehem Steel Corporation for 40 years before retiring in 1992.
Born in Weaversville, he was a son of the late Willard D. and Edith L. (Getz) Schaffer.
He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, Moorestown, where he sang in the choir and was a former deacon, consistory president, property committee member and member of the Men's Fellowship.
An Army veteran, he belonged to the Sons of the Union Veterans of the Civil War, M Company, Northampton War.
Surviving in addition to his widow are a daughter, Lora Ann, wife of Wayne P. Oyer of Phillipsburg, N.J.; two sons, Darrell R. of Danielsville and Ronald F. of Bath; a sister, Sara L. of Northampton; two brothers, Donald of Northampton and Daniel of Columbus, Ohio; and six grandchildren.
Mrs. J. Elizabeth Marks
Mrs. J. Elizabeth Marks, 60, of Allentown, died Monday in her home. She was the widow of Joseph V. Marks.
She was an assembler for the former Western Electric, Allentown, for several years.
Born in Palmerton, she was a daughter of Walter M. and Prudence (Lucero) Porobenski of Allentown.
The deceased was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Salisbury Township.
Surviving in addition to her parents are two sons, Jerome W. of Tampa, Fla., and Joseph V. II of Bethlehem; a daughter, Vanessa M., wife of Anthony Sanmartino of Gallup, N.M.; four sisters, Constance, wife of Louis Schaffer of Northampton, Cynthia M., wife of Gerald Maccioli, and Prudence E., wife of Joseph Pietrobon, both of Allentown, and Monica L., wife of Wayne Carr of Bethlehem; and two grandchildren.
Mrs. Louis Bayak
Mrs. Beatrice Barthold-Bayak, 73, of 822 14th Ave., Bethlehem, died Saturday in the Muhlenberg Hospital Center, Bethlehem. She was the wife of Louis Bayak.
She was a secretary for Elek Plumbing, Bethlehem, before retiring.
Born in Carbondale, Luzerne County, she was a daughter of the late Iola and Robert Taylor.
She was a member of SS. Simon and Jude Catholic Church, Bethlehem.
Mrs. Bayak was a volunteer for the American Red Cross.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a son George of Washington; three sisters, pearl Denton of Bridgewater, N.Y., Pauline Nothstein of Lehighton and Eleanor Holden in Nevada; two brothers, Robert of Charleston, S.C., and Norman of Bethlehem; and three grandchildren.
Mrs. Jean Lindsey
Mrs. Jean Lindsey, 72, of Weatherly R.2, died Monday morning at her home in Lehigh Township. She was the widow of Edward Lindsey, who died in 1989.
She and her husband were owners and operators of the Skyway Hotel, SR940, White Haven, for 10 years.
Born in Freeland, she was a daughter of the late Leo and Stella (Nowak) Mullern, and resided in the area her entire life.
She was a member of St. Patrick's Church, White Haven.
Surviving are a daughter, Margaret Hoffman of Weatherly; a sister, Alice Simmons of Dickson City, Lackawanna County; and six grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Edward Jr., who died in 1990.
Leonard J. Belko Sr.
Leonard J. Belko Sr., 71, of Levittown, died Sunday at the Delaware Valley Medical Center, Falls Township. He was the husband of Rose (Calabrese) Belko. They were married for 46 years.
He was employed as an electrical motor inspector with U.S. Steel for 34 years, retiring in 1988.
Born in Tamaqua, he was was a resident of Levittown for the past 46 years.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II and was a member of the John Billington VFW Post No. 6495, Levittown; and the American Legion Post No. 0436 in Penndell.
He was a member of Queen of the Universe parish.
Surviving with his wife are two sons, Leonard of Levittown, and Vincent of Hainesport, N.J.; two daughters, Susan Belko of Levittown, and Monica Belko of Newtown; five grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
