James J. Shober Jr.
James J. Shober Jr., 70, of Lake Hauto, Nesquehoning R.1, died Thursday in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of Marge (Ternosky) Shober. They observed their 49th wedding anniversary in January.
He was director of mines and minerals industries for the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Resources before retiring in 1991 after 50 years of service.
Born in Summit Hill, he was a son of the late James J. Sr. and Anna (Dougherty) Shober.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Nesquehoning.
Shober was a 1944 graduate of the former Lansford High School, where he was a member of its 1943 Eastern Conference championship football team.
He was a fireman first class in the Navy during World War II.
The deceased also belonged to the Men of Marian.
Surviving in addition to his widow are a son, James J. III of Summit Hill; four brothers, John of Lansford, Edward of Summit Hill, Robert of West Hazleton and Thomas of Nesquehoning; five sisters, Margaret Crampsie of Summit Hill, Marion, wife of Thomas Bonner of Levittown, Bucks County, Ann, wife of Howard Heffelfinger of Allentown, Joan, wife of Walter Danielweicz of Philadelphia, and Vern, wife of Paul Patuka of Center Valley; two granddaughters and nieces and nephews.
The Joseph S. Blazosky Funeral Home, 81 E. Catawissa St., Nesquehoning, is in charge of the arrangements.
William K. Allen
William K. 'Bill' Allen, 52, of Robscott Manor, 27 Anglin Drive, Newark, Del., formerly of Tamaqua, died Thursday in his home. He was the husband of Rosemary A. (Forster) Allen.
He was employed by B.E. & K. of Newark since 1991, and previously had worked for the Dupont Corporation in Delaware, 1969-91.
Born in Charleston, S.C., he was a son of Frank M. Allen in Florida and the late Ruth E. 'Betty' (King) Allen.
He was a 1963 graduate of Tamaqua High School and a graduate of the E.E.P. Program of Pennsylvania State University, Schuylkill Campus.
Allen was an Air Force veteran.
Surviving in addition to his widow and father are a daughter, Cynthia M., wife of Ronald M. Elko of Newark; two sons, Michael W., at home, and Stephen F. of Newark; three sisters, Maude of Minneapolis, Minn., Rebecca of West Chester, and Ruth, wife of John Dahms of Perkasie; and a grandson.
The Jon M. Zizelmann Funeral Home, 500 E. Broad St., Tamaqua, is in charge of the arrangements.
Stanley J. Dziedzic
Stanley J. Dzeidzic, 73, of Allentown, died Thursday in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of Margaret R. (Heisler) Dziedzic. They observed their 23rd wedding anniversary last April.
He worked in the beam yards of the Bethlehem Steel Corporation for 34 years before retiring.
Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Stanley and Josephine (Jarosiewicz) Dziedzic.
He was a member of St. John the Baptist Slovak Catholic Church, Allentown.
Dziedzic was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Surviving in addition to his widow are a son, Stanley J. of Marietta, Ga.; four daughters, Dolores Miller of Macungie, Debra, wife of Daniel Walker of Burnsville, Minn., and Diane, wife of Larry Miller, and Denise, wife of Stephen Mazur, both of Allentown; two brothers, James of Jim Thorpe and Francis of Northampton; a sister, Anna Gaychek of Allentown; a stepson, Lawrence Balogach, and a stepdaughter, Patricia Baran, both of Allentown; 14 grandchildren, a great-grandson, six step-grandchildren and a step-great-granddaughter.
Mark S. Solt
Mark S. Solt, 68, of 5540 Chenango Drive, Bethlehem, died Wednesday in his home.
He was a group leader for the U.S. Postal Service at its Eastern Postal Supply Depot, Somerville, N.J., before retiring in 1988 after 26 years of service.
Born in Lehighton, he was a son of the late David G. and Minerva (Bucks) Solt.
He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ, Northampton.
Solt was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was also a life member of Lehigh Fire Co. No. One, Lehighton.
Surviving are a daughter, Margaret R., wife of Mark Garrison of Bethlehem; two brothers, Herman D. of Lehighton and Claude of Germansville; two sisters, Esther Larish of Davie, Fla., and Ruth Gombert of Harleysville; and two grandchildren.

Mrs. Arlene E. Kostenbader
Mrs. Arlene E. Kostenbader, 83, of 121 Cherry Hill Road, Bushkill Township, died Wednesday in the Easton Hospital. She was the widow of Walter E. Kostenbader Sr., who died in December.
She was a coilmaker for Magnetic Windings, Palmer Township, for 37 years before retiring in 1978.
Born in Moore Township, she was a daughter of the late George and Laura (Zellner) Buskirk.
She was a member of the Schoeneck Moravian Church, Nazareth.
Surviving are a son, Walter Jr. of Nazareth; a daughter, Betty M. Rinker of Palmer Township; a brother Harold of Wind Gap; two sisters, Hilda Miller of Newburg and Mildred Breinig of Walnutport; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Oscar M. Frey
Oscar M. Frey, 95, formerly of 30 Greenwich St., Kutztown, died Wednesday in the Kutztown Manor. He was the husband of the late Eva C. (Fenstermaker) Frey, who died in 1988.
He worked in the maintenance department of the Berkleigh Country Club, Kutztown, for 25 years, and was also employed by Kutztown Community Park. Between 1930-40, he was a farmed in the Weisenberg Township area.
Born in Lynn Township, he was a son of the late Moses and Katie (Hollenbach) Frey.
Surviving are a daughter, Doris E. Moyer of Topton; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson.
Mrs. Ella S. Baer
Mrs. Ella S. Baer, 84, formerly of New Ringgold R.2, died Thursday in the Burke Health Care Facility, Burke, Va., where she had resided since March, 1995. She was the widow of Frank M. Baer, who died June 23, 1992.
From 1960 until her retirement in 1974, she was employed as a teacher for the Tamaqua Area School District at its West Penn Elementary School. Prior to that, she taught in various one-room schoolhouses in West Penn Township.
Born in West Penn Township, she was a daughter of the late John A. and Clara (Schaeffer) Zehner.
She was a member of the Lutheran Congregation of Zions Union Stone Church, New Ringgold R.2,
She was a graduate of Tamaqua High School and the former Kutztown Normal School, which pre-dated Kutztown University.
Surviving are a son Richard F. Baer, of New Tripoli; two daughters, Jean E. Miller, of Lansing Mi., and Grace M., wife of Ray Baun, of Burke, Va.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Frank M. Hydro
Frank M. Hydro, 52, of 8003 Lady Lewis Court, Springfield, Va., died Friday at his home. He was the husband of Raelene (Kissner) Hydro. They were married 30 years last June 18.
Born in Nesquehoning, he was a son of Ann (Tarcha) Hydro and the late Frank J. Hydro.
He owned an auto towing business in Virginia. Before that he worked for The Department of Energy with the U.S. Governmnet for 25 years.
Surviving with his wife and mother are three sons, Frank, James and Daniel, all in Virginia, and a sister, Elaine, wife of Raynold Bennecoff of Allentown.

Evelyn S. Buzzard
Evelyn S. Buzzard, 82, of 436 Delaware Ave., Palmerton, died Friday in the Palmerton Hospital. She was the widow of Blaine O. Buzzard.
Born in Slatedale, she was a daughter of the late William J. and Ellen (Kern) Rohrbach.
She worked as a clerk 35 years for Stemlers Hardware, retiring in 1967.
She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Aquashicola.
Surviving is a sister, Mrs. Mildred Jones of Palmerton.
